Trump Chooses Oklahoma AG Scott Pruitt, Who Has Sued the EPA Numerous Times, to Be Head of EPA

Well. I guess he won, then.

Pruitt has been a very outspoken critic of President Obama's EPA, has sued the agency on mulitple occassions and has also questioned "the degree and extent of global warming and its connection to the actions of mankind," having called the "debate … far from settled."

According to the Environmental Defense Fund, Pruitt previously boasted that he “led the charge with repeated notices and subsequent lawsuits against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for their [sic] leadership’s activist agenda." Moreover, per Reuters, Pruitt led the charge for Oklahoma in restoring environmental regulatory oversight to the states and away for the agency he's slated to run.

149 Yes! A climate change skeptic in charge of the E-fucking-P-A.

Meanwhile out here in Californicated Colorado, the leftists continue waging their war against gas and oil. Near where we live, just east of the Boulder county line, the powers that be for the City and County of Broomfield are telling Extraction Limited that they cannot drill on land they own, even though Extraction's land is zoned for drilling ops.

The locals have screamed and yelled, gone door to door to raise opposition, and raised enough hell to get the council, with a slim R majority of one vote, to do the only thing the state legislature will allow, and that is to declare a "moratorium" on a startup. This, so they can "gather more information."

The state has already said that localities cannot outlaw fracking in defiance of state law, but the locals figure a way to delay it.

A moratorium gives lefties time to get even louder and more organized.

187 Trump is out Alinkying the Alinskyites!

It has been a tried and tried technique for leftist inside the government to coordinate strategies with leftists outside the government to change government policy. Generally, this involves arranging to have nonprofits sue the govt so the government can roll over and give the nonprofit everything they want, and THEN hire some of the people who sued to run the agency involved.

The most notorious instance of this was Shirley Sherrod who sued the government, for not giving her, a "black farmer" (who never grew anything) a government-back ed agricultural loan.

Not only did the govt. roll over and let her win, they then HIRED her to coordinate a class-actiuon lawsuit against themselves so they could hand out billions of $$$ to people just like her.

Trump is now "flipping the script" but doing the same thing in reverse -- hiring critics of agencies to run those agencies. Because that is what is needed to reverse Obama's entrenched policies.

It is of course impossible that the bureaucracy will do the right thing, so the next best thing is to utterly paralyze them. If nothing else they can no longer harm decent Americans. Most folks don't know that years ago the FCC blocked out 2.4 GHz from
most commercial use because water vapor will absorb 2.4GHz
transmissions. Instead they had designated it 'for experimentation
only'.
That's also the reason that microwave ovens use 2.4GHz.
When
it came time to make WiFi, using 2.4GHz had the benefit that the
distance of the network was limited (and that 'for experimentation only'
tag meant the WiFi products didn't have to have FCC testing prior to
shipping).
You may (or may not) realize that trying to use WiFi
(especially 802.b/g) near your microwave oven really doesn't work that
well.

I thought that early in the primary process, but the belief faded with time.

By the time the election came around, the Democrats had demonized him to such a degree that no semi-prominent liberal would be able to take a job in the administration and remain in good standing if he won (which, of course, he did).

I give a lot of credit to Mike Pence, who probably has a lot of control in the selection process and might be forming the pools to some degree. He'll probably have a lot of power when it comes to lower level positions as well.

273 Well PATCO did something illegal, they actually staged a strike.

For higher wages and a less than 40 hour work week. Stranding people everywhere.

Reagan gave them a deadline to return to work. Many believed the PATCO BS and did not return. So Reagan fired them and banned them from ever working a Federal job again.

And Bill Clinton lifted that ban.

Here in northern California, the early city planners planted millions of Tasmanian Blue Gum eucalyptus trees (among the fastest growing trees in the world) so they could be harvested and used for building material. But it turned out that the grain in the wood was consistently so warped and twisted that it couldn't be used for planks. So their backup plan was to use the trees as a endless source of firewood, for people to warm their home by burning eucalyptus logs in their fireplaces.

And then...ooops!!!

It turns out that the oil in eucalyptus wood burns so hot (just like coal in your example, but even moreso) that it disintegrated the mortar holding the bricks together in fireplaces. Countless chimney and fireplaces were destroyed by the misguided burning of eucalyptus logs in them, before people finally wised up.

By now it is generally known to never burn eucalyptus in your home fireplace.

And I'm sure if what they did rises to the level of a truly illegal act rather just a despicable one they will be toast. But the problem remains that the single biggest impediment to shrinking the bureaucracy is our ridiculous civil service laws which makes many of these people untouchable no matter how bad they fuck up. Look at the VA as one of the most egregious examples.

This law though doesn't apply to everyone with a federal job and all sorts of departments can also be downsized.

Under Reagan, EPA jobs were dramatically cut.

The law's purpose was so a Democrat or Republican wouldn't fire everybody and then hire their friends and donors.

But these jobs can definitely be legally cut without repealing the Civil Service Act.

