This ONT Has No Title

As the moon crested the distant horizon, the world renowned blogger sat down at his Alienware Aurora computer, powered by a 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-7700 Processor, and using the fingers located at the ends of each of his dexterous hands, began to write the ONT. “Strange”, he mused, as he peered out the window, observing the moon perched on the ocean like a giant goldfish on a parakeet's swing, “This isn't where I thought I'd be ten years after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, the unheralded jewel in the Ivy League's crown. How perspicacious it all seems.”

moonrise.jpg

Don’t make fun of renowned Dan Brown

I'll try, but gosh it's just so easy. Dan Brown's 20 worst sentences. Of course, the guy is worth a gazillion dollars, and I'm worth...somewhat less, so what do I know? I'm occasionally asked if I've ever read any of Brown's works, and the answer is no, because they're written like the first paragraph of the ONT. Scott Turow is another one. I did read Presumed Innocent, and all I could think of as the protagonist's [spoiler] was torturing [spoiler] was “Man, [spoiler] is lucky she's not being treated like Turow is treating the English language here”.

More Literary Fun

Contains Sulfites

Didja ever wonder what it would be like if a hoity-toity wine critic reviewed wino wine? This guy did, and it's hilarious.

This must be what the winos drink to relive the high points of their childhood. The nose comes on rich and festive-bubble gum, boardwalks, Banana runts. Gusts of cotton candy. But when one searches for subtlety-perhaps a rumor of Disney cartoons, maybe a funhouse undertone-it is absent. Brandon detected something sinister beneath the fun, suggesting the wine smelled "very like the liquid peppermint sedatives a pedophile pediatrician might give a toddler."

I better stop, or Oregon Muse is going to think I'm angling to steal his Sunday morning gig.

SCIENCE!

Watch Velvet Worms Fire Their Slime Cannons

I just like the article's title, although the video at the link is fascinating. A physicist attempting to model the fluid dynamics of liquid as it moves in a stream found that these prehistoric worms were a perfect real life example. Interesting stuff.

Also from the animal kingdom:

British parrot missing for four years returns speaking Spanish. When asked where he'd been, the parrot replied “¡Chinga tu madre, cabrón! ”. He then brandished a little parrot knife.

Troll Level: Master

It's always fun to troll corporate social media accounts.

Safeway.jpg

Related: Racism Simulator “This extension swaps the groups being written about on HuffingtonPost, Salon, Buzzfeed, Jezebel, and Gawker to show how much racism, sexism, and outright nastiness they get away with because they chose to target an "oppressor" group.” Lots of fun for the SJW in your life!

On the other hand there's this:

Review.jpg

I don't think that's a troll at all, it's probably just someone who is not sure how the Amazong works. The two people who found the review helpful, however....

News From The World of Abattoirs

Peter Singer Says an Intellectually Disabled Person is Less Valuable Than Animals Disgusting, disgusting man. I don't normally celebrate the death of other people, but when Singer goes to hell I'll make an exception. Truly a vile human that the world will be better off without.

Thanks to Screening and Abortion, We Are Heading Toward a ‘Down Syndrome-Free World’ Singer probably got a big ole' hard on when he got this news. Iceland has “cured” an affliction by murdering the afflicted. I'm sure Tacitus would have plenty to say about such a “victory”.

What do those people who could be “cured” by elimination think of all this? Some of them are speaking out:A Disabled Lawmaker Speaks Out About Abortion: ‘People Like Me’ Are Facing Extinction Kudos to Lord Shinkwin for speaking up, but this next link is magnificent.

Pro-Lifer, 16, Hailed as Planned Parenthood’s ‘Worst Nightmare’

I know this video is nine minutes long, but it's nine minutes of pure, unadulterated, chrome wheeled, fuel injected, steppin' out over the line awesome. Seriously. I stood in front of my computer and cheered, clapping until my hands hurt, when I watched this.

If children like this are our future, in a hundred years I really do believe that mankind will view abortion the way we view slavery today.

