California Is Hell Bent On Making Pelosi And Maxine Waters Sound Like Geniuses....

In fairness to the esteemed junior senator from California, she is dumber than a rock, so it is possible that she thinks that these deportations would apply to anyone who has committed a crime, not just illegals. And that means many of her supporters would be deported. To where....I have no idea.

I am fascinated that the Republican Party, the party that used to proudly embrace "Law And Order Republicans" as some of its strongest and most dedicated supporters, isn't crying out on every street corner and photo op that there is a big difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants. And that deportations are simply part of the law that they and the Democrats voted for....

Update: That is sarcasm.

As Jeff Goldstein has written extensively about, you lose the debate when you agree to use their language. I am sure that this contributes heavily to the Trump derangement: how dare he use words everyone has already decided are off-limits!!! A woman robs a store.
She is put in jail.

Is anyone crying "we can't put her in jail, she has a family?"

No. Becuase she committed a crime.

Being here illegally is a crime. People CHOOSE to break the law.

How is a man who robs a bank because his family is "poor" and "wants a better life" different than an illegal who comes here because he is "poor" and "wants a better life?"

Both are committing crimes, and if both have families, the are making decisions that could harm them.

91 Both Partys (the uniparty) are wrong and have been wrong on illegal immigration for too long. Secure the border and enforce the laws for both illegal aliens and employers. The 20 or 30 million will either be deported or leave when the incentive to stay is gone. No welfare or SS payments to illegals. Start now.

And yet look at how many are scrambling to Canada based on a couple of EOs from Trump instructing DHS/ICE merely follow the laws on the books?
Expectations influence outcomes.

Demanding we agree that "You can't deport all of them, therefore you should not deport any of them!" - which is what that person was really saying, is BS (and they know it). Trump is rejecting their premises, upending the debate.

The Administration doesn't say that. The law says that. The laws passed by the people's representatives, Democrat and Republican and signed by presidents of both parties over many years.

Furthermore, those laws say anyone here illegally may be deported, not just criminals. This is evidently not a novel concept; EVERY COUNTRY ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH HAS SUCH A LAW. HATERS!

It's too bad we don't have a political system where voters could vote choose their representatives and enact any policies on immigration they like.

Oh--wait--we do.

For instance, when voters put Democrats fully in charge in 2009 and 2010. They could have passed or repealed any immigration law they chose just like they did on healthcare.

141 Leftist philosophy for at least 150 years has started with the premise that rights aren't intrinsic, they're just socially agreed upon (because as the side that doesn't believe in God, they can't appeal to a higher power, and even if they did, most organized religion stubbornly refuses to agree with lots of their agenda). But, they figure that that's ok, because they see that people become more tolerant as time goes on. We had slavery a while ago, but we got rid of that. We now have equal sufferage and all these wonderful things, so it follows that people will continue gradually see the world their way, and once enough people do, then they get to say "see, here's the mandate for our social change."

I don't think it's even occurred to them that people could shift "backwards" on these sorts of things. So we're not only seeing a bit of an existential crisis, since the arguments they're making do not work any more. If you say that there is a right to X, and enough people say "no, that's retarded" then you don't have anywhere to go in the argument except screech louder and louder about the injustice in increasingly vain attempts to get people to change their mind.

The conversation needs to be about the definition of what a Right actually is.

Because the Court's don't seem to know anymore...

Hell, even the 'Right' to vote is not a Right under what the Founder's defined...

A Right was something inherent to an individual, that the Government should not impede...

The right to speech... the right to property... the right to defend oneself... the right to only associate with whom you wish...

These are all things we already have... the VOTE is an artificial construct... a POWER granted to us by our form of Government, not something given to us by God, or Nature.

200 Hell, even the 'Right' to vote is not a Right under what the Founder's defined...

The problem is that there are two kinds of rights

1) Human rights, which are innately part of being human and cannot be taken away -- you still have the RIGHT to liberty, even while jailed.
2) Legal rights, which are created by law and can be removed by law.

People conflate the two and treat them as equal. The right to marry is a legal right, not a human right. But it is being treated as a human right, and thus extended to nonsensical concepts.

295 Wolfus: If you come to Utah, here's what you need to know. SLC and Park City are the lib infested areas. Tame compared to Boston or San Fran, but still: lib infested.

The rest of the state is solidly Republican/conservative. Heck, come south to Provo and you'll see something likely impossible anywhere else: a college town that is practically neanderthal to the right. BYU and UVU are huge schools that are somewhere around 80 Republican students. Utah has lots of hot women, too. The economy is booming; the mountains are gorgeous and well, we have the greatest snow on earth. Not like Denver and then the two hour commute to anything resembling fun.

Plus, the governor here just stood up to Democrat blackmail and told the leftist Outdoor retailer convention where to go and what to do when they got there.

