I didn't cover the big stories today because they bore me.

I don't care about the FakeNews Russia non-story, and I think the Tomi Lahren story is a contrived bit of outrage against someone people were already annoyed with for being a pretty contrived media concoction herself.

All I know is that whatever side Glenn Beck is on, I'm on the other side.

I did really like this Byron York story about how the cherished media myth that Trump re-wrote the Republican Party platform to be softer on Russia and its invasion of the Ukraine is a complete fiction.

Oh and last week's Meals on Wheels one-day Tweetstorm turns out to be a lie, and the latest attempted hit on Neil Gorsuch turns out to be bullshit too.

I didn't know that -- I've heard My Media Betters repeat this lie so often I just assumed it was true.

Not consciously assumed -- conscious assumptions can always be analyzed. It's the unconscious assumptions that never get analyzed, because you don't even realize you've assumed them.

And that's what the media's good at -- just repeating lies enough times that your brain accepts them without even really having engaged with them or investigated the claims.

18 Ace,

I unconsciously assume it's all bullshit until independently verified.

My wife came at me with the Meals on Wheels thing a few days ago, and I responded "isn't it a private charity? Why are we sending federal funds to it anyway?" And it turns out the funds threatened only "fund" MoW in the slightest way possible - only enough to *claim* to fund it as a defense against cutting the budget.

The team agreed to a one-year deal with veteran Josh McCown on Monday, according to his agent, Mike McCartney.

McCown visited the team over the weekend, with the team wining and dining him at Del Friscos in Manhattan on Saturday night. The deal is worth $6 million fully guaranteed, according to a source. It also has $2 million in play-time incentives and $5 million in team-based incentives.

The 37-year-old comes to the Jets after two years with the Browns, where he was 1-10 as the starter.

Oh don't tell Former Congressman Joe Walsh that because he's going to spend show after show after show after show after show after show whining and filling his Depends over the Russians hacking the election. And Jimmy Comey said they did it and there wasn't any surveillance of Trump and if anyone would know it would be Jimmy and he's not going to lie to us.

And then Joe can spend another show bitching about people tuning him out because they're sick to death of him going on and on about Trump and the Russians. But that's okay because he'll spend another show letting us know he doesn't care about ratings like conservative hacks like Hannity and Limbaugh. I just sincerely hope he's got something so he can give the legacy media a very public and blazing STRIKE TWO after the whole tax affair.

He should play them like this the whole time. Put a wiffleball on a tee, too good for them not to swing with all their heart, and then crank a real baseball deep into the outfield with the his evidence or records after letting the major networks freak out exposing themselves for 72 hours.

He will never, ever get a fair shake or a favorable angle. Might as well just feed them carefully crafted would-be hit pieces then out them for the hacks they are at every turn. Affirmatively discrediting them regularly is the absolute best he can do under the circumstances.

189 That was in a machine shop. The guy probably scrapped three parts and broke a machine just getting his toolbox to his truck

These stories run both ways.

I quit a job about ten years ago ... had my reasons. Handed my ID and keys to another supervisor and went to the locker room to fetch my shit.

They sent out some douche to tell me all about leaving the premises immediately - as I was pulling my clothes out of my locker to leave immediately. The rest of my shit was already in my truck.

Turns out - when you call their bluff and invite them to call county - those rent-a-cops just stand there. It get's funnier yet when they insist on an exit interview.

190 The annoying thing about Tomi Lahren is that she said she was going to go on speaking "my truth" which is that abortion is A-OK in her book. Now, that might be her opinion, but it's not "her truth." That's a lefty concept, to say you have your truth, I have mine, Joe Blow has his and they're all equally valid because truth is relative. And it's never applied consistently. Only some "truths" are allowed. Apparently, pro-lifers are hypocrites in her eyes because they have a different truth.

She's still young, I hope she'll figure that out.

Not consciously assumed -- conscious assumptions can always be analyzed. It's the unconscious assumptions that never get analyzed, because you don't even realize you've assumed them.

And that's what the media's good at -- just repeating lies enough times that your brain accepts them without even really having engaged with them or investigated the claims."

brooke shields was a thing way back when, in fact she was THE thing. her star has dimmed since then, although she's a trooper and has been performing and i just saw her in a recent made for tv movie.

her acting was just eh and unfortunately i don't think she's aged well. she's certainly not the paragon she was in "blue lagoon". but nobody was, certainly not the girl they got to play the shipwrecked teen in the "blue lagoon" sequel., which i also recently saw and it was forgettable.

but hold on! who was that actress in the sequel? why, none other than milla jovovich! and boy, she's aged really well and what a surprise, she's the big star! funny how things work out!

incidentally, a few years ago she said in an interview that the thing she's most proud of herself is her legs! good call! but now i think she'd say her kids since she's become a mother. all round, a good egg.

i like milla jovovich.

CaliGirl - believe you have a "gun guy" up there, definitely rely on him for details. Don't know when the feature/feature-less deadline is. But you'll have to have a fixed stock, no pistol grip (various solutions to this), no flash-hider (what you're calling a suppressor), and ..... see, I already forget.

I'm building "featureless", so I should know the whole list, but think I'm forgetting something. Actually online at CalGuns there's a "flow chart" for all this - if you towards the end of it, you'll see a box for rifles that "don't have X, Y, Z, etc." - that right there gives you your forbidden list.

367 Jackal, I think the real-world situation in Ukraine/Russia has been the main factor behind the drying up of 54R surplus. Don't think any import restrictions per se are at play.

And Grump, are those carbines eligible for CMP? They only get returns of MAP (mil. assistance program) govt-govt lent equipment, I think. I thought South Korea owned all the M1s (both kinds) they have - and further that they're not in very good shape. Unless my premises are wrong, we're talking commercially imported guns, and maybe really "parts" guns, not any beauties like my HRAs (which I think are Greek Air Force returns).

1/1/2018. As messy as it is, go to calguns.net and read up. The "flowchart" mentioned above is outdated and *can't* be updated because the new regulations haven't been published yet.

Magazine ban 7/1/2017.

They aren't going to stop there, of course. As long as they have power, they will use it to control you.

As far as removing features, that usually means flash hider, pistol grip, detachable magazine, collapsible or folding stock, front vertical grip, accessories like flare or grenade launchers.

I stress again the new regulations haven't been published.