For the leftists who can't or won't realize what a horror abortion is, I'm glad this is becoming a trend. Why millennials are becoming proud plant parents. Let them teach their hyacinths to worship death as they do. Mankind is better off with them not reproducing.

Cool

Bah, enough of that. This is neat.

Back here in America, an escaped convict in Louisiana led police on a chase at speeds up to 115 MPH. They deployed spike strips, and the convict lost control of the truck he was driving, veering off the road before hitting an embankment and becoming airborne. He landed on a Toyota whose occupant was miraculously unhurt. Luckily there is footage of the incident, which I swear that I have not altered in any way, shape or form. Nope, not me. Never would I ever. Honest.

51 Very interesting is the symbology employed on this blog.

The black spade symbol has a curvaceous shape, evoking the sacred feminine.

The skull suggests a homicidal agenda, typically associated with the albino monks of the Opus Dei order.

Heh. I'm sure that Oprah is just the thing to win back the upper mid-west for the Dems.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did it. They have not yet come to terms with the reality that they have to win back working class white people - the Reagan Democrats - if they want to be competitive again. It is looking like they won't before 2018 either. Maybe loosing a lot of seats in the Senate will wake them up, or hopefully, maybe not. They might just keep up their strategy of winning with a majority of special interest minorities through 2020.

Gerrymandering is a political tradition in America, dating back to the time of the Founding Fathers--and going back in before that for centuries in England. It is considered an ugly thing--at least by those out of power--that is seen as "partisan". This is why (allegedly) non-partisan redistricting commissions made up of (allegedly) uninterested regular folk are so popular. And now, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) wants to mandate by Federal law that states create their own (allegedly) non-partisan redistricting commissions for Congressional districts according to the dictates of Federal law (H.R. 1102)... or else.

There was this guy who knew astronomy stuff and he looked up into the night sky and saw the moon on fire like that and he knew then that the sun had exploded, or at least flared up. 136 @WeirdDave,

My wife and I were out eating last week and sat next to a family where the youngest daughter had a fairly mild case of Downs Syndrome. She looked to be 2 or 3. We struck up a conversation with the family (this IS Texas) and took photos of them with one of their phones. They were a nice family and it was obvious that they loved each other.

After they left, I told my wife that the little girl was the first pre-teen I've seen with Downs Syndrome in years.

Thanks for the stories and the touching video.

164 A couple thoughts about Korea: First, the video makes them look like a very orderly society. They are not, not really. You buy a ticket for a seat on a bus and when the bus arrives, everyone is jostling or position to get on first even though they already have an assigned seat. It's a small country with a lot of people but the only ones that know how to get in a real line are schoolkids. Second, all those tunnels like the one in the video are all built to easily collapse in the event of war.

173 re: Sessions

It's just slanted bs.

In January, Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) asked Sessions for answers to written questions. "Several of the President-elect's nominees or senior advisers have Russian ties. Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day?" Leahy wrote.

Sessions responded with one word: "No."

Justice officials said Sessions met with Kislyak on Sept. 8 in his capacity as a member of the armed services panel rather than in his role as a Trump campaign surrogate.

"He was asked during the hearing about communications between Russia and the Trump campaign - not about meetings he took as a senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee," Flores said.

She added that Sessions last year had more than 25 conversations with foreign ambassadors as a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, including the British, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Indian, Chinese, Canadian, Australian and German ambassadors, in addition to Kislyak.

Posted by: @votermom @vm at March 01, 2017 09:39 PM (Om16U)

This is one of my hobby-horses. Thomas Malthus did not say that populations will crash as they outstrip their resources, he said that populations that do not have social and economic constraints will expand un-controlled and will wind up outstripping their resources and will reduce their population through famine, disease and strife.
He also points out that the social constraints exist already in society, and any attempt to do away with them or do away with the risks they guard us against will cause us great harm

I always ask the people who talk about "Scary quotes Malthus" actually read the source material. At least the first part of On Population, understanding that the argument against Candorcet and Goodwind may be old stuff.

