Bill Kristol went completely off his rocker sometime in mid-2015 and hasn't stopped falling yet.
My favorite Bill Kristol moment of the last year is still last November when he earnestly tweeted: Bill Kristol @BillKristol I'm back on Acela--getting in touch w/ Middle Americans outside Beltway...lawyers talking reliance, consultants talking disintermediation... 12:53 PM - 1 Nov 2016 https://twitter.com/billkristol/status/793496247508340736 Because nothing screams "Middle America" like chatting with consultants along the Acela corridor about disintermediation. Might tepid enthusiasm for Trump has morphed into startled exhilaration as the fundamental corruption of government and media continues to emerge. We are in a war folks, but now the enemy has cast off its mask. The 'elites' desperately need to think themselves superior, which is why elites can't be conservatives. Understand von Mises, Hayek, and Milton Friedman. Central control by elites does not work because it cannot work. Kristol is showing the same blend of arrogance and ignorance that Obama displayed for 9 years. The Deep State and the Media have declared war on us through Trump.

These proclamations from the Left, the Media (birm), and from the "Elite" are declarations of seditious intent. Intent actualized by the deep state and the rioters.
IOW, these are declarations of war against a legitimately elected government before that government has had even the opportunity to prove or disprove their rationale for this war. BK recently spoke of how white people are lazy anyway, and "we" would be better off replacing them with third world workers. (paraphrased). Obviously we are not serving the elite to their liking. Now he takes the obvious next step to say voting is OK, as long as we select on of the establishment tools (and obey them). It is obvious (or ought to be) that when Audi or Starbucks or any other business takes a political position, that they risk alienating half of their customers. Smart businesses learn to keep their politics quiet. But Kristol, as the publisher of The Weekly Standard, doesn't really have to worry about alienating liberals. He only has to worry about alienating a portion of the readers of his magazine. So other than those in the Deep State who also happen to subscribe to the Weekly Standard, who among his readers would join him in supporting the Deep State over that which we get through "normal and constitutional" politics? *** Again, presuming nukes aren't used, I presume the US Navy takes control of the sea space off Russia's coasts with relative ease - we'd probably lose a bunch of smaller surface ships and maybe a carrier or two. Maybe 10,000 dead sailors and airmen in the first week? The landings would be tough. Moving inland would be a nightmare. Much like in 1941 it would either be take Moscow before the winter or see your brilliant offensive turn into a stalemate with massive attrition. And were I China, that's when I would start making my moves - either seizing the Russia Far East (if conservative) or expanding into South East Asia (if playing a riskier game). Iran might also decide to pay a visit to the Gulf States and the Norks to up their blackmail game. Needless to say America would gain almost nothing out of such a move. The anger and resentment did not ratchet up until the first true ACT of opposition, committed by the liberal state of Massachusetts, sending Republican Scott Brown to put a stop to the Obamacare BS. After that, the people actually elected Republicans to democratically put a stop to the Obama agenda. First the House, then the Senate, and along the way, 2/3 of the state governors and their legislatures as well. And there's a KEY difference. Only a fool can make a rational case as to how the electorate did not send a clear message to Washington when they not only elected Trump in the face of near insurmountable, institutional advantages for Hillary, but also the House and Senate in Republican hands. "It gets, Joe, to two other issues. The first is we have never taken seriously from the very beginning Russia hacked our election. That was a 9/11 scale event. They attacked the core of our very democracy. That was a Pearl Harbor scale event." Posted by: Ignoramus at February 14, 2017 03:19 PM (SIY7D) Sure sounds like he's saying we should declare war on Russia. . . . .I agree. If anyone has any proof whatsoever that Russia did in fact attempt to hack anything that might have influenced the election, that would be an Act of War and Trump would need to retaliate. The problem with that is, there is no proof, not one single person or Agency has presented anything remotely constituting proof. And that Joint Report on the alleged Russian hacking was one lame A$$ power point on how not to secure your server. All the Dems have is stupid people who fell for the oldest email phising scams out there, and hired the absolute worst IT Company they could find. Oh, and they refused to turn the supposedly hacked server over to the FBI to do an investigation on. Posted by: The Great White Scotsman at February 14, 2017 03:46 PM (le7jz) 303
The purge of the CIA will be epic. Better to lose thousands of years of experience than have an agency actively undermining you.
*** The CIA was pretty weak from its inception. The OSS did some interesting things, but I can only really remember one CIA success during the whole cold war - when they blew up the Soviets fast eastern oil pipelines under Reagan. They were involved with some other successes, like Chile in 73, but that was really just supporting the plans of local anti-communists. The KGB's record stands as a pretty serious indictment considering their level of success during the same time period. Posted by: 18-1 at February 14, 2017 03:46 PM (X7E8f) 304

