Obama Administration officials set up Jeff Sessions' meeting with the Russian Ambassador. Oops. Evidently, all that botox is interfering with Pelosi's memory. Photo contradicts Pelosi's statement about not meeting Kislyak. Moving forward, it is painfully obvious that some serious house cleaning needs to happen in many departments. Did the Obama Administration try stacking the deck against Trump as the Justice Department? Of course they did. One wonders what information is flowing back to him now from the DoJ, IRS, NSA, etc. It's not inconceivable that the pandemonium of an incoming Trump administration might have meant they would overlook a little-noticed change. Sessions could have recused himself thinking the old line of succession was intact, only to have Phillips appoint a rabid special prosecutor to go after the Trump administration on Russia the next day before the Trump administration could undo things. As soon as it was evident Boentes was going to be handling any Russian investigations, Schumer called on him to appoint a special prosecutor.Hollyweird Yeah, I don't think hiring a few more folks will stop ISIS recruiting. It almost comes off as a threat. Actor says put muslims on TV or they will join ISIS. Vietnamese Tactical Stick The sensor-laden ring isn't a condom itself, but sits over the base of your preferred prophylactic. Put it on, "get it on," and learn about metrics like the average velocity of thrusts, frequency of sessions, average skin temperature, and other details you probably don't need to know about. After bedroom activity dies down, you can pair the ring's data with the i.Con app via Bluetooth for further analysis.Feminists So, not a peep from the white dress crowd or those wearing pussy hats? Dem Congressman makes misogynistic joke, feminists silent. No one will take your silly asses seriously (already hard enough with the 'gina suits and pussy hats) if you can't be bothered to condemn one of your own for saying something that usually sends you fleeing to a safe space and/or into an uncontrolled rage on twitter or something. There are so many great comments by all y'all every day. My favorite today:
Well, some of it has to do with old fashioned corruption and incompetence. The site of the airport is on land that CO's biggest lobbyist owned - fancy that! Then there's the fact that part of the land is geologically unstable. My favorite is the hideous bronco statue that the artist milked the govt. extra thousands of dollars to finish that fell on him and killed him. around a year ago or so i said that obama's "fundamental change" of america was to fundamentaly politicize the federal bureaucracy as an arm of the left by stocking the agencies, the its, doj, spa, doe, hud, etc. with activists with a purpose. i asked what could be done about what is now called the "deep state":now at war with trump. one wag said abolish the agencies. point taken. but now you all see the seriousness of the problem, and we've only scratched the surface.

It doesn't have your standard curb idle adjust, but it does have what you mention. I did try that and no luck.
Hope I'm not being too unclear. 1997 KA24E. Posted by: Tilikum Killer Assault Whale at March 03, 2017 10:20 PM (hVdx9) Got it! I am familiar with the predecessor to that engine, the NAPZ 22, which had a carburetor. Yours is sequential port EFI. Sounds like whatever is supposed to set the curb idle at 650 RPM (or whatever the spec is) isn't doing its job, and the engine is falling back to the idle speed set by the rest position of the throttle. I would look closely for any sign of an idle air bypass, or idle throttle positioner, and try to determine if such a thing, if found, is functional. If it's not setting a code, then presumably the ECM is getting normal signals from the sensors that tell it to go into idle mode, so the problem most likely lies with whatever actuators are invoked. Best I can do from here. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 03, 2017 10:32 PM (WDdjT) Posted by: Country boy - etc. etc. at March 03, 2017 10:32 PM (Jcg9Q) 120

Crew was working on an electrical panel, more or less facing me, about 50 yards away, on the rig. There was a brilliant flash, a loud bang, and this ping-pong ball sized sphere of brilliant white light came bouncing towards me, and went Poof! and disappeared before it got near me. I could have easily dodged it, since it was wasn't moving fast. No trace left. There was about a half-inch hole burned in the shell of a 480 volt 3-phase plug. They replaced the plug, and the socket, and all was good again. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 03, 2017 10:53 PM (WDdjT) 198

One day when I was hiking there, I saw two lovely ladies in equestrian attire riding their horses, and I chatted with them. I remarked that before then all I had seen in the Old Country was London. One of them said, "This is *proper* England." I could not hold back my smile. Victoria is beautiful as well, and while pricey, it is also small, so you can take in the sights in a short time. . . . and then there's eastern Europe. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon **** It doesn't have your standard curb idle adjust, but it does have what you mention. I did try that and no luck. I remember one of the big selling points of digital tech in the 1980s: "no more tape hiss!"
But the tradeoff was that no provision was, or is, made whatsoever for overmodulation. In analog you get a popping/farting sound, in digital you get deafening shrieks. So for digital, you *always* have to under-record if you want to avoid those issues. A little annoying but at least Audacity has an "amplify" feature that lets you fix it in post, as it were. Well, any computer, or even a smart phone is now a DAT machine; except there is no tape, just a memory chip. So the entire process of converting a signal to a magnetic field, impressing that field on a domain of tape, and then reading it back (rinse and repeat a few thousand times per second) is rendered redundant.