This is an extremely important work, and the arguments in it, written in 1795, are the arguments we are having today, with the same solutions

244 #191: Oprah has actually said recently that she hasn't run for President before just because she didn't have the experience for it, but she's now rethinking that because Trump won.

"What has he got that I don't have?", she's apparently thinking.

Well, maybe a political philosophy that doesn't revolve around a book of the month and "You get a car, and you get a car, and you get a car... everyone gets a car!"

And she's not the only one; plenty of other vapid liberal celebrities are openly talking about maybe running in 2020. Yeah, Oprah, Jay-Z, Mark Cuban... Please, do run. Let the lefties believe that they can duplicate Trump's success by riding on your backs.

Posted by: Insomniac at March 01, 2017 10:27 PM (0mRoj)

======

I understand it is just a recruiter, but those that have treated a recruiter call like an interview call have had their resumes land in my inbox, so....suggestions for all interview type calls:

1. Wake up at least an hour before the call, get ready and dressed as if you are going to the office.
2. Talk to yourself a lot before the call and drink water. If you get up and are silent, your voice will sound like you just got out of bed.
3. Walk around while talking. It helps to sound energized. A recruiter does not know a lot about your possible position. Let them know you do.
4. Fake it. Act as if you are doing them a favor by taking their call, because you are. You are their product.

It all sounds pretty basic and common sense, but you would be surprised how uncommon all that is any more.

Ya aren't supposed to give away the ending. It is supposed to be a surprise. You lead the reader in a different direction and then twist the plot and surprise him. That is why the villain is never dead until you have killed him three times. That is why the hero never dies, because when the hero dies, the story is over, and everyone is sad. Nobody likes a sad ending, except maybe the Greeks.

342 As of Tuesday evening, 225 companies -- mostly construction and engineering firms -- have expressed interest in building the wall

I was saving this for the book thread but it fits here.

I bought one of those (there are many) 99c compilations of the works of Jules Verne which had the book "From the Earth to the Moon." Written in 1865, I thought it was hilarious. It reminded me of Kennedy's Moon Shot speech, "We chose to go to the moon in this decade ..." with the cheering crowds, adoring news media, and aerospace engineers feverishly writing proposals.

It is why I love SciFi. Someone imagines some fantastic thing and a hundred years later someone else is doing that very thing for reallz.

351 »»136 @WeirdDave,

My wife and I were out eating last week and sat next to a family where the youngest daughter had a fairly mild case of Downs Syndrome. She looked to be 2 or 3. We struck up a conversation with the family (this IS Texas) and took photos of them with one of their phones. They were a nice family and it was obvious that they loved each other.

After they left, I told my wife that the little girl was the first pre-teen I've seen with Downs Syndrome in years.

Thanks for the stories and the touching video.

All feeding to a manned Alert Center, with full control of the thousands of Dillon Aero 7.62 miniguns with 30,000 rd. motorized feed systems, mounted every 800 yards along the U.S. side of the innermost fence.

This provides a not-more-than 400 yard accuracy requirement for any given mount. And considering that said mounts are all five-axis gyro stabilized systems, just as on an Apache gunship, well.......

Target lock, and actual firing, are not in the software code, unless initiated and activated by the Human Operator at the Alert Center.

Warning shots into the sand, 40 yards ahead of the trespasser...at +3,000 rounds per minute....would tend to dissuade them of their present course and speed, no?

408 A Truth about South Texas ranchers.

Many, even half or more, are of Mexican heritage. Though most are fiercely patriotic to the USA, they also are muy simpatico to their cousins south of the Rio Grande.

The Gringo ranchers along the same river, live with, work with, eat with, school with, and marry with.... all those Mexican Texicans, who hail from one side of the border or the other, and have done so for literally, hundreds of years.

I think there is the will for a strong border, even down in the senderos pointing due south.

