Even Hillary's Loyalists Think the Recount Is Silly; They Just Feel the Obligation to See It Through to Appease Their Supporters

I'm old enough to remember when cynically suggesting, just to play to one's lunatic base, that the election was rigged was considered dangerously anti-American.

That was three weeks ago.

Update: Democrats fear recount efforts will wind up hurting them. And Jill Stein whines that Wisconsin will charge her $3.5 million for her recount, above the $1.1 million they'd estimated.

So you know what time it is -- time for some more Green Party fundraising!!!

Since she needs ALL THREE to change the result, I'm confident nothing will come of it at all.

42 You know what the real point of this recount is? Raising money for the Green party for future elections. Jill Stein has already raised more money for this recount than she did for her entire election. It's not a coincidence that she's also asking for volunteers to do the recounting. Why would you need so many volunteers if you've already got so much money to conduct the recount?

This whole thing is just collecting early donations for the Green party in 2018 or 2020.

I used to do this with students who wanted extra points on an exam. They used to drive my colleagues crazy with their fishing expeditions, to the extent that many faculty would leave town after administering an exam, just to avoid getting their legs humped by half of the class. It was common to see an army parked outside a faculty member's office for this purpose.

I never had anyone outside mine, nor did I leave town. A colleague asked me how I did it.

"I encourage regrades."
"What?"
"Sure. I tell them students that if they think the grad students did a bad job of grading, I'll regrade the whole test. But I warn them that in general I consider the TAs to be way too generous."

Every new class someone would come bitching about 3 points they think they should have had. I would happily give them the 3 points, then turn the page and say, "Uh oh" and knock off 5 points on some other question, and hand them back the exam. End of problem.

In academia, entertainment is where you find it.

How does recounting votes already counted reveal fraud?

Fraud in the counting process maybe, but how does it reveal fraudulently cast votes?

More votes than voters in a precinct would be an indicator, but that should be evident prior to a recount.

166 This is for the attention of whomever within the Trump Transition Team is tasked with the reading of AoS, trawling for ideas.

Here's an idea:

Inasmuch that 0zero yanked the Census Bureau into a White House controlled orbit, it's now Trump's to play with as he may choose.

I'd suggest that the Trump Administration tailor the function of the Census, to also drive a concurrent absolute purge of dead, illegal, duplicate or otherwise ineligible voters from the Voter Registration rolls.

That puts the libs in a tight spot. They want to "census" every single illegal, transient, etc, so as to boost their numbers for Congressional District allocation, various Federal Dollars programs, block grants, ad nauseum.

But, if Census "gets 'em all", it'll also "get" the ones that are GONE, and that info should be used to purge the rolls.

The more thorough the Census, the more thorough the purging of the Dead, Derelict, Disqualified and Duplicated.

Puts the libs in one hell of a Catch-22, I think?

*end of suggestion*

Hope the Assigned Trump Trawler will fish that one out of the 'net and send it on up the line!

We're here for a purpose. We come with an offer. There has been too much violence, too much pain. None here are without sin. But I have an honorable compromise. Just walk away. Y'know, that is a truly brilliant idea. Seriously.

Trump should create a new Executive Position, perhaps called White House Comedian, and hire someone like Milo or whoever to ruthlessly "crack jokes" about his political opponents -- they way they crack jokes about him. And if anyone complains, the comeback will always be, "Hey, it's only a joke!" But through this "court jester" he will be able to punch back twice as hard when they attack him.

187 I'm old enough to remember when cynically suggesting, just to play to one's lunatic base, that the election was rigged was considered dangerously anti-American.

Of course, that was just a throw away comment from the America-hating left. I don't even like to joke about the stupid things that the left says to give any sort of credence to their America-hating claims. It is really a shame that so many stopped pointing out that Barky and the left are brain-dead, slobbering America-haters. Michelle Bachman mentioned this clear fact back in 2008 and she was roundly pounced on by the left, the MSM and the Vichy GOP turds.

The problem is that Shrillary has nothing to lose from pursuing these pain-in-the-ass recounts. She can't over-lose. And the left's voters don't give a shit about anything. Anything that hurts America is exactly what they want to pursue. It's just that simple.

