44 Trump needs to take this opportunity to cut off all federal funding for everything to states that don't comply with the new rules.

Say that states can run elections any way they deem fit, except for federal elections.

Federal elections are to be conducted on election day - no early voting. Federal elections have an I.D. standard and all voting (with very few exceptions for severe physical disabilities) is in person. No mail in voting.

Also, federal election authorities have the ability to cross reference voter rolls from one state to another.

All by executive order.

50 From the previous post:

"But the Money Guys wanted unlimited inflows of Replacement Workers, so they cooked up a story that only with Amnesty could we win an election, and sold it to their voters over and over again.
Wrong.
This was never about counting votes. It was always about counting donor dollars."

I think the /Path to legalization/amnesty was per the autopsy primarily considered to be the way to get Hispanic votes (coincidentally satisfy the Chamber of Commerce et al) but I could see someone in Ryan's position making a good faith effort with it.

The autopsy was wrong, the path to victory has been proven to be a hardline on border security and illegal immigration and perhaps Ryan is fine with that. I don't see any reason to assume that he won't appreciate the budget benefits of deporting the worst and not covering their education (I know), medical care and foodstamps.

Maybe give him the benefit of the doubt. It's not like Trump can shitcan him anyway.

Next statistical whatif:

Take that number as a given (200K votes down due to voter ID in WI.)

Scale it by population across all the states that do not have voter ID. Maybe adjust a little bit for the prospect of greater ID in larger cities

Then figure out how many more statehouses the Democrats would lose if voter ID were applied nationally across state and Federal elections.

Amir Ganor of the Israel Antiquities Authority says a government research team will spend the next three years surveying hundreds of desert caves near the Dead Sea, where the world's oldest biblical manuscripts were discovered in 1947. The collection is considered the crown jewel of Israeli antiquities.

The official says the expedition will begin in December.

It will be the first large-scale archaeological survey of the area in more than 20 years. Looters have discovered ancient manuscripts in the area in recent years, prompting the government initiative.

I would be shocked if there wasn't at least some fraud for Trump. I mean, Republicans aren't saints, and at least some might have cheated for him. But the vast, overwhelming majority discovered is for Democrats, and who knows how much we haven't seen or don't know about?

By all means, let's clean up voter rolls. There are millions of illegal aliens, dead people, ineligible felons, people registered and voting simultaneously in more than one state, etc., on those rolls.

Next statistical whatif:

Take that number as a given (200K votes down due to voter ID in WI.)

Scale it by population across all the states that do not have voter
ID. Maybe adjust a little bit for the prospect of greater ID in larger
cities

Then figure out how many more statehouses the Democrats would lose
if voter ID were applied nationally across state and Federal elections.

Ask and you shall receive. This was very rough and dirty, but gives an idea of fraud across states using 200k WI as a guide.

(I'm going to place the results in a separate post, because when I quote someone it usually messes up the formatting.)

142 AFAIK, Colorado has no actual way to vote in-person on election day. Voting here is by mail, and the ballots go out about three weeks before the deadline.

The "mail" thing is made easy, in that the ballot return does not require postage. They place ballot boxes around so that drop-off is in or on the edge of your neighborhood.

Furthermore, GOTV is done by people at your door offering to "help" you fill out your ballot.

We registered as voters when moving here two years ago, doing so at the same time we exchanged our driver licenses from another state for Colorado driver licenses.

I experience a lot of twenty-something Spanish-language brown skinned people, with little to no English, making me think the state is loaded with illegals. And they are driving.

Would not surprise me if a half million votes were cast here in Colorado by illegals.

153 @93 there are cities here in SoCal that have more votes than the census says they have citizens.
---------------------

I live in LA County. The person who lived in my apartment before me kept getting voter information packets and jury summonses. I also got asked about her name more than once down at the voting place (iirc, each time they were checking for me by address, and found her name first).

The stuff *finally* stopped showing up a couple of years ago. I'm guessing that one of the jury summons envelopes that I sent back with "No Such Resident" finally prompted some action.

The annoying thing is, at no point was there anything that *I* could do about it. If I could have contacted someone to get her yanked off the lists (after proving that I lived at the address, of course), then I would have done so just to get the jury summons to stop appearing. But there was no way for me to do that.

180 Given that they've gone Full Retard, expect the Dims to dig industriously for the piddling amount of vote fraud that the Republicans may have done, surface with that and bay for our blood; and then put a savage stop to revelations of any of the vast vote fraud THEY have committed.

