Claim From Whistleblower: Planned Parenthood Had Minimum "Quotas" For Abortions; Rewarded Managers Who Encouraged More Abortions with Pizza Parties and Paid Days Off

I'm sure you've seen this, as it's been wall to wall on CNN.

Just kidding, obviously.

"I trained my staff the way that I was trained, which was to really encourage women to choose abortion and to have it at Planned Parenthood because it counts towards our goal," Thayer said.

"I felt like I was more of a salesman sometimes, to sell abortions," said former Planned Parenthood nurse Marianne Anderson. "We were constantly told we have quotas to meet to stay open."

62 What gets me is that if women do not want to have children there are a LOT of different ways to prevent that. I had no problem with killing a stupid law in CT to allow access to birth control although that SHOULD have been done at the State level. But using that as Stare Decisis creep to make abortion legal throughout the country regardless of State laws was over the line.

And that has resulted in ghouls like Goslin and professional abortion mills like PP that are actually partially funded by the government EVEN though that is against the law.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at February 07, 2017 03:58 PM (mpXpK)

63 Sadly, this will be ignored.

A week or two ago I noticed a discussion on Facebook about LiveAction's search for pre-natal care at Planned Parenthood. A friend of a friend was stating that the whole thing was nonsense because Planned Parenthood has never claimed to offer pre-natal care.

I observed (merely observed; I offered no opinion on the matter either way) that the pre-recorded on-hold message at one of the clinics advertised pre-natal care, even though the woman who eventually answered the phone said the clinic didn't offer it. The friend of friend responded by calling it "propaganda".

They don't care. They're desperate to justify Planned Parenthood's existence, and they'll go to just about any lengths to avoid embarrassing the organization. The fact that not all that long ago it was seriously argued that Planned Parenthood offered breast cancer screenings (they don't - the head of the organization testified as much in DC) has probably been shoved down the memory hole.

67 It all depends on the profits and earnings ratio.

Without profits, you can't stay in business. Even the leftists know this; usually just after the money runs out.

You think the operators of this business were doing this for altruistic reasons? No. It is about the money. It is always about the money.

That is why you need political power. With power, you get the money.

-Defend yourself or your family with deadly force against a violent attacker
-Enforce national borders
-Refuse to bake a wedding cake for a ceremony that you are morally opposed to
But you do have the right to:
-Murder your own children
-Have any sort of sexual deviancy as long as you vote the right way
-Punch people who disagree with you politically, as long as you call them Nazis

I'm sure there's more, but I think I get the gist.

Added benefit:

Less money to Democratic politicians.

It won't be an immediate drop off. In fact, the donations will probably increase in the short term, but as the fight gets further and further into the rear view mirror, the harder will it become for PP to fundraise off of the action. 106 Pelosi did not say it's a Sacament. She said it's "abortion is sured ground" which is till really bad and the discussion should not be political. It's two women Episcopal priests who said that. One is Carter Heyward, a lesbian who said "If women were in charge abortion would be a Sacrament" and the other is Katherine Ragsdale, also a lesbian and the former Dean of an Episcopal Seminary. This is not an indictment against lesbians-but they often express very radical opinions about abortion.

Lyrics
You may think I'm foolish
For the foolish things I do
You may wonder how come I love you
When you get on my nerves like you do
Well baby you know you bug me
There ain't no secret 'bout that
Well come on over here and hug me
Baby I'll spill the facts
Well honey it ain't your money
'Cause baby I got plenty of that
I love you for your pink Cadillac
Crushed velvet seats
Riding in the back
Cruising down the street
Waving to the girls
Feeling out of sight
Spending all my money
On a Saturday night
Honey I just wonder what you do there in back
Of your pink Cadillac
Pink Cadillac

Less money to Democratic politicians.

It won't be an immediate drop off. It'll probably follow the same path of donations as union donations at the state level before, during, and after a successful right to work implementation.

Yeah, more or less that.