In the Multiple Universe Theory of cosmology, all outcomes are not only possible, but actually happened -- if only history had gone down a different path. So, theoretically, if we recounted the ballots enough times -- a trillion times, if necessary -- eventually we'd get a result in which Jill Stein defeated Jeb Bush to win the Presidency in 2016. Statistically, no matter how unlikely, it could happen, and if it could happen, then according to the theory, it did happen in some universe. All we have to do is keep recounting until we get back into the right universe.

Yes, according to Clause XVII of the Constitution:

"XVII: He who soever 'ruins things' during the interregnum between winning an election and actually taking office shall forfeit that office henceforth and forever; and the People, in assemblage, shall hold a new election to replace the one who committed 'an unforced error,' a crime which is equivalent to Treason."

Posted by: zombie at November 29, 2016 01:58 PM (jBuUi)

291 All the recounts and talk of rigging is good for the end game of having Trump, the republican congress and a newly minted right-leaning Supreme Court lay down the law about elections.

Everyone who votes (in a federal election) must be a verified citizen.

Everyone votes on the same day - Election Day. No early voting.

Everyone votes in person. No mail-in voting. New provisions will be made for overseas citizens and military voting.

Voting will be standardized with paper ballots and optical scan counting.

All counting is accomplished within 1 hour of poll closing.

Voting rolls are cross checked 1 week prior to Election Day for dual registrations, felons, deaths, etc., then locked for that election. No one who doesn't appear on the official voter roll is allowed to cast a ballot.

Any illegal alien found to be registered to vote is immediately deported.

Election Day will be a national holiday.

Yes, more or less.

As much as I hate the SCOAMT, he was (is) brilliant at what he does - simultaneously acting in very powerful ways while making a good chunk of people believe that a) he had no choice in the matter, b) that someone else was actually responsible, or c) both.

So he can force OCare on America, but "it was passed by Congress." And he can override bankruptcy law to hand GM over to the UAW, but "it was the courts." And everyone (at least - everyone the least bit credulous) gets used to disassociating him with any of his actions, let alone their results.

Same reason nobody saw Trump's win coming - it would be socially unacceptable to admit to supporting Trump if you were asked by a pollster, so people gave pollsters the socially acceptable answer and then voted for Trump in the privacy of the voting booth.

It is socially unacceptable to admit to not supporting Barky, so...he maintains his approval rating. But voters voted against him and his chosen successor and the other dems running for house and senate.

And you could have found more than a few commies that you enjoyed having good times with. That didn't make communism or communists any less of an enemy to the United States. And islam is 1000 times worse and more focused on the eventual death and/or submission of the West than the commies ever were.

You like to pal around with some individual muslims? Good for you. But that has nothing to do with a reasonable attitude and understanding of the world and the people and cultures in it.

But, don't take it from me. Check out a little history.

316 "I have been drunk and naked and doing happy fun things with a Muslim woman and it was happy and fun."

The office co-workers who threw a baby shower in honor of Muslim immigrants Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik certainly thought everything was happy and fun.

A few weeks later, Farook and Malik burst into the same room, heavily armed, and started methodically murdering them. In a happy and fun way.

Chinatown.

In Chinese-owned general stores, they offer "illegal" incandescent bulbs openly for sale, often as cheap and 99 cents for a four-pack.

They're not illegal in China and they get shipping over here along with all the other cheap-ass Chinese junk for sale in these kinds of stores.

Meanwhile, all the stupid gwailos go to white-people's stores and buy outrageously expensive and totally dim/flickering "green" squiggly bulbs for $6.99 each.

Islam is not so tightly held in some places than in others. When I was in Erbil - a city which I would love to see as the capital of the sovereign nation of Kurdistan - and the call to worship sounded out from the loudspeakers, half the people in the streets didn't seem to notice, and the other half looked up, shrugged, and went about their business. Not one person in forty flopped to the ground and faced Mecca. Very different from the Arabic South.

For the most part, the Kurds are the good guys.

In Methuselah's Children, Heinlein makes an interesting point. The family members are discussing what to do now that their secret is out. One guy says that he's been friends with his neighbors for years and they wouldn't hurt him. It's pointed out to him that group psychology is not the sum of individual psychology. Knowing a nice Muslim doesn't change what Islam is. Just like knowing a nice KKK member, NAZI, communist, or SJW'er doesn't change what they are.

390 So you know what time it is -- time for some more Green Party fundraising!!!

++++

The Green Party itself has disavowed Stein's recount efforts.