But being Texas... Even Trump is going to have to finesse this with the every skill he's ever acquired, and probably have to learn a few new ones in the doing.

Regardless of Anglo or TMexican.... those Texans down on the border to NOT cotton to "taking orders". From ANY one. Regardless of party or affiliation.

THAT needs to be loaded into the Trumpian Calculator, for sure.

The Federalization of Redistricting

Gerrymandering is a political tradition in America, dating back to
the time of the Founding Fathers--and going back in before that for
centuries in England. It is considered an ugly thing--at least by those
out of power--that is seen as "partisan". This is why (allegedly)
non-partisan redistricting commissions made up of (allegedly)
uninterested regular folk are so popular. And now, Rep. Zoe Lofgren
(D-CA) wants to mandate by Federal law that states create their own
(allegedly) non-partisan redistricting commissions for Congressional
districts according to the dictates of Federal law (H.R. 1102)... or
else.

Posted by: The Political Hat at March 01, 2017 09:54 PM
.
Non-partisan redistricting commissions? Like the "non-partisan" redistricting commission we had here in CA that was at least 6 to 1 Democrat? The commission that held "town hall" meetings that were packed early with Democratic Party activists (volunteer and paid employee) from outside the district so that actual local citizens were kept out and rudely blocked from entering? THAT kind of commissions?
.
The best part was when the Democrats were called out on it, they didn't bother with the usual evasions, but mocked the conservatives with a "you should have known better, you pathetic rubes".

Jim in Galveston,

I don't really have a niche anymore. I spent most of my adult life doing accounting, bookkeeping, taxes etc. (not a CPA) but have been out of the field going on 4 years now. Found it boring and tedious, and frankly don't want to do that anymore.

Trying to figure out my own niche in terms of self employment, but not getting anywhere there either at the moment.

427 @ Country Boy, 421.

I get that. Seriously. In every molecule.

Here's the thing, then.

Magic Wand. What would you WANT to do, outside of "self employment".

Me, I'm getting out of roofing, and am trying to work up to getting my CDL-B, with Air Brakes and Passenger endorsements.

Why?

So I can drive tour buses. In the seasons I choose, the locations I choose and schedules I choose.

I enjoy driving. I like interacting with people. I can narrate and B.S. like nobody's business.

And, nearing 60, I can close out my working years doing so. Selling roofing was OK, but too uncertain, at best.

That's what *I* am working on.

What do YOU want to be working on?

And we can take it from there.

Simple. Just build the wall around the East, West, and North perimeter of their property, effectively putting them in Mexico. Of course, you can't just wall them (the land owners) out of the US, so you'll have to leave an opening in the wall so they can come and go as they please. And so their Mexican friends have a nice path to El Norte right through their property.

450 I think one of the issues with the wall in Texas is that the Rio Grande forms the border, and a treaty prevents construction of a wall in the middle of the river. And ranchers want to be able let their cattle drink from the river.

My proposal: channelize the Rio Grande. Where topography permits, split the river into two equal channels, a hundred yards apart, and erect the wall down the middle of the "island" between them. Each country gets half the stream flow in their half-river.

452 @368 OT but does anyone know whether the eagles that rescue Sam and Frodo at the end of the Lord of the Rings were honoring the USA?
----------------

The Eagles in The Return of the King are characters that appear at various points in the story. An unidentified group appear in The Hobbit, when they rescue the party from a group of goblins. We learn that they hate goblins. They also appear quite a bit later in The Hobbit, though when exactly is a bit spoilery.

In The Lord of the Rings, they appear again at a few points. The first is when some eagles (identified by name, this time) rescues Gandalf from Saruman. The same eagles appear again after Gandalf fights the Balrog, and take him to safety. They appear again at the end of the story during the battle at the Black Gate. Gandalf borrows some of them, and those eagles fly off to save Frodo and Sam.

