Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, March 18, 2017. On this day in 1968 after years of war spending, Great Society spending, and huge deficits congress was forced to remove the US from gold backing.

I also have an agency-issued radio and SS I.D. pins. I believe I will just leave these things on the seat of my unlocked car while I pop into my Brooklyn home. I'm sure that would be fine. Whoopsie, some bad man just got out of a vehicle, walked straight over to my car, stole all of these items and vanished in broad daylight, in what neighborhood witnesses described as a targeted burglary. The latest robberies took place about 1:50 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street and about 1:25 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Adams...

My main smoker rig is a home built. When we were living in Kristiansand my kid came out of the woods with a stainless steel tank out of a water heater. My buddy and I built the classic style horizontal pit with an end mounted fire box. Everything on the rig is stainless steel. We shipped it to Scotland when we moved and then to Texas finally. It's thirty years old now. Today some pico de gallo infused pork links are going on it before the band jam this afternoon. I like the way Saturday is shaping up.

Two hours before the grill/smoker is ready? In two hours I can light the fire, cook dinner, eat dinner, do dishes, and be snoozed out on the sofa. The trick? Lump hardwood charcoal (NOT briquettes) and a chimney starter. Fifteen minutes, tops, from striking a match to throwing the steaks on hot coals; ten minutes more and it's suppertime. Sure, barbecuing (smoking) takes hours, but that's a different story.

This looks like a great smoker and slow cooker, but certainly not the best. While I would (and will) buy this cooker so that I can address high volume smoking needs, a ceramic smoker such as the Green Egg or Kamado Joe is simply superior in all aspects. Expensive for sure, but turns swine and other meats into magnificent works of culinary art. The drawback on the ceramic is surface volume which limits the amount of meat you can cook. A good rule of thumb is one large turkey, or two 12 pound butts per grill.

Burned half my pasture last night, and helped a neighbor burn her large brush pile. We had still air, a rarity in Kansas. All done, with no problems.
Alas, pasture burning is not any euphemism of spousal maintenance terms. To keep pasture cedar tree free, and to promote growth of good plants, you have to burn. Cows get 15% more protein from native grasses that grow after a burn. Posted by: NaCly Dog at March 18, 2017 07:46 AM (u82oZ) 95
If you have access to apple, cherry, or other fruit tree clippings, a handful of golf pencil-sized twigs tossed on the edge of the coals just prior to putting the meat on the grill will add a wonderful taste to grilled meat. Close the lid for the first few minutes, then grill as usual.

___________________ Of course. The French cops obviously violated the terrorist's U.S. constitutional rights. He was on his way to apply for a U.S. visa, so he could come here and kill a bunch of American infidels. Now he won't be able to exercise his constitutional right to enter the U.S., like all the other foreign terrorists. In the lowlands of middle upstate New York local legend has it that young people who venture into the mists late at night could fall under the spell of a mysterious creature known only as the Swamp Thing of Chappaqua. Lulled into a state of deep ennui, the Swamp Thing's victims fall into a deep sleep, only to awaken hours later by the side of a road, abused and aching with an empty wallet and an "I'm With Her" campaign button pinned to their naked chest.
Descriptions of the creature vary widely from the hysterical victims, but consensus seems to suggest that the creature is bug-eyed, with jagged yellowed teeth, jowls like an English bulldog and an unimaginabble girth, shaped like a side of beef. Its speech is largely unintelligible, but one young man who commented only on the condition that his identity remain secret, tells us that the creature intones in a vaguely Southern drawl, "Ah ain't no ways re-tahrrd." and "B-b-b-b-but I was up by five points in Florida". Old timers in the area claim that the creature is the resurrected ghost of a former small-time politician's wife whose career died long ago but who keeps reappearing every several years with a vow to come out of the woods once again and ravage the countryside. Beware! Posted by: Muldoon at March 18, 2017 08:11 AM (wPiJc) 121
You too can become an evil landlord:
"Multnomah County has a new idea to fight homelessness: Build tiny houses in people's backyards and rent them out to families with children now living on the street." Once they are in a pay rent for a month it will take two years to get them out, along with their 14 relatives. This sounds like a really great idea. "SS agent says Trump is not safe in the WH remarking on incompetent agents who watched an intruder for 15 min." There are always two excuses used when the left gets caught out. Way ahead of you, pal. I've been not voting for* McCain for decades. IMO, he does a great job of representing the State of John McCain, while we pay him to represent the State of Arizona. True story: Son-of-ActionJackson and I made it to a D-Backs Spring Training game a couple of weeks ago, and as we entered the ballpark, we walked right past McCain on his way to his seat. It was all I could do to not stop him and berate him on any of a dozen or so topics. He ended up in a box seat in full view of the third base bench, and he spent the whole time he was there in a conversation with others in the box (as opposed to actually watching the game). After making an appearance of 3 innings, he was gone. * I did vote "for" him in 2008 when he was running for president against a Marxist. IMO, after his loss to him, McCain missed a great opportunity to retire. We are all the poorer for it.
