And last but perhaps not least, some video of Keanu Reeves' weapons training for "John Wick 2." Everyone around here who has done any shooting that requires speed is well aware how awesomely difficult it is. Reeves seems to be proficient, and that requires lots of practice. I think I saw at least one safety failure, but in his mild defense, everyone does stupid shit occasionally. The last time I did speed shooting I realized at one point, just after I had holstered my pistol that I had been pointing it at my foot. A loaded pistol. Round in the chamber (hammer down, finger off trigger at least). So somebody else gets to throw the first rock.

I also love that all the baddies on House Of Cards, even Frank Underwood, are supposedly Democrats. Although I have a hunch I wouldn't be that big on the show anyway.

I watched the first two seasons. I enjoyed it. Acting is good, the characters are interesting, and the plot is...well....sort of silly, but still entertaining.

Oooohhh.... GOT content! Yeah, I resisted watching the damn show until last year, after trying the first couple of episodes. It had Sean Bean, but it was too boring and had too much butt sex. But.... I got roped into jumping in around mid season 4 through 5 last year and got hooked. I like the political jousting and skullduggery that echoes the period of the Saxon, through Norman to the Plantagenet thrones.
I was digging Ramsay Bolton (best character ever), but they bumped him off. Liked The Hound with Arya and who I'm rooting for is Littlefinger. Love that guy. That uppity blond bint with the dragons needs to die.

I don't think they ran out of material. Instead, I think that the executive producers finally got a look at the end picture, realized that they had the freedom to do whatever they felt was necessary to get there, and started culling storylines.
Notice that Dorne hasn't shown up since the first episode of Season 6. That feels like the producers saying, "We know what we need to do, and it's not here."

Martin's been writing GoT for about 30 years. I'd be sick of it too.
I loved the first season of Outlander but felt the second season was a healthy step down in quality. And then I read summaries of the rest of the books of the series and discovered that it's just an ongoing series that has no endgame. I'm must less enthusiastic about it now.

They are wrapping GOT up in season 8. They said a total of 12-14 episodes left after season 6 with season 7 having 7. 82-85 episodes total IICR.
Tons of stuff going on in that show as well so I'll have to watch them again.
I font see George RR Marteen finishing the series he wrote, which is disappointing.

More like a cross between LOTR and The Sopranos. The original story was basically the Wars of the Roses, with hints of dragons and ice zombies. It's gotten more fantasy over time.

Give the show a shot and persist with it. It's got great characters that develop well and the story cracks along... It mostly doesn't dwell too long on any of the plots, major or sub... so it doesn't get bogged down very often.
... and I very much dislike fantasy, dragons, swords and sorcery and zombie type stuff. It delivers even to someone who hates that stuff.

I think this is mostly obvious in two ways:
1) The ending to the show. That's not a narrative denouement. It's a middle finger.
2) The second to last season included an entire episode that showed Tony's daughter and her boyfriend working through major problems then deciding to get married. In the final season, there is a single line of dialogue to explain away the guy's absence (they broke up). One of your most important secondary characters goes from engaged to single, and all that deserves is a single line of dialogue? That's a middle finger.

The Sopranos is the best of the bunch. I've watched House of Cards, but the BBC version from a few decades ago is far superior. Also shorter. It was a miniseries. Something like 4 episodes, and done. The American version is just to stretched out and it is getting repetitive.
I liked Breaking Bad, but not as much as some of the other HBO series.
The Wire, Rome, Deadwood, Generation Kill, and The Sopranos are the ones I would recommend.
Also, the spin-off from Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul has been pretty good, perhaps even superior to its parent.

The second half of the second season is actually a much abbreviated seasons 3 and 4. The time jump changes almost every character and their relationships to every other character between episodes.
It makes it really hard for me to enjoy from that point on because so much is just missing.

There's a show called "Jail" that is similar to "Cops". It shows the arrested people being brought into the county jail for processing. A good share of the people are drunk, on drugs, have horrible attitudes, or mentally ill. These people are terrible to deal with. I couldn't do it.
When I was growing up if you had behaved that way around parents or, God forbid, nuns, you would have been hit. In public school high schools teachers threw kids up against lockers for a lot less.

