Naturally: Abdul Artan Was Taking a Course in Microaggressions, and Had a Group Project Due This Week

I guess he was going for Extra Credit.

Before he was shot dead while attempting to murder a bunch of people with a car and a butcher's knife, Ohio State University student Abdul Artan--a Pakistani immigrant who reportedly became radicalized after learning about injustices committed against fellow Muslims--was enrolled in a class called "Crossing Identity Boundaries."

In fact, he had a group project on "microaggressions" due later this week. The assignment, worth 15 percent of his grade, required students to find a dozen examples of microaggressions on social media and explain which identity groups were the victims, according to the syllabus.

The purpose of the class is to promote "intercultural leadership" and transform students into "actively engaged, socially just global citizen/leaders." It seems to go well beyond merely educating students, though—it actually requires them to become social justice activists.

I keep asking the same question:

If whites were tribing up and "studying" the violent crimes inflicted on them by minorities, and generally whipping themselves up into a lather about the Minority Peril, would the media find this dangerous and a Cause for National Concern?

Of course they would. This would be "martial rhetoric" which produces a "climate of hate" in which violence against the outgroup is encouraged.

But when #BlackLivesMatter tells people that white cops are prowling the street looking for young black men to assassinate?

Apparently that's not dangerous -- either because only whites are so evil as to be encouraged into violence, or because White Lives Really Don't Matter.

By the way, it will probably surprise you buttloads to hear that sources say that Artan was inspired by ISIS propaganda. Fox Tweet mentioning this (and nothing else) here.

This has proven the hardest rule to turn tables on the Left. That's because the Left's book of rules isn't transitive. E.g. blacks can't be racist; women can't be sexist. In fact, the Organs of the Left -- Academia and MSM -- are happily hypocritical on this.

In 2015, there were 990 fatal shootings by police in the US. Of those, 258 were black (494 were white). Of the 258 black fatalities, 38 were unarmed (32 of the whites were unarmed). - FBI statistics via the WaPo

39 The biggest fault lines in American politics will be less and less over race and gender identities. "City v. Country" is the big one, and played a huge role in 2016. Trump did a little better than Romney with Blacks and Hispanics, even more so when you account for turnout. But the reason Trump won, even though he did less well with City Whites than Romney, was the big turnout he got from Country Whites.

I'd also add The Borg as a fault line -- an unholy alliance of BigGov, MSM and Academia, which is melding. Some members of BigBiz are already a part of the this, and are increasingly aligning with the Cultural Left. Many media outlets are owned companies already part of The Borg.

The Inner Sanctum of The Borg has money and power, but doesn't have voting numbers. Which is why it courts the minority vote, including with the promise of Free Shit and Lifestyle License. This can work in most major cities, but 2016 showed that it doesn't necessarily work for the entire nation.

Trump is re-branding the R party, which always had a clubbish classist tinge that limited its brand appeal.

If Trump has an effective first term I can see lots more minorities and disaffected others in the D party switching sides. Because at the national level, the D Party is now about promoting the interests of The Borg above all else.

Gee, I wonder where he learned about the injustices? Probably in one of OSU's kill whitey courses.

Posted by: TheQuietMan at December 01, 2016 01:19 PM (493sH)

49 In 2012/13, the most recent year DOJ released these stats, blacks committed an average of 506,600 violent crimes against whites, while whites committed only 99,403 violent crimes against blacks. So in violent crimes involving blacks and whites, blacks were the attackers in 84.9 percent of the crimes.

Based on crime statistics, blacks are 27 times more likely to attack a white, and 8 times more likely to attack a hispanic, than vice versa. A hispanic is 8 times more likely to attack a white than vice versa.

http://www.amren.com/news/2015/07/new-doj-statistics-on-race-and-violent-crime/

But yeah, it's whites who are the problem in this country.

That Artan idiot at OSU was interviewed at the beginning of the school year. He expressed his fears about how Muslims in the U.S. were being unfairly stereotyped as terrorists.

A few months later, Artan went on his killing spree.

Not only do these people lack any kind of self-awareness, they also lack any sense of irony.

My guess is Mr.Jihadi genius, with his open enrollment degree from Columbus State, was enrolled in one of the idiot SJW studies programs offered instead of the many real degrees you can earn at OSU that take actual talent, work, and study to achieve.
As long as there are idiot snowflakes who want to enroll in this stuff, and whose tuition is paid by the government or some benevolent SJW charity group, colleges will continue to offer them.
It keeps the Feds off their back.