Personally, from a very pragmatic standpoint, I believe abortion is an evil, but the exertion of Federal authority needed to completely eliminate it nationwide would be a greater evil. You could compare it to a Federal gun ban or the leaky 'war on drugs'.

There is, however, no medical rationale for it being legal as late as it is, something not seen in most of the world. Nor is there any moral rationale for requiring insurers and state and Federal health programs to pay for it.

Yes, if you get a 12 year old having sex w/a lot of partners there's a better chance she'll need an abortion that if they promoted chastity and monogamy.

204 A bit off topic for this thread, but:

I have lots of lefty progressive friends. I try not to talk about politics with them.

I saw this on Facebook, shared by one of these friends.

----------
Effective Resistance Suggestions:
1. Don't use his name;
2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone;
3. Do not argue with those who support him--it doesn't work;
4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state;
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their
darkest policies will grow;
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
7. Support artists and the arts;
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
9. Take care of yourselves; and
10. Resist!

Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, "When it
gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system's
game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your
face - to make you fight! Because once they've got you violent, then
they know how to handle you. The only thing they don't know how to
handle is non-violence and humor."
When you post or talk about
him, don't assign his actions to him, assign them to "The Republican
Administration," or "The Republicans." This will have several effects:
the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for
their association with him or stand up for what some of them don't like;
he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican
representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections"
----------

The TL;DR:

"they [Trump administration?] want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their
darkest policies will grow;"
The establishment wants violence from those who oppose it: "Because once they've got you violent, then
they know how to handle you."
"Republican
representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections"

I think they really believe all three of those things. (Obama was "The Lightworker". Have they started calling Trump "The Darkworker" yet?)

By the way, it would be great if all the leftists actually followed this plan. It would be a dramatic improvement in civility and a reduction in rioting.

I also like the idea of forcefully associating the party brand with the actions of its leaders. We should do that to the Democrats.

237 Non-profit is not non-revenue.

You have to make revenue.

They make revenue from abortions.

So they incent their managers for more abortions for more revenue. If you are in a business, you want your business managers to make more business. That's how it works. Why would anyone be shocked or surprised, why would they deny it?
Posted by: blaster at February 07, 2017 03:58 PM (tewYv)

Exactly. Non profit simply means that there are no shareholders or ownership that receives dividends at the end of the financial year. Non profit have to make enough money to cover all expenses and are allowed to have money kept in trust or in some type of account for future operating expenses. They must demonstrate they provide some kind of charity, educational, club, etc. (the letter designation after the 501 is assigned to organizations based on what type of non profit they are. It also denotes what percentage tax deduction the IRS allows contributors to take of their donation.

For example, a country club can be a non profit, however your dues to that club will not be tax deductible. Your donation to your non profit local library, however will be fully deductible

The difference is in the purpose of the non profit and it's overall public value.
It is an IRS tax device that allows qualifying organizations to be relieved of taxes on the income generated to the organization. The organizations are permitted to have employees, CEO's, BOD, etc. All salaries, bonuses, etc. must be within standard limits for the size of the organization.

Your local five dog animal rescue can be a non profit. The NFL is a non profit.

Posted by: Moron Pundit at February 07, 2017 04:24 PM (xeeHA)

The abolitionist movement was very rare. Rarer still was going out of their way to abolish it everywhere.

Slaver was indeed normal for most of the planet throughout history, especially in larger civilizations. In some, such as China, there was not much de jure slavery, but society was rather stratified. In other countries, especially England, the Common Law had no provision for it as slavery went against the Common Law. This is why slavery in English colonies existed because of positive statutory law and the idea that the colonies did not have the full jurisdiction of the mother country.

The sub-Saharan slave trade, as we know it, already existed before the Europeans showed up. They simply tapped into an existing market.

Though the French abolished slavery (for a while at least) during the French Revolution, the Anglo-English abolition movement was on far firmer historical ground and not based on revolutionary notions, but on the incompatibility of slavery with their civilization and the Common Law.

