MeAgain Kelly's Last Ride

Well, not her last ride -- her last show will be Friday.

But I'm sure Cable's Queen of Drama will review some of her dramatic career for us. She might even have a series of Male Defenders on to explain how right she is about everything.

==================

From the preceding thread:

16 One of the nearly innumerable glorious achievements of our most beloved President Of Color is recognizing that global warming and political incorrectness are the greatest threats to the United States and the planet, and it is the mission of America's Navy to protect us from them.

President Obama's personally-vetted and approved Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, embraced this mission whole-heartedly, and has successfully changed course for the Navy and Marine Corps (and all their Corpspersons) away from their traditional mission of deterring potentially hostile navies, or if failing to do that, defeating them.

Secretary Mabus has, through dint of hard work and the nicest sense of personal example, successfully made the Naval services more caring, inclusive, and environmentally sensitive.

All of us here at the Brattleboro Womyn's Clinic are filled with gratitude.

Thank you Secretary Mabus, and President Obama!

DDoS has nothing to do with viruses (other than those used to run a bot-net - but that's ancillary to the attack). The attack, itself, can happen with or without viruses working with it. And it doesn't matter how much anti-virus you put on your machines, there are so many vulnerable devices out that that don't even have anti-virus software for them that creating bot-nets out of them is near impossible to stop (and personal computer anti-virus programs have no effect on them ... since they aren't "computers", in the standard parlance).

184 At least two sailors and four Marines, along with Japanese citizens, rescued two boys from a deadly Yokosuka car crash New Years Eve.

The troops were the first to arrive on the scene after a car plummeted from the 5th story of a parking garage outside Yokosuka Naval Base, killing three of the occupants and injuring two children, ages 11 and 16, according to a Stars & Stripes Report. Three other passengers were killed.

Navy officials confirmed that four Marines from a fast-response team and a sailor assigned to the destroyer McCampbell assisted in the rescue. Another sailor, identified by Stripes as First Class Petty Officer Garrett Osborne, assisted in the rescue as well.

Out of the corner of my eye I see this big object coming out of a building, and sure enough its an SUV flying out backward from this parking garage, Osborne, assigned to the Navy Munitions Command, said. At this point, its all going in slow motion, and I dont believe my eyes. Its almost something you see in a movie.

The service members assisted in freeing the boys and flipping the overturned car over but allowed local emergency services to render medical aid.

With a flourish!
It is how you treat the "lesser" mortals. Treat waitresses, junior Marines, whomever, with respect. If they foul it up, then you let them know, but if you are respectful, it gets corrected. Mabus, is the perfect example of a jackass, like Hillary, who does not care about the little guy. He did not care that there were hungry troops in line. He ordered his omelette then stood there bullshitting with the Navy LCDR he traveled with so that the cooks could not get more orders and get more people fed. Fortunately, I was a Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9), my deployment was nearly finished, our sister battalion had finished all the relief tasks, and all I had to do was confirm the baggage load out and ensure the flight manifests were good. I was also ready to drop my retirement papers. I was able to ask him, less than subtly, to egress the order point and move towards the pick up point. He mentioned to the Commanding General that a senior Marine (my last name included) needed to work on my tact. That got the Sergeant Major laughing. He invited me to dinner with my battalion Sergeant Major, meaning I got to sit at his table, and we had a quick chat on being appropriately respectful.
Tact is just another four letter word.

I believe that sparked all the other totally asinine things manufacturers had to inform customers of; like how to open a cheese single. God I hope this is just a minor valley in our humanity curve. I also believe that incident was very close to the time of the infamous "Walmart parking lot spanking" that sparked the birth of a completely delusional and entitled generation.

Sure, you expect coffee to be hot, but not that hot. That McDonald's had been warned several times by the local health department that their coffee was just too damned hot.

An old lady bought a cup of coffee from their drive-up window, and got third-degree burns on her genitals from it. Third-degree! And that's a really soft part of the body... did you know it can actually be melted by extreme heat? Because that's what happened to that poor old lady.

Wrong. Coffee boils at 220 degrees. This coffee was 180-190, the industry standard for brewing coffee. The old lady put the cup between her knees and smashed the cup into her lap while removing the lid. McDonalds coffee is still brewed at 180-190 degrees to this very day.

Yeah but... but who... dude.. WHO opens coffee in their LAP??
Wow.. blast from the past that was.. Pretty sure i said the same thing back then. IMO, the woman was retarded. Coffee is hot. Yup, sometimes youll get a cup that didn't even come out of the pot. They will put the cup right under the drip. Then its screaming hot.
But none of that matters because in the same way I don't try to do taxes while I drive, I don't put a hot beverage in a flimsy-ass Styrofoam cup on my bag while I'm driving, or at all really.

250 No. It wasn't. The coffee was literally boiling in the cup.

Not even close. Read the case.

Originally, all she asked for was a small sum to help with the medical bills. They denied her.

