Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"The world is changing. America is changing. Europe is changing. It started last year with Brexit, yesterday there was Trump and today the freedom-loving parties gathered in Koblenz are making a stand. The genie will not go back into the bottle again, whether you like it or not. The people of the West are awakening. They are throwing off the yoke of political correctness."
Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV)

Quote II

Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.- Golda Meir

Quote III

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.- Audrey Hepburn

Tomorrow, January 24th, marks a Moron type of anniversary. The first cans of beer were delivered. Roadside ditches were never the same.

Another day, another Obama administration report that is not worth the paper it is written on.

Released on Friday, the report found the Chicago police guilty of a “pattern or practice” of unconstitutional force. But it turns out that the Justice Department has no standard for what constitutes a “pattern or practice” (the phrase comes from a 1994 federal statute) of unconstitutional police conduct. “Statistical evidence is not required” for a “pattern or practice” finding, the DOJ lawyers announce, citing unrelated court precedent. Nor is there “a specific number of incidents” required to constitute a “pattern or practice,” they proclaim.

Will a GOP president ever be able to weed out the leftist career bureaucrats? Time will tell with President Trump & AG Jeff Sessions.

If you are a student at a college, can you be arrested for non-violent free speech behavior? Well you can at Kellogg Community College. Handing out free copies of the Constitution is a No-No at this world famous institution of higher learning.

The group says that on Sept. 20, 2016, KCC students Michelle Gregoire, Brandon Withers and three others were in an open area in front of KCC’s Binda Performing Arts Center handing out pocket Constitutions and talking with students about YAL. The students allege in their federal lawsuit that campus administrators and security approached them and told them they were violating the school’s Solicitation Policy because they were passing out the Constitutions without prior approval. They were also informed they could not engage in such activity at that particular location.

The students are suing the Gestapo College administration. The ONT wishes them yuuge success with their lawsuit. Why be a Rhodes Scholar when you can be a Kellogg Scholar, "They're great!!"

Looks like The ONT is starting out in a Law & Order fashion. A DOJ that has preordained outcomes. A college frightened of free speech. What else is there? 15 strange laws from around the world.

Take for example Japan. Michael Moore would be in prison for being a fat ass person. In Japan, it is illegal to be fat. Wonder if the inmates do the GAINZZ?

Why is the left always so pissed? Why did the Weasels Wisconsin Democratic State Senators flee WI when Gov. Scott Walker was attempting to pass Act 10? Why did 50+ Shit Heads Democratic Congressmen skip the recent inauguration? Is it because of their collapse?

Bartley comprehended that the Democrats’ fury went beyond politics and “must have deeper, subconscious roots.” His theory was that they were unable to deal with a sense they were losing their “birthright.”

What he meant was that, as he put it, “base Democrats think of themselves as the best people: the most intelligent and informed, the most public spirited, the most morally pure.” If that’s what’s at stake, no wonder they’re so devastated.

Speaking of melt downs. This guy has been known to swing the pendulum from meltdowns to blubbering like a school boy about his first crush. Good old Chris Matthews.

Although never raised by a nanny. The ONT does believe that a Nanny would not be as offensive as the Obama administration. From pigs to Christmas lights 97,000+ pages of regulations. This does not include statutes passed by Congress.

The Obama administration set a record by issuing 97,110 pages of regulations for nearly 4,000 new federal rules, at an estimated cost of nearly $350 billion.

Rules such as the Obamacare employer mandate and the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations over power plants and rivers, streams, and ponds are well known, and reflect the expansion of the federal bureaucracy. But lesser known rules shed light on the size and scope of the government, as well. Here are the craziest federal regulatory moves in the Obama era:

The ONT Musical Interlude

On this day in 1971, George Harrison became the first solo Beatle to have a No.1 when ' 'My Sweet Lord' went to the top of the UK single charts.

A double shot of George Harrison. The following was released on the B side of The Beatles song "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" in 1968. Here it is performed with Eric Clapton.

*****

In December of every year there are countless stories about who has died. What we never see are stories about who will die. How many famous people will die in 2017?

In 2016 hundreds of famous people died. David Bowie, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Fidel Castro, Carrie Fisher, Gene Wilder, George Michael, Vera Rubin, and Thomas Schelling, are just a few names on this list. But was 2016 a particularly bad year? Or will 2017 be "worse"?