They're probably not representative of the US. While they are important and appear at key times, their roles are pretty minor. Further, I'm not aware of any statements by Tolkien that suggest such a comparison (and he actively discouraged any comparisons between The Lord of the Rings and World War 2).

454 I entered into a correspondence with Peter Singer once. I was very respectful and deferential, but I wanted to know some things, such as at what point did he consider a baby to be a full person. (I forget what else I asked. How this relates to animals, I think.)

He replied nicely, and I thought VERY off-handedly, considering the topic was killing babies, "Oh, around six months old."

I replied back that perhaps he didn't have any children. He became indignant, and said he did (I forget how many, I think maybe three).

I wrote back very politely thanking him for his time, etc. I'm still blown away by his notion that a baby is not a real person until oh, maybe around six months old.

I think the claim is based on him supposedly denigrating a Trump appearance at CPAC. Which doesn't strike me as implausible, because Trump was... well, let's say he wasn't exactly a solid conservative through his career.

But that doesn't mean that he'd then join with the Clintons, whom he despised. Like many, Andrew came to loathe the Clintons, not just because of their shabby behavior, but because they only got away with it due to the protection of the press, who he despised above all else.

(Which is part of the reason we got on well -- we both agreed the real enemy was the media, and the Democrat Party was just a front group for it.)

480 >>>Considering that Donald Trump was, at best, extremely peripheral to politics at the time of Breitbart's untimely passing, I doubt he was even on the radar screen.

if you look at who Andrew chose to hire for Breitbart.com -- he tended to like conservatives who didn't look or act like normal conservatives. A lot of goths, weird kids, and ex-liberals over there.

I don't know how he would have reacted to Trump. He would have appreciated, surely, Trump's hatred of the media, which was Andrew's own driving demon.

He definitely would not choose sides in a primary. he never did that. Breitbart.com doing that was defnitely contrary to Andrew's style.

But tank an election? Help the despised media? Elect another Clinton?

I seriously doubt it.

484 Ace, I just did a cursory Bing search on Trump-Breitbart. The only thing I found is that Breitnart warned that "Trump isn't a conservative", but he also correctly predicted that a "celebrity" would become the nominee if the rest of the GOP didn't figure out how to navigate the media. Seeing nothing about any personal animosity.

I'm happy to see your comments about your personal interactions with Andrew. It's really hard to believe the man has been gone five years.

485 >>481 Trump was making inquiries about running in 2012. I'm guessing he would have been on Breitbart's radar.

no one believed it. Andrew was clever and had a sense for things but he wasn't a precog. I don't think he would have grabbed on to trump as "The future."

Like I said, the one anecdote I've heard is that Andrew supposedly poor-mouthed a Trump CPAC talk. So he'd at least had a hint Trump was running or pretending to run.

Remember, Breitbart didn't get into the Weiner affair to get weiner but to get the media. That's why he slow-rolled it. He wanted the media all claiming Weiner was innocent.

He knew he could destroy weiner whenever he wanted. He had the goods early.

he waited, to let the media call the story bullshit, and blow them up after they did.

this idea that Breitbart would have JOINED with the media (and their nevertrump kissing cousins) seems to me completely out of character.

The guy hated the media. HATED. Hated them as much as me, or more.

Roll over for them?

I doubt it. He was built to fight them.

This primary was so weird, though. Not just with the msm, but also with outlets like NRO. The way they reacted to Trump was different that what their past would have suggested. Everyone was taking sides, and just the failure to treat Trump like an oddity was seen as evidence that the publication was pro Trump.

But there are plenty of people who have told me with complete confidence that Ronald Reagan and Thomas Jefferson would have been NeverTrumpers.....so I guess channeling Breitbart is easy.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 02, 2017 02:23 AM (WDdjT)

493 The other thing is this -- go look at Andrew's old interviews and read his old columns.

Do you see him arguing about various conservative strains? or about the 9-9-9 Tax plan? or the flat-tax?

No. He didn't really sweat which particular conservative vision triumphed because, a lot like me, he wasn't primarily conservative in a positive sense. he was anti-progressive.

