Just to throw out a suggestion for the higher ups, if threads would be regularly scheduled, it would reduce the tensions of commenters a lot. Always hitting refresh like a bunch of piranhas so that we can be "first".
This would not necessarily inconvenience the cobs. If they didn't get in the post at the exact time, an automated script could post a "nood open" thread without content. Then when the blogger gets around to it, they can update the opening post with content.
Life is stressful enough as it is. Do the cobs really need the stress of worrying about being sued for inducing "nood traumatic stress disorder"?

She was one of the top high school girls in some stroke. Eventually, after diswcussions with the lunatic and her assessments of who knows what, she decides that, if she's going to pretend to be a guy at school then she should swim on the guys team. SO she does. And she is very happy to report that there were actually one or two races in which she didn't come in last place. Yay!
Oh, and she isn't getting any surgery because she thinks she might still want to have kids!

In other states, there are boys that have forfeited rather than wrestle a girl. Wrestling is just different than football or baseball, especially for a high schooler. I would have forfeited, too, out of extreme discomfort. (of course, I wasn't very good, so I might have lost anyways).

Texas guidelines ( not sure if they are actual laws) prevent girls wrestling on boys' teams and vice versa. Of course the stupid leftists and the media want to change that.
Also, under the guidelines, it's not considered doping if hormones are given under the supervision of a doctor.
So it boils down to the fact that a girl was allowed to bulk up her muscles by taking teenage boy levels of testosterone.

I have no idea. I worked there for about 8 months in 2006/7, so it was well after the 1998 era dot-com hedonism. They still might for all I know.
It wasn't like they had a professional chef or anything, there was just a box of foodservice hamburgers and a George Forman grill, some buns, cheese, and condiments. It wasn't a bad perk or anything if you're hungry during your shift, but I'd rather have brought sandwiches and gotten paid what you'd expect someone doing Unix server support would be making.

temp change going into the boiling water. They peel nice and with the
right timing no green or smell.

I have this thing, it'll knock out a pretty convincing egg/meat/muffin sandwich in the time it takes for a morning shower. You have to use pre-cooked meats though, it just re-heats it with steam. It'll also just do toast and even *whispers* hard-boiled eggs. It's about $35 from Amazon or Wal-mart.

I'm having a grand old time going down computer nostalgia lane. I stumbled across some old 16-bit OS/2 1.x installation diskettes, and Virtualbox can run them (some of them)
Some of the older versions have to be patched -- modern machines are way too fast and a timing loop will run so fast, much faster than anyone could conceive at the time, which runs a counter to zero and results in a divide by zero trap. You have to patch the offending code in some driver files but NOPing out the divide instruction.
It works, and I've got an IBM OS/2 1.30 installation running.
I wanted OS/2 badly back in the day then, but couldn't afford a machine capable of running it.
Of course, it's primitive, primordial compared to anything today, but I'm still having a ball with it.

Beautiful girl --- but her body has been wrecked in from all the steroids they fed her in her teens.

Last year, H decided that she was really a man.
It took my by surprise, but my daughter says H has felt that way since she was in her preteens. I've only seen her once in person since she "came out". Now she's mad about Trump's reversal on transgender bathrooms. Her (otherwise sucky) parents have told her it's mental. She refuses to believe that. Now she's asking me via FB if I support her.

Indulging their fantasies and angst only feeds the mental illness and leads to a deadly end. The percentage of the "normal" kids who "transition" killing themselves is astronomical. I've had an idle dream for a while about getting a big bag of toggle switches and LEDs and making a real physical RPi-based Altair 8800 clone. I could manage the switch and LED I/O easy enough with multiplexers and bit-shift registers, but writing an 8080 emulator is a little beyond my ability.