The decision to pursue a recount was not made in a democratic or a strategic way, nor did it respect the established decision making processes and structures of the Green Party of the United States (GPUS). The recount has created confusion about the relationship between the Green and Democratic parties because the states chosen for the recount are only states in which Hillary Clinton lost. There were close races in other states such as New Hampshire and Minnesota where Clinton won, but which were not part of the recount. And this recount does not address the disenfranchisement of voters; it recounts votes that were already counted rather than restoring the suffrage of voters who were prevented from voting.

395 I've met and known many many many Muslims.

Some are (or seem to be) "good people," but their goodness is in direct inverse proportion to their religious observance. The more they obey the actual laws of Islam, then less good they are. All the "good" ones I knew where total apostates -- "Muslims" by cultural affinity only, not in actual practice.

If you are having extramarital sex with a "Muslim" woman, then she is not an actual practicing Muslim. In Islamic law, the penalty for simply engaging in consensual extramarital or pre-marital sex is Death. And as a Muslim, the woman would know that.

Big difference from being a cool place for westerners to live and a place where you could live without any issues. I could live in Dubai if I had to. Awfully farking hot and sandy but I could do it. Maybe Jordan. Maybe Kuwait. But then I don't want to live in Switzerland either unless I have to.

Obviously, Islam has a major problem on their hands and they have spent centuries ignoring and when that didn't work focusing the crazies outward. I don't know anyone who denies this.

But we aren't going to kill our way to ending this. There are well over a billion Muslims and the number is growing rapidly.

We need to stop the PC bullshit and start pushing back much harder than we have. I think Trump is scaring some of these countries enormously before even taking office. If he follows through and builds on it I think we are going to see some changes in behavior.

If you're talking about the Torah then you have no idea what's in it. Jewish law in the Torah doesn't apply to anyone but Jews. It isn't law that is supposed to bind all the people of the world. It is only jews that have to follow it. If there's anything that you consider "toxic" about Jewish law then it is only toxic to Jews. That is the point of a governance that doesn't seek to take over the whole world. Jews were only given one little piece of land to have Jewish Law rule over. That's it. No more. No one else. Just the Promised Land and just Jews. It is toxic to no one else, if at all.

And if you are talking about Joshua's conquests, and the like, then you are confusing history, as related in the Torah, with directives from G-d.

The only things that the koran shares with the Torah are the parts that mo stole and totally perverted - which is something that mo and muslims since him have been want to do.

No, you're attempting to blur the issue by engaging in false comparison. We're talking ideologies here.

I view Islam as both religion and political ideology since it embraces/commands adherence to certain very earthly guiding principles that can only be construed as political in nature, thus making it comparable to other ideologies.

I couldn't be friends with a communist or a Nazi or a Satanist or a muslim simply because their core beliefs are abhorrent and--in my view--sinister, even evil.

There's a big difference between a nice guy and a good man. A nice guy can be a Satanist. A good man cannot.

Muslims don't atone. They aren't from individualistic cultures and don't have guilt as one of their main control mechanisms. muslims operate under shame - which is a tribal system. The antidote to shame is revenge. And, while guilt is personal and private - you can only be guilty because of your own actions, not those of others - and shame is purely public - you can only be shamed if it is public knowledge of some action, and you don't have to do anything to find yourself "shamed" by someone - then it is close to impossible for shame-based societies to ever develop anything remotely individualistic. They just can't. History proves this point time and again.

The story of islam versus the West is very simply explained as:

Individualism/Guilt/Atonement versus Tribalism/Shame/Revenge

People who use individualistic thinking to reason the actions and intents of tribalistic societies are making a serious error and will never be able to actually understand the situation. Not on a group level and not on a personal level, either.

459 "I rely on incandescents for heating."

Likewise here. Actually, halogens.

As for LED bulbs, for all of the hype around them, I've tried two dozen different makes and models, and I still can't find ones that dim effectively to nice low levels and stay put at that output.

The LED bulbs will turn down to a pleasant glow, then, being semiconductor devices, will cool off slowly before an abrupt cut to black. Not helpful when navigating a cluttered bedroom after midnight.

Posted by: torquewrench at November 29, 2016 02:28 PM (noWW6)

460 LEDs are objectively better than incandescent for light quality, and pay for themselves in energy costs

Usually, but the problem is up front they are a lot more expensive and people can't always afford to save money in that way, if you know what I mean.