I was interested at first. Getting into the mythos of vampires and seeing what the show vcame up with as far as how the were organized and governed themselves. But, the series kept on adding new types of beasts. Werewolves, werecats, Minotaurs, fairies, shapeshifters, etc, etc, etc.
I think they wanted to make some point about all the colors of the rainbow, but it was just too fantastical. Plus, once they went explicitly into male homosexual sex, I had to say goodbye. Just not something I want to watch.

I liked Borgia (Canal+ version) but I never finished the last season for that reason - they has to compress everything.

The second half of the second season is actually a much abbreviated seasons 3 and 4. The time jump changes almost every character and their relationships to every other character between episodes.
It makes it really hard for me to enjoy from that point on because so much is just missing.

--Rome is an all-time fave of mine. A few months ago I bought super cheap the complete series of Spartacus. It's a guilty pleasure but I enjoy it. It is rife with cartoon-scale violence, gratuitous T [and] A and beefcake, and even has satisfying revenge themes, all the while with almost every character engaging in Shakespearean dialog with each other.
I'm only in Season 2, which had to be made a prequel because the original Sparatcus actor died fairly suddenly of lymphoma. Good to watch while drinking so as to engage your id.

Love The Wire. Last season has some holes, but overall it's my favorite long series. Amazing ensemble cast. Themes play out over the full five seasons. Season four is off the charts good when the "kids" get introduced. Despite the sometimes leftist bent of the creators, main theme is that institutions fail but personal redemption is possible. Van Helsing wasn't good. Not turrible. But not really good. Dracula was pretty much useless. The special effects were... underwhelming to say the least. Could've been so much better. I mean, a vampire movie that had Kate Beckinsale in it... how could it go wrong? Oh, looks at Underworld 2, 4, and probably 5.
But Underworld (the original) was fantastic. As was the original Blade. (until the final fight between Frost and Blade. Yeesh. What a failure that was.

Not sure if it has been said, but the first Season of GoT is essentially the first book. Later seasons advance the plot/story generally, but there is no correspondence to a season per book. Also, the writers start adding shit that isn't in the books. I think I watched up to the colorful wedding, so I'm behind at least two seasons.
I finished all the books, though.

Your insurance company will try to get the people to settle.
I would do what the other posters have mentioned as well. Screen shot any social media posts.
If you know who the people are and know they are faking, do not record them yourself.
We go after fake workmens comp cases. The employees are working out, dancing, carrying heavy things etc., but we have to hire an investigator.

The 2nd season of True Detective was underrated. It wasn't as good as the first, plus the whole thing was different. But, for me, once I got past comparing it to the 1st season, I enjoyed it.
The opposite with Band of Brothers. The first season was awesome, but the second, The Pacific, was disappointing. I even went back later and gave it a second chance. I was right in the first place: it sucked.

He had the tumor mostly removed last early last week. Just got the pathology back Monday. I think he'll start radiation next week or the week after. Plus he's looking into alternative and experimental treatments.

I wouldn't call The Pacific the second season of Band of Brothers. They were completely different shows, both in subject matter, and in style.
I remember watching a few of the early episodes of The Pacific, and - aside from Alligator Creek - being utterly and completely bored. The fighting in the Pacific was some of the most savage of the war. But HBO managed to make it *boring*.

This is part of the reason for getting a personal lawyer - to deal with your own insurance company. For a small accident this is usually no big deal but the one described (the car rolling a few times, etc.) it's best to have ones own counsel to deal with his own insurance company and make sure that he doesn't get roped into anything stupid.
Anyway, that's my advice for serious accidents. People can take it or leave it.

It's only three seasons and I really felt that with the characters and storylines introduced in season 3, it could have been extended one or two more seasons. Instead, Eva Green decided she didn't want to continue doing the show, so they had to wrap everything up quickly. It left a lot of questions unanswered.

I liked the dialogue. It really sounded like how people really talk to each other.
After Deadwood was fcuked by HBO, I watched Milch's "John From Cincinnati". It was quirky and weird, and I liked it. Unfortunately, that also got cut short and they tried to wrap crap up in the last episode.