If anyone is interested in Retro shit, check out "Winworld". Put that in Google and you'll get it.
They have tons and tons of old software, OSes (they've got BeOS there). That's where I got that OS/2 1.x I was mentioning. They have a bunch. Also, all the old compilers, MS, Borland, etc, etc. It was all the shit I wanted back in the late '80s and early 90s but couldn't afford.
Most of it is still technically copyrighted, but nobody complains if it's old enough. And they've got a shit ton. Including some of the early 32-bit stuff. I think they go all the way up to Visual C++ 6.0 or so.
They've got all the versions of OS/2 up to Warp 4.52, the last IBM put out. I've had that in a VM for a long time.
If you're in to that, fire up some of your favorite virtual machine sofware and have a blast.

It took my by surprise, but my daughter says H has felt that way since she was in her preteens. I've only seen her once in person since she "came out". Now she's mad about Trump's reversal on transgender bathrooms. Her (otherwise sucky) parents have told her it's mental. She refuses to believe that. Now she's asking me via FB if I support her.

You can always tell her that whatever she does, you will love her, but that you do love her, and that you are a bit worried because medical interventions don't always work out so well. The evidence is that hormones will help her emotional state, but there's no good evidence yet that surgery helps with anything. The first order of business is to deal with her unhappiness with her body. That's a real thing, and the emphasis on interventions to change the body may be a mistake, from a strictly medical point of view. You can't cure gender dysphoria, but you can learn to live with it. Therapy is really, really important, and going under the knife is not "brave".

That's the thing. There are just certain demographics that have high suicide rates, and teens are one of them. I know of 4 teen suicides or attempted suicides from my old parish, and the son of one of my cousins committed suicide. These kids go through all kinds of emotional drama and some of them just aren't able to handle life's disappointments and unfairnesses.

Its all BS. If a transexual is actually a transexual, they will be able to walk into any restroom and use it, and no one will think twice because
a) they will use a stall and
b) they will look at least superficially like the appropriate gender, and people don't look that closely.

The one I know for sure is kind of sad. He is around 40 with some male pattern baldness.

Regarding the paprika. I've always used the cheap stuff. One day I was in a specialty store and bought some good Hungarian hot paprika. It really does add more than just color to food.

I grew up in MD and deviled eggs were a staple of big feast type meals as well as most parties. MD style swaps Old Bay for the paprika as a dusting on top of the finished product.
I can easily pack away two dozen of those awesome little fuckers.

Food is a topic that is more fun. The best smoked paprika seems to come from Spain, mild and spicy. We like some we ordered from the internets. We also have some from World Market which is not bad.
And I like to use lemon juice instead of vinegar in deviled eggs and enough mustard to keep it from tasting like pure mayo, salt, pepper, garlic & onion powders & celery salt.

I've started planting paprika peppers and cutting the peppers into slices and drying them. They add some zest to cornbread and other dishes when cooked in. I haven't reduced them to powder since they don't seem to dry all the way. They wind up like raisins, and it is hard to powder raisins, also.
The cayenne peppers on the other hand do dry completely and crush to flakes, and that is extra tasty dusted onto dishes.
Anyhow, after 20 years and several aborted attempts to throw the counter-top dryer away, I finally figured out what it was good for.

When I went to get married, the church I went to as a kid, the same one my wife went to, who also went to catholic school there, was booked up the day we planned the wedding. We decided to go to the church in the town we were moving. I explain to the priest I won't be moving there for 6 months, basically when the wedding is, we live far away right now, but would like to get married there. The priest there frigging interrogates me, and after the bullshit he tells me he wants to see me there every week making an effort to be part of the parish, or else when the day comes to get married, he don't care what we spent on wedding arrangements, or what plans, he won't marry us.
I turn to the wife and said get up, fuck this guy, I looked at the priest and said I would rather have satan marry us than this prick.

There's a lot of evidence for a genetic link to cilantro love/hate, but there might be other things too. Kids generally don't like coffee or beer, but tastes change as you age. I can't taste soap in cilantro at all now, but that's all I could taste in that bowl, so who knows.