Even when slavery was illegal, the slave trade was banned in America as soon as it was Constitutional to do so, and the U.S. Navy was involved in stopping slave trading.

248 Vile, vile, vile.

I know someone who volunteered at Planned Parenthood. At first, she was sort of in my face about it -- "I know you're pro-life, but I believe in a woman's choice," blah, blah, blah. This was back when I would still bother expressing anything politically out in the world, before I tired of dealing with the never ending bullying and virtue signalling.

Anyway, she ended up leaving PP, because she said, she eventually realized the only days she left there happy were when a woman ended up changing her mind and keeping the baby.

But, she was quick to tell me, she's still pro-choice.

====================

It's interesting that the three examples I can think of (American in the 19th century, Britain, and France) all were started by people who really didn't live in the places where slavery was common.

America was the North where slavery had been legislated to oblivion. Britain was on the British Isles, where there were virtually no slaves, and had to do with British colonies (which had no direct say in Parliament) and France was the same was as Britain.

Seems like a pattern of busybodies walking into someone else's part of the world and forcing emancipation. That sounds worse than I wanted it to...

263 @217 Do they have quotas and a reward system for getting women mammograms? Because they claim that they are all about providing women with healthcare, so mammograms and other preventive medical procedure would be a bigger priority than abortions. Isn't detecting breast cancer early worth some pizza parties?
-----------------

There was a big todo several years ago when one breast cancer charity (Susan G. Komon Foundation, iirc, though I'm probably botching the name badly) decided to cut its donations to Planned Parenthood. People were up in arms, and we were told that poor women would lose access to breast cancer screenings.

The head of Planned Parenthood recently got pulled in to testify in front of Congress. In addition to some other little tid-bits of information (for instance, PP had a net profit of over twice the amount of money that the government gives them), she stated that Planned Parenthood doesn't offer breast cancer screenings. The organization merely provides referrals.

This is on video, by the way. You can watch it on the Congressional web page devoted to the testimony.

IIRC, it was the Pope who essentially killed it by banning the Christian on Christian forms of all sorts of stuff that had previously been accepted as the rewards of winning a war. Christians couldn't make Christian PoWs slaves, weren't supposed to rape Christian women during their post-siege rampages, etc... Since most of Europe was Christian, that essentially meant that slaves wouldn't exist within Europe. So Continental Europe learned to live without.

That ignores the issue of serfdom, of course. But a serf was technically part of the land, and couldn't be sold from one master to another without also transferring the real estate.

315 Before shooting down Trump on being in support of forfeiture laws make sure you get the whole story and not just some "edited text" from fake news. Remember the Supreme Court has only heard one case and that was one involving the law as it was intended to be implemented. A crime lord had been CONVICTED and his assets used in the crime were confiscated.

What a lot of corrupt police are doing now is taking money and assets from people without them even being charged with a crime. That is as entirely different story.

It would be the Old Testament, in the books of Moses. Slaves under the Law were basically indentured servants that had the option to make it lifelong if they wanted.

In the New Testament, off the top of my head the only time I can remember it being a topic is some behind the scenes stuff. IIRC, Paul met a runaway slave, and convinced the slave to return to his master. I think one of the epistles is connected to that (though I can't remember the details).

347 Disclaimer: I really don't know. By the middle ages, there were few true slaves in Western Europe (though many peasants and other proles were treated, essentially, like slaves). I think it was evil Christianity with its radical ideas of each soul being worthy that killed it (for white people, anyway). Once exploration discovered a huge source of black people, slavery got its second wind. And then it was the Brits who took the lead in abolishing slavery.

It seems to me that Christianity is intrinsically incompatible with
slavery of any kind. Once you acknowledge the humanity of a group of
people, you just can't enslave them. But it appears to have taken a
long time to percolate in Western Civilization.

People seem to forget that Christianity didn't spring fully formed into a vacuum. It took 300 years before it was accepted and open in the Roman Empire, and spent the next 1200 years pushing into pagan territories throughout Europe. A lot of Western history is shaped by the conflict between the Church and the older pagan traditions and societies that were slowly being dismantled. The Church often made compromises in order to advance its cause.