9 Remember how the left liked to do the tactic of getting a friendly outside group to sue a government agency, and then have the agency not put up a fight because then they are "bound by law" to do what they wanted to do in the first place?

This is how they behaved because they thought they and their fellow travelers would be in power forever. They really believed this.

Remember that when you look at how the VA, EPA, IRS, Justice, have behaved the last eight years. They truly believed the age of accountability was over.

It's astounding when you realize the true scope of the bubble they have been living in. This is why so many of them are so shocked and upset. They honestly thought it would never end.

Posted by: zombie at December 07, 2016 03:53 PM (jBuUi)

They planted shitloads of them in SoCal too. In SoCal chaparral, the primary native plant species being manzanita, which burns like gasoline-soaked white phosphorous.

Even funnier is that the eucalyptus in SoCal has relatively shallow root systems, which means that when the Santa Ana winds come roaring through the canyons, if they don't burn, they fall down. I've personally seen huge eucalyptus with 10-12 ft trunks fallen across roads in the coastal mountains and in the rich folks community in Montecito. Sometimes barely missing multimilion dollar homes owned by raging commie cocksuckers.

Warms my evil black heart.

___________________________________________
Had an interesting discussion about this very subject with my young cousin - (more like my niece than my cousin) who lives in the People's Republic of Park Slope, Brooklyn. She was wailing, ululating and generally tearing her hair and garments about Trump's win and launched forth into a - "this is going to endanger the planet - Trump doesn't believe in global warming." when I stopped her dead. "First of all," I said - "none of the global warming models have accurately predicted anything . . . and have, in fact, been extremely wrong, which is no surprise as we cannot use weather models to even predict the movements of hurricanes after a few days ( I explained the "cone of uncertainty") let alone the climate of the entire planet decades or hundreds of years from now. If we could so predict the weather everyone in the insurance industry, such as myself, would be living on our own islands made of solid gold because we have been using weather models for at least 30 years. They simply cannot be relied on that fashion."

"Secondly," I went on, "according to all the ridiculous warmists - including Al Gore, we should all be underwater right now - and the Earth mostly destroyed. . . and yet . . . here we are. Have you noticed that The Netherlands have ceased to exist? Nope? Me neither."

My problem is, as I explained, that being a better caretaker of our natural resources, not littering and polluting only when necessary, as well as preserving open spaces and parks for hunting and recreation are things conservatives and liberals can agree on to a certain extent - with conservative agreement ending at reasonability in preservation of the wild and non pollution - liberals go on to try and stop any use of any resources on poor precious Gaia and if we don't we are all going to die and be underwater or fried like eggs etc.

If the idiot environmental folks had not tried to lie to everyone with all this alarmist bull-hockey (stating that we were going to go extinct within decades) then there might have been more consensus around preservation for reasonable use - hunting, fishing recreation, natural beauty preservation, use of resources economically, and everyone would be happy. Aye - but there's the rub - people being happy and liberals just do NOT go together.

My cousin and I are still speaking to eachother - but I think everyone was surprised at my push-back on this - but they should not have been. My position is and has been - the earth will heat and cool regardless of what we do from a climate perspective because, scientifically, the greatest controller of our weather is the sun. Period. End of story. "Climate scientist" is a new, made-up term, for people who could not make it as real scientists ( chemists, physicists engineers, etc.) and anyone who uses a computer model to predict any weather related event, or climate, for any period longer than the next few days is an friggin idiot and a person who bases the entire policy of a nation and the movement of billions of dollars in monies based on such models is an even bigger friggin idiot by a factor ten to the tenth power.

Preserve the environment and wild spaces for future generations always within the realm of reasonability and not at the cost of our own lives and livelihoods - because it is a good thing to do - and leave the alarmism at home for chrissakes.

OK off the soapbox.

Pruitt - good - btw. He will roll back the idiocy of over-regulation by the EPA for no actual gain (and no scientific basis) and make common sense preservation of the environment the law of the land.

That is all.

One more devastating fact to add to your quiver:

As has been demonstrated in several recent studies, the mild rise in atmospheric carbon over the last century has been directly responsible for a planet-wide "global greening" such that there is now 7% more foliage on Earth today then there was 50 years ago. And the effect is most pronounced in areas where it is most needed -- the edges of deserts.

More plants = more animal = more biodiversity.

So, in actual reality, pumping carbon into the atmosphere HELPS the planet and INCREASES biodiversity because carbon dioxide is basically airborne plant food.

The Coming of the New Ice Age: End of the Global Warming Era?

https://pjmedia.com/zombie/2012/01/31/ the-coming-of-the-new-ice-age-end-of-the-global-warming-era/?singlepage=true

"I just finished reading a terrifying new book about climate change. I learned this:

• Climate change is happening faster than we realize and it will have catastrophic consequences for mankind.

• There's very little we can do to stop it at this late stage, but we might be able to save ourselves if we immediately take these necessary and drastic steps:

- Increase our reliance on alternative energy sources and stop using so much oil and other carbon-based fuels;
- Adopt energy-efficient practices in all aspects of our lives, however inconvenient;

- Impose punitive taxes on inefficient or polluting activities to discourage them;

- Funnel large sums of money from developed nations like the U.S. to Third World nations;

- In general embrace all environmental causes.