I live in a small town, and even our elementary school is from the 50s: they say the pledge every morning, they have a hall dedicated to the Constitution, and even the local latino community is pro-American. County politics involve races between the Republicans and the Constitution party, with the Democrats usually in 3rd place.

It's actually not bad, for its time. The episodes I've seen so far are better than the later, color, episode found on MeTV.

The only thing that detracts from it is that Robert Vaughn is a crappy actor. I mean, a *really* crappy actor. He's hard to watch for that reason, and since he's in most of the scenes, that's a major drawback.

But I could tell the writers were trying to do a serious spy drama, and it mostly works.

Texas has got some out near the Big Bend and El Paso areas, but eh, those area are more like a little part of Mexico that Texas managed to grab ahold of and hang onto 170 years ago than they are like the rest of Texas.

People move to Texas to make money, and its probably easier for an ambitious working man to do that here than anywhere else. That's why cities like Houston and Dallas are about making money - nothing else really ranks very high on their priority charts.

If I was close to retirement, I'd pick Az.

I just had the idea that SLC might have the best job opportunities. Currently I'm office manager for a university department (economics, if it matters, so not as moonbatty as most). If I could find something similar in Provo at a right-tending school . . . plus mountains and winter . . . well, those hogs better move over, I'm joining 'em in heaven.

Posted by: Tom Servo at February 24, 2017 01:14 PM (YsaNw)

Ahem. There was a time back in the 70s, if you lived in SF Bay Area, that if you read of a murder in the newspaper you would think, oh crap, is this a Zodiac killing, a Zebra killing, a Zodiac or Zebra copycat killing, or just a random murder. Because we had not one, but *two* serial murderers on the loose, at the same time, for a brief period of time. Fun times in California.

Beat that, bitchez.

Posted by: OregonMuse, deplorable since 2004 at February 24, 2017 01:19 PM (U+9Zc)

Most prolific? Dean Corll? By what measure?? I'll have to look it up when I get home, but I don't think he's anywhere near #1.

Now, you want to talk about prolific, there's the dude from Columbia or Equador or one of those places, had literally around 300 bodies to his name. He was from one country, and did most of his killing in the other. Named Lopez, I think...

Anyhoo... the country where he was locked up, at one point decided he was in country illegally, so... THEY DEPORTED HIM!

That's right. Put him in a vehicle, drove him to the border, and let him go. He's out there, to this day, somewhere (maybe he's dead, nobody seems to know). Presumably still killing, if he's alive, but I think it's hilarious they just let him go. On the border.

Now THAT is an illegal immigration policy!

Naw, the producers were at pains to say that U.N.C.L.E. was NOT part of the UN -- it was "United Network Command for Law and Enforcement." The idea was that it was supposed to handle things too big for even national police forces to deal with -- like Thrush subverting an entire country, or blackmailing the world with the threat of a plague, or stuff like that.

Some, sure, but all? Oh no. He certainly has some confirmed kills.

Personally, I believe at any given time, a nation as large as this has a dozen or more prolific serial killers doing their business unmolested, because law enforcement is just not that good at connecting the dots. Until an obvious clue smacks them in the face.

412 25 Any recommendations on states that:

1. Have good (read: few) gun laws
2. Have good economies
3. Have a decent number of women in their 20s?

I've spent 26 years behind enemy lines and I'd like to go home.

Orlando, Fl
Great place, reasonable housing, jobs, entertainment, great university, UCF with 50k students, good gun laws and ranges, beaches just an hour away. I-4 under construction, which is snarling traffic, but still not bad. Speed week and Daytona 500 this weekend, bike week just around the corner!

420 Wolfus: Try UVU or Utah State. BYU is the most conservative and their business school is one of the top in the country, but I don't know how you'd feel about the Honor code BYU has everyone sign and obey--students, staffers, employees, faculty.

But even Univ of Utah is not bad, and if you live in the suburbs of Salt Lake and commute a bit, it's pretty conservative too. Weber State might be an option as well up in Ogden. That's probably more "normal" of an area compared to the rest of the country, as opposed to Provo and "Happy Valley."

All depends on how you feel about being surrounded by lots and lots of Mormons. Ogden has fewer, Provo is fairly well 75% or more LDS. Even the illegals and immigrants tend to be LDS there.

After all these years of being surrounded by people who shoot each other outside KFC stores, and more law-abiding (if as dumb) people who think watching parades in the rain is fun . . . I think I'd positively enjoy the Mormons.

422 Dean Corll was a sexual sadist and murderer. Growing up in Houston, he was the first mass muderer who came across my radar. The DA and the press tried their best to shield the public from the details for many years, but it seeped out fairly quickly. Still gives me the shivers. Beginning with Viet Nam, then the assassinations and turmoil of the sixties, the Corll case inflicted a finishing blow to the innocence of many.