Many people think that 2016 was particularly bad, but data tells us that it is not an exception. In fact, we should expect more famous people to die in 2017 than in 2016. Why? The answer is simple: because the number of famous people has increased over time.

Fun toys that are no more. As always, it's for the children.

The Austin Magic Pistol

If any toy could be considered endlessly controversial, it the toy gun. Even those that don’t see the harm in a nerf gun or a squirt gun can’t argue that the Austin Magic Pistol may just take things that bit too far.

Are today's toys even any fun?

This is why certain people can not have nice things.Genius Award Runner-up. You have to take care of your teeth.

Drunk, crashed and covered in vomit is tonight's Genius Award.

The ONT is surprised that the Nanny State hasn't stopped this boy yet from being The Feel Good Story of The Day.

They met with radiation oncologist this morning, and anticipate starting treatment next week. Minimal hair loss and fatigue is maid side effect.

More: Radiation starts next week, apparently takes less than 1/2 hour per treatment, which runs 5 days/week for 6 weeks. And the chemo is a pill she takes at home. So, not horrible. In fact, was ok spend more time commuting than actually undergoing treatment.

That "pattern and practice" crap has been around for a while. They used it in the OJ criminal trial to get in evidence from his prior marriage (he hit his first wife once) to prove that he had a pattern and practice of violence against women. Never mind that the prosecution is not supposed to be able to use prior bad acts as evidence against a defendant in a current proceeding. The fact that he had hit a different woman was supposed to be evidence that he knifed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

Not looking to get into that whole case, but that is bullshit evidence.

Yeah, I've personally found that sometimes it's insane the price difference between "new," "like new" and "very good" quality CDs. Sometimes the new will be $30, the "like new" will be $25... and the "very good" will be 50 cents.

Ever since the election, I've made a point of honoring that wish, as well as the similar sentiment from Pepsi/Frito-Lay.

It's not exactly a boycott on my part; it's just me saying, "Oh, so you really don't want my money; well, I'll just respect your wishes, then."

I noticed that shortly after that my local Target suddenly started carrying Utz potato chips, a brand with no connection to Kellogg's/Pringle's or Pespi/Frito-Lay. I think they saw the writing on the wall, and didn't want their stores to suffer for the stupidity of those two dumbass CEOs.

158 So I have to share my experience today. I've been a substitute teacher in a district in Columbus, OH for the last couple years. This district (Upper Arlington) is considered "affluent" and "good schools"...desirable, there's definitely left-leaning, but not what you see and hear from other big city schools. The kind of place where most people keep their political opinions (mostly) to themselves.

I'm with a special needs kid and we go to "American History" class. I've been in the class a couple times before and it's been OK...watching videos about the Federalists/Anti-Federalists, Constitutional Convention, etc....So now they are doing a simulation/game-type scenario where they are each assigned some kind of role/political bent and are to play a game based on that, trying to earn points, etc. This is an 8th-grade class.

So the teacher starts with the display of the
"political spectrum" and the display on the screen shows the old "Left-Right" line. On the farthest Left is "Anarchism", just to the right of that is Communism, then Socialism, then I-don't-remember, then the "middle" then, on the right side is (don't recall), then Naziism, and on the farthest right is "Fascism". The dipshit teacher then tries to explain this garbage. I shit you not, I couldn't tell if the teacher had an agenda or was just an imbecile.

Keep in mind, I'm with a special needs kid so it's not my place to question or comment. But these kids were all "sponges" learning this shit, not jumping to conclusions but taking notes and thinking where they fall in all of this.

Then comes a part where they list different types of factions: Environmentalists, Capitalists, Humanitarians, Liberals, Conservatives, etc...and what types of "coalitions" could be made and who would "get along". I'll skip to the chase and say that it was generally agreed that "Humanitarians" and "Conservatives" wouldn't get along because conservatives don't want the poor and needy to get help beyond what they could do for themselves. Because no non-gov't entities ever provided "humanitarian" aid.

FUCK. THESE. PEOPLE.

We have to get the gov't out of education, or all of these temporary gains will mean jack shit.