The one that saddens me is PJ O'Rourke, who is no longer funny and really doesn't get what happened in November. If you remember O'Rourke's schtick in the '80's, it was about being a "Republican Party Reptile" with a nice bank account and a great car. That was fine for the '80's but it doesn't suit 2017. He makes jokes about how every dad needs a Glock and a nanny, and you might agree with the Glock, but "nanny" just goes to show he's wedded to the old "country club GOP" not the icky people who don't have nannies or good stock portfolios.
I think he's not funny anymore because he realizes time has passed him by and the new edgy, funny guy on the right is Milo. O'Rourke sounds more like "Get off my lawn!" these days. Posted by: Donna and V. (sans ampersands at the present time) at February 14, 2017 03:48 PM (ZM2xo) 316

@345 not the CIA did NOT put the Shah of Iran in power. That whole myth aggravates me because the truth is actually out there, you can look it up.
Reza Pahlavi ascended to the Peacock Throne at the hands of the British in WWII because his father was pro-Nazi and the Brits needed the oil. The British. Before there was even a CIA. Now, there is this thing with Kermit Roosevelt and all that. The Left wants you to believe the CIA overthrew a "democratically elected leader" and installed the Shah. Which is total bullshit. The Shah had been in power already, the CIA's troublemaking (in conjunction with the British) was because there was a prime minister elected who was about to nationalize the oil companies (none of which were American, they were British!) and invite the Soviets in. So the CIA stirred up something, and the result was the Shah got dethroned and actually had to leave the country! It took a while for it all to come back together. But the CIA didn't make Reza Pahlavi the Shah. Posted by: blaster at February 14, 2017 04:05 PM (tewYv) 402

