Lefties Are Unhappy That Rightwingers Communicate On Social Media; Plan To Squelch It

They're mad that we're allowed to talk. At all.

Twitter will be enhancing their 'mute' function and will make it easier not only for people to live in an exclusive bubble of pre-approved sentiments, but also to report others for abuse and hate speech.

Yes, yes, there are real trollish and racist abusers out there on Twitter. With their mean, hurtful words.

But in your heart, you know the intent is to muzzle you, you conservative swine. After all, who is more likely to report your political views as "hateful conduct" than the SJW neo-Victorian purity brigades? Nobody, that's who.

An aside: What really puzzles me about that story at the link is the reference to voter suppression on Twitter. How does that work, exactly? Since deleting my account, have I missed out on an opportunity to be oppressed?

Furthermore, Google and Facebook are implementing measures to yoink ads off of sites that contain content which they refer to as "fake news," thereby depriving those sites of income.

Lots of people think that the internet is full of 'fake news' and has too much influence over what other people can read and communicate to each other. This realization seems to have come to them rather suddenly, as a bolt from the blue, just in the last week.

Facebook's decision to clarify its ad policy language is notable because Mark Zuckerberg, the social network's chief executive, has repeatedly fobbed off criticism that the company had an effect on how people voted. In a post on his Facebook page over the weekend, he said that 99 percent of what people see on the site is authentic, and only a tiny amount is fake news and hoaxes.

"Over all, this makes it extremely unlikely hoaxes changed the outcome of this election in one direction or the other," Mr. Zuckerberg wrote.

Yet within Facebook, employees and executives have been increasingly questioning their responsibilities and role in influencing the electorate, The New York Times reported on Saturday.

My emphasis. The trouble with freedom, as always, is that people use it.

Fake news, eh? If you follow the links in the article, all the 'fake news' they refer to cuts against Hillary/ the left. There is no reference made or any concern about dodgy internet content that cuts against the Right.

But then for that, the NYT would have to cite itself and the rest of the DNC media apparatus. And we know that's not happening.

11 Trump won with very few ads.

Therefore he did not need to raise money for those ads (setting aside his personal wealth).

Therefore he does not owe anyone favors right now.

This is a position many folks are not used to. A person winning presidency and not having to kowtow to anyone except those that voted him in.

Morning in America indeed.

Ehh, not so much.

The right has adopted it because they say they are for free expression. And they opened after Twitter started cracking down on the right.

But I say this: Twitter started out as a free speech haven, and conservatives used to love it. #TCOT and all that.

There are alternatives coming into play. Certainly if these two companies continue to censor (which they have a right to do - their toys, their rules), a vacuum is created. And nature abhors a vacuum. And an Entrepreneur is out there somewhere that will fill that void.

40 Twitter is a mess, as well as maybe not being financially viable, so while Twitter is taking direct aim at speech it doesn't like, Facebook and Google are the real threats to speech, IMO.

Facebook is kind of a weird institution, with a strong culture and lawyers enforcing it internally. Employees sign highly restrictive employment agreements with non-disparagement clauses and even if the agreements are ultimately non-enforceable the prospect of a legal battle with pockets that deep has to scare anyone.

The point is Facebook might have a diversity of thought even inside itself, and probably does, but externally they are enforcing whatever ethic Zuckerberg decides on. Google, from the outside looking in, is just plain weird and controlling. At least Google might give us flying cars some day (or Sergey Brin might), though.

I think liberals had a monopoly on using Social Media in the 2006-2012 elections to help their candidates and causes and now that's not the case anymore. Conservatives are now using it as well to pushback.

Personally, I'd like to see a whole lot less of social media but it is a "thing" we're going to have to use for the foreseeable future to engage certain voters.

I think it's pretty obvious Hillary thought she was going to win and Trump thought he was going to lose.

I don't really buy into the whole "a few smart people at the top in both campaigns were certain this result was going to happen"

As much as I love our victory, it looks exagerrated because of the Electoral College. A bad gaffe or video from Trump in the final days could have easily handed it to Hillary.

Nobody really knew what was going to happen.

Those blue collars in WI (not that all of the people at the party were blue collar) and MI and PA don't give a shit about Twitter or who is trending on Google. There are two types of LIVs today. There is the classic LIV...the person who can barely name the current VP or who thinks Brian Williams is a pillar of the community.
And there is the modern version. The Low-Socialmediainfo-voter. As shocking as it is to some, there are a lot of people that don't engage in any social media. And if they do, it is not to decide their world views, but to...get this...socialize with their friends.
This kind of LSMIV doesn't give a crap about Alt-Right, or Twitter bans, or Facebook "news" feeds. They live in the real world. And the real world under the latest brigade of SJWs running the country into the ground has gotten weird and crappy.

226 The difference btwn McCain and GWB and Romney and Trump is that Trump truly loathes the media and only uses them to his advantage. Dumbass McCain really thought the media were his friends and GWB used to give out cute little nicknames to members of he press. They believed in this foolish idea that they could have a cordial, professional relationship with them. The media loved the ratings he was pulling and couldn't not cover him only to watch him mock and ridicule them at his rallies. That was really effective at marginalizing them and their influence.

Last night he went out to dinner with his family and didn't tell his press pool. They found out about by reading where he was on Twitter. They all ran over to the restaurant and weren't allowed in. Trump only let local media inside and the other reporters were forced to stand outside by the dumpster where they tweeted how poorly they were being treated . Hahahaha. The first question some reporter that got inside was "Mr President Elect, why didn't you tell the press pool that you were going out and leave us behind ?" That story is at gateway.

Breitbart's Pollak, Defending Bannon, Calls Out NPR's 'Racist Programming'

Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and In-House Counsel Joel B. Pollak appeared Wednesday morning on National Public Radio's Morning Edition with Steve Inskeep, and defended the company's Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, while calling out NPR's "racist programming."

Bannon was recently named Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor by President-elect Donald Trump.

Presented with selective quotes from Breitbart articles and Bannon's past statements, Pollak challenged Inskeep to defend NPR's taxpayer-funded racial programming, including Code Switch, a series that focuses obsessively on race, and which called the results of the 2016 election "nostalgia for a whiter America."

True, ironic, and funny. Pre-election, the idea of Trump as President was laughed at because he was nothing but a celebrity. He was only in it for the press coverage and building his "brand".
Now he is a totalitarian that will destroy the media.

He has played these coastal bubble journo jackasses like a master. I still can't get enough of the video of Obama and Seth Myers roasting him and laughing at him...and Trump just sitting there stoically.
It reminds me of DeNiro at the bar in Goodfellas, dragging on his cigarette as he is ticking through the list of people laughing and joking around him that he is going to whack.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A woman live-streamed herself harassing police

In the video, the woman later identified as Melyssa Jo Kelly is
standing in Brewhemia cafe and mentions the black band around the
officer's badge. A black band around a badge signifies mourning for
officers who have lost a fellow officer in the line of duty.

However, most of us dismiss these leftists as annoying idiots. I wish them no harm other than for them not to be shielded from the consequences of their beliefs and actions.

On the other hand, they loathe us. Many of them would literally dance on our graves if given the opportunity. So they assume the same of us. No wonder they're acting so scared.