It was destroying the mind-control of the progressive media alliance that drove him. Which vision of conservatism was needed to do it was just a detail he could give a fuck about.

Now, Trump's apparent (or casual, or seeming) racism would ahve been a big old problem for him, definitely.

He wouldn't have liked Trump's mean talk on his announcement day.

but he also would've seen, i think, that a lot of that was just vulgarity from an unpolished speaker.

right. I just said that above.

You will seek without finding if you try to locate Andrew's Shapiro-like defenses of the pro-life cause or stuff like that.

Now, what he would defend, vigorously, is a pro-lifer's value and his right to be heard and taken seriously. And he's attack the prog media for attempting to denigrate the pro-lifer.

I have no idea what his stance was on social issues because he never really talked about them.

That's not racist.

Posted by: Anon Y. Mous at March 02, 2017 02:27 AM (R+30W)

497 Andrew's passion for the Tea Party, for example, was not in repeating Tea Party agenda items and arguing for them.

but he went passionately ballistic when they were smeared for calling John Lewis a "Ni**er." You will find a lot of Breitbart words on that. He offered $100,000 for anyone who had audio of this. (Of course, no one offered any proof, and he knew that.)

His passion was in saying, "How dare you smear these good people..."

It wasn't in arguing specifically for this or that policy particular.

Posted by: ace at March 02, 2017 02:28 AM (8rNrN)

498 All my conversations with Breitbart were in taking down the left, not in picking this or that strain of conservatism over another. I can't remember one meaningful conversation with him about the 2012 primaries, for example.

Posted by: Anon Y. Mous at March 02, 2017 02:33 AM (R+30W)

503 Hello, creatures of the night.

I may have just got away with something or I may have just got myself into shit.

I am an Uber driver. Apparently the state police are cracking down on us lurking at the airport because the medallion cabs pay the state more in fees or something. Anyway, it's been a fairly predictable balance until now.

If you're lurking on the access road right before the terminal itself they'll either tolerate you or come up behind you and turn on the lights or the klaxon in a strong hint that you should go away. I always go away when that happens.

Well, tonight I was the first car in a line just before the terminal, pulled over to the side of the road. Six or eight cars pulled in behind me. One cop drove past us all without incident. Then one pulled over in front of me.

He got out of the car and asked for my license and registration. I said sure, turned on the inside lights, got out my license, got the registration out of the glove box. Now when I turned to the window the statie was not there. He was talking to the car behind me, then the car behind that. He worked his way back about six cars doing the same thing.

I looked at my license and registration. I pondered whether anything good would come of the interaction I would have with the officer. (Both are in good order, I'm not worried about compliance or anything).

Then I wondered whether he had taken any action to record my license place number. I didn't think so, but you never know. Many of our local cop cars have license plate readers. I decided that it was unlikely that he'd just recorded mine. Not impossible, though.

I decided that what he really wanted was for me to not be there, so I obliged him by scurrying away. Whee!

Now, I either got away with less hassle than waiting for him to check my documents would have entailed, or I failed to comply with the reasonable request of a law enforcement official.

Which isn't that reasonable, I did get the stuff right out all polite and whatnot but if you're going to roust six cars at once shouldn't you at least have another cop watching?

Anyway, I'll be in suspense for a few days to see if I avoided trouble or got myself into it.

507 >>>The way that the media smeared and lied about the Tea Party had a lot of similarities with the way they smeared and lied about Trump and his supporters.

i think that kind of thing would have pulled him towards trump.

I think he saw himself as a defender of people smeared by the media. Like trump, he was their megaphone.

This is where I saw his passion. Not in stuff like "Trump is not doctrinaire about Free Trade." that's something people are interested in, but I never heard Andrew take much interest in it.

i think he started hanging out with claremont guys and going to their events. but what he came back with wasn't some talking points for a wonkish policy initiative; it was a passion about cultural marxism and te Frankfurt School.