I have mixed feelings about it. Seems that these days Cerritos is the "destination mall" while Lakewood is the "utility mall." I tell myself, at least retailers want to come to our city; I could name a bunch of other municipalities in SoCal that have had mostly vacant storefronts for decades.

251 Evening all. I'm back home in the Old Dominion after the recent emotionally draining time in Arizona. She passed with dignity and even a touch of humor at the last. I hope I do as well when it is my time.

I put 6000 miles on the car round trip, and went from Virginia to western Kansas to Arizona to Michigan and back to Virginia. There is no shortage of fog in this country.

Today, I got to see my son's performance on tape with his VMI Brother Rats at the inauguration. Fine young men and women they are. I hope you Morons saw them at the last of the parade as well.

After not seeing my wife for three weeks she sent me a photo of herself next to a giant statue of Bill Clinton. Fine sense of humor she has, that one.

I finally got to see Al a couple of years ago on the Mandatory Fun tour. It was money well spent, because it was a real show...costume changes, lights and effects, and Al's fantastic band. There were people there ranging in age from grade school to, well, my age, and there was nothing vulgar or inappropriate.

277 By the way, the whole thing behind "RUSSIAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!" is that it's a persuasion move by the progs to make the average person look at Trump, one of the most boldly brashly uncompromisingly AMERICAN people alive today, and see something else.

They needed a white country with a strong scary schema in people's minds. Germany was probably too on the nose (they did try it with that stupid Drumpf thing), and hasn't really been Germany for a while anyway.

It won't work but it's a good attempt. Might have worked on someone weaker. There is about to be an bold colorful American resurgence like few of us can imagine, and the progs are powerless to stop it.

The thing with Catholic schools is that their teachers and administrators are trained at a lot of the same universities as public school employees. However, because they depend on parental good will to get and keep enrollment, they are more likely to listen to you if you complain about something.

The Dems controlled almost everything from the 40's to 2002. There were times that the GOP would get a House or Senate majority, but never the House, Senate, President. The Dems also controlled the South's legislatures and most of the legislatures in the other regions. Down the ticket at the local levels, it was Democrat.

In 2002 when the GOP finally got control of the H, S and POTUS, they were like an abused wife, they had no idea what to do and just kind of went along with what the Dems wanted.

2008 changed that. They were told they weren't needed and to STFU. It seemed to piss most of them off, and the new classes coming in were ones not to take any shit. Last fall, the Dems thought they were going to be in power and started acting like shitweasels again. November 9th was a rude awakening for them. Not only did they not make great gains in the House, they only picked up a couple of Senate seats and didn't get the Presidency.

It was a rude awakening. Even ruder was that the GOP can now pick at least one Supreme Court justice, and in all probability, 2. And one of those is from one of the most reliably liberal of the bunch.

And that's my problem with the gender restroom issue. I'm more concerned about sex offenders, rapists, and child molesters taking advantage of the issue to follow little girls into restrooms. There absolutely have been incidents of men following girls into restrooms to victimize girls. Normally, anyone who sees them heading into a ladies room can tell them to get out. This exactly why the left has stepped it up. They are in itself a sleeper cell that's been indoctrinated and conditioned since birth to be used in a doomsday scenario situation by communists and globalists. The doomsday scenario is Trump. Geert wilders nailed it when he said Europe is waking up. That chaps the socialist/globalist/ Islamist's asses. They had Europe, it was done and on its way out. They almost had America, which would be the crown jewel of their enterprise, and mcfuckstick almost handed it to them on a silver platter.

Then a bunch of pissed off Americans launched the tea party, which didn't go unnoticed across the pond. Europe started to stir and started waking up. The left attacked harder and tried to discredit the tea party. The left started losing seats of power across the country. The left got even more unhinged. Then BAM, America elects trump, THEE biggest threat to the elites I ever saw. He will undo generations of leftist rot in a few short years. The elite will watch decades of their crap crumble. America and Europe slip through their fingers, game over, and the left goes off...the...fucking...rails.

Too conditioned, too spoiled, too fucking stupid to see the mindless drones they have become, and funded by every anti-American group on the planet, the doomsday switch is thrown and every last fucking leftist becomes a god damn retarded zombie. The media, the colleges, Hollywood, and every other leftist institution lose their fucking shit. Chicks with pussy masks?? Really? I don't have to list all the stupidity, we saw it all.

