1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, January 14, 2017. On this day in 1952 NBC's long-running morning news program Today was first shown with host Dave Garroway. People actually watched it then.

2 There is a lot of speculation about why the head of the DC National Guard has been ordered to step down on Jan 20. We will probably find out months down the road.

3 The DNC is still trying to lay off the Democrat disaster on Comey. They still refuse to recognize that their Party and Scankles had dug themselves into a hole since Obama was elected.

LOL, reminds me of the time we had a contractor working for us who had to take time off (unpaid of course) to go to the doctor. After sitting in the waiting room for two hours before seeing the doctor he wrote up a bill on his buisness stationary for $200 and sent it to the doctor. They were not amused.

Posted by: Vic

Most of the doctors have a "if you don't cancel 24 hours in advance we'll bill you anyway clause"
I usually show up 15 minutes early just in case the docs can see me sooner. One time as I arrived, the desk told me the doc was running a half hour late because of some emergency.
I get that, but how come you can't give me a quick call and give me a heads up?

22 Speaking of docs. I'm slowly working my way to having one of my ankles fused. After years of abuse, 2 operations, and a bajillion advil, it is now screwing up the opposite knee. I'm dreading it, by the ortho guy is confident that it will improve my walking.
I just don't want to go thru the 12 week recovery.

Posted by: Bruce at January 14, 2017 06:19 AM (8ikIW)

23 I always assume the doctor will be running "a half-hour" late. And they measure time the opposite of lawyers. an hour late = 3 hours late.

I once had an appointment over in "the city" for 3 pm. I got to see the doctor at nearly 6 pm. I found out later that he scheduled 4 patients per 15 min interval.

30 Hey, J.J., important question maybe you can answer: do the capers go on the cream cheese or the lox on these bagels? It's a matter of dispute in this house (the onion is optional, by mutual agreement).

I vote for embedding capers in cream cheese to keep them from falling off, but the artiste next to me thinks otherwise...

Can you settle the issue?

http://bit.ly/2jaGfVQ

I read the article. It's not that dead people got food stamps, which is what I was hoping it would say. It's that stores redeeming food stamps (or EBT cards) were supposedly owned by dead people. In most cases it was that the owner had died, and his or her heirs were running the family store, but the paperwork had not been updated. Those stores accounted for $2.6 billion sales. So it was $2.6 billion in food stamp sales run through stores owned by dead people, not $2.6 billion in food stamps being cashed in by dead people.

We had a place in town that would make fresh bagels everyday. They were wonderful. Then the owner of the store they were in decided after 10 years to jack up the rent. Bagel place said screw it, closed up, store now sits empty.

The bagels in a bag in the store taste like round Wonder Bread.

The docs quit telling you to use the drinkable version of the Fleets which I think was called Fleets-prep. Mainly because of the kidney damage by people that didn't know they had kidney problems, but also because people wouldn't follow the directions and drink all the water the directions called for. 162 Russia strikes me as pretty low on the current threat list. McVain, Grahamnesty and Rubio disagree, apparently on the basis of events in Syria. I hate to say it, especially since Russia has long been our enemy and also because McVain's buddy Hilldogger is the author of the Syrian mess, but the Russian view of Syria might be more in our national interest than the Hillz approach.

Starting another cold war seems to me to be at best an over-reaction and at worst a terrible miscalculation.

There is photographic evidence of him meeting with Baghdadi and a bunch of other high level ISIS murderers. He justifies this horseshit with unbelievable "I didn't know who it was I was meeting with."

He helped Obama create ISIS. He want to go to war over everything. He, Graham, Flake, Corker, Rubio and the rest of that establishment cabal need to be flushed on the first pull.

There is some cognitive dissonance going on here. If Obama was really their Reagan, as they believe, then they should have had their Bush-Dukakis smack down at the end for his handpicked successor. Reagan literally could have pointed to a ham sandwich and said "This sandwich is a fine sandwich, and of all the current candidates, will best carry on my legacy of limited government."

The sandwich would have won 40 states- including California.

There is a difference between real, feel it in your bones popularity and polls. Reagan made people change how they thought of themselves and their country in a good way- and never took credit for it himself. "You did this" he said in speech after speech. He believed in the fundamental decency of the American people.

Obama is continuously telling people who they are and what they feel, but it is always in a cajoling way. "This is not who we are." "This group of people feels this." Anything good was quickly co opted as one of his shining achievements, with no pointing out the brave men and women who might have done the heavy lifting. Not that there was that much to brag about.

He is a failure as a leader and an inspiration. Real leaders inspire people to feel something positive in themselves. Obama's only claim to fame here is that if you voted for him, you did not feel racist. Belief in a negative is not enough.

Some years ago, I heard someone (Jeane Kirkpatrick?) describe the Russian-Soviet foreign policy as that of the hotel thief. They would try every door knob to see which one was unlocked.

They are looking for any advantage everywhere, to gain something for themselves. Not for us (the US), not against us, but looking for opportunities for themselves.
I think it is sometimes a mistake to always look for some high-minded reason why nations pursue their own self-interest. There is a lot of silly rationalization that is for public consumption, but we pursue self - interest because we do.

McCain is one daft old crazy coot. Congratulations, Arizona, for electing him to another six-year term.
