A New Dawn in America

John Ekdahl is counting down till noon with some observations:

You likely have milk in your refrigerator that has an expiration date longer than the Obama presidency.

The American Dental Association recommends changing your toothbrush every 3 months, or 180 times as long as Obama's remaining presidency.

RIP "poised for". Was a fun 8 years, but all things come to an end.

Any Amazon Prime order you make tonight will arrive when Obama isn't president.

A standard 12" dining table candle has an 11 hour burn time. Or, in more easily understood terms, less time than Obama's remaining term.

Rachel Maddow will never host another show on MSNBC while Obama is president.

There will never be another organic weekend farmers market under an Obama presidency.

A fun exercise: Think about what you want for lunch. Obama won't be president.

Do I stick to my diet and order a salad or cheat and get a burger? Silver lining: Obama will not be president.

The Warden/Code Red annouced his own plans to celebrate the New Freedom:

I'm going to f*** a hooker.

Tomorrow at noon, the air will smell a little sweeter, wine will taste a little stronger, and German pornography will feature slightly more urine.

What are your plans for marking the day? What are you the most grateful for, this most glorious day, this day when this loathsome c*nt (partly) departs our lives?

I feel like we're all heroes for just surviving this monster.

Helicopter retreating shot, cue George Harrison.

11 Angry rioters are going to shut down the downtown of my city tomorrow, which voted 77% for Hillary Clinton.

Too bad I live in a suburb - I'm going to get a nice bottle of wine, and watch livestreams of Liberal Democrats trapped for hours in their cars and on mass transit by anarchists and other protestors who will be blocking mass transit lines and freeways.

During the last round of riots here after the election, almost everyone arrested was released without charge - it is now dawning on the powers that be that the rioters now think they can riot without consequence, for some reason.

Couldn't imagine a nicer kickoff to the Trump Administration than a sustained temper tantrum that will almost inconvenience people who almost entirely voted for Hillary.

61 Local newspaper in Berkeley publishes long list of idiotic "protest activities" readers can engage in to resist Trump and "take back the red states in 2018."

http://www.berkeleyside.com/2017/01/19/berkeley-prepares-resist-trump-agenda-protest-inauguration/

I was inspired to make the following comment -- and then a leftist felt that she needed to reply to me, to which I then replied back. Behold:

-----

[my original comment]

You want to know how NOT to recapture red states in 2018?

Here's the tried-and-true recipe for progressive failure:

-- Knit "pussy hats."
-- Make signs that contain the word "Uterus."
-- Do pretentious rituals imitating South American banana republics.
-- Do anything inside a theater that only puts on leftist plays.
-- Rehash 1968 for the ten zillionth time.

Can't you realize that Berkeley and all its antics and all it stands for have become national laughingstocks? That Berkeley-spearheaded communist agitprop is the very reason why Trump won in the first place? That America is sick of being lectured by know-nothing hippies and abrasive Social Justice Warriors and washed-up radicals? That "Trumpism" is the backlash against the Berkeleyization of the culture?

So be my guest: Beclown yourselves with your foolish and futile virtue-signalling games. Not only does none of it work, it BACKFIRES spectacularly, as evidenced by the 2016 election. Dance in your pussy hats, dance! The rest of the country needs something to laugh at as we get down to the business of undoing Obama's eight years of social corrosion.

---

[leftist replies]

Thank you for reminding me to put "uterus" in my sign, just to piss you Trumpies off. Good luck with your coal mining jobs and finding insurance. I can't wait to see how trump "undoes" "social corrosion." If anyone knows social corrosion first hand, it's him.

---

[I reply back]

Please, yes, make a gigantic "UTERUS" sign. It doesn't piss me off. It fills me with glee. You haven't yet realized that your "UTERUS" sign may earn you accolades and brownie points in your little clique of like-minded leftists, but it will only elicit derision and mockery from the very red state voters you apparently think you're trying to convince. And the same is true of all the other juvenile virtue-signaling "protest" antics described in this article, all of which have devolved to become nothing more than amateur skits performed BY leftists exclusively for an audience OF leftists. What's pathetic is that you all pretend that your antics are intended to convince non-leftists to change their opinions. I have some news for you: In a best-case scenario, Middle America will never learn of your embarrassing protests, and no harm will be done, and you can all clap each other on the back for being more anti-Trump-than-thou. But in a worst-case scenario, Middle America actually hears about the pussy hats and the uterus signs and all the rest of it, and their revulsion will only induce them to swing MORE away from leftism.

Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "A liberal wants conservatives to shut up; a conservative wants liberals to keep talking."? That's because you are your own worst enemy. And furthermore, you believe your own lies, apparently. Now I've got to get back down into the coal mines, to keep the power plants going so you have enough electricity to insult us coal miners.