They are not gonna go quiet. This is their doomsday scenario. They will watch all their gains of the 20th century go up in smoke, and they are not going out without a fight. Here and across the pond. Its going to be interesting.

Market has taken some what of a hit here. Lots of restaurants have been closing up the last 6 months or so. The malls are now putting office space into retail space that they can't fill, and there hasn't been much new office construction in years.

Norfolk Southern pulled their offices out of here a couple of years ago, and their building is vacant, and the 800 families that moved really loaded the housing market at a time when prices were just starting to rise up again. Add on to that Advance Auto moving their HQ's to Raleigh, and the added job losses from that, and we kinda got kicked in the gems.

Virginia Tech did announce that they are expanding the medical school here, so that should help. We are also getting Deschutes and Ballast Point breweries building their east coast breweries/distribution centers here, but those cannot replace those NS/AA white collar jobs.

BTW, the state announced that tax receipts were not what they expected, and so did the City of Roanoke. So the economy is quite soft.

But most of the small business people I run into are now quite optimistic about the future. Much more optimistic than they were on November 7th.

395 And that's my problem with the gender restroom issue. I'm more concerned about sex offenders, rapists, and child molesters taking advantage of the issue to follow little girls into restrooms. There absolutely have been incidents of men following girls into restrooms to victimize girls. Normally, anyone who sees them heading into a ladies room can tell them to get out. The way liberals want it, you won't be able to tell a man to get out.
---

Yeah, I had that argument with a gay liberal I know.

This is how it went: "Transgenders are the most confused, helpless pathetic creature ever! There has never been a case in history EVER where a transgender has molested a child. The molesters are angry dangerous white men. And if they want to molest a child, they'll do it if there is a mixed sex bathroom or not. But if you don't have mixed sex bathrooms, you're harming really fragile transgenders and could cause them to commit suicide. That's how helpless and fragile they are."

/strangely enough, about six months later, this person had a full on Histrionic meltdown with me, and we no longer talk. My life is much less complex now.

396 According to Wikipedia, WAY actually recorded a cassette of parody tunes
as far back in 1976, which he gave to Dr. Demento during a visit to his
high school... and Demento even played at least one of the songs,
because he was impressed with WAY's talent. But no info whether there
were any other copies of that cassette; wonder if even WAY himself has a
copy anymore.

Just one little thing.

It was a piece of shit. Would not cycle one magazine without a failure of some sort. Changed mags, nope.
Changed ammo, nope.
Sent it to be fiddle fucked with by experts, and they sent it back worse.

The dark orange-black lettering on "Carling Black Label's" 16 oz beer cans looked almost exactly like a can of tennis balls (can't remember the brand).

Once, while a bunch of us were driving around at night, a police car driven by a notorious kid-hater started tailing us, very closely.

Someone in the back seat grabbed a tennis ball can and pretended to drink from it--lifting it high-- then passed it around to his seatmates, who did the same.

Cruiser lights flashed, and we we're pulled over. Office Eli Perry (for that was his name, the miserable SOB) triumphantly poked his flashlight in the car, thinking he's got us.

Then someone handed him the can.

Hilarity ensued.

Glory days.

I was trying to remember which mall you were talking about because there is one right in front of North Cross, and one where the Dunkin Donuts is.

The Dunkin Donuts one has been shitty since day one. Originally, a grocery store affiliated with Giant was supposed to go in. That fell through. Each couple of years there is a rumor that a grocery store will go in there. If that happens, that mall will take off.

The one in front of North Cross had started really picking up in the last couple of years because it is one of the best locations in Roanoke. Right in SW County, but close enough to South Roanoke. However, this past weekend, the anchor tenant Annies Pub closed up shop. It should weather that storm because their may be another restaurant opening in that space later this year.

I have to send it to Walther to fix that decocker issue: when you rotate the decocker to lower the hammer to safe the pistol, some had a nasty habit of not blocking the firing pin. Get a no shit accidental discharge. Found out about that purely by chance.

so it was a win win. you got a good deal and found out it accidentally discharges without anyone getting injured.

yeah sounded like a deal to me. I paid $350 for mine in the mid 80's. It was used but wasn't fired much at all and was mint. Mine wasn't the most reliable thing shooting wise though, it had some jams here and there with different loads, so that took it right out of being anything other than a range/target gun. It was for the wife (girlfriend at the time), but she liked my CZ75, sooo the PPK hasn't been fired in 30 years. I'll have to remedy that one day. I can't even remember what loads were reliable.