Posted by: Maritime at February 14, 2017 03:48 PM ------------------------ -No. They first turned against the Left because of its anti-anti-Communism (pro-Communism, really) but they soon became very strong critics of domestic leftism. -They were NOT obscure writers at all. People like Norman Podhoretz and Irving Kristol were BIG TIME writers well established in left-wing NY circles. (This is why the Left loathed them back in the day.) This is the thing. Irving K. and Norman P. were sailing along just fine in their lefty world until they saw that things had gone astray. They opened their eyes. They woke up. And as hard as it was, they had to follow the truth as best they could. Their children, alas, are stuck in the past and their comfortable world. They WILL NOT open their eyes. He is hiding something to be so perpetually OUTRAGED about the future swamp draining. His entire mind is thinking in enraged CAPS!!!! i think he forgets to bath he is so ENRANGED! He probably smells like mothballs, and farhts at this point, with moss growing on teeth, sharpened from the grinding at night as he soaks his mattress in flop sweat and urine. Then he wakes up, remembers November 9th, and his hysteria begins again. Looks in mirror, sees blood-shot pop-eyes and weeps for humanity while emitting little sobs to not alert the children of his impending institutionalization. -They were NOT obscure writers at all. People like Norman Podhoretz and Irving Kristol were BIG TIME writers well established in left-wing NY circles. If I may speak frankly and perhaps insensitively for a moment about Bill, his father and their intellectual circle.
I think the core of the Neocons have an assimilation problem. Remember, this movement started from a small community of European Jewish intellectuals that relocated from Eastern Europe to New York City in the 20th century. They established their own magazines and talking shops where they waxed forth on political theory, art, literature and so on, mostly just among themselves. For a while they were Marxist, but eventually flipped to support market economics. But what they carried back from the Old World was the lens through which they viewed society, reflecting their own particular history and circumstances, and having little to do with the USA. Hitler and the Czar and Stalin are simply not the most important figures in American history, but nevertheless will always loom the highest in the sociopolitical imagination of the Neocons and in whose garb they will often dress their opponents. When they looked out from their NYC salons at the rest of America, it was an intellectual version of the old New Yorker cartoon of the view of America from Manhattan. Beyond the Hudson River they saw the film studios of Los Angeles and not much else. When they looked in the other direction, they saw afar off what they considered to be the intellectual riches of Paris, of 19th Century Germany, etc. The fact that we Americans somehow managed to found a new nation by defeating the most powerful empire in the world, to settle a moving frontier and establish advanced civilization across an entire continent, to fight a civil war and end American slavery, to lead the worldwide industrial revolution, to build countless cities and railroads and highways, to invent most of the technological wonders of the modern world, to create an agricultural cornucopia on our continent that can feed much of the world, and on and on, all without the help of their superior intellect, seems to escape their notice. Gosh, how did we ever do it? When someone can nonchalantly and unselfconsciously toss out a comment in a public forum that it might be best if the American white working class were simply replaced by people brought in from other countries, and who believes that non-democratic rule by a cadre of elite globalists would be preferable to having a president whose main agenda is to revive industrial jobs for Americans and keep Americans safe from illegal immigration and terrorism, then I suggest we have someone who is only weakly assimilated to our country. Posted by: Mr Macca Bean at February 14, 2017 04:19 PM (Gh3fw) ===================== Here's the thing about political coalitions: They end up containing a wide variety of people who believe different things all claiming the same label. If we're going to get a party that's as Conservative as we want, then it'll take literally decades of work to topple the big government Republicans from every tier of the party. The Tea Party's efforts to do that have already born significant fruit, but as we all know, we still have a long way to go. You want to knock those people outside of the Conservative Label? Then you have to make sure that they are actually so far off from the center of that label that no one would take the label seriously. We may sit back and say, "Neo-cons are really conservative", but there are very large swaths of the Republican Party that say they are. We need to alter those numbers so that the Party leaves them, and they don't leave the Party. The front lines of that fight is really at the state and local level. As long as there are governors and state legislatures that would agree with Bill Kristol and continue to support Lindsey Graham, then the next generation of Republicans is sure to come out just like them. We're most likely not going to change Lindsey Graham's mind. We're also most likely not going to knock him out of the Senate (as much as I would like). A more productive use of our time and treasure would be to make sure that the person who takes that seat from Graham when he retires is chosen from a source of Conservative Republicans more like Ted Cruz than Graham. You want to fight a real fight? Fight state Republican Party's that are Republican in Name Only. It will take literally years to bear the fruit at the federal level, but it will bear fruit, and it'll pay more dividends than another abortive primary campaign against John McCain. When they see obvious pussy boys like Kristol it confirms their prejudices. Then when Weakly Substandard types repeatedly advocate endless war it REALLY pisses them off.
Trump won not despite, but because of, his aggressive nature. This is also why Kristol hates him: he sees an alpha male who can kick his ass. (To be fair about it, most beta males can kick his ass. It will be a hell on earth as they lose power, the power to control Congress and the POTUS due to the puppet strings of lobbies and special interest groups...and, yes, even foreign governments. 570: if their were ever a politician who had "DEBILITATING SCANDAL" as a flashing tattoo on his forehead, it's Lindsay Graham. He isn't light in the loafers, he's buoyant in air.

Wow. That's pretty out there.
I prefer democracy when the votes are within the ambit of my preferences. Otherwise, I prefer rule by unelected faceless clerks and money handlers. Which is to say. I prefer what I desire even if it means no democracy. Did he have stroke or something? He wasn't this outraged over Obama who was a fire breathing socialist. This is absolutely correct. It would be a Right version of the Left's "Long March", but that worked out quite well for them, now didn't it? Posted by: Curmudgeon at February 14, 2017 04:34 PM (ujg0T) It worked for them because conservative saps like you worked to hold everything together while they tried to rip it down. If you haven't noticed they're more than willing to bring down the temple if they down get their way. They will not do you the service you did them. There will be no conservative "long march". Wow. He has more balls than I thought to actually admit it. But only because he thinks the deep state will win. I hope he is wrong and gets his full due.

Ted Cruz knows that the real problem is "New York Values", even if that pisses off Donald Trump and all his yankee voters when Cruz says it.

I know why Ben Howe and Leon Wolf have their platform for unhinged Trump Derangement Syndrome at The Blaze; look at its even more unhinged owner. What's the Weekly Standard's excuse for having someone on board openly preferring shadow government to duly elected?

I would not be surprised if this creepy, arrogant prick gets wrapped up when the pizzagate thingy breaks. If you really want to know what a cockslapper BK is, scan his prissy, DC cocktail circuit tweets. ~shudder~