SMFh - I've mentioned before one of those old GPW dudes who was a combat engineer in a penal battalion. They used to hunt tanks with those ptrs41 rifles, satchel charges, mines wired to a board, molotovs, and sheer desperation. 'Better than a bullet in the head,' as he said. 'We might survive killing a tank. '

Anna, my experience in the 1980s?
Short version (or, as short as I can make it, I can literally go on for hours about it): I got involved with Lakewood public access TV. At the same time, it was already up and running and they had started an Emmy-style *awards ceremony*, to honor producers who were already there, and had produced especially high-quality programming. (Bear in mind, "high-quality was a VERY relative term for what we were doing.) I had to have some surgery in the summer of 1986, and while recuperating in bed at home, I watched these awards... since they were for Lakewood, they were called, I kid you not, the "Woody Awards." (And yes, I have two of them from later on. But back to the story...) Well, one of the winners was a sister-brother team. Won't list their last names, but their firsts were Mara and Stan. And guess what? I thought Mara was literally a vision. Well, I was a student at Long Beach City College and didn't feel "ready" to join public access TV in Lakewood... but I did want to learn more about production and filmmaking. So I took an Intro to Film Production class at LBCC, starting in August 1986. I walk into the classroom on the first day, and who is sitting in there already? Mara. I literally almost fell down. I was afraid to talk to her. I finally did though, three weeks later. We hit it off! Then the following week, she brought Stan, who announced he wanted to do a movie using Lakewood's public access equipment. The following year I (a) joined Lakewood public access, (b) started working with Mara and Stan on their movie, and (c) suffered from the worst hopeless crush ever on Mara, who promptly fell for a jerky guy from the Lakewood High School wrestling team, and was an extra in the film. The rest I can finally summarize somewhat: the shoots became too much like parties; Stan turned into Michael Cimino and spent way too much time shooting; the city went nuts when other producers complained, and confined him to one last shoot to finish, which Stan (and the rest of his followers, including me) were not happy with. So we got to our last shoot, at Artesia High School in Lakewood. Stan wanted to shoot a final scene for the movie, which took place on a then-brand-new Honda scooter. Then two more things went wrong: (a), Stan kept us there ALL NIGHT even though he wasn't supposed to, shooting. And (b), Mara-- joyriding on the scooter with friends, before it was to be used in the shoot... SMASHED this scooter into a brick wall at the school. So it was unusable, more or less. What happened from there? Mara found out about my crush and became afraid of me; her boyfriend started threatening me; and Stan spent another long period of time trying to edit the thing. To this day I've never seen the finished product. And I ended up definitely not-friends with Stan and Mara later on, for reasons that I will explain in another post on another night. Sorry for the wall of text. Again believe it or not, this is the *short* version. Posted by: qdpsteve at March 03, 2017 11:51 PM (u8kLQ) 379

It was the 1980s, but I *never* knew any woman who wore hosiery as often as Mara did. Posted by: qdpsteve at March 04, 2017 12:19 AM (u8kLQ) 454

One of my favorite stories about the Colonel: I took my angel shooting and he came along, as was the custom with us at the time - chaperone, dontcha know. I was teaching her how to fire her CZ52 - I'd gotten her one for her birthday, after watching her bat her eyelashes at me every time we would fire mine. The Colonel asks to fire my pistol. He empties the magazine in a nice, tight group, and says, 'It's a good pistol. If you miss, the blast will make him deaf, and the flash will blind him and set his clothes on fire, and then you can beat him to death with it.' It was the first time he'd ever joked with me about anything. My angel, by contrast, loves that round. She presses the trigger - bang! **fireball** school-girl giggle. Adorable. I am buying this one for sure:
'War is the most important thing in the world', writes Martin van Creveld, one of the world's best-known experts on military history and strategy. The survival of every country, government, and individual is ultimately dependent on war - or the ability to wage it in self-defence. That is why, though it may come but once in a hundred years, it must be prepared for every day. When it is too late-when the bodies lie stiff and people weep over them-those in charge have failed in their duty. Nevertheless, in spite of the centrality of war to human history and culture, there has for long been no modern attempt to provide a replacement for the classics on war and strategy, Sun Tzu's The Art of War, dating from the 5th or 6th century BC, and Carl von Clausewitz's On War, written in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars. What is needed is a modern, comprehensive, easy to read and understand theory of war for the 21st century that could serve as a replacement for these classic texts. The purpose of the present book is to provide just such a theory. http://tinyurl.com/hk5nbjo Posted by: logprof at March 04, 2017 12:59 AM (GsAUU) 539