As soon as the Spanish began settling in the Caribbean, even while Columbus was still around, they debated the question of whether it was moral to enslave the natives.
There was a big conference, mainly of priests, held to address the question --- at Tordesillas IIRC, maybe Valladolid, I don't recall.
They determined that chattel slavery was contrary to Christian charity.
This is why the Indians, though often treated brutally, were never technically enslaved.

But sometime after Isabel died, the colonists managed to get "exceptions" for Africans who, they argued, were already slaves. That's how you got the plantation economy and black slaves in the Caribbean islands and coasts.

As I posted a few days ago. I read a history book that a friend of mine had who attended Wofford College and it was a required read for them . It said that at the time of the war in 1861 the economy in the South was 95% tied to slavery in one way or another.

What is even more ironic is that you could possibly blame slavery not dying on the vine before 1861 on Eli Whitney. Cotton was not profitable because of the labor intensive way it had to be processed before it could be used. After the invention of the cotton gin it became a huge cash crop and gave a new lease on life to slavery.

But there were more things on the table than slavery that pushed for the south to leave the union. The South was paying the major portions of taxes for the federal budget and especially through the imposition of the "Tariffs of Abomination". Money flowed North for use in federally subsidized railroads and canals while the South payed for it. That came close to starting the South from leaving long before 1861.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at February 07, 2017 05:03 PM (mpXpK)

370 The whole pro-abortion movement is really quite insulting to women.

As IF there were no means of prevention re: unwanted pregnancy!

As IF those methods aren't already available to one and all, free of charge, locally. (Even at schools!)

As IF we didn't have "sex education" whether we or our parents agreed to it, and *don't know how babies happen.*

Well, well...

Since abortions so important, so necessary, so... "sacred" --

--perhaps they should be *required* of those not capable of supporting themselves or their progeny? (SARC!!! so nobody misses that!)

--

But really, the Dem's only 'wanted' children are those who grow up with their hands out, and produce even more of the same.

Like the late, great George Carlin said: "...broodmares for the State."

All true, but with one exception:

On the west coast of South America, the Spaniards DID try to enslave the natives (in Inca country, i.e. Peru and environs), to work in the gold and silver mines, in the early days of colonization. But the natives simply wouldn't work. At all. Refused to do anything. The Spaniards quickly gave up on the idea as simply unfeasible from a practical standpoint -- quite aside from any moral considerations.

378 I'm glad there's more than a couple libertarian leaning conservatives here. Some, of course, lean more than others. But when it comes to police entrapment and/or civil forfeiture cases my BP spikes into the stratosphere.

380 All those countries were freshly independent from Spain. Slavery in Cuba (1886), Puerto Rico (1871) et al., lasted until much longer.

Haiti was French, and Brazil Portuguese.

Mainland Portugal actually abolished slavery sometime in the mid 1700s, and Brazil was independent around 1820.

I was just referring to the former Spanish colonies ending slavery, and not Spain proper, as evidence by the retention of slavery into the lat 19th century.

No, actually, I just made it up on the spot right now, but you've given me a brilliant idea...

What shall we call this musical? How about "The Texas Wire-hanger Massacre"?

Posted by: zombie at February 07, 2017 05:11 PM (jBuUi)

382 372 Thomas Sowell has written about the economics of
slavery in America, and he suggests that it was doomed to failure no
matter what.

I agree with him. As the industrial revolution unfolded a short time after the civil war ended it surely would have died on the vine. 600,000 deaths and a century of hatred after reconstruction could have been avoided.

386 I like an easy life as much as the next person but it does lead to laziness, selfishness, greed, irresponsibility. Hard to avoid unless you are a very disciplined or principled person. Abortion has provided another way to be irresponsible and then selfish.

That's what makes the left such a dark place. They don't run from those qualities; they embrace them. Self sacrifice is not in their playbook. This is just a small example of the mindset of the left. Wouldn't be surprised at all if a similar trend emerges for transgender surgeries.