IOW, they will run this the same way they're lying their asses off about the "assaults": 99.9999999999% of them are Leftists attacking Americans, but the .000000000001% that are wingnuts attacking Leftists are ALL that they "report."

See how easy?

They wouldn't even broach the subject if they weren't planning to handle it like a Soviet agitprop campaign, which is how they're handling everything now.

194 The Michigan Secretary of State's website shows the vote total there as Trump: 2,277,914 (47.60%), and Clinton: 2,264,807 (47.33%). That is with all 83 counties having reported.

Statewide elections decided by less than 2,000 votes trigger an automatic recount under Michigan law.

A candidate can request a recount, even if the margin was more than 2,000 votes, if the candidate believes there may have been fraud or error in the original vote counting.

So Trump's margin of victory (@12,000 votes) is large enough that it doesn't trigger an automatic recount, but Clinton can still request a recount if she wants one.

Many celebrities seem to want to pack up and head for Australia. Do they require that Australians of any race are legally required to vote, and ID is checked, and they're fined $50 if they don't?

317 Debate Moderator Gwen Ifill

Career

o Attended Simmons College, a Boston women's college. Graduated in 1977

o Hired as an intern at The Boston Herald. Has said about her internship, "They didn't know what a college-educated black woman was and they didn't know how to treat me."

o One day, a Herald staffer left her a note in the photo lab that said "N--r go home." The paper's editors were so apologetic that they offered Ifill a job.

http://content.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1846354,00.html

The article didn't say if anyone ever identified who wrote that note. Or, if say, it could have been Ifill herself who wrote it.

I said months ago here and elsewhere Trump was chasing more states at thinner margins.

The GOP history is to go for big margins in safe places. Trump went for retail-store margins everywhere.

He got more of them than he lost.

Now, fix immigration, clean the voter rolls, coerce states into ID, and we'll see if the Democrats gain or lose next time.

Median Dem loss from those measures would be 2% IMO, with some states closer to 3%.

321 I'll say something nice about the late Gwen Ifill.

Despite that she was deep in the tank for Barky, for reasons that I won't get into (because, saying something nice), and despite that she should have recused herself as a result: she did moderate a fair debate in 2008.

Also she didn't make a huge to-do about herself after her stupid hagiography of Barky came out. At least, I don't remember hearing anything notable. By contrast with, say, MeAgain or Yglesias or Dowd or pretty much all the other Media Celebrities.

This might be backhanded praise but it's the best I can come up with. Um. At least she didn't drive a getaway car from a murder attempt?

323 Numbers in Texas were low because there were so few contested elections - no statewide contested offices except for Railroad Commissioner (oil and gas regulation, the name is a long story) which the Republican won easily. And some judgeships which weren't in doubt. In my county, the only local race with more than one candidate on the ballot was for Sheriff- everything else was decided in the primaries. I live in Louie Gohmert's district - he's supposed to be so conservative, but I never saw Louie lift a finger to get out any votes for Trump.

Long story short, nobody on the GOP side locally was spending any money or making any Turn out the Vote efforts at all, because they didn't need to. Plus, you had Cruz's frosty relationship with Trump, so a lot of Cruz fans stayed home and decided to see if Trump could do it on his own. Plus, whatever else Trump is, he's still a Yankee, and nobody born in Texas really ever warms up to that.

Meanwhile, Hillary's supporters were flogging the black and hispanic communities for all the votes they could get.

So, given those circumstances, I think Trump's 53% - 43% win looks pretty solid, since that's the number that Trump basically got all on his own, with no help from anybody else here.

363 Numbers in Texas were low because there were so few contested elections - no statewide contested offices

...

Plus, you had Cruz's frosty relationship with Trump, so a lot of Cruz fans stayed home and decided to see if Trump could do it on his own. Plus, whatever else Trump is, he's still a Yankee, and nobody born in Texas really ever warms up to that.

________________

Here's my comments regarding Texas numbers. Agree or disagree.

First, I agree, there were no big elections - no senatorial elections, and it was a foregone conclusion that Trump would win. So nothing big driving out Texas voters.

Second, Trump is less popular here than in other states. His message doesn't resonate as much as it does in other states for a few reasons. Immigration isn't as big an issue here as one would think being a border state. That may be because the Texas economy is doing well but it is also just part of the history. The economy also had an effect on Trump's message not resonating as well. A lot of manufacturing jobs that left the midwest, relocated to Texas. Texas benefitted from NAFTA. Texas has seen the direct benefits of more trade. So all in all, his primary message didn't play as well here as it did in midwest.

So I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers being down.
