Why sully your reputation for these people?

It would be the equivalent of a Republican President say pardoning the people in the Bundy Ranch standoff. Why go out with that final note?

Whatever freak contingent that wanted Manning pardoned is overwhelmed 1000-1 by rank and file vets that will never trust Democrats when it comes to the military.

74 Obama won't go away, because he loves to talk, and he loves adulation. And man oh man is the Washington press corps going to love reporting on every fucking thing he does in his neighborhood. I'm sure they'll call it "historic." As in "Obama's historic first post-presidency dinner in Georgetown." As someone who works in this fucking shithole of a town, I'm already bracing for it.

But what you have to remember about Obama is that he's one lazy fuck. He doesn't actually like to *do* anything. He just likes to say things. So the chance of him being an actual opposition leader is minimal.

In other news Biden is at Davos warning that Russia is planning to interfere in coming European elections. Which means he must be expecting further gains by right-wing, Nazi hate groups (i.e. anybody right of the Dems) andthey need to get the narrative started. He also assured the0.001% group in attendance they are wonderful guys despite being rich (not what he says to the Dem base, BTW) but it would be nice if hey could pay a little more taxes which will be needed by the govt. to keep the proles at bay.

Yes, it really does.

Maybe not in the way you meant it though. The man is insane, and by expert accounts not a danger to anyone at this point (and probably being monitored quite well).

Unlike third-world cesspit countries, we didn't string him up, or hand him to an angry mob. We tried him in court, determined he was too nuts for his own good, and gave him good care for 30 something years.

I've never liked threaded comments. If you want to borrow points from multiple threads, you have to start a new thread. Then people keep using the original threads as though you hadn't said what you said. So you have to start repeating yourself in each one... it would be like someone getting willowed every 10 minutes.

A prediction:

The Left will get hysterical, lose even more seats in Congress in 2018 (because IIRC they have many more to defend, even if the ruling party typically loses seats in an off year election), AND Trump gets re-elected in 2020.

In 2022, however, there may be GOP fatigue and the Demunists may pick up a few Congress seats, perhaps by actually appealing to working class people again.

In 2024, the GOP Establishment will create Bush 3.0, George P. Bush, to challenge Mike Pence for the nomination.

So in 2024 it may all start to come apart.

Unlike third-world cesspit countries, we didn't string him up, or hand him to an angry mob. We tried him in court, determined he was too nuts for his own good, and gave him good care for 30 something years.

I'm sure most people know, a legal verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity is NOT saying he "has mental health issues."

I would argue the ration of people who don't belong in prison, because they're too nuts to really know what they did or why, to people who "got off" by using an insanity plea is probably at least 10,000 to 1.

It was less about the victim and more about the idea that even the most high profile case with camera shots and all sorts of witnesses, a complete open and shut case, some bleeding heart panel or judge had the balls to let this guy go after trying to kill a President.

If this person gets let go, any two bit murderer with a lower profile has a MUCH greater chance of being released early.

And I don't think anyone that shoots a President is ever "safe" to let back into society.

What is the harm in letting this guy simply die in prison?

It's the same with the Lockerbie terrorist that got let go because he was dying? How about he die in prison? that's the point of life in prison.

-Obama will immediately become "historic" and "iconic" as surely as having knighthood conferred makes you addressed as "Sir" from then on.

-All references to Obama will be reverential in tone.

-Every. Single. Thing. (repeat this a few times) that is proposed by the Republicans, and particularly, Trump, will be the subject of a huge hissy fit and cat fight from the media and the Democrat party.

-Dissent and protest are once again the highest form of patriotism. If you doubt this play Hilary's screeching tirade about how "We have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!!!"

And by the way, when did Trump acquire this purported "troubled record and history" with blacks? That seems like a new leftist meme out of nowhere. I think Trump would hire a chimpanzee if he thought it could make money for him and help his brand.

340 Also, it gives a strong reason to use capital punishment on traitors since the left will just let them out anyway...
Posted by: 18-1 at January 18, 2017 12:15 PM (X7E8f)

Yep, we should just state that since they will let them out at some point, we have no choice but to use the death penalty.

341 178 How long until the Churchill bust is back in the oval office. I say Trump should show up carrying it and sit it right in front of King Putt's ugly mug.

Show up to inauguration carrying it, hand it to Barky and ask him to hold it for a minute.

Who do you think blacks would be? Obama or Trump?

What is this "March for Life" thingie?

346 If Trump officially becomes President after taking the oath why are the taxpayers paying for the Obama family trip to Palm Beach? Is he leaving before the inauguration?

According to the last census, there are 8.8 million black people in the
US. Which means there were 8,799,999 black people better qualified to
run this country than Obama. Including the dead crack whore in my trunk.

Not sure the math adds up here..... 12% of 320 million people is 38.4 million....

348 Shit, he may be no longer residing at 1600 Penn. Ave. but he will by no means be gone, I bet the frickin' media gives him even more exposure once he's out of office that he had when he was in, he's bound and determined to be the turd in the punchbowl for years to come. Hell, I bet the Obama Global Initiative will be formed and debuted before the end of the month.

"Hell, I bet the Obama Global Initiative will be formed and debuted before the end of the month."

There is already a "Barack Obama Foundation" which is expected to have over 1 billion in assets to use to continue the destruction of America.

Obama's way ahead of you - he already has "Organizing for America" and his "My Brother's Keeper Alliance."

353 The only bright side I find with this ant-American, anti-Christian, racist, lazy, ego centered, post turtle of a president being elected is his destruction of the 'rat party and role in getting Trump elected (with the latter's destruction of the MSM and GOPe's grip on power). The downsides are innumerable.

354 I figure any time I pine for the halcyon days of the Obama maladministration, I can just look into the mirror with my head at full Mussolini tilt and shake my finger at myself, all the while regurgitated leftist pap I had overheard whilst in college.

This might be heresy, but as wretched as Obama has been, McStain's actions make me wonder if he wasn't the bullet we dodged in '08. Obama paved the way for Trump - McStain might have effectively paved the way for leftist rule for the next 25 years if he had gotten in.

Posted by: Curmudgeon at January 18, 2017 12:19 PM (ujg0T)

Peltier is a murderer, but he has been in prison for a long, long, time, so a commutation in his case would be less of a complete injustice. Not in favor of it, but he is ancient history.

361 The World's Fair was in Spokane in 1974 and they had a center-seat driver car, a Messerschmitt. After the war, Messerschmitt switched from aircraft to cars but maintained the basic aircraft fuselage shape. It as a two seater, passenger behind the driver. It was similar to this.
