Active Shooter at Ohio State: Eight Wounded, One Critically
Officials Say Situation Is Resolved; Shelter-in-Place Order Cancelled

Here's CNN's report; over FoxNews, they just reported a local newspaper is reporting the shooter is dead.

The Ohio State University tweeted out to students: "Run, Hide, and Fight," in that order of preference.

Update: A local CBS news station reports that someone drove a truck into the campus' Engineering Building and someone began stabbing people -- before the shooting. (It's unclear whether that "someone" was the same person as the driver or a passenger in the truck.)

If that's accurate, this would seem to be a planned terror attack.

Update: Apparently the shooter has been caught or killed, as officials have ended the shelter-in-place order. There is no word as of yet about the shooter, or the alleged stabbing that came before.

18 The sad fact is these events will continue as long as there are:

1. Mentally deranged people.
2. Weapons-free zones

As long as there are human beings, one can only mitigate #1 through intervention by health professionals, family, and friends. For #2 though, CCW would give civilians a chance to end the active shooter situation much faster than waiting for police. Signs won't stop a crazy person bent on harming others.

I was going to ask about that because my first response was hey that's good advice.

I've taken some self-defense classes and one of the major points stressed in all of them was that the skills were being taught to a. give me the knowledge to avoid being in a dangerous situation in the first place, b. to have the confidence that, God forbid, I was in a dangerous situation I may be able to survive and c. use the skills long enough to get in a position to flee the situation safely and call for help who could finish the fight better than I could.

Run, hide, fight pretty much sums that up. Leave if you can, hide to stay out of it but if you can't? Fight.

Every terror attack will be Trump's fault.

Also, there will be an "increase" in attacks under Trump because he won't mislabel these attacks as random self-radicalized mentally ill people who do not practice true Islam.

The one good thing? We won't be getting a lecture after each attack that the attacker(s) was not a true Muslim, Muslims-Americans are more patriotic than you, they helped found this country, and the biggest victims in all of this are - you guessed it! - Muslims, so let's all make them feel better.

Obviously you're not going to outrun a bullet, but if you're running in a non-straight line, you're going to be extremely hard to hit.

And even if you are hit, if you're running away, you'll be much less likely to get hit again. Your chance of being killed from gunshots increases as the square of number of times you're hit (ie if you're hit twice, you're four times likely to be killed, etc).

The point is, if you're unarmed, more than arms length away, and able to run away, that probably is your best strategy. If you're able to get to cover, do that.

No advice is without exception. "Run" is good, except for the situation noted above, or the dangers of being caught up in stampeded herd, in which case you are just as likely to be hurt or killed by your fellow fleers, and a mass target to boot.

Same with "hide." Not if you're in the room with him. That's "cowering."

107 Saw this:

Colleen Matthews, a freshman, witnessed a police officer mowed down by a speeding car and
then heard gunshots before she ran back to her dormitory.

"I was walking to class and I saw there were fire trucks and police
already there ... and I was seeing if they were letting people through,"
Miss Matthews, 18, said. "One student started through and then this car
did a [u-turn] and started heading toward this police officer [who] had
his back to [the car] and the car started picking up speed and he told
him to stop and he hit the police officer and he went flying into
another car and everyone started screaming."

Miss Matthews said the car then "barreled through" more people.

"I was just standing with the police officer and I didn't know what
do to," she said. "The police officer [said] 'is the driver still in the
car and we started to approach it and another one waived us off."

If so, mark it up as another victory for the false science of psychiatry.

It
started with Wikileaks of Podesta's emails. People with law enforcement
knowledge of the codes used by pedophiles noticed those code phrases
appeared several times in emails to and from Podesta. Tracing the ties
to the Podestas turned up a number of businesses in DC which used
pedophile iconography in their logos. Cheese Pizza >> CP >>
Child Porn is one of the pedophile code phrases. Searching the Podesta
links have turned up the interesting fact that the Podesta brothers look
just like the police sketches of two suspects in a famous European
child abduction case, and that the two of them were staying at the
mansion of a well known European pedophile three and a half miles away
from the abduction scene at the time it occurred.

Posted by: SH at November 28, 2016 11:38 AM (gmeXX)

Students receive training in the run hide fight theory when they go through orientation freshman year now.
They are taught that as soon as an alert goes out, they are to do everything they can to avoid the area. If they are in the area at that moment, they are taught to go into rooms, closets, etc. and lock and barricade doors, and stay away from windows. If they are unfortunate enough to be caught in the same location as the shooter, they are taught to do anything and everything to fight. Don't just sit there and wait to get shot. Go after the shooter at the first possible moment, using any means available and do whatever it takes to neutralize him.

It's as good as you are going to get. Even if CCW was permitted on campus, many students wouldn't do so, and at least need some kind of training to defend themselves. They don't have to choose to be sheep just because they don't want to be sheepdogs.