The tobacco varieties are grown for flavor and texture only, and not to be "smooth", going down the ol' windpipe. The flavors can be incredible, and even the texture of the smoke itself can vary greatly between blends. Cigars exactly parallel wines, that there are concentrated and priceless growing regions, famous cultivars, insanely talented blenders, master rollers, vintage years and an endless variety of interplay between all that, and more. If I can learn someone's tastes in foods, drink, snacks and desserts, I can likely choose for them, a cigar which they'd find acceptable to their individual palate. Throwing an expensive cigar at someone, is like giving a newbie a Magna-Blaster 88 Magnum. Might thrill you, might scare the shit outta them, though. Introducing someone interested in the art of the cigar, also parallels the shooting world. Just as the .22 LR is a gentle, easy, non-overwhelming cartridge for the beginner, so also are the milder cigars such as Macanudo and such. Giving someone without a mature tastes in cigars, a Cohiba or Ghurka, is just plain foolishness, a waste of money, and likely results in turning a likely enthusiast into an ardent rejector of the Fellowship of the Leaf. Reminds me. I've gotta order in some new El Cubano Cigars. My humidors runneth under. Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at March 04, 2017 01:11 AM (v5iqM) 558

I was using a cigar, and quite a fine one, as a punk to light the fuses, and I launched a rocket, and it went in the wrong direction. I took a step forward to better view where it landed, in case remedial action was required, and toppled over. Did I mention that I was standing in a terraced garden? I put my right arm out to check my fall, and landed right on it, on the next lower level of concrete wall. I knew instantly that I had busted something, as I could feel the broken bones grating in my wrist. Tona beer might have been involved, too. The doctor in Managua was great. I skip all the ritual on the cigar lighting, save for the following.
Don't apply the flame to the cigar, and start sucking on the damn thing. Sucking in the butane fumes is not a good thing. Just apply the heat, and toast it till it's well and truly lit. Second, first couple puffs, are out through the cigar, and not drawing the smoke with a pull. Gets rid of the last of the butane by products. Then, just enjoy. No need for Holy Cedar Strip wooden lighting matches, warming it up, etc. All that ritual might make sense at the Davidoff store at their palatial London showroom. From the last thread, where I dozed off...
No Escape with Ray Liotta about the futuristic Devil's Island prison, or No Escape with Owen Wilson about the revolution in the unnamed asian country? I assume the latter. I think that was a clever idea for a movie. It's horror, it's a thriller, yet it's all grounded in very real reality. This stuff does happen. Yes Ace, you got it, the Owen Wilson one. Of course, the Social Justice Warriors savaged it for suggesting that a developing nation might suddenly descend into chaos and that westerners would be targeted. Interesting backstory on the movie. I think the scripter got the idea because this actually happened to him, when the coup in Thailand happened. I don't mean the thriller chases, of course. But the fear of "What the hell are we going to do?" and the fear that as a westerner he might be targeted. I think they filmed in some other country near Thailand. But they didn't want to say which one. I think wikipedia says they used two different Asian scripts for signage, to disguise where this was supposed to be happening. Didn't love the "International Running Dog Capitalists" did it explanation -- why does this need an explanation? More interesting (and scary) to prove NO EXPLANATION. "Sometimes shit just happens for no rhyme or reason" is an inherently scary thought. But of course they had to put that in to appease the SJWs, who were not appeased at all, and attacked the film as anti-asian and xenophobic and Privileged By Whiteness. Cedar is a fine wood, but it contain essential oils that are inimical to animal (and insect life). Burning cedar vaporizes some of those oils, and gets them into the cigar smoker's bloodstream. Cedar poisoning is a thing, really. Best way to light a cigar is off a coil of nichrome wire heated by six volts of electricity from the cigar lighter socket on a '51 Studebaker Commander. Makes sense to me. No core principles, two examples: (1)Demanding free speech for their ideas, while shouting down the opposition. (2) wanting choice (flaunting that desire) but wanting it all-- i.e., achieving a degree in women's studies, then decrying that their not paid the same as men... hey, cookie, you made your choice, live with it! A good InfaRed laser would be the ideal cigar lighter.
Direct energy transfer, with no non-cigar combustion by-products in the process, whatsoever. Just hold the cigar well away from your face, and be careful to not point the lighter at your hands. Pshaw! Cedar is a fine wood, but it contain essential oils that are inimical to animal (and insect life). Burning cedar vaporizes some of those oils, and gets them into the cigar smoker's bloodstream. Cedar poisoning is a thing, really.
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 04, 2017 01:44 AM (WDdjT) I used to work with Spanish cedar a lot with the classical guitars for necks, linings, and back bracing. Damn that is some nasty ass shit. That dust gets anywhere near your mouth and you'll taste it for hours. Even when fully cured, if you slice a piece and let it sit for a week or so you will see little areas where the oils seep out of the pores. I started using mahogany instead. Ref USAF bomber pilots.
In the 1950s and 60s they wore pirate style eyepatches. so they could still fly after one nuke flash. They also had thermal curtains over the cockpit windows that would reduce the flash. They were probably flying on instrutments mostly so the loss of visibility wasn't critical. I suppose when USAF switched to low level penetration tactics the thermal curtains had to go! When you see the training videos for 1950s and 60s bomber pilots telling them how a nuclear war would play out you're stupefied. Posted by: Arthur Kimes at March 04, 2017 02:32 AM (2Sbr5) 615

