As a constitutional conservative, I supported Ted Cruz in the primaries. But I now realize that Donald Trump was correct about the largest issue in the primary: if Cruz had won--or anyone besides Trump--we'd all be saying "Madame President" right now. And listening to the liquid "swoosh" of the last bits of the Constitutional Republic being flushed down the toilet forever. Donald Trump was right, and I was wrong.
I went from Trump hostile to Trump skeptic to Trump inevitable to Trump supporter to Trump enthusiast to where I am today: Crawl Across Broken Glass to Help This President Help Us.
The shabby, venal, disgusting and even criminal opposition to this president is unmatched in American history. I don't mean just the non-stop bald-faced professional liars in a Free Press enslaved by their own ideology. Or even the unheard-of outright rebellion by the allegedly Permanently-Entrenched Blob-ocracy. No new president, with the possible exception of Lincoln and the Confederates, has been so shabbily-treated and set upon from all quarters like rabid hyenas on a lion.
By "criminal", I mean the intimidation and violence of rioters, the lawless "courts" and especially the seditious national security crimes by Obama and his Muslim Brotherhood Deep State Spooks.
I don't mean I'll like every policy or tweet; I don't and I won't. But the pure ass displayed by his opponents has been so deeply unfair and so fundamentally un-American, it has pushed me to support him come hell or high water--and we've already seen both in this first month.
They have declared war on this man.
Decent people should cross every street necessary to help him win that war.

We talked today about the press conference. He thought Trump came across very well, and had a good sense of humor. He also seems to be OK with securing the borders and sees all these protests as liberals being sore losers.

It's frickin insane. I got 5k of .22 from CMP a decade ago on a whim and just recently started to burn through it. It's great for my kids single shot .22s but it's low velocity and I can't run my semi auto pistols on it. Went to pick up a nice box of high velocity and about had a heart attack.

That said, Trump needs to get a grip on his temperament. A President--a good one--cannot be child-like or impulsive, cannot afford tantrums. These angry four o'clock AM Tweet storms may work for a living-with-mom former grad student recluse but not for the President of the United States.
I still hold the same reservations I had about Trump in the primaries. The country's endured bad presidents before--Obama anyone? And I'm desperately hoping Trump isn't one.

But 22LR has always had some weird government shit attached to it. You look at magazines and pretty much every 22 used to have nothing but 10 round mags, even though you could easily fit 20 in a nice single stack and 50 or more in a small double stack mag. But you could never find any of those things, even as they had 17 round 40 S+W mags. It was just weird and something particular to 22s (and not because of the rims, either). Those things have finally changed a bit (the PMR 30 had a 30 round double stack 22 mag magazine) but the weirdness surrounding 22 is still there.

I was shocked to learn how many people on my street were armed. This all kind of came out right after Sandy Hook. The most amazing revelation was when my doorbell rang and it was the Korean Dry Cleaner from across the street.
He wanted to know if I heard gunshots "last night". I told him that I hadn't, and he proceeded to tell me that he was a rifle instructor in the Korean army before he moved here, and that he knew the difference between a gunshot and fireworks (which go off all the time in the summer around here) and he was pretty sure there was somebody firing off some rounds. As he talked to me, I didn't have to read (listen) between the lines to know he was armed.
There are lot of us here in the 'burbs. Cook County tries really hard to make it difficult, but "Nature always finds a way".

I'm in the Buffalo Grove area. A bit more anti gun even compared to Northbrook which is right down the street. They tried to pass a strong assault weapons ban here when the whole CC deal was going down and we organized and got a BS watered down version instead.

I watched a couple of Donald's campaign rallies and knew then that he was going to win the nomination. None of the others generated excitement on that level.
I still figured that Cankles would win, due to the Blue Wall in the Electoral College.
Election night was a very happy surprise, and a relief. It was so good to know that the JEF's legacy would be erased, that we wouldn't lose our religious freedoms or gun rights. If Trump does nothing else but turn the Supreme Court conservative, I will be happy with that, but you know he is going to do so much more.
We almost lost the country. I shudder to think where we would be if we had lost on November 8th.

That's a neat place, but a hike. I've really grown to appreciate Camp Duncan and its 40 minute drive. For my range time I drive to McMiller Sports center in Eagle Wisc. About an hour and fifteen minutes each way but I try to make a day out of it.
The .22s were all trashed when we were at Tecumseh. My son's wouldn't run more than 2 rounds without a jam and I shot a nice dime sized group 3" upper left from the bull.

Heh. I'm (and most others I know) taking advantage of the dropping prices. I did write a blog post prior to the election noting that with Trump, we get a little longer to prepare. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I get a little closer to where I want to be preparedness-wise every week, but I don't have as much sense of urgency about it...I can be more methodical.

I was in the car and they had it on the radio. I didn't know it was a press conference, and thought it was some sort of "we've just been nuked or we're nuking someone" announcement.
Instead, the man I voted for was yelling at the press, telling them they were stupid and their children were ugly.

I've been shooting there for years. Went once to Buffalo Range in Ottawa, which was nice (and they have a plinking pit). I shoot a lot of WW2 rifles and modern sporting rifles and you can do everything from pistol to 300 yards there. Indoors I go to J&R Shooting Sports in Aurora. Best rates I've found.
We should organize a moron shoot come summer. Meet ups in the different areas for some range time. I've been thinking of setting up a facebook "shooting club" of some sort for the North Shore to connect the hobby a bit.

Changing parishes isn't that hard. You go shopping, find one you like, sign up and I think I ended up sending a letter to the old parish saying I'm now attending a different church. Pretty painless.

I was a fan until I saw Richard Boone in the movie "Hombre." He plays one of the most ruthless, sadistic movie villains ever. He seemed to really be into that character, and when I saw Have Gun Will Travel episodes after watching "Hombre," it looked to me that there's an evil streak in Boone. Maybe Richard Boone in real life is the kindest, gentlest man since Jesus...if so, he is one hell of an actor.

Someone I knew years ago had a really filthy house. She was an intellectual and you might not have guessed the condition of her house if you hadn't seen it. She loved making dishes for her church's potlucks. I have avoided potlucks ever since.

We always had dogs when the children were young. The ex wouldn't let me get a cat because he was allergic. After he left, and the dogs both died, I took in a friends cat because she was moving and couldn't keep her.
I loved that cat. Broke my heart when she got sick and had to be put to sleep.

Sorry to hear that. I put down one of mine on Friday. Not my favorite, and in a way she's at peace after never having fit in with the monsters in my home.
She's at peace, I had a fun time with the sadness, and gripped said monsters (i.e. the other cats) with greater tightness all weekend long.

I can understand that. I stayed, through the end of Alexandria and the beginning of Hilltop/the menace of Negan.
I read all of that in the comics, and simply decided that was enough. I did not watch any of this current season.
Incidentally, Terminus does NOT exist in the comics. I don't really understand why they thought they needed it.

During the fifties, many radio programs made the transition to the ever-growing medium called television. Some more successful than others. John Dehner was cast as Paladin. Dehner was the same man who many years before, originally didn't want to play Matt Dillon because he didn't want to be typecast in a western. The first thirty-some radio scripts were adaptations from the television series. After more than twenty episodes, they realized the show was not as successful for radio as it was for television. Some changes needed to be made, so the radio productions would differ from the television. After two years and 106 broadcasts, Have Gun Will Travel slowly faded away. John Dehner died on February 4, 1992, in Santa Barbara, California, from complications of emphysema and diabetes. He was 76.[/i