Its like Costco. Yes if you buy a pallet of toilet paper for 75 bucks its much cheaper than buying all those rolls separately for 99 cents each. but if you only have 10 dollars you can't save the money.

All of the left's brilliant ideas hurt the poorest and most vulnerable among us.

WI law is such that up to a point a recount can be requested if paid for by the requestee (and the election wasn't close, if the election was close WI will pay for 1 recount).

She's suing the state to try and make it do a hand re-count (complete with challenges to individual votes) when the state law is "machine recount unless reason to believe recount will change results of the election."

My guess is whatever judge she's got hearing the case (in 3 hours) will go along with her, the state will appeal up to the state supreme court which will laugh in her face. Then it will be a machine recount and the results will barely change, if at all.

You're not the brightest of bulbs when it comes to this topic. "Convert or die* is the ESSENCE of Islam. Further, those who practice Islam will tell you point blank that there is no such thing as a "secular Muslim".

Not that I suggest doing that as it's boring as hell.

However, if you did so, I think you would find out that islam is not just some whacky religion like...eh, the Amish, who are nutty but basically harmless.

Literally, if you are a good muslim you cannot be a good American.

If you're a good Christian, you can be a great American, though it's not required

Let's say that you are an atheist or Buddhist, according to the Koran (alternative spelling!) and hadiths, it's perfectly moral to murder that person for that fact alone. In fact, it's more or less an obligation.

Religion is something that ultimately people choose for themselves. Just as I would not want anyone who was a practicing Nazi or Klan member around me and imported into the country because of their ideology. So, would I not like to import people who's moral code endorses straight up murder according to our civil laws.

When it gets cold, those damn fluoresents don't do so good. But the incandescents work like a charm of course. The "high output" fluorescents do pretty well in cold temps. I think the low end of the temp rage is lower for the all electronic ballasts as well.

While I do believe that RADICAL ISLAM is the main problem and threat, I've long been of the opinion that even MODERATE MUSLIMS want the same goals as the radicals but that they don't have the balls to go jihad. I'm old enough to have known many Irish-Americans--decent, hard-working, patriotic Irish Americans who had a rooting interest in the IRA bombing the shit out of London. They would never do it themselves, but from their safe space 3,000 miles away? Have at it lads.

That said--if you utterly destroy the RADICAL MUSLIMS, the Moderates will give up the ghost and come around.

Posted by: JoeF. at November 29, 2016 02:22 PM (PpPly)

I tend to agree with this. I've known some Muslims who seemed quite nice (it is notable though, that they were not at all religious. I have no problems getting along and befriending religious Christians, Jews and Hindus - but very devout Muslims, almost by definition, keep their distance from infidels.)

The problem is not that every Muslin is an evil individual, it's that the ones who are have both unspoken and spoken support from "moderates" - people who will shelter them, justify their crimes, not report them to authorities. What percentage of the total Muslim population are they? A very large minority at the very least and the fact that we don't know exactly what that percentage is should lead us to be wary.

In polls taken in the UK and Canada, a majority of Muslims indicated they approve of Sharia law and think homosexuality should be outlawed and punished. And yet "proggressives " want more of these people in the country. It's ridiculous.

521 The problem is not that every Muslin is an evil individual, it's that the ones who are have both unspoken and spoken support from "moderates" - people who will shelter them, justify their crimes, not report them to authorities.

Right. Even if someone would not personally commit these atrocities and would not endorse them, they might protect "one of their own" and won't condemn them unless forced to.

See, if someone shot an abortionist and ran to my house saying "hide me from the police" I would tell them to turn themselves in and not hide them: what they did was also wrong. I just don't consider them as much a monster as the person they killed and sympathize with their motivations.

Every army uses psyops, disinformation and propaganda.

Islam uses human shields, which includes many of its adherents.

I don't defend them at all but at least anti-abortion attackers don't go out with the intention of murdering as many people as possible with no regard for their beliefs or actions regarding the question at hand.

524 In polls taken in the UK and Canada, a majority of Muslims indicated they approve of Sharia law and think homosexuality should be outlawed and punished. And yet "proggressives " want more of these people in the country. It's ridiculous.

525 So what does the Wisconsin recount accomplish? If you take those 10 electoral votes from Trump's 306 that drops him to 296, which is 26 more than he needs. Michigan has been certified and Pennsylvania's deadline for recount is passed. What am I missing?