You of course recognize these as the solutions most often recommended to ameliorate the looming crisis of Global Warming. But there's a little glitch in my narrative. Because although the book I read was indeed about climate change, it wasn't about Global Warming at all; it was instead about "The Coming of the New Ice Age," and it isn't exactly "new" — it was published in 1977.

The Solution Remains the Same

As many other pundits and analysts have pointed out, in the mid-to-late 1970s we endured a massive "climate change scare" that was the exact opposite of the one we're enduring now. Back then, the media and activists trumpeted the arrival of a new ice age, with the specter of ice sheets and glaciers covering half the northern hemisphere, and brutal winters in the remaining ice-free zones.

The fact that the media and popular culture and academia have veered from one panic-inducing disaster scenario to another one which completely contradicts the first one is funny enough in its own right. But reading The Weather Conspiracy: The Coming of the New Ice Age opened my eyes to an even more significant aspect of this serial crisis-mongering:

The "solutions" prescribed to solve both Global Warming and the looming Ice Age are exactly the same.

In both cases, proponents of the theory-du-jour say that in order to stave off disaster, we must reverse the march of civilization, stop our profligate use of carbon-based fuels, cede power and money from the First World to the Third World, and wherever possible revert to a Luddite pre-industrial lifestyle.

I realized: The solution (commit civilizational suicide) always remains the same; all that differs are the wildly divergent purported "crises" proffered up to justify the imposition of the solution.

Seen from this angle, the entire Climate Change field should be more properly reframed thus:

In order to weaken and eventually destroy the existing industrialized nations, we must devise an ecological "crisis" so severe that only voluntary economic suicide can solve it; and if this first crisis doesn't materialize as planned, then devise another, and another, even if they flatly contradict our previous claims."

500 The thing is, with warnings of disaster, you're always eventually going to be right, if you live long enough. All you have to do is keep yelling then when it finally happens say "See, I told you so!!" loud enough.

Of course after it served its purpose and stopped all the bad guys , the EPA had to create bad guys so it could justify its continued existence. It had become the bad guy.

Which is always the way of the left. Their worst enemy is success. They figured that out eventually, and we started getting the continual ratchet. As soon as they got close to a win on one thing, they came up with something even crazier to push on us. Keeps them relevant and important.

I don't think he has changed much if any on his politics, I think two things are going on here.

1) He doesn't really know much about what to do, but he knows how to hire people that do, so he's trying these guys. If they can pull it off, he'll go with it. If not, he'll throw them over for more moderate/left folks and try them.
2) Its a thumb in the eye of all those people who were so incredibly insulting and offensive to him.

That's the question being tossed around by agriculture groups across the
country after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the
names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of approximately

Not only is
this a general privacy concern, the information released by the EPA was
given to environmental activist groups, including: Earth Justice, the

information was requested through the Freedom of Information Act by the
activist groups.

Oh yes - I agree - the whole benefit of global warming ( a la the Medieval Warming Period) - let's start farming Greenland and Iceland more and using less oil to heat during the winter in North America and the EU - is something I don't usually get to in the argument because they have usually lost at that point, as every argument for global warming is quickly exposed as scientifically unsupported. My favorite question to AGW idiots: so if warming proves the AGW theory, and cooling proves the AGW theory, then what weather patterns do we need to look for that can possibly disprove AGW. If the answer uis ( anjd itr always is) none or they don't know - then may answer is: your theory is therefore not scientific as any theory must be provable - in order to be provable it needs to be provable by submitting it to tests of its accuracy - i.e tests to see if it is untrue - if it cannot be then it is faith and not science.

As to the Medieval Warming period - they never have an answer for that one either - feh

Al Gore won a frigging Nobel for that ridiculous unscientific AGW garbage - can you frigging believe it? Let me tell you - I can think of another great use for Nobel's TNT - and it involves the Nobel Committee and an ice flow. I kid - I kid - but you get the idea.

What is this thing of which you speak?
Posted by: Infidel

I know someone who is OBSESSED with recycling. Whenever he visits and stays at my home, he insists on recycling literally everything -- used napkins, every tiny scrap of plastic, bits of aluminum foil no bigger than a postage stamp, etc.

So a while ago I trolled him by (after having first researched it) that most recycling efforts are counter-productive -- it costs more in energy and carbon output to collect and transport all the recyclables from a zillion individual users to the processing center and then converting it back into the raw material than it would to simply mine/harvest it from scratch and process fresh paper/plastic/metal. Recycling is only efficient enough to be useful in certain circumstances (industrial-scale waste) and certain household materials (glass). Otherwise, it's just virtue-signalling for liberals with no actual benefit for the environment - -in fact, in most cases household recycling HURTS the environment overall when all energy costs are factored in.

He was not amused.

He continues his obsession to this day. One a brainwashed progressive, always a brainwashed progressive. Facts are annoyances.