This is why Hillsdale takes zero federal funding and cannot allow it's students to accept federal grants or loans. They went through being sued by the Justice Department and the Department of Education over their refusal to provide to the government the number of students of this race and that ethnicity, which a judge said they must do since they at the time accepted students who had gov. loans.

I think they are one of five universities/colleges in the nation that are totally independent.

OSU has to offer this crap, maintain this huge office of diversity and inclusion, etc. (even though the school has had black and minority students enrolled there for decades). This is all Federally driven.

68 Charles Manson's entire worldview was based on the notion that the Left needed a Race War to initiate a total communist revolution -- and that therefore it was his role to initiate that race war. He called this strategy "Helter Skelter," based on the Beatles song. But being a scatterbrained psychotic, he never got around to the "killing blacks" part, but started the Helter Skelter campaign haphazardly by killing whatever random people had vexed his cadre of crazies -- and the police quickly hunted them down and broke up the cult before Helter Skelter could be enacted.

But guess what? He was right, at least in principle: The Left DOES want a Race War in order to pave the way for a communist revolution. There are even documents and manifestos from the 1950s in which American communists note that it will be necessary to "stir up the Negro" into a frenzy of racial resentment, to get the ball rolling.

Fast forward half a century and now that tree has borne fruit. They are overtly striving for a race war now.

And unfortunately for them, they got it. When 70% of the population is white, however, the race war didn't turn out how the Left imagined.

Although I don't see most SJW's as having either enough guts or energy to actually get stabby on the street. Most of the pajama boys would be more comfortable with Eichmann style desk jobs, casually sending millions of deplorables to their deaths with one touch of the Ipad. 87 "If whites were tribing up and 'studying' the violent crimes inflicted on them by minorities, and generally whipping themselves up into a lather about the Minority Peril, would the media find this dangerous and a Cause for National Concern? Of course they would."

Of course.

But here's the deal about "microaggressions", of the sort cited in the Abdul Artan case: they are not _violent crimes_ per se by whites against minorities.

Instead, they're quite literally anything and everything which an aggrieved minority individual might happen to subjectively parse as having (perhaps wholly unconscious) aggressive _intent_.

The first time I had heard of "microaggressions" was here in Commiefornia, in academic circles out of UCLA. A deeply experienced professor in the graduate school of education there had a group of students who were handing in papers filled with elementary errors of grammar and spelling. Stuff that wouldn't clear the bar in high school, much less in grad school.

The prof attacked those papers with a red pen, and flagged every incompetent howler in the writing therein. He then sternly told the students responsible that they needed to improve their work, and that he would personally undertake to tutor them, polish their skills, and get them up to an acceptable academic standard.

One eensy weensy teensy tiny problem here.

The prof was white. The underperforming students submitting substandard work were predominantly black males.

MICROAGGRESSION ELEVENTY!!!

Why, said the black candidates for masters' and doctoral degrees, he's subtly implying that we darkies are stupid and incapable.

The way it all shook out was that the prof basically destroyed his career in that instant. He'd have been fired on the spot had he not had tenure. As it stands, he'll spend the rest of his time at UCLA in the academic equivalent of a "rubber room", doing research tasks only, not actually instructing and supervising students.

Posted by: Jean at December 01, 2016 01:14 PM (2RVmA

ITT lost it's accreditation because it's courses didn't meet minimum standards for students to graduate and receive employment. As a non accredited school, it's students were not eligible to transfer credits to other schools, etc. and therefore, ceased to function as an actual school.

It's possible the microaggression course being taught at OSU is an elective, with a pass fail type of thing that wouldn't count toward a degree but ends up being taken by the paid for student who doesn't want to work and goes to school as an excuse.

Not so much that, as that *other* whites are evil and *other* white lives don't matter. I think white SJWs are narcissists with an "Avatar" type fantasy. They are not self hating. Rather the reverse. Their fellow whites make them insecure, and hatred against "racist whites" is a disguised way of compensating for this. As I said on the last thread, I don't credit these dipsh*ts with any benevolent impulses as far as this issue is concerned. There is too much inconsistency and falsehood for that to be the case.

