Defying Moloch

"More! More!"

Planned Parenthood gets upset when impudent prolifers expose their charnel houses and threaten their revenue stream. Fortunately for PP, its allies in California government are more than willing to do them a solid:

On Tuesday, the state of California charged David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress on 15 felony counts over their undercover reporting regarding Planned Parenthood. In 2015, Daleiden and Merritt released video showing high-ranking Planned Parenthood members joking about selling baby body parts for market rates and picking through baby body parts in order to demonstrate which sorts of body parts were available for sale for medical research, as well as talking about the best methods of abortion for procuring those baby body parts. The California Department of Justice, under the auspices of now-Senator Kamala Harris, raided Daleiden’s home for footage in April 2016

The charges have to do with California laws governing taping private conversations and whether you need to get permission of both parties.

Apparently, the state's position is that a conversation in a public restaurant constitute private and confidential communication which is protected by these laws. Now, to normal people, this sounds ludicrous on its face and I hope Daleiden and Merritt will find a normal judge who agrees, but this is Democrat-controlled California, where the purpose of law is to not to enforce impartial justice but rather is a tool for progressives to punish their enemies.

For those of you morons who are believers, I encourage you to pray for Daleiden and Merritt. Their witness against the horrors perpetrated by Planned Parenthood has pissed off some very powerful people who will use whatever means they have at their disposal to destroy them. Fortunately, they worship a God who is greater than Moloch.

Meanwhile, according to the ABC-TV affiliate in Chicago, undercover video shows alleged animal cruelty at California poultry farms, slaughterhouse. No word yet on if the reporters covering this story would be subjected to criminal charges for secretly recording the videos that formed the basis for this story.

Update: Donations to the Center for Medical Progress, which presumably will be used to fight these silly charges, can be made here.

That's not exactly correct. The state's position is that Daleiden violated PC 632 by recording "conversations in which one of the parties has an objectively reasonable expectation that no one is listening in or overhearing the conversation," and I'm betting that PP didn't expect that their conversation was 'confidential.' You can't assume you're 'clear' to record because you're in a public place. I have a feeling Daleidin is SOL.

101 There is, presumably enough case law on the books in Commiefornia to undermine the veracity of these charges. I can only imagine a trial attorney going through videos similar to what you've pointed out as a starting point.

If it gets to the federal appeals level, things get even more interesting with constitutional issues. But It is the Ninth Numbnut Circuit, which could be problematic.

Doesn't Commiefornia have some statue that would eventually make wrongful prosecution a crime or punitive to the prosecution?

116 I've never actually been able to suss out why, except perhaps "It pisses off the God-botherers so it must be awesome."

Its about not having consequences. Abortion isn't the icon, sex is. Their lives are empty and meaningless, they have no hope or purpose. So they live for the next orgasm, those few fleeting moments where they can ignore the yawning chasm in their soul and feel fulfilled and comforted, if just for a little while. Babies and the thought of commitment, responsibility, and consequence to all this gives them the sadz and interferes with this pleasure.

Almost everything the left does is about this -- transgenderism etc (don't make people feel bad about their perversion). And they heap extra guilt on themselves in the process about their sins of racism, sexism, destroying the earth, etc. So they need that escape even more.

Its like a horrible mix of the worst of Judaism and Catholicism without any of the comforts or meaning they bring life.

Abortion is critical to this, it lets them have that tiny escape without fear of what comes of it. At least, they think so.

Yes, that's fairly SOP for Christians in leadership positions. Rev never meets with a woman alone, and won't allow a man or woman to be together alone inside the church either (say, setting up the worship music or getting the communion elements together, etc.)

It's said that Billy Graham would not even ride an elevator alone with a woman. He would wait until there was another man, or possibly his wife, before he would get on.

130 Planned Parenthood's popularity isn't about abortion, its about being a money laundering service and a donation mill. They shuffle money from the taxpayers into the pockets of politicians and activist groups. Its a way of getting the public to fund things they otherwise would not, by force of law, while PP gets rich in the process. Win/win.

You can't assume you're 'clear' to record because you're in a public place. I have a feeling Daleidin is SOL.

Depends on how they defend it. If they do so based on the legal protections that journalists get, they have a case that could easily go to the Supreme Court of the USA. Is a citizen journalist just as protected as a professional one working for a corporation?

Yeah its just wisdom in their position, and not just for Christians. You are vulnerable to attacks and misunderstandings, even if its perfectly innocent. Look at the rape trials in college campuses.

This is something that the book The Law of Perfect Freedom by Michael Horton really brought to my mind that I hadn't thought about previously.

Anything you do with another person than your spouse, which you should do only with your spouse, is wrong. Lean on them for the support and companionship only your spouse should have? Wrong. Spend time alone with them you should only do with your spouse? Wrong.

Sanctity means "set apart;" your behavior should be different and very careful when you're married, especially in modern culture.

42 U.S. Code 1983--
". . . a state officer can be sued in his official capacity for prospective or injunctive relief" if the person, like AG Becerra is
. . . "possessed by virtue of state law and made possible only because the wrongdoer is clothed with the authority of state law." and "a plaintiff may prevail only if he can demonstrate that he was deprived of rights secured by the United States Constitution or federal statutes. " Hmm--freedom of the press is protected.

The way to end lawfare such as this is to punch back twice as hard--put Becerra in the position of being deposed and sued. My guess is that he would think twice afterwards.