Did you or someone close to you have glioblastoma or are you on the treatment side? My fil understands the risk but there wouldn't be progress in treatments if they didn't try new things. With this type of tumor it seems like, for some, there is really nothing to lose by trying to get into a study or trying something promising. There are no guarantees in life. There was lot of good drama and writing, but I gave that show up in season 3. The character Dorian Grey is about teh ghey and nothing else. He is a wrecking ball to the show on the scale of Jar Jar Binks. Granted the character that Oscar Wilde created never changes and never learns, but that's the unanswered task for the writers.

are you on the treatment side? My fil understands the risk but there
wouldn't be progress in treatments if they didn't try new things. With
this type of tumor it seems like, for some, there is really nothing to
lose by trying to get into a study or trying something promising. There
are no guarantees in life. If you have any suggestions you'd like to

Treatment side. I have had many patients in studies and have encouraged many patients to enroll, but by definition in a well designed study not all patients will be assigned to the experimental treatment. Some studies end up stopped due patients doing less well than standard treatment. Being on a study protocol can actually limit treatment options. So, it is possible to lose. Saddest cases I've seen are patients who spend the time they have chasing all over the country looking for a cure that doesn't exist instead of spending time with family and ticking off some bucket list.

Antenna ran the series finale of Newhart (where he wakes up in bed as Bob Hartley with Suzanne Pleshette )just last month.
I used to would have said I liked the second series, Newhart, better than the first, but now, watching them side-by-side, I can't really say which I like the best. Both are equally good.
And Newhart took about two seasons to get into the groove. It didn't really good until Stephanie and Michael became regulars. Of course, Larry and the Daryls came a little before, and they were a big part of, but it took Michael and Stephanie to make the complete package.

Many years ago I had to take my cat Smokey (half feral/half domesticated...weighed a solid 18 pounds) in for his shots. One dose had to be administered via nasal drops. The vet tried to hold Smokey, but he wasn't having any of it. So I told the vet I would hold him...not a positive experience. I was in the Navy at the time and was on my lunch break, so I was in uniform. Needless to say, Smokey dug into my uniform top with his claws. By the time I got back home to drop him off, I had blood spots all over my top from him digging into my chest. The little bastard!

Also, at his blog the other day, Ken Levine was sharing information about the production of Cheers. On the set, the bar was fully functional... but had no refrigeration. George Wendt et al had to drink what Levine called "warm 3.2 beer" onstage.
And, at one point in the first season when Cheers wasn't doing great, NBC asked if they could try shooting on videotape. They did a test run and, according to Levine, the bar looked horrible on videotape. Something about shooting on film made it look much more real.

Watching the second season now, and knowing how it turned it, it's fun to watch it come together -- see them figure out what worked. You can see Stephanie coming into her own, becoming more insane. And then they hit on Peter Scolari as Michael.
I saw the first episode he appeared in the other day. He was not the same Michael you remember. But you can see him and Stephanie transforming into the zany characters you remember.

There have been two times in my life that the IC people have gone up against a President, that I know of. Each time it involved secrets that could be, or were being compromised and sex. But also each time both of these things were kept hidden to keep the secrets and/or to hide that there was even a war being fought.
Going public is an unusual tactic. It smells more like the usual lefty thing of smearing their opponent by accusing them of doing exactly what they, the left, are, have, and will be doing. The leakers saying we can't brief the President because his administration will leak classified info, so we're leaking classified info first.

I got the impression that they were trying to set up for a season 4 at the beginning of season three and suddenly found out that they were cancelled. I didn't have a problem with Dorian Grey. His character was a monster of a different sort than all the others, but no less dangerous or monsterous. A second monkey is removed, and the previous newcomer joins the 3 oldsters in beating down the new newcomer.
Keep repeating, and pretty soon no monkey will go for the bananas, despite none of the remaining monkeys having ever been sprayed.

A good technique to avoid that is verbal judo (yes, it is a thing) and realizing that the person "dising" you is purposely trying to make you loose your temper. That doesn't always work and you end up rolling around in the mud, but I always preferred talking to fighting.

It's a great reminder, however, of what happens when rule of law falls apart. Do progressives really want that?
Also, that the "politics is not personal, the personal is politics." Everytime I see some shit-stirring by some hellhole third world nation (North Korea, Uganda, Russia), I'm reminded that they're doing that because the guy in the big seat feels like his dick is too small and has to pump it up.
That's why Democrat Frank Church screwed the world over by stopping political assassinations. Dictators are always willing to sacrifice their people if it makes their dick hard. They're less willing when they and their family are in the gun sights.
