Another Fake Hate Crime Exposed

The media loves easy-peasy-to-write #Trend stories, but for some reason, they won't touch this very-well-documented #Trend.

After months of investigating, Ann Arbor police believe that two of three claims of possible hate crimes in November 2016 were false reports.

The three incidents were reported on Nov. 11, Nov. 12 and Nov. 15, 2016, in downtown Ann Arbor, near the University of Michigan.

...

Hate crimes lower in Michigan in 2015, but trend may be in jeopardy

Um, that's a headline that they threw in the middle of the article to get you to click on it, right?

How funny is it that in a story revealing that at least two of three reported hate crimes in Ann Arbor were false reports, they throw in the alarmist headline that hate crimes might be going up?

Back to the story:

Ann Arbor police Detective Lt. Matthew Lige said after an exhaustive investigation, the inconsistencies with the reported victim's statements and lack of surveillance footage of the incident as reported led police to submit as request for criminal charges.

"Flat out, it did not happen," Lige said of the Nov. 15 report.

The woman who reported the incident - a 21-year-old Ann Arbor woman - could face a misdemeanor charge for falsely reporting a misdemeanor assault, but that will be decided after review by the county prosecutor's office.

She won't be charged. They never are.

By the way, there is in fact a rash of hate crimes going on, but the media absolutely refuses to mention it let alone denounce it, because they're on the side of political violence against the right people.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) says he is "outraged beyond words" after a left-wing mob knocked a 71-year-old staffer at his Huntington Beach office unconscious during a protest on Valentine's Day. Activists from a group called Indivisible OC said they were simply delivering Valentine’s Day cards when the "unfortunate" accident occurred.

...

The police were called to the scene, but made no arrests.

Of course not.

There is a very real question as to whether our police and other institutions are secretly permitting these violent black-bloc progressives to terrorize law abiding citizens.

[I]t is not clear to me how eager UC Berkeley is to apprehend those responsible for the attack [at the Milo Yiannopolous event]. (As I noted in my original post, authorities made several arrests that night, but they were not of any of the actual attackers.) And, as the always-informative Heather Mac Donald has recounted, at least some UC Berkeley faculty members did not seem particularly disappointed about Yiannopoulos being shut down. For example, Deborah Blocker, associate professor of French, cheerfully noted after the attack that "[m]ostly this was typical Black Bloc action, in a few waves --very well-organized and very efficient. They attacked property but they attacked it very sparingly, destroying just enough University property to obtain the cancelation order for the [Yiannopoulos] event and making sure no one in the crowd got hurt."

I hope UC Berkeley authorities will be able to announce some progress on the investigation soon....

UC Berkeley, and perhaps City of Berkeley, authorities need to vigorously move forward with their own investigations. Otherwise questions will linger about how is that more than 100 organized attackers can invade the campus without being called to account.

This is how you get vigilantism.

21 There was an incident at Villanova U, in the posh suburbs outside of Philadelphia, shortly after the election. Local news jumped all over it.

The story: A young woman of color was walking the underground tunnel that leads to the public transit stop. Three Villanova students, white males chanting TRUMP! - pushed her to the ground.

the moment I heard that story it was just implausible. First of all, Villanova guys don't want to get their hair mussed. Secondly: boys chanting TRUMP - how corny. It sounds like a homemade comic strip drawn by your kid brother when he was bored on a rainy day.

Of course the accuser dropped the story when the local cops came up with nothing.

And yes, Oath Keepers acted as (law-abiding) vigilantes, in the purest sense of "vigilance groups"; no governments gave them orders. I'm unsure where the line is drawn before people start going full Bacaudae.

As Glenn Reynolds says, the police are not there to protect the populace from criminals, but rather to protect the criminals from the populace.

If the police are ineffective, you end up with Sicilian-style vendettas, as evidenced currently by, e.g., gang tit-for-tat shootings in the ghetto.

They wear a uniform so they can't be picked out individually, and use the larger crowd - who share their goals - as shields/accomplices.