64 Best of all, Obama's gone tomorrow, and Nancy Pelosi stays as leader of the House Democrats.

You'd think that given that Nancy is the essence of electoral fail, that they would find a suitable replacement - like that Democrat in Youngstown who won easily in a district that voted heavily for Trump.

Ah, but they keep Nancy because she's buds with the California billionaires who now fund the Democratic Party.

Hint: the Democratic Party will keep losing until they care more about what white working-class voters think then what Tom Steyer thinks.

93 Now I've got to get back down into the coal mines, to keep the power plants going so you have enough electricity to insult us coal miners.

See, thing is once upon a time oh, three decades back this state had power plants, nuke power, bought lots from BC Hydro...

These days the nukes are being shut down, big in-state natural gas fired generators are aging, BC needs its own power, so we're probably buying more out of state coal-fired power than ever before in my life.

But he was all nostalgic about the "first three minutes" of the JEF's inauguration, and the gist of his commentary was that America elected a black guy, gee whiz, and that's all that mattered. Yep, the only significant thing to say about Obama after these long 8 years is that he was black.

120 The best thing about tomorrow is what is not going to happen.

That is what I was really fearing - Hillary striding to the platform and taking office, while simultaneously issuing a the first batch of what would have been hundreds of executive orders - criminalizing criticism of global warming dogma, stripping the tax exemption from any church that doesn't endorse abortion and gay marriage, creating a government commission to censor "fake news", and on and on and on.

Hillary would just issue diktats and dare Congress to impeach and convict her, which wouldn't happen.

I know that Zombie thinks that this was an enormously consequential election, but we should still remember that we were saved from President Hillary by fewer than 200,000 voters in three states.

It was a very close-run thing.

141 Instapundit had a story today on Why Hillary Lost - Reason #237 - the origin of the MAGA slogan.

Hillary's campaign hired marketing people who devised dozens of possible campaign slogans, which were all throughly focus-group tested. A committee decided on the winning slogan: "Stronger Together".

Very bureaucratic.

Trump decided he needed a campaign slogan, came up with the basic idea, kicked around a few variants by himself, decided on "Make America Great Again", and sent it off to the lawyers to be copyrighted.

Who is the natural politician, and who is the poser?

The Clinton Crime Family Foundation is done because there is no more influence to peddle. 163 @158 Relatively speaking, no. Pretty shitty year for me. Here's to a 2017 that will bring nothing but joy, peace, and bacon. And wine. And porno. And GAAAINZZZ!

164 I was 12 years old in 1981 when Reagan was inaugurated. Obviously I didn't understand the full implications of his victory, all I knew was that my father was elated and the dark days of despair that the Carter years represented to my young self were gone. Now, far be it from me to compare Trump to Ronaldus Magnus, but I'm getting that same vague feeling of optimism, Morning in America II if you will. I hope and pray that it is justified.

165 Oh, and cheap vodka, cigar and fireworks for the swearing in. I would like a replica Civil War ten inch mortar but the neighbors would be all cranky.
It would be so much fun to lob exploding shells over Cottage Lake.

168 I can honestly say I was pissed off by and disgusted with Obama every fucking day of the last eight years minus a few weeks of vacation here and there when I removed myself from all news.

It's been exhausting and probably has done some lasting damage to many of us in the same boat. Both psychologically and physically.

I'm sure there will be times I get disappointed with Trump and I fully expect the left to outdo themselves in vileness but my hope is things will just feel different. I want to breathe again. I really think the last eight years have done genuine damage on a personal level to many of the super-aware folk aside from the obvious national and civilizational harm we've endured.

169 Oh yeah, Glen Morangie is a great scotch also.

I was disappointed in Red Eye tonight, I really expected Andy Levy to come up with some reason to show Melania again in that Gold Dress. Yowza!

170 Wow. CNN ran a segment about "If Trump is killed before being inaugurated, an Obama nominee would succeed to the Presidency." That's so amazingly classy, CNN.

If we want to be charitable, maybe the "Designated Survivor" angle excuses this, but I'm not feeling charitable toward CNN.

171 And thank god Ace, you were there, to make those eight years just a little more bearable.

175 The Secret Service thing reminds me of the capture video of the cop killer here in Orlando. Helicopter was filming and as the cuff him it appears he is falling on someones boot with his face, the camera pans away super fast. Only film of the capture.

176 It's almost dawn. I'm 7 years old again and there's presents waiting for me under the tree. That's how I feel.

177 I do feel like it is Christmas morning. Thanks to Trump for giving many of us the shot of pride to look to the future with real hope knowing we probably are witnessing the end of sixties liberal dreams.