If AG Session is feeling particularly trollish, then 18 U.S. Code 242 allows federal criminal charges to be filed against state officials violating someone's rights under federal law and 18 U.S. Code 241 criminalizes conspiracy to deprive someone of their rights--PP and Calif AG? Grand jury time to investigate? Hmmm.

Kathleen Sibilius loved Tiller. She threw him galas at her mansion. Tiller donated a shit ton of money to Sibilus and Dem politicians in general.

So, when he faced prosecution for crimes he was clearly guilty of, Sibilius went after the conservative DA. Hard. She had him debarred. And of course the fix was in with the judge.

217 I have a theory that if the federal government stopped funding Planned Parenthood, the Democratic Party's all out love affair with abortion in general would begin to fade.

With federal funding, the organization would have much less cash to hand out (even with a sizable uptick in private donations), preventing it from funding as many politician campaigns as before. Fewer Democrats will be enthralled to the organization and its sole cause. Fewer Democrats will be wary of bucking the line on the issue of abortion.

It wouldn't go away (PP will keep funding politicians up as much as possible and there are many regular Democratic voters who believe that abortion is sacrosanct), but it would diminish, pushing the issue into the fringes of the party instead of being pretty much the central tenant of the party at large.

There is little the Congress can do to better the state of our nation than to cut off PP's funding.

Personally, I'd be OK with drawing the line at the Quickening when the baby shows independent movement -- about 14 weeks more or less. Politically, I believe it would get consensus.

The French use 12 weeks.

I have a theory that if the federal government stopped funding Planned
Parenthood, the Democratic Party's all out love affair with abortion in
general would begin to fade.

Lack of self-respect/respect for others, instant-gratification fulfillment, disregard of consequences, and irresponsibility characterize liberalism--abortion is an unfortunate manifestation. It'd continue without the PP funding.

230 If we had any REAL scientists interested in REAL research, they might wonder if maybe homosexuality is a byproduct of some other mental quirk.

Posted by: RKae at March 29, 2017 12:11 PM (4DpAT)

I doubt very much in today's highly-politicized environment that anyone would be able to do honest research on the causes of homosexuality. Because shut up.

No. The (futile) search continues.

In this and other areas, it's probably best that we realize we are primitive animals still. Which is to say, what drives our behavior is often the most basic, simple reasons, and our understanding of what those simple reasons are, is going to remain a near complete mystery for many generations still, because as simple as they are, they're incredibly complex.

Posted by: Lauren at March 29, 2017 12:25 PM (GWXF6)

The Gosnell atrocities were discovered when his office was raided for prescription drug crimes. (he was also dispensing oxys.)

The late term abortion prosecutions were a collateral consequence of a prescription drug sting.

232 Well the abortion industry is literally demonic. As in, they're all a bunch of Wiccans who use the babies they kill in demonic ceremonies.

It doesn't have to be that overtly religious. You can have a deep allegiance to Satan without even realizing it, doing his work and his worldview. Abortion, murder, peddling hard drugs, child porn, etc.

People say that, but will it really change anything? Will a conservative christian family really abort a child just because it's gay? I don't see that.

Liberals will abort their babies still for whatever reason; are they worried the left will abort gay babies? Wouldn't that be a hate crime?

CA already legalized child prostitution. We need to serve notice.

236 I was banned from a web site once because I proffered the notion that not all gays are gay for the same reason.

Some may have a biological quirk, others may have childhood trauma. But if they wind up on the same dance floor with the same mannerisms and desires, we refuse to see them as different.

Yeah. I was banned for that.

Apparently, it was OK to agree with one side or the other, and to continue the argument; but God FORBID you suggest that it's more complex than black and white!

Naw, it's about destroying motherhood - an integral part of the family unit, the best bulwark against the almighty State. You have to get women to reject that part of themselves, which is what Feminism (read" Marxism) is all about. They wouldn't suddenly embrace motherhood, what they view as an impediment to their independence and career, just because PP lost funding. Long past that point.

242 The solution to ending PP's hold on the Democrat party is to extend voting rights in utero for expectant mothers. All babies shall endow the mother with an additional vote at slightly lesser value, since not all babies are carried to term. The solution, as far as I can see is to look at what percentage of pregnancies are carried full term. In NYC for example it is something like 60%. So I think an additional 3/5ths vote should be granted to one or both parents during an election year.

If someone recorded by I-phone an important leftist committing an ax murder, they would find a way to twist the law to exonerate.

But if a Democrat operative catches Romney out with his 47% remark, then, "Job Well Done!"

I know they aren't totally analogous, but what the heck, if you're a Democrat the rules are not for thee.

This ^^

I always thought some enterprising young filmmaker should do a mockumentary about how "great" abortion is, and how safe. Why everybody should do it. Here's how it's done! Show actual footage of an abortion, show actual aborted fetuses of all ages and stages of development. Approach the subject matter like this is a great thing and run of the mill and "normal." Get quotes from the females undergoing the procedure as to how relieved they are after getting rid of that mass of "cells," and how great it will be to get back to regular sex at the singles bar.

253 There is a reasonable expectation of privacy standard which applies NOT to the speaker but to a disinterested reasonable bystander. When you are speaking in a public venue you lose that privacy because you can be overheard by others. Here, in California, we do not let the facts or the law get in the way of punishing citizens whose views are not in line with the homonormative open borders soft on crime and screw everybody with an honest job crowd.