It was disabled after all the people figured out that they could make funny scrolling marquee text in their comments, which made the blog unreadable for anyone on a phone, and the promotion of it allowed some dipshit trolls to figure out how to exploit it to fully break the blog.

This is also why you can't have hyperlinked text in your comment.

I have four $20 4.5in angle grinders, out of a total of probably eight I've bought, they have built so much stuff I can't even list it and at $20 you can sacrifice one if you need to kill it - masonry blade, rubber gauntlets, instant hand-held wetsaw until it dies (and it finished the job.) Have HF transmission jack, oil drain, piles of hand tools, I'd rather have Snap-On but can't afford it and if you shop carefully this stuff works.

True for some of their stuff. When it comes, for instance, to small angle grinders, they have the 'Drill Master' line and the 'Chicago Electric' line.

I made the mistake of buying one of the former once, and it died within a week. The latter last until I kill them.

I have a cheap SDS hammerdrill that, compared to a decent Siemens or Hilti, is junk. But it cost me one day's rental on one of those at Home Depot and in five years of casual use is still doing fine.

A sane government would have RICO'd the unions involved, but the Bush administration did nothing.

198 There is a very real question as to whether our police and other institutions are secretly permitting these violent black-bloc progressives to terrorize law abiding citizens.

I read Gates of Vienna, and I've mentioned before that a very similar phenomenon has been going on in Europe for years. When citizens hold rallies to protest their governments' immigration policies, often "black bloc" types show up to disrupt the rallies. The protesters are called "racists" and "fascists", and the disrupters call themselves "Anti-Fascists", or "Antifa" for short.

Usually they do things like grab signs and tear down banners, but there have been cases of assaults against protesters. The police stand by and let it happen.

Since the anti-immigration protesters oppose their governments' policies and the Antifa seem to be in agreement with those policies, it's hard not to come to the conclusion that they have the tacit approval of the government. If so, they could be considered as something like "off the books" enforcers.

It's good and there are some glimmers of hope in it. One is that they seem to be following the same script, blacks riot and they claim to support them by rioting as well. Second is that you are primarily dealing with intellectuals. They had one guy in the Weather Underground that made bombs (after they destroyed the townhouse). He was the only guy that was mechanically minded. I think it's still a lot like that with the current group of radicals.

They may catch the perpetrators later, but they do fuck all in preventing the original crime. If you live in Chitcago, they don't even do that. Their clearance rate for homicides is less than 25%. More than THREE OUT OF FOUR MURDERERS ARE NEVER IDENTIFIED. That is Blue City Justice!

They still have the duty to arrest criminals who are on the loose and to carry on investigations, which puts a good amount of them on the streets.

But protecting the public is not a requirement of any police force. The SCOTUS already decided on this. And this is why it is un-Constitutional and asinine for places to deny citizens their lawful right to arm themselves, and even when they do many states deny citizens the right to protect themselves (places with the law that you must flee if you think you mi8ght be able to) even while the police are under no obligation to actually protect anyone.

Also per ORC 161.625, the maximum sentence for a Class C felony is 5 years. So the only way he could get 50 years is if it was 5 years per conviction running consecutive and not concurrent.

Oh and here's the Oregon sentencing grid.

When did they get it the clearance rate that high? In 2016 it was 18.9%, as per HeyJackass.com.

325 >>The police are under no obligation to make foot patrols. As to them riding around in boats and helicopters and trying to spy on every American because they suck at actually arresting criminals ... I'd prefer they not. We run into the same shit with the federal government basically declaring that all cash transactions are suspicious ... because criminals work in cash. It's bullshit and the idea that they are doing that to "protect me" is not even laughable.

Well your first statement is just factually wrong. Police officers are indeed compelled to do foot patrols. They aren't just out there going on a stroll, they are doing their patrol. It's their job and if they don't do it they lose their job. That's called required.

