There is some cognitive dissonance going on here. If Obama was really their Reagan, as they believe, then they should have had their Bush-Dukakis smack down at the end for his handpicked successor. Reagan literally could have pointed to a ham sandwich and said "This sandwich is a fine sandwich, and of all the current candidates, will best carry on my legacy of limited government."
The sandwich would have won 40 states- including California.
There is a difference between real, feel it in your bones popularity and polls. Reagan made people change how they thought of themselves and their country in a good way- and never took credit for it himself. "You did this" he said in speech after speech. He believed in the fundamental decency of the American people.
Obama is continuously telling people who they are and what they feel, but it is always in a cajoling way. "This is not who we are." "This group of people feels this." Anything good was quickly co opted as one of his shining achievements, with no pointing out the brave men and women who might have done the heavy lifting. Not that there was that much to brag about.
He is a failure as a leader and an inspiration. Real leaders inspire people to feel something positive in themselves. Obama's only claim to fame here is that if you voted for him, you did not feel racist. Belief in a negative is not enough.

We ended up hiring a criminal lawyer, which intimidated the bank enough to stop their own intimidation. Relatively inexpensive, and kept things civil so that she could move (which she wanted to do in the first place) and remake her life. Same here. Mr. Black's mom passed away 2 months ago. She had a large estate, over $1mil. Mr. Black and his sister are very close and have split everything with no issues. His sis was even left mom's brand new car, but he didn't care to even get "his half" of that. It's all been very smooth.

Brother's wife's family is going through the same sort of crap. The executor is playing fast and loose with the aunt's property because the will was poorly written and the executor, not a family member, is not living up to his fiduciary responsibilities. The heirs have been told it is very difficult to break a "valid" will in Virgina, but they have decided to legally pursue the executor for malfeasance even if they lose money in the legal fees required to do so.
IANAL, but it behooves members of the Horde to think about the succession of their property and tangible goods and get it written down.

Rev gets called on at times by the local funeral home to do funerals for people who have no pastor of their own. Anyway, the funeral director and Rev were talking this week. Apparently the guy has just bought a crematory as well. A lot of people are choosing cremation over burial. So Rev was telling me all about the crematory this morning. It made for interesting breakfast conversation.

No, from Indiana. I was going to put ",but..." as though trailing off. However, I try to not overuse the ellipsis. As with saying the same word over and over again (like 'like'), it speaks to getting into rutts in your thinking. I once got into a rutt of saying 'basically' all the time until friends pointed it out.

Perhaps that can be used as a lever. Give your brother a choice to fight in court and lose what was paid or give you say 70% since you were there taking care of your father and he can walk away with a clear 30%.

Though my folks left a will, there was still plenty to fight over.
The lovely and intelligent Mrs naturalfake suggested we simply not engage in that nonsense to keep good relationships with my sibs.
And, of course, she was right.
It's a different matter if you need the money however.
If so, have a lawyer draw up a letter to your brother outlining your demands and stopping the sale.
Then it will simply depend on how long the nonsense goes on as to whether you both get some significant money or give it all to the lawyers and the state.

And the tears of joy and happiness flowed immediately upon receiving news of her recovery.

Now, was her body exactly the right size to be reduced to that amount of ash, or, not quite enough and had to 'borrow' a bit from someone else, or, just a little too much and some had to be taken out of the box to level it out?

There are two offers on the table for a third of the appraised value. The house needs some work, granted, and the investors want a profit, granted, but it sounds like I'm not even getting all of that offer after all is said and done and the amount wouldn't even keep me in an apartment by itself for a year.

It was explained to me that a "Simple" cremation is done with several animals, and the ashes are comingled and partitioned out to the pets' owners. A "Private" cremation involves just one particular pet. Obviously, a "Private" cremation is more expensive.
The room always gets a little dusty when I receive an order for those tags.

They're from the town I did most of my growing up in.
My older sis went to high school with the three founding members and those three came to my high school and did an hour or so long show.
They did a video called Band of Miracles or something close. Really worth watching. They were amazed at the success that grew from their humble beginnings. And Phil Ehart came across as a really likable guy to me. Fellow drummer too, though I am NOT in his league.

Please get a current appraisal by an estate appraiser, not a real estate brokerage appraiser, but I think they aren't exactly cheap. What you have is a very out of date value. The sister in law's aunt's executor tried to pull the same crap and sell the the aunt's property on the cheap to a friend of his without a current appraisal!

Wait a gosh darn minute. You say the last appraisal was a couple of years ago? In Illinois, a real estate appraisal must be done after death, and within 30 days. One of the first things we had to do was get an appraiser out to the house. It has to be valued as to what it is worth at the time of death. The executor is responsible for that. Unless your state laws are significantly different - a new appraisal must be done. A couple of years ago is not valid.

I don't disagree that twitter is a silly platform and print is much more informative, but print media is not just dying because it skews left, it is also because of people's changing news consumption. How many libs in New York actually read the NYT? They may still have it delivered to look good, but I am betting they get their news online (if they get it at all.)
Getting a conservative news/media channel would also be more productive than a print media venue, I would think.

Honestly, what I'm hoping... as futile as it may be, is that the Trump derangement becomes so great, they beclown themselves to the point where "reasonable" (reasonabler?) left leaners decide they need to separate themselves from the riff raff.
There could be a realignment toward a centrist approach to governance that would not be unwelcomed at this point. I might still be fringy on my side of things, but would grumble and more or less accept something like peaceful disagreements.

Really is incredibly bad business decision. It's like our small engineering ( consulting firm (we are all conservatives) posting a sign that says "Liberal are idiots, we hate you, take your projects elsewhere.). I consume very little pop culture/entertainment mostly just movies long after they are released and you can get them cheap or free. What I do is largely due to hat fact I have kids and you can't make them live in total isolation. Democrats to fight effectively during the course of the campaign.
Aaaaand this is EXACTLY the MSM strategy used against the GOP for years.
Heck, John Nolte identified and wrote a column on the Tabloidzation" of Palin in 2008, and provided a detailed list of the ways the MSM daily painted Palin and her family as a rednecky mess --- all while giving Obama and family reverent, respectful coverage --- with the strategy of having people not remember one single thing that made them think poorly of Palin, but just the general sense that she and her family are a circus freakshow, not our kind, would just be too much to invite that crazy into the WH.
That's the point of merging the media with the entertainment industry during campaign season - you get this blurring of coverage between the so-called serious news media + SNL/Daily Show/late night shows + Vanity Fair/People/EW/Nat'l Enquirer, etc. where one feeds off the other, creating a 24x7/no escape overall message.