Again, what got him revving was attacking the progressves who he felt had had him "in The Matrix" (he always talked about this way) until his 2nd or 3rd year in college.

He felt lied to. He felt mind-controlled.

And he was pissed about it.

Hope you get away with it!

Your story reminds me of an incident several years ago when I had parked at the end of a dead-end road to do some hiking on a path that can be accessed from the dead end. It's public land, not private, not posted. There's an official trailhead but the place I parked is frequently used by hikers who are only doing half the trail. It's a mini-parking lot, no signs saying you can't park there.

Anyway, I came off the trail and found a cop car parked right up behind my truck in the classic cut-off position. It was a warm, sunny summer afternoon and the cop car's windows were down. I could hear the dispatcher on the radio cut in now and then. But the cop car was empty-no cop in sight. Since I couldn't back out, I just got out my license, registration and insurance and waited. And waited. And waited. Not a soul in sight. Just a quiet street on a quiet afternoon.

After 20 minutes or so I started getting pissed. I was hot and sweaty and wanted to go home. I walked up and down the street trying to figure out where the cop was, then I said fk this, it's illegal to detain someone without charges and I'm being, in effect, detained. So I did like a 25-point turn to wriggle my truck out and proceeded to drive home, expecting klaxons and flashing lights behind me at any moment. Nothing happened. Spent the next few days worrying, but nothing ever did happen.

Best explanation I could come up with is that the cop was carrying on an affair with some housewife on the street or something like that and didn't want to park in her driveway. But why the cutoff position? There were several empty spots at the dead end. This was a tiny, quiet little suburban street with maybe 10 houses on it. No reason at all for that cop to have been parked there like that.

549 30 God bless Andrew. I remember waking up early on the morning I learned he died.

Came straight here. Wept.

That was a terrible week. A few days later Neptunus Lex (Carroll LeFon) died in a plane crash at Fallon.

550 I really love the parts in Andrew's book where he talks about the very earliest days of the internet, when guys like him and Drudge and Gutfeld were a bunch of nobodies. If he had lived, I had hoped he'd do a whole book just on that subject.

Can you imagine being one of the few people who received the original Drudge Report via e-mail? Wow. The part where AB talked about going through a six pack and a bucket of chicken while waiting for his dial-up modem to connect had me rollin'. That was so me too in those days.

I still miss Neptunus Lex (Carroll LeFon). That was another unique community, with lots of great people. He had a gift of storytelling.

555 Yesterday we were wondering what the Dems and MFM (birm) were going to come up with to counter Trump's speech.

Cummings calls for Sessions to resign. Pelosi calls for Sessions to resign. Warren sends smoke signals calling for Sessions to resign.

So there we have our answer.

And yet, the Democrats have demonstrably failed in their governance. Note every area that has been under the legislative control of the Democratic Party for 50 years, and then compile any statistical analysis you want with those areas removed from consideration.

All the negative indices like crime rates, abortions, single-parenthood, welfare use etc. would plummet. Positive indices like patent formation, two-parent families, low crime rates, etc. would soar. We are really two nations, one battered but not crippled, the other crippled, without hope, entrenched with the world-view of the underclass.

557 Marko Kloos seems to have stepped into the sad puppies debate. I quit reading Piers Anthony's works because of his authors notes. I'm sure my life will be fine without Kloos's books too.

Maybe Kloos should go back to Germany. He wouldn't have any opportunity but he wouldn't be compared to sausage. Socialist paradise where all the people know their place.

564 "More Than Words" (by Extreme)
...I would already know...

Takes a while for people to realize that Democrats are just words. Farts have more meaning than words from a Democrat.

566 Resign, why?

The Russians, why else?

The comments on that Dan Brown article-oy! Does he pay these people to comment? 99% of them defending Brown and attacking the article's author.

Just read those examples, or worse yet, a whole book. Dan Brown is a shitty writer.

Is that the same as 42+ to a non-Penn graduate person?