As the rest, have you ever actually lived in a big city? Because I have for many years. The cops aren't just riding around randomly spying on people, they are there to help keep shit from breaking out. And you better believe that everyone knows it and it does in fact make many people think twice before going off.

In fact, that is the entire point of patrols. When I was living in San Juan, the cops would ride around with their lights flashing for the specific reason of letting everyone know they were there. It works.

And if you don't believe it watch what happens when there is a blackout in a big city or during a crisis when cops are busy handling an emergency. Break ins, looting, muggings, assaults and the rest of the bag.

There are good cops and bad cops. There are also shitty politicians who prohibit cops from doing their jobs. But cops who turn out in riot gear and actually do their jobs are indeed protecting citizens and property regardless of what SCOTUS says.

No one is going around killing criminals. As of the moment. But the courts have held that the police have only a general duty to protect the populace. So if there is enough unchecked criminality and people have the means of defending themselves against it they aren't going to read Miranda rights before taking action.

354 If you've got to buy Harbor Freight, at least buy whatever their "best" offering is in any given product line.

Their Heavy Duty sockets and wrenches, while not up to the workload demands of a professional mechanic, should be more than good enough for the casual home tinkerer.

The Husky line, sold at Lowe's, is pretty good import stuff.

Power tools? Buy American, buy Milwaukee, if you can. Or, buy Hitachi. Hell, for pneumatic nail guns, buy ONLY Hitachi.

For me, the bargains at Harbor Freight are more along the lines of cheap air-gun hoses, connectors, and low stress tools such as oil-filter wrenches and the like.

I did have to buy a no-name imitation of a Fein-Tool, so as to cut-out termite damaged studs last year. The tool works okay, but the cheap-ass blades they sell there for it won't last for but about two cuts through a 2"x4".

They're an expedient substitute, when you're on a tight budget.

But if you find you need to use that tool with any regularity? Upgrade the damn thing to something truly professional grade. Soon as you can, too.

363 Every single state, even the reddest of the red Oklahoma, has a large population of liberals. Break that up and you give the rest of the state a chance to override them. We have to use their development laws to restrict development in the cities. They want to have high density housing in the cities. Force them to keep it low density and make them develop outside the city. Cut funding to the cities every way you can. There are a lot of lawyers out there and we need to hire good ones and hack away at this. Makes a lot more sense than a shooting war.

It's the kind of thing that can get a cop jammed up with his chain of command for dereliction of duty, if that's the way that the brass wants to roll. But, as far as going into court and getting cash money from the city, no, you can't say that they had that kind of binding obligation.

But an uncomfortable truth is that some lynchees were white. That tends to get swept under the rug, because it doesn't serve the Narrative.

Granted, lynching is not optimal in a society that purports to be under the Rule of Law. But I have to figure that in small towns where everyone knew each other's business, that if So-and-So was known to have an unhealthy interest in children, and a child got raped, well... Shit happens.

at least according to the courts

If you're referring to the SCOTUS ruling, as was noted above that was a very narrow ruling of a person who was seeking damages because of process, not the overall duty. The courts are merely limiting the liability of an individual cop or police department to be held liable for how they perform their job.

400 I've brought this up before, but back in the bad old days of lynchings, I can't help wondering how many lynchees were guilty as hell and got exactly what they deserved?

Hell, something like every tenth old Western show was about the sheriff stepping in to prevent a lynching. Some of them were even set up so you knew the guy who was going to be lynched was guilty, but the hero was on the side of law and order.

And *that* is where the "the police are to protect the criminals" line comes from. The police are intended to depersonalize crime, cutting off the cycle of vendetta and feuding that marks tribal society. Part of that involves ensuring the accused makes it to trial -- which means protecting them from their victims and the rest of society.

There is no need for vigilantism. We have the federal government.

The federal government is quite practiced at enforcing the Constitution on localities when it wishes.

Perhaps what President Trump should do is appoint a federal Provost Marshall with a suitable armed force for the Berkeley district and "reconstruct" the local authorities to ensure they respect the Bill of Rights, including freedom of speech.
