Too Little And Too Late Edition: Is France Awakening From Its Slumber?

French Poll: 61 Percent Say Islam Is Incompatible With Their Society, and yet they will not vote for the one candidate who will do something about it. Poll shows Macron win in French election in shadow of 'Penelopegate'.

France will fall to the Muslim invasion, which seems likely, or it will have a social upheaval reminiscent of the Jacobins' Reign of Terror. But I doubt that; the French have been emasculated by the EU, by their own elites, and by careful and concerted pressure from the Arab world. There is plenty of oil money in Paris, and the French have always been comfortable with that brand of Islam. But there is a difference between the elegant Arab businessman in his bespoke suit --he is the scout -- and the backward, ignorant, violent 6th century infantry that has arrived in France.

Unfortunately the French didn't notice until it was too late.

17 It is interesting to see that as people are slowly waking up, the media is exerting a stronger and stronger attempt to try to control the Overton window.

In the US the argument was that even if you disagree with Hillary, Trump is beyond the pale...for whatever reason the FSM could make up at that minute.

Of course this is part of a larger initiative we see where the left is trying to declare any effective opposition to them illegitimate if not illegal.

As I told many a liberal, I don't give a flying **** about the latest reason the Daily Show told you to hate Trump - he isn't Hillary, he doesn't want to imprison me for my beliefs, and he doesn't want to start WWIII.

I think a good benchmark of whether a country has been conquered is the state of their blasphemy laws (both nominal and de facto)

So if you can be arrested, or even attacked, for saying something negative about Islam or Muslims, but are free to say the same about Christianity or Judaism, then Islam is the real law of your country.

37 Well, I'm just happy that Europe seem to be the incubator for a lot of ideas before they really take hold in terms of real world policy and consequences in America.

Multi-culturalism went pretty far in America, but we never imported an Islamic culture that's inherently antagonistic to Western ideals at nearly the same level as Europe did.

Of course, we have our own set of problems, but at least that one manifests itself much less menacingly in America than in Europe.

Islam was a brilliant invention.

Prior to Islam, the Arabian peninsula was divided along tribal lines, which kept them from being a threat to their neighbors.

Muhammed blended Judaism, Christianity and tribal beliefs into a perfect weapon to unify the people around him to stop fighting each other and start fighting collectively against everyone around them.

54 Conservative treehouse has an excellent article describing all the different compartmentalized intelligence groups what their specific duties are and how and in what order everyone from the president through the Congress can see these types of intelligence. Very educational for those of us who are non-military and have limited understanding of how the intelligence community's work. The article provides the argument that Nunes is doing exactly what he supposed to do and what he is permitted to do and how the Democrats are not doing their job and then using that nonperformance to attack Nunes.

Multi-culturalism went pretty far in America, but we never imported an Islamic culture that's inherently antagonistic to Western ideals at nearly the same level as Europe did.

Many Western cultures like the Greeks and romans allowed for multiculturalism, taking the ideas of the culture/religion of the new area of conquest and assimilating it. Which helped them flourish. This worked until there were simply too many cultures to assimilate properly.

Does Islam allow for multiculturalism? Middle East Muslims seem pretty much Mohammed's way or the highway. Are East Asian Muslims more permitting of multiculturalism than the middle eastern ones?

Back when personal computers first hit the scene the French government declared that, to save their precious culture, all keywords in programming languages had to be in French. So, the French were the only ones in the world that had to work around all of the languages in use at the time, and for no good reason ... other than to be obnoxiously French.

Personally, after seeing how the French stabbed us in the back after we saved their asses in the 20th century (and the one constant in French history is that they will always, eventually, stab their allies in the back, and usually for no payout more than just the thrill of being douchebags) I have no desire to save them, again. As I understand it, no. The requirement to emulate Mohammed is taken to mean not just his deeds -- slavery, murder, child rape, genocide -- but also his dress, diet, even language. So you have Pakistani Muslims who dress and dine more like Saudis or Yemenis than like Pakistani Hindus.