Last I heard, she had a son who was about 13. So I said, "How's your son doing? In high school yet?"

"Oh yes, he's in 11th grade now."

"Has he started thinking about what college he wants to go to?"

Her: "Oh, he decided that it would be unfiar to go to a top school, because of his privilege. He's going to the local community college."

Me: (raises single eyebrow like Spock).

Her: "Yes, he's all obsessed with his own privilege now. He's looking for ways to address it. Kind of strange, the phases kids go through!"

And I thought to myself, but could not say out loud, "YOU IDIOT! The communists hgave just indoctrinated your kid and brainwashed him! You have lost him forever! While's he's still in HIGH FREAKIN' SCHOOL!"

On the other, we have reached a point in medical science where there's a long list of chronic conditions and other situations that would have been fatal even thirty years ago, but are now controllable.

The real answer in the end, I think, is to separate medical coverage from employment, completely, and separate chronic/major medical from the day-to-day stuff.

If it's ok to encourage people to hobble themselves, why not minorities and women?

Alternatively, if people were treated unjustly in the past, why do you think you can right this by hobbling *yourself* just because you possess some incidental characteristic as the "oppressor". Like if I was the same height as Jeff Dahmer, I owe some sort of deference to gay black men or something.

I posted this in Ace's opus below, but basically, the SJWs are hell bent on getting rid of King's "color blind society" and replacing it with a "color conscious society" to further their own ends. You see a color blind society is racist because in looking soley at an individual it denies any past sufferings someone who may have looked like said individual may have suffered.

231 The purpose of the class is to promote "intercultural leadership" and transform students into "actively engaged, socially just global citizen/leaders." It seems to go well beyond merely educating students, though--it actually requires them to become social justice activists.
---
Seems to work fine for riling up non-intercultural people and convincing them that they are so aggrieved (we don't call it "Grievance Studies" for nothing) that somebody needs to die of that same ethic group or culture grieving them.

This is the exact behavior that they don't want to "contribute to" or "encourage" in right-wingers, always playing those nightmare scenarios in their heads when a "wing-nut" snaps and takes out people for his "imagined grievances". This seems like human logic, when it's "wing-nuts": that people snap when they feel like they've been wronged. But of course only an "Islamophobe" would think that would happen to a Muslim, who are actually aggrieved by people saying bad things about them and expecting them to be violent (because it's wrong to expect people will react in violence!) because of violence of snapping Muslims--not like those violent wingnuts who don't have a grievance, because if anybody says bad things about them or implies that they are a constant threat, deserve it anyway...apparently.

I don't think even academics are dumb enough to expect literal race war: most blacks don't want to riot or get involved in sustained war even with these efforts. To put it in perspective, South Africa had a far greater African population with justified violence- and the Afrikaners crushed them utterly.

I'd rather think that leftists would fund extremist groups in order to crack down on them with martial law after picking the low hanging fruit. Problem is, what happens when a President simply targets the leaders and donors instead of the expendable drones?

Yes -- the irony is that the mother and son are FROM RUSSIA and arrived here as immigrants when the kid was about 8 years old. He may be ethnically "white" but he has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the crimes of the distant past committed by slaveowners or whatever. In fact, the kid IS NOT EVEN PRIVILEGED -- he's being raised by a single mom, had to learn English as a second language, and even has a mild disability himself. The fact that this completely non-privileged kid has been brainwashed into destroying himself because of his skin color is simply beyond infuriating.

I think Jay Carney was the most insufferable IMHO. I remember when he was asked about people losing their health insurance because their plans didn't comply with Obamacare he had the nerve to say they were junk plans as if he was an expert on what a good health plan was. That moment cemented his status in the Asshole Hall of Fame for me.

350 Obama at best saved some jobs by spending nearly $1 trillion dollars. As I recall there various analysis floating around showing $100,000 per job saved or more, and it was questionable how many, if if any jobs were really saved.

One thing is for sure. Trump very clearly saved 1000 jobs, at least, and it didn't cost the govt./public anything.

More Obama fail. Last month really was the the Best November Ever.

417 And while the news is busy paying attention to important stuff... like what Trump and Romney had for dinner (yes, an actual Fox Report)..

The Senate today did NOT overturn or even slow down the new "Policy" put forward for computers and government hacking.