And the public schools, who collect around $15,000 a year (my area) per student from taxpayers, will still collect that $15,000 a year from taxpayers while having fewer students to transport, provide books for, grade, on and on.

Protip to parents -- there's no benefit to 'threatening' to pull your kids from public schools. The public schools love it.

Posted by: eleven at February 07, 2017 04:54 PM (qUNWi)

Maybe because pineapples are usually used for wrapping in barbed wire, set ablaze, and rammed in the left's asses sideways.

389 Oh but the Bishop in her church has said she has been punished. She is not allowed to take communion.
Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at February 07, 2017 04:06 PM (mpXpK)

Um, Vic- that's what excommunication means.

Posted by: Sal at February 07, 2017 05:30 PM (hA4a+)

390 One other thing about slavery in the South before I close this thread. Huge plantations with hundreds of slaves AKA Gone With The Wind simply did not exist. I think there was one plantation that had a fairly high number, but not like that. The average "farm" did not have ANY slaves and the ones that did never had more than 2 or 3.

And the head of the farm and his kids worked in the fields right along besides the slaves. The Gone With The Wind Plantation with the "Masser" sitting on the front porch of a huge mansion sipping mint julips with Scarlet at his feet is a myth.

391 389 Um, Vic- that's what excommunication means.

Posted by: Sal at February 07, 2017 05:30 PM (hA4a+)

As I remember the article about it the Bishop said she would not be excommunicated but she could not take communion. I don't know a whole lot about the Catholic Church but that is what I remember when that issue was raised.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at February 07, 2017 05:32 PM (mpXpK)

392 In order to homeschool their kids, one of them would have to stay home and not work. I don't see that happening and if fewer people have kids in the public school system t might improve the quality of the education-fewer crowded classes.

And this is a threat?

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 07, 2017 05:37 PM (fDdVG)

393 Planned Non-parenthood can run a for-profit abortion clinic if they want but pretending they are offering neutral counseling services so they can get their scissors into vulnerable women's wombs is getting close to murder (while a fully considered choice to have an abortion is NOT murder in my opinion). That danger is also a reason to not let abortion businesses operate as so-called non-profits either, as that status points in a lot of naive prople's minds to disinterested motivations, making it easier to fool people.

Posted by: Alec Rawls at February 07, 2017 05:42 PM (AphMS)

394 I actually heard some scrunt on one of the cable shows say--through tears-- on election night, "Ladies, you better get your abortions now, while you still can...."
Posted by: JoeF. at February 07, 2017 03:52 PM (7uYFy)

I saw that. A shocked silence greeted her remark. Apparently this woman thinks abortion is a great opportunity not to be missed. You thought you wanted that baby? Nah! Don't miss out on the fun of killing it for convenience! Plus you get the bonus of thumbing your nose at Trump!

Posted by: JuJuBee at February 07, 2017 05:42 PM (dargh)

395 Would like to see PP get sued by some of the women who went to them for their advertised neutral counseling services and got railroaded into abortions they didn't really want. Abortion quotas would make those cases very difficult to defend against and any losses would likely be huge.

397 Just to clarify, a formal excommunication in the Catholic Church goes beyond simply forbidding someone to receive Communion. Any Catholic in a state of mortal sin is not supposed to receive Communion until they repent, confess to a priest and receive absolution. An excommunication, however, can normally be imposed -- and removed -- only by the pope or a bishop.

398 Vic @ 390- Slaves in the South.
Yankees owned some slaves. Slavery was not abolished in Ohio until after TWBTS. Most blacks in America, not just the south today are slaves to the democrats. People need to learn some stuff.

This is my shocked face.

A business built on abortion (and government funding thereof) has to perform a minimum number of abortions within any given timeframe to stay in business? Who'da thunk it?

400 Is this the same abortion party that's now all up in arms over DeVos' confirmation? What did Joss Whedon tweet after she was confirmed - "they declared war on our children."? The irony is strong with them. SMFH