Well we went back to the church we grew up in, explained to the priest there what happened to us, and he apologized for the "church" and decided they could squeeze us in. It happened to be the day the kids were making their communion, so we got married a little later in the day. He was great though, 180 degrees different from the other bastard. Of course some years later he got in trouble, something about kids.
To this day I only go to church for weddings and funerals. I can't deal with the bullshit. The wife on the other hand goes every week, sings in the choir, but not in the church that gave us trouble, which I had been calling our lady of great agony ever since.

I had an absolutely brilliant highschool and then undergraduate student who worked for me in summers. He was really interested in philosophy and history, and couldn't decide if he wanted to do medicine or not. He ended up picking philosophy (which I actually think was the right choice for him: he got his PhD and is working as a bioethicist now) and became interested in political theories in literature. Spent some time studying ideas abut anarchism in a serious careful way, and was invited to speak at a conference. He gave his paper, which was an interesting, serious exploration of what different people mean when they talk about "property", but just had to leave, because everyone at the conference didn't give two shits about the ideas; they were all about tearing down the system so that blah blah blah. and everything else was just post hoc justification for that. They were all about finding the most morally pure way to justify an essentially puerile and naive nihilism.

I had 2 cousins that were in the battle portrayed in FMJ (Hue). One was an M60 gunner in the marines. My other cousin was special forces and was pushing from a different side of the city. They both liked FMJ, but didn't seem to say much about platoon. The marine cousin got over run twice in the area around khe sanh. He was on patrol in the area trying to find out what was happening to the outposts. He got a tad bloody but survived. Amazing both of them survived really.

Srsly, (sorta) I make a distinction between ideas (structures made of logic and intuitions and experience) and feelings (the stuff you......feel. You know.). I take ideas seriously, because two people can talk productively about ideas: they are how things go together, and you can test them against reality. They have meaning outside my head.
Feelings are just a person's experience. A fucking quahog has experience: who gives a shit? Anarchists (the stupid kind, which is about 99% of them, if one is charitable) make this leap from feeeeelings of unfaaaaaireness to "like, kill the pigs." because the feeeeelings of RAAaaaaaGE! are important, and really, they aren't. They are usually either evidence of psychopathology or self indulgence.
I mean, we all know life is unfair. But babies and children need a safe orderly environment, or they end up as fucked up adults who hurt everyone around them, so you have to figure out the best path from where you are to where you want things to be, without fucking up too many kids. Its just compassion, and its that simple.
The fact that this escapes people is perennially frustrating.

yeah I have been trying to find out if my one cousin was in the 2/5 or the 3/5. I think he was in the 3/5 marines. Both cousins are dead now, including their parents, so there is nobody to ask. My marine cousin did 1 long extended tour, and the special forces cousin did 4 tours, crazy bastard. He was kind of fucked up, walked with a limp, a lot of wounds, nothing real bad, but enough to screw with him later in life. He was a funny dude, told me about how he was taking a pee one day and a VC popped up and stabbed him through the hand, and seeing he was still alive I kinda figured he smoked the dude. I said did you keep the knife? He said no I left it in his neck. Tough bastard man. Been trying to find their records, but it hasn't been easy.

another time, i requested the records of a vet i bought a ChiCom pistol from.
i had his name, HOR and his RA number...
they sent me back a letter saying it was a very common name, and without a serial number, they couldn't help me. (it was on the form they returned, they didn't even bother reading the form)

After I happened to play Ruben the guest (all of these people are guests on all of each other's shows) Steven Crowder. Crowder is amazing when it comes to debate, but it was somewhat friendly.
Ruben is noticeably more conservative IMHO in the latter interview, about a year and a half apart. Not surprising, his goal was to 'reform' liberal politics and 'the regressive left' in whatever small way he can. And 2 years prior he was at the god-awful Young Turks. You might be able to separate some of what makes them liberal from what makes them smug unbearable twats, but it's mostly all one thing. They are on the election night schadenfreude videos, and their tears are delicious.