One of the most over rated LP's of all time. There's not really much on it. Couple of good tracks and a bunch of sound fx. Magical Mystery Tour LP shits all over it as a psychedelic tour de force (yeah, even though it's a bit of a compilation)... Unlike SPLHCB, MMT is jam packed with great tunes.

Posted by: Soothsayer 45 at January 24, 2017 12:24 AM (tJm+l)

481 otho: exactly. I would have been shocked too. There's a reason you NEVER hear Beatles songs in *any* movie, unless of course it's produced by the Beatles themselves, such as "Across The Universe" from a few years ago.

I know that for productions as big as "The Social Network," the royalty payments must be beyond yuge. Of course they chose a less popular, lesser-known Beatles song, so that might have helped a little bit with the price.

Posted by: qdpsteve at January 24, 2017 12:16 AM

That actually did pass thru my mind, also. It isn't a high profile track and even a bit obscure, so maybe it came with a discount? But, it's not like Fincher had to take crumbs from the Beatles table. He obviously wanted THAT track due to the lyrics. Dunno.

483 #456: Linda played a pretty big part in this song...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnHu-WLvY5U

This song prompted John Lennon to create the song How Do You Sleep?, in which he railed against McCartney as a soulless sellout for his "silly love songs", and he got that big stinkin' hypocrite George Harrison (who had himself created a good number of "silly love songs") to assist him...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNjTPZW7GCU

Paul responded in no uncertain terms with his next big hit, Silly Love Songs. Yet another #1 hit for him and Wings!

The white whale in Roanoke is either Whole Foods or Trader Joes. Earth Fare just announced that they are building a store in South Roanoke which is kind of overkill since it will be about a mile from Fresh Market.

The other hope of the Keagy Village mall was that when Ukrops was here that they would add a store out there after the Giant food deal fell through. Ukrops' owners decided to sell the chain after their kids didn't want to take over running the business. They closed their store here and sold the rest of the chain to Martins effectively killing that.

Roanoke's problem seems to be that we are a little too far south for the NE regional grocery stores, too far west for the coastal chains, and too far north for the SE regional chains.

MMT has "I Am The Walrus", "Baby you're A Rich Man", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Penny Lane" another couple of singles and even the tracks that make up the numbers are cool and interesting, if not truly great, like "Flying" and "Blue Jay Way".

SPLHCB on the other hand has "With A little Help From My Friends" and "A Day In the LIfe"... that's about it. The rest is stuff that they would have thrown in the bin on any other LP. "Lucy In The Sky" is ok... but... it's really not that great. It's just an acceptable filler track that is really well produced.

It's hard to argue with "Abbey Road", though for me it's TWA. I will say that "Let It Be" is their most criminally under rated LP, though and the most overlooked, the now almost forgotten "Hey Jude" LP. Like MMT, it's a compilation, but it's packed with great stuff that never made it onto american LP's and goes from stright up early rock n roll to the weird and wonderful later years stuff. Singles, B sides and dropped LP tracks.

Before they were "The Beatles", they were "The Silver Beetles". It so happens that in Britain there's an insect known as the great silver water beetle.

LOL, my high school band was called Electric Funeral, so you can guess who we played a lot of!

Came in handy when due to lineup changes I had to switch from guitar to bass for a while, which I barely knew how to play at the time. The Sabs played pretty slow and doooomy a lot, so that helped. We had to drop things like Rush songs till we got a real bass player again, cause I couldn't play that stuff.

I have a huge..HUGE early RUSH background. I still play a lot of that stuff up to the moving pictures album, but no later. Its my only real departure from metal. I listened to early KISS for a few years but man, once I heard RUSH it was all over. Lifeson just had a huge command over the guitar, and to this day I have guitars and amps geared up for that alone. With all the biggies I mingled with over the years I never met him, but I would tell him point blank that he almost single handedly made me the player I became. I learned the entire 2112 album when I was 15-16, and the lessons I learned from that old stuff still occasionally saves my ass. I would never even have a classical background if it wasn't for the intro to "farewell to kings" or "The trees". I owe that mofo a lot.