The Daily Mail is reporting the Rex Tillermon is concerned that if the US backs out of the Paris climate agreement, it will damage international confidence in "America's commitment to diplomatic promises'.
Tillermon should heed Trumps words that he is the leader of the US and will put the US first. Those diplomatic promises Tillermon is so reported to be worried about were made contrary to the interests of the US. They were based on lies and/or deceit. Also, reports that Ivanka takes the same positions (for whatever reason she may have, I don't care) will lead to become a mark of disgrace that could undermine all of the goodwill she currently has from supporters of her father. A suggestion for Vic. I recall from cold weather training drinking warm jello. High in calories, and liquid. A package of jello is a cup or two of liquid, and nearly 400 calories.

I've only fired four shots with a 1911, but was amazed at how accurate it was. Made even me, a beginner, look good.
Weasel's been training me with his Sig P239 9mm, and I'm very fond of it. Jim says, though, that I need to try a LOT of 9mm's before I find the one for me. Like true love, you know it when you find it. The latter is my simile, not Jim's :-) I have a liberal classmate on FB who is utterly freaked out by this gun stuff. It gave me evil pleasure to post a video of me firing an AR-15. Which was actually much easier to sight with than the Uzi. Posted by: Miley, the Duchess at March 04, 2017 03:43 AM (tHwdc) 635

What got me into the east bloc weapons was how very cheap and very good they were. Of course, supply started to dry up by shortly after 2000 or so. Now, it's nostalgia, stubbornness, and familiarity that keep me shooting them. My two pistols were built in '54. I've got spare parts, thank goodness, but someday I'll need a machinist's help, I know.

Tilikum Killer Assault Whale,
Not sure if your Nissan is set up the same as a late 90s Honda Civic 5 speed, but it almost sounds like the issue I had with my idle air control valve, sitting at a light with my foot on the brake, the idle would drop from around 900rpm to between 100-200 rpm , right on the verge of stalling, if I set the parking brake and pumped the brakes a few times the idle would come up, I ended up taking my IACV apart and cleaning it out and have had no further issues, I've also read that if you have vacuum assist brakes and the vac line to the assist is old and leaky, it can cause the same sort of symptoms, YMMV , just some things to check I guess. "Is the FBI Director being forthcoming enough with the intelligence committees?" Mitchell asks. Sen. Coons replies, "I think it's important that the outcome of that counter-intelligence investigation be fully shared with the intelligence committees, both in the House and the Senate.
"There are transcripts that provide very helpful, very critical insights into whether or not Russian intelligence and senior Russian political leaders, including Vladimir Putin, were cooperating, were colluding with the Trump campaign at the highest levels to influence the outcome of our election. And if that information is stonewalled or hidden away and if we are not able to get that on the Senate intelligence committee, House intelligence committee then I think that has real consequences for our democracy." Sen. Coons then urged Director Comey to complete the investigation and share all of the "products" with the intelligence committees. Andrea Mitchell then asked Coons to clarify what he was saying. "Do such transcripts exist? Is that what you're saying?" she asked. "I have not seen them. I believe they exist," Coons replied. ... what ever happened to separation of church and state ? Zinke joined the U.S. Park Police at their stables on the National Mall and then rode a 17-year-old Irish sport horse named Tonto to the Interior Department headquarters. Nine other park police on horseback accompanied the former Montana congressman and Navy SEAL. Interior Department spokeswoman Heather Swift said: "Secretary Zinke was proud to accept an invitation by the U.S. Park Police to stand shoulder to shoulder with their officers on his first day at Interior." Zinke posted photos on social media. It is illegal to smuggle weapons into Sweden, but items classified as explosives are fair game. Criminal gangs are taking full advantage while politicians struggle to figure out how to change the law to reflect current trends.
The number of attacks may seem relatively low, with an increase from 10 detonations in 2015 to 27 last year, according a police report released Monday. Police still warn that the trend stands out among "comparable countries" without an ongoing war. The report says grenades have become the weapon of choice for criminal gangs for their availability, cheap price and low risk of prosecution.