As they should have. It was her fault. All of it. HER stupidity (and her grandson's, who was driving the car). What sort of an idiot puts a friggin styrofoam cup in between her legs and takes the cap off (likely while the car was moving, though the liars deny that)?

She had to have skin grafts to repair the damage to her legs and groin. She went back and asked again. They denied her again. THEN she amped it up.

Poor grannie. She messed up and she wanted someone else to pay for her idiocy. She's just lucky that our judicial system is a joke and that we have insane juries and judges who aren't qualified to sit on anything but a park bench.

251 Starbuck's coffee won't melt your pee-pee. Nor will McDonald's coffee, under most circumstances. But that particular McDonald's ignored multiple warnings from the local health department and from McDonald's corporate HQ that they were serving their coffee too hot.

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 03, 2017 11:02 PM (0OG8D)

252 That particular McDonald's was liable for Stella's horrifying injuries.

So, too, was the corporation, for not yanking that franchise's license after those repeated warnings.

It is not normal to end up with melted genitals from spilling coffee in your lap.

Good coffee should be delivered piping hot - especially good takeout coffee. Your cheap home drip machine probably makes it around 165° ... and that's not hot enough to serve commercial takeout. The McD's coffee in question was less than 20° hotter than that. It was, in a word, "perfect". Sure, there were a bunch of twerps who like lukewarm coffee who complained. Shit, I wash my hands in 120° water.

You should not be able to just start chugging coffee. It should be too hot to sip so that you can let it get to the temperature that you like - and so that it doesn't go cold and worthless while you're still drinking it.

The minute the old bitty put the styrofoam cup in between her legs and took the cap off was the minute she assumed full responsibility for everything. You would think that someone who managed to live to 80 would have learned that little factoid at some earlier point.

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 03, 2017 11:09 PM (0OG8D)

Her genitalia problems have nothing to do with this. The coffee was between 180° and 185° and that is a perfect temperature for takeout coffee ... for any coffee being served commercially.

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at January 03, 2017 11:13 PM (zc3Db)

255 Then why did both the local health department and McDonald's corporate HQ warn that McDonald's franchise that they were serving their coffee too hot?

If serving coffee that's hot enough to give you Ken-doll genitals from the sort of simple spill that happens every day is normal, why hasn't every company that serves coffee faced a similar lawsuit?

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 03, 2017 11:21 PM (0OG8D)

256 Why has Congress never called for restaurants to start serving takeout coffee at a cooler temperature, for that matter?

Because Stella Lubick's case was unusual. That one place served its coffee too hot.

If everyone served coffee that hot, there would've been congressional hearings about it.

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 03, 2017 11:27 PM (0OG8D)

257 If serving coffee that's hot enough to give you Ken-doll genitals from the sort of simple spill that happens every day is normal,

Uh ... you're talking about an 80 year old, here. What would cause problems for an 80 year old (or I think she was only 79 at the time) is not the same as what would cause problems for a normal person. Old people can get nasty bruises just from being rubbed up against. That doesn't mean that anything that gives an 80 year old nasty bruises would have done the same with a normal, middle-aged person.

Second of all, she opened the coffee cup IN BETWEEN HER LEGS - a styrofoam cup, at that (which aren't the sturdiest cups for keeping their shape with the cap off). You seem to continue to omit this detail as if it isn't the basis of the whole situation. It is. And, as I said earlier, the car was likely moving. They had just left the drive-thru and were not parked. They claim they weren't moving but most cars don't stop right after they exit the drive-thru.

For doing these incredibly stupid things it was her fault. Totally and completely. Or are you of the mind that coffee can only be served if it's cool enough to throw in someone's face without causing any problems? People generally know that coffee is HOT when they buy it. That's half the reason they're buying it. And sensible people don't put cups of HOT coffee in between their legs in a car and take the cap off.

why hasn't every company that serves coffee faced a similar lawsuit?

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 03, 2017 11:21 PM (0OG8D)

Because most people aren't despicable leeches and extortionists like this granny and her lawyer. And most people know that when they buy hot coffee ... it's HOT.

Like I said, 180°-185°. That is the fact of the case. Make yourself some coffee at that temperature and see if you think it's killer coffee. Those are the numbers. Check it out for yourself.

What are you trying to argue? I gave you the temperature of the coffee. Do you dispute that?

Look, if this old bitty went to a steak house and got a steak on a hot plate and, then, because she a retarded spaz tried to pick the plate up for some unknown reason and dropped it on her lap, thereby burning her and melting her ancient genitals, do you think the restaurant is responsible for that? Would you be calling for all steak houses to immediately stop serving steaks on hot plates? Why aren't there tons of cases against these steak houses? Those plates are often much hotter than the McD's coffee was.

I really don't understand what you're driving at? You don't think that people should be trusted with hot things and you want everything to be served at a temperature cool enough so that if the dumbest of people splashes whatever it is all over their face they won't be harmed?