612 And I've been buycotting McDonalds for well over a year, ever since the CEO declared they were now 'a Progressive burger company'.

Yeah dude? Well, you can surely do without my deplorable cash then.

Sad.

614 Oh, and by the way...

The whole "Keeper of Cerberus" thing is simply in response to the 'Ette's recent activity.

I've seen a plethora of Historical, Mythical Beings with added sidearms being loosed, recently.

I'm simply defending myself, so as to assure Mutually Assured Destruction.

Criticizing Trump's statements about women is legit commentary, if a bit dumb business-wise. Yeah, I'm not going to buycott based on that.

He must be hearing Geert's rapidly approaching electoral thrashing; the flop sweat is showing.

My question is this: does this work? Merkel has been making similar noises completely contrary to what she has been saying the past several years and more importantly, what she has done.

Do people really buy it, or is it just a fig leaf to vote the way they have in the past, against what they know would be better, if uncertain?

That is my thought to, but then why try this now? Wouldn't this just piss off their hardcore constituents because it goes against what they want?

I guess it is a cleft stick. Hillary faced a similar problem and tried the opposite tactic- she moved further to the left to try to energize her core support. Of course, Hillary also had the handicap of being horrifically charismatic (she actually has negative charisma.)

Well, the polls on both Merkel and Geert's opponent ain't looking so good, so that's WHY they are doing it, but only the election will tell if it's working.

Posted by: Skip at January 24, 2017 03:52 AM (0AwCy)

Well, i know why I don't. It's because they tried to move themselves upmarket with those ridiculous "McCafes".

And instead of their traditional menus, they have video screens, which makes it hard to compare deals and value for money. "Are two regular cheeseburgers and a medium fries a better deal than a Quarter Pounder with cheese and a small fries? Well, the first is $4.89, and the second....Oh shit! The screen toggled."

And the prices are knockin' on Five Guys door, and for my money, Five Guys has waaay better burgers and fries, and waaay less BS. And Carl's Jr. and In and Out also have McD's beat.

I will still go to the remaining traditional-style McD's, if I find one when I'm hungry, but I actively avoid the McCafes.

Instead of just wandering the store for a bit, I asked the clerk where I could find them.

"Excuse me, do you have toy cowboy guns?"

"No, we don't have guns here, it's store policy."

"Really, like any guns?"

"Well, you can get Nerf guns that shoot foam missiles, or something like that."

"Let me get this straight. I can't get a plastic toy gun that can't do any harm, but I could get a Nerf gun that can shoot projectiles?"

"Yeah, thanks - I'll go to Party City instead."

I did, and they were able to help.

Not much today. It's cold, rainy, sleety and very depressing here (as if I needed more of that).

This is Bessie McCoy:

She was a "Ziegfeld Girl," though not in the sense of one of his showgirls. She was a performer whose signature song was "The Yama Yama Man," a song about a boogyman hiding under the bed (this is a 1909 recording by singer Ada Jones):

McCoy, naturally, got the nickname "The Yama Yama Girl," and was always dressed in this Pierrot costume whenever she performed the song.

666 The Magic Pistol took me back to a Christmas long ago. My cousin had much of the family come for brunch. His son (5 or 6) had gotten one, but hadn't figured out how to use it. As his parents were busy hosting, my father took it upon himself to show how it worked. Whereupon the boy yelled out "Oh Boy! Now I can shoot my balls off!"

To the delight of one and all. I suppose today that would be wrong somehow.

667 I was looking at those toys:

A ping-pong ball gun? That's harmless... Oh, Calcium Carbide. For a ping-pong ball gun? WTF??

When I was a kid, I got a "Deluxe" chemistry set. It included hollow glass rods that you had to heat over the alcohol lamp and bend/stretch to make droppers, pipettes, and other glassware. It also had, among other chemicals, Hydrochloric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, and Potassium Permanganate. It's a wonder I'm still alive.

I learned a lot from that chemistry set, though. Did you know that if you spill boiling HCl on your arm, the burn marks last several months? Also, if you start too many fires in your bedroom, you have to do chemistry outside. For the record, three is too many. On the other hand, you can do all KINDS of things outside if you don't get caught. Some of them involve calcium carbide.