526 PA recount update:

Court responded to Stein within the last 90 minutes with an order stating that the PA Republican electors must respond by 12/2 with a brief, followed by a hearing on 12/5. The order also stated that the matter must be resolved by 12/13.

No way a statewide recount gets done in 8 days. It's over.

Jill Stein is boxed into a corner. It is clear from this order that PA is over. She only received affidavits in 3% of the 9137 districts. The time for remcanvass of voting machines expired yesterday.

Her own Green Party disavowed her today. The Dems are furious to have to be dragged into this.

She is looking at a $3.5 million payment due in about 2 hours to WI, not knowing whether hand recounts will be allowed.

What will she do? Bail now, and potentially be sued for mail fraud? Continue, and drag everyone down to even worse depths?

Pass the popcorn. I for one want to see the donor lists.

It's like the Super Bowl, New Year's, and Thanksgiving all rolled into one!

Thanks for the update. I live in PA and have been confused by the twists and turns in this process.

...that the PA Republican electors must respond by 12/2 with a brief, followed by a hearing on 12/5.

If I were preparing the brief I would note that the man on whose opinion Stein is basing the recount - Alex Haldeman - has walked back his "hacked election" theory that was trotted out in the New York magazine article.

Don't worry, I'm sure they will, as well as get testimony from the SOS office that there was absolutely no evidence of hacking in the routine voting machine audits they have done so far.

Summary judgment likely on Monday is my guess, but you never know...

There has been a crescendo building among the non-Clintonistas in Donkworld: the recount is hideously damaging to the democrat brand, such as it is. I would guess that in my state Governor Wolf and his machine have put out the word to kibosh this recount.

After all, he is the one who demanded the resignation of the democrat AG when he realized she was a political liability. I guess we won't have to wait long to find out.

Again - thanks for your feedback on this issue.

I'll see you and raise you.

Just read in Madison newspaper that the actual estimate was $3.9M. The commission shorted the amount quoted to Stein by $400k. Regardless of the estimate, she's going to have pay the actual cost.

Hey Jill, in for a penny, in for pound. Right?

God is no respecter of persons. His offer of salvation extends to all who believe in his Son, Jesus Christ. Not just believed that he lived, but that is he is divine, that he died on the cross for us.

537 Buy the "soft white" not the "daylight".
Soft white is the warmer "orangish" light.
Daylight is operating room white.

Yeah, the soft white is rated around 2700K and the operating room light is marked at 5000K.

Also, since they only use (7-1W of power a number of them around the house should quickly show a positive difference on your electric bill. Walmart had four 2700K nondimmable 60W equivalents for $8US.

539 I don't think I've ever seen such a look of misery and dejection on the face of my daughter as I just did a moment ago. She just couldn't understand why the Democrats would undermine the efforts for a fair and honest election. "Even in Maidson?" she asked pitifully.

I sat down with her on the sofa and (as calmly as I could) tried to explain to her why the Democrats has rushed to victory and fraudulently tried to undermine the vote of every citizen, past and present. "And yes honey, even in Maidson", I was forced to say.

I tried to keep my voice steady, but it became increasingly difficult - the rage and feelings of helplessness were just too much. I think my daughter could tell something was wrong. I found myself at such a loss for words - nothing made any sense; nothing makes sense anymore. I finally had to admit, "Honey, I just don't know - I don't know what's going on in this country anymore..."

When I finished her lower lip started to tremble and her eyes began to fill with tears, "Daddy" she said, "why are the Democrats doing this to the country?" Well, that was it for me: I finally fell apart. She just fell into my arms and we both began sobbing for several minutes.

For once she had to comfort me and get me back on my feet. Sometimes I just think it's too much, but seeing the strength in my young daughter's voice helped me to get through.

Good luck with the recount, especially since a lot of it won't be done by hand.

541 The hypocrisy drives me crazy. Clinton called questioning the election "horrifying." The night of the third debate the pundits were outraged...Megyn Kelly, Dana Perino, Chris Stierwalt, and Juan Williams, to name a few were apoplectic at Trumps admission to wait and see about the results. Where is their horror expressed at Jill Stein and Hillary? Where is the outrage? Where is the screaming about constitutional crises? The pundits taped should be played And replayed to mark their hypocrisy and then they should be fired.