The government now only needs ONE warrant to hack into anyone's computer, nationwide... if they suspect it is part of say... a bot network, they only need one friendly non teck Judge, and they can do basically anything they want to your computer equipment...

And note... damage inflicted in pursuit of any warrant? you can try to sue... but often Police agencies are given immunity...

When he starts talking about "manufacturing hubs where we partner with...universities, and local governments to create, uh, research labs" I just want to shake him and scream "this isn't a graduate class in gendered civic engagement! This isn't a whole foods think tank! What the fuck are you talking about?!"

But by far the most embarrassing part is when he says "oh we can train people in 3D printing and nanotechnology... or, all kinds of stuff that I can't really explain because uh scientists and really smart people know all about it."

You're the president, fuckface. You're not supposed to rely on "scientists and really smart people" to "explain" the US economy to the voter. That's literally your job. That's your whole job. Lead the country. Not obfuscate on behalf of global financial organizations.

I hope meet him someday. Oh if I could get him to sit down for an interview.

431 g of kari, as so many have noted for so long, the guy is not bright, or worldly, at all. Quite the opposite. I think Limbaugh had a funny and perfectly accurate saying - that O was the least qualified person in any room he entered. That sort of captures it.

Was only in the room once when he entered. There were two particularly more qualified people in the room - actually probably 4 or 5, but two others with long leadership experience who had frequently demonstrated knowledge and understanding of important issues.

This guy was pathetic, and boring. And if he looked like me, he wouldn't have been there, nobody would ever have heard of him, and he's obviously not (absurdly) been president.

498 "No, it's going to be ethnicity/religion. It just looks city vs country because most ethnics are concentrated in the urban centers."

Take a look at this map.
http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37889032

It shows the counties where Trump did better than Romney -- it's almost all outside the cities, especially so in the Midwest. Trump under-performed in most cities and in the West. It shows that the City v Country divide is quite dramatic.

While I thought Trump would win, it was a near run thing. In 2020 he can obviously win with the same states but it'd be nice to win many of them by 5% or more, not 1%. He can do that by doing better with White College (many of whom think he's a Clown) and by peeling off some more minorities. If so, he could even pick up more states, to add to his 306 EVs.

Thus, I don't see ethnicity and religion being stronger indicators than they are right now and probably less so.

The most surprising thing to me in the primaries was Trump winning most of the Evangelicals over. In the general it was Trump killing it in rural counties. Green Acres!

obama's failed "new green economy" in which he provided corporate
welfare for his Democrat pals to pretend they were manufacturing solar
panels.

The MFM believes he did create "green" jobs. They are bathing in the Barry Kool Aid

Posted by: TheQuietMan at December 01, 2016 02:48 PM (493sH)

It never made any sense that a kilowatt of power generated by a solar panel manufactured in China or a wind turbine manufactured in Denmark and installed once would create more employment than a kilowatt of power generated by a thermal plant that required a workforce, delivery of fuel by rail or pipeline, extraction of fuel (whether coal or gas), exploration and production of fuel, and manufacturing of all the capital equipment that extracts and delivers that fuel to the power plant, let alone the generating equipment itself. That is just absurd. And to boot, the solar or wind power was more expensive, so paying extra for it was like an invisible tax that took money out of the consumer's pocket that the consumer would otherwise have spent on something else, so the employment involved with that was lost, too (see the discussion of Bastiat above). A kilowatt of power saved by employing insulation installers obviously destroyed the jobs of everyone previously involved in the energy delivery supply chain to get that kilowatt to the consumer. The 5 million green jobs was a ridiculous claim to anyone who would look at it objectively, yet there was a conspiracy of silence about it. While it is just the way of the free market if someone finds a way to deliver the kilowatt that is more efficient -- creative destruction, as it were -- the government actually subsidizing a way to deliver the kilowatt that is still more expensive and less efficient, while telling us that it is creating employment when it clearly is destroying employment, creates the kind of cognitive dissonance that caused voters to oust the elites three weeks ago.

French lawmakers on Thursday will debate and vote on a government-backed draft law that could criminalize online pro-life advocacy. The legislation would extend the ambit of already-illegal “interference” in abortion to cover digital media.

Any website carrying material that is deemed to be “deliberately misleading, intimidating and/or exerting psychological or moral pressure” aimed at persuading a mother not to abort her child could face criminal charges, with punishments of two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros ($31,800).