This seems to be a relatively recent development, but one with lots of cash behind it. It's starting in Indonesia, and has made in-roads in the Balkans.

Thing is, it's a different world than it was 100 years ago.

In 1917, when you moved to the US from Germany, communicating with the Old Country was difficult. You couldn't just jet over for a quick visit. You pretty much lived where you were, and assimilation was a given.

Today if I move here from Germany, I can text my relatives back home. Travel to and fro is pretty easy. Communication is instant. Thus there's really no incentive to assimilate. And thus I can get away with the attitude of "I'm not an American, I'm a German living in America."

I don't see it as childish - it's an attitude that until relatively recently in our history just wasn't allowed to germinate because of technical/structural constraints.

And more to the point- in the case you've cited, how in the hell is it any of Ireland's fault that there are these "refugees"? When's the last time Mike Higgins or Enda Kenney ordered a drone strike to blow up some wedding in Afghanistan?

146 Personally, after seeing how the French stabbed us in the back after we saved their asses in the 20th century (and the one constant in French history is that they will always, eventually, stab their allies in the back, and usually for no payout more than just the thrill of being douchebags) I have no desire to save them, again. I feel much safer with the French on the other side. As Patton allegedly said, "I'd rather have a division of Germans in front of me than a division of French behind me."

The French get a lot of credit for their role in the American Revolution, but realistically that was a bitchy way to get their own back on the British. Shortly after the Revolution, in a forerunner to the War of 1812, we almost went to war with France over their actions on the high seas against American ships.

150 138 Thing is, it's a different world than it was 100 years ago.

I think we can be both right.

Another point in response would be the assimilating culture...it should have strong enough principles to say "we're stronger because of this and this." There's too much bending over backwards in contemporary society to do that...the complaint is that such a thing is racist, insensitive to other cultures, and so on.

So there's little to no demand from the assimilating culture to, you know, assimilate.

Combine that with a rock solid conviction on the part of the immigrant that he is an angel in a den of devils, and it's a recipe for disaster.

344 This doom and gloom on France gets very tired. Macron is hardly Hollande, Fillon is a crooked opportunist of the worst sort and less of a rebel against the establishment than John McCain. The fact that the first round non Le Pen choice is between Macron and Fillon is proof of how fast France is moving to the right. Macron is actually better on the economy when considered from any informed American view and relatively fresh. Plus he is your classic third way leftist, but in France which is not at all like the US or UK. It would be easy to argue that by American standards to the right of Sarkozy, and he has no commitment to destroying France unlike the remnant of the Socialists he abandoned. He is no Vald.

As to Marine LePen, I am a right wing Catholic ultra who would be fine with bringing back the tithe, but I wouldn't vote LePen. Keep in mind that many of you reading this are protestant heretics and she and her niece have publicly, and repeatedly, compared the Reformation to the Nazis and the Arab invasions of the first millennium in such a way as to regard protestants as worse. France is barely a liberal country, and playing these illiberal games with it is dangerous.

she is an actual anti semite, wanting to ban kosher meat, the daughter of an actual fascist and fraudulent resistance fighter.

345 Get right down to it, NYC etal are staking their claim as a sort of Monte Carlo or Singapore, nation cities. Unfortunately for them, they forget to file the articles of secession. Honestly, strip away the bullshit and they are directly involved in an act of non-certified secession. Shit is going to get interesting if Sessions reads it this way.

346 Does Arafat's widow still live in France?

347 Had the opportunity to go to Paris for the first time last Fall. Beautiful city of course, but it definitely has a sense of unease since just sitting on a crowded sidewalk cafe is not just a spectator sport anymore, but can put you smack dab in the action as a sitting duck for some lathered up Allah Akbar nut job.

Hopefully the French pull themselves out of the deep hole they are in, and they are in a hole. Those No Go zones around Paris are very real. French Soldiers walk the streets of Paris with stern faces and fingers on the trigger of their assult rifles.

The French seem to me to be very proud of their history, heritage, and culture. It's worn on their sleeve daily in all their interactions. They are reaching a breaking point.