I like hot coffee. I have a right to be served hot coffee even though there are idiots who will screw things up with hot coffee and hurt themselves and others. You seem to disagree. I really don't get your view on this. People who can't handle hot things shouldn't be ordering coffee. People who are spazzes shouldn't be getting steaks served on super hot plates. But the rest of us have a right to purchase and be served these things, without the proprietor having to worry about spazzes with lawyers and retarded juries.

261 And are the styrofoam cups from McDonald's that much worse at holding their shape when held between your legs than the paper cups used by Starbuck's? I don't believe there's that much of a difference.

262 #260: You said that everyone serves coffee that hot, that it's the industry standard. I'm arguing that that couldn't possibly be the case, since both McDonald's corporate HQ and the local health department had warned that McDonald's franchise that they were serving their coffee too hot.

Why would they have done that, if it was normal?

That's been my experience with styrofoam. But it doesn't matter, you just do not put a cup of hot liquid in between your legs in a car and take the lid off. That's beyond stupid, really, and is the only reason that anything happened. It wasn't the case that the McD's hadn't secured the lid or anything of the sort. It was the old lady doing this very stupid thing that any reasonable person would say makes her assume full responsibility for whatever happened.

Styrofoam or paper, everyone knows that the lid holds the cup in shape. The minute you take the lid off the cup starts squishing together and liquid is likely to start pouring over the edge. To do this in car, with pressure exerted by your thighs on the cup, while the car is likely moving, taking the cap off, while you're an 80 year old who isn't all that mobile .... I mean, shit.

Their coffee consultant recommended that temperature, since it is the best for serving coffee and maintaining the taste.

You can always let your coffee cool down to your liking (and usually with takeout it's going to cool down before one gets to where they're going, anyway) but you can't make your coffee any hotter.

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at January 04, 2017 12:11 AM (zc3Db)

I don't know. I do know that if I did something stupid and knocked an oven-hot steak plate onto my lap I would have the decency not to try and blame the restaurant.

You are against these super-hot steaks and their super hot plates, I have to assume. Personally, I don't see much of a reason for them but if people like that stuff I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to get them. Eventually some asshole will sue, though, and then that will be it for everyone.

269 Oh, that McDonald's hired a "coffee consultant", huh? Sounds like a job made for a Womyn's Studies major if I ever heard one.

How does this coffee consultant's word outweigh that of the local health department (which can revoke your foodservice license and shut your restaurant down), or that of McDonald's corporate HQ (which can revoke your franchise license and shut your restaurant down)?

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 04, 2017 12:35 AM (0OG8D)

270 And I'm tellin' you, guy, if every restaurant and every coffee shop served coffee-to-go that was hot enough to melt your genitals, in a flimsy cup, there would've been congressional hearings about it by now.

There haven't been such hearings, though.

This tells me that that McDonald's was outside the norm as far as coffee temperature goes.

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 04, 2017 12:41 AM (0OG8D)

271 You can agree or disagree that that cup of coffee was too hot, but if coffee of that temperature were served everywhere, more such injuries would've resulted, and you can't seriously deny that House Democrats would've taken that up as some sort of "social justice" cause.

Posted by: The Deplorable Prothonotary Warbler at January 04, 2017 12:47 AM (0OG8D)

272 McD's coffee is still served very hot and will still give third degree burns if you pour it onto your lap and it gets absorbed into your clothes. Other burn cases have occurred, and in some of them (one where a 4 year old was handed a refill) McD's actually does deserve some liability.

People react emotionally to the severity of the injuries in this case, but a lot of people consider the fault to be entirely the side of the customer. All that crap about the coffee being too hot was the plaintiff's lawyer building their case. In the end she was the one who took the cap off and held it between her legs. No "Caution: Very Hot Liquids" can fix that kind of stupid.

Nah, McDonald's doesn't deserve any liability, there. That kid was just a total dummy. Have you ever dealt with a four-year-old? They're so stupid. They actually believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. It's just embarrassing, really.

Accidents don't happen to smart people, you know.

And even if they did... just hypothetically speaking... it couldn't possibly be someone else's fault.

No artistic genius was ever killed by a drunk driver, for example. It just doesn't happen!

A smart person is always aware of anything that could possibly happen to him at any given moment, and has an ironclad plan for dealing with it.

Like Batman in the Justice League comics. He always has the perfect plan for anything that could possibly happen. Nothing ever catches him by surprise. He's definitely of... slightly above-average intelligence.

Batman from the Batman comics, though? He sometimes actually gets caught by surprise. What an imbecile! World's Greatest Detective, my ass. World's Greatest Dumbass is more like it. "Oh, noes! Who could've ever guessed that the Clock King was working together with Killer Croc?"

Well, maybe you could've if you'd bothered to pull your bat-head out of your bat-ass, you bat-dipshit.