As long as we're on this topic, is it true that Andrew Breitbart had some tweets where he accused Podesta of being a pedophile before he died?

Our side has fever swamps as well, but wanted to see if there was any truth to that? I saw some tweets from 2011 where he says that, but those easily could have been doctored.

Those are real tweets. Pizzagate is real. Never cleaned house from the Franklin Cover-Up to the young Page program in Congress, and now the Hollywood and DC cultural Marxists are trying to normalize pedophilia. Simple search will land you articles written about Pedophiles need to be cured and not jailed and other shit. The original James Okeef and Hannah Giles on tapes it's said and implied that he wants to pump underage girls and the DNC group gave him cover.

Andrew Breibart knew where all the bodies were buried. pizzagate is real. Old Testament Evil and rituals are real and right here in America.

Dry powder fire extinguishers are a much overlooked weapon. Besides blinding him and making it extremely hard to breathe, business sized are heave enough and the bottom edges are sharp enough to make a formidable weapon.

Situation. My take in a carry-free environment:

You're ten feet from a guy with an AK? You can probably get to him faster than you can run, your options are as they say limited.

You're 30 feet away? You're probably not gonna get there. Run, hide, whatever's appropriate. Try to get others to do likewise.

If, however, your BFF/girlfriend/boyfriend/fiance(e) is ten feet away from the shooter you do it anyway, just because that's what's required in a civilized culture. His/her family better be at your funeral.

You're above him on a balcony full of chairs? You will never in your life have a better opportunity to be a hero.

Suspension for at least a semester. And a gun charge for carrying in a known non carry location.
It's why the NRA and other groups keep fighting to change the laws.

Last year a Michigan State football player was being challenged by someone in a road rage incident at night on the very edge of MSU's campus. I know the road he was on, it's actually almost rural. He had a carry permit as an adult, but did something stupid and brandished the gun (showed it to whoever was driving alongside him).
Formal complaint was filed to police and he was suspended from campus, and was off the team. Even though it was his word against the complaintant, the fact that he had a gun on campus(that he legally owned) got him off the football team, lost his scholarship, and was out of the university for a semester.

Two mini buses arrived with police to force him to allow them in. He would not give keys to rooms to the animals in plaid flannel shirts. Oh, the press blurred out the animal's faces but allowed the elderly Italian hotel owner's face and name to be published.

So sad. Like Nazi take-over all over again for this poor man. Italy has been told to turn over second homes to the sweet refugees for cultural enrichment. I'd tell them to bite moi.

---
We're talking past each other. I'm objecting to the unAmerican notion that it's best to sit around and wait for the government to fix a problem. I'm talking about the period of time *before* police show up, which is when most of the people who are going to be killed by a shooter get shot.

I would agree that once there are police on scene, the best plan of action is to get unarmed (or not displayed) and on the other side of them from the activity as quickly as they are comfortable with. And if you are carrying concealed or as I suggested dropped your gun upon their arrival, that you get that information to them when it's convenient to them.

And the Gellar art thing was about the guys who tried to shoot up the show, not the show itself, which I had hoped would be clear from context.

Rule #96 is to wash your feets prior to the fatwa.

513 O/T but in a sidebar article at Daily Mail they
refer to Naomi Campbell as "Original Supermodel." How many original
supermodels were there, because I have heard that phrase used to
describe many women.

Eveyln Nesbit would like a word with them.

516 @504...I guess if Hilz the Haggard Harridan does her own make up she ends up looking like Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" scary vs Hilz sans make-up scary.

The recent photos also capture her wonky eyes along with other hideous features.

518 Well, Ben Roethlisberger - if that is your real name - it is not a
matter of rights at that point. Police ARE empowered to use more force,
by law.

You think laws > Rights?

Interesting.

519 Why do people say "it's too soon to speculate"?

If you wait until all the facts come in, it is no longer speculating, it's reporting.

In my opinion, it's never too soon to speculate.

520 Run, hide, fight.

At my kids' high school a couple of years ago, their teacher told them the official rule was shelter in place. He said in a real situation, he wanted them out the windows and running like hell through the woods to the office next door, "Security has guns there."

At my kid's technical college last year, the professor said the rule was no guns on campus. She said that in a real situation, she was counting on anyone carrying anyway to protect them.

Both the teacher and professor were serious liberals/hippies. They just happen to care more about their students' lives than about peace, love, and understanding.

Woman researching the Clinton ties to human trafficking in Haiti is one who was killed. Don't know the other.

533 The perp ran his car into the Engineering building, and hit a chlorine bottle, releasing chlorine gas.

These were the 8 people that were hospitalized initially.

Then there was the case of stabbing or running someone over.

Then the police shot the perp/driver dead.

End of story.

Columbus has a large Somali ex-pat community, that dates from Before Obama (BO).

534 The reasonable inference at this point is that the gunshots heard were from the police. As always about half of what is reported turns out to be wrong.
