Roll Call: The Real Bubble Is Rural America, For Not Understanding the Many Challenged Faced By Hipsters in Brooklyn

The hotness of this #HotTake rivals that of the Fires of Creation.

I'm from the rural midwest. I now live in Washington, D.C. All of this talk about coastal elites needing to understand more of America has it backwards.

My home county in Ohio is 97 percent white. It, like a lot of other very unrepresentative counties, went heavily to Donald Trump.

...

In many of these areas the only Muslims you see are in movies like American Sniper (I knew zero Muslims before going to college in another state). You never see gay couples or even interracial ones. Much of rural and exurban American is a time capsule to America's past.

And on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 they dug it up.

The first gay person I knew personally was my college roommate -- a great man that made me a better person. But that's an experience I would have never had if I didn’t go to college and instead decided to live the rest of my life in my hometown.

That was when I realized that not supporting gay marriage meant to actively deny rights to someone I knew personally. I wouldn't be denying marriage rights to other people; I would be denying marriage rights to Dave. I would have to look Dave in the eye and say, "Dave, you deserve less rights than me. You deserve a lesser human experience."

...

I have some extended family in rural New Jersey. Some of them had never been to D.C. before visiting me. They had never made the two hour and fifteen minute drive to see the Constitution in person. They had not seen the Apollo moon lander, nor George Washington's Revolutionary War uniform.

And they certainly have not seen the new African American Museum. They've never seen the extent of American greatness or its messiness.

And you know what they certainly wound not have seen at the new African American Museum? Supreme Court Justice Thomas.

To pin this election on the coastal elite is a cop out. It’s intellectually dishonest, and it’s beneath us.

We, as a culture, have to stop infantilizing and deifying rural and white working class Americans. Their experience is not more of a real American experience than anyone else's, but when we say that it is, we give people a pass from seeing and understanding more of their country. More Americans need to see more of the United States. They need to shake a Muslim's hand, or talk soccer with a middle age lesbian, or attend a lecture by a female business executive.

We must start asking all Americans to be their better selves. We must all understand that America is a melting pot and that none of us has a more authentic American experience.

This #HotTake grabbed my brain by the pussy and made it all swollen with knowledge.

By the way, this pencil-neck Mouse-clicker is the "director of User Experience" at Roll Call.

32 Most leftites haven't seen George Washington's uniform or the Constitution or any of the rest either, unless for the opportunity of lording a social point over their friends. The contention that the typical urbanite has actually experienced culture and history is nothing more than total horseshit.

75 I made this exact same point last year after the NYT ran an article about the death of religion in the US. While there may be a dwindling religious presence in New York City, Boston, Chicago, etc., there most assuredly is not in rural America. Here in Kentucky they have taken over abandoned malls and made them into Churches because of the increasing number of parishioners.

The NYT and others never leave their City and that blinds them to the realities of the rest of America.

He is buried in labels - if you don't have queer, interracial, hajib'd friends, you're wrong. You must not understand much if you can't complete his diversity bingo.

Diversity isn't labels. If you make it labels, you're the -ist. He doesn't want a melting pot. Fanatical multiculturalism is the opposite of a melting pot because there is no integration, only a victimhood pecking order.

While rural areas went for Trump, very few (if any of any size) went 93% for Trump. If we admit that diversity isn't a shopping list, it's living among concepts that do not all agree with your preconceptions, there is in fact more diversity at the places that went 60% or 70% for Trump than there is in DC.

Coastal elites accuse the inland of being in an involuntary bubble based on skin, but this is an incidental and far less damning sin than intentionally placing yourself in an ideological bubble by joining a partisan wannabe technocracy.

190 The asshole's entire thesis is the very one that has been thoroughly and roundly DISPROVEN after DECADES of social experiments to FORCE it on everyone!

The theory is a remnant of 1940s/'50s "social scientists" who ASSUMED with ANY PROOF that "bigotry" is solely the result of "unfamiliarity," and that "segregation" LEADS TO "racism."

See this quote from his thesis:

"More Americans need to see more of the United States. They need to shake a Muslim's hand, or talk soccer with a middle age lesbian, or attend a lecture by a female business executive."

Dude, starting with the Truman administration this theory has been imposed on America with ever-increasing intensity, and it UTTERLY FAILED.

In fact, the OPPOSITE was proven true: Familiarity often leads to bigotry, and isolation and insulation is what leads to a romanticization of the "noble savage."

Lily-white liberals in white areas of New England and the Northwest are the MOST LEFT-WING parts of America because they have insulated themselves from the "others" whom they romanticize from a distance.

In England for example, native Brits whose cities are now majority Muslim, filled with mosques, burkas and "sharia patrols," are the ones joining the English Defense League and voting for Brexit. And yet they are the ones MOST "familiar" with the "other."

You see, filing through the line in the great central hall of the National Archives, and looking at some parchment under glass - THAT is what the American constitutional order, ordered liberty under rule of law with limited govt. and the individual as the center of the universe - THAT'S what it's all about.

The Beltway (mindset, not just geography) doesn't need to be "infantilized" - that's precisely what it is already. And it, not flyover America, is the one deified (hell, even considered respectable is to vastly over-state its merit).

But this kind of ignorance and infantile moral narcissism ("wow! I shook a Muslim's hand! I have gay friends! It's like, I dunno, I was hiding Jews from the Gestapo in Dusseldorf in 1942!!! Look at me!!") are what we're up against. It rules the pop culture, the coasts, the urban areas.

It's what we mean when we talked about a "dumbed down" society.

195 One read on this election is that rural America won. So my suggestion to the coastal elite who wrote this article is can you please stfu and stop telling us what we need to do for five minutes? We'll let you know when we need your advice on how to run the country.

The idea that there aren't gay people, or muslims, or blacks in rural America is ignorant. Let me rephrase the author's observations: "Once I moved to the city, my family bonds and social mores passed down to me for generations became quickly meaningless compared to making my new friends happy and I almost immediately told my kin to eat a dick and suck on some hastily-conceived and implemented policies to which they HIGHLY OBJECT. And now they're mad for some reason, probably racism and homophobia. They really need to get out more."

What's the deal with Drew? I don't get him anyway. He was - entertainingly and intelligently - ruthless in his excoriation of GOPe perfidy, cowardice, and hazard. Woulda thunk he'd be practical enough to revel in the primary results (two runaway leaders were anti-establishment).

276 You know that if Bill had influence in Hillary's campaign he would have made some effort at getting at least some of the Bubba vote instead of antagonizing them.

283 We've committed a great sin in this country. A sin so great, it will be felt for multiple generations, even possibly every generation to come unless it's checked. You're seeing it front and center in every article today.

Our sin is not stopping this cancer that is socialism before it spread like wildfire through the very institutions that used to create our grade A stock of Americans. No longer are we churning out patriotic boys and girls. No longer do we produce people willing to work hard and make everything better for everyone, regardless of race or gender.

We now produce easily offended, perpetually stupid, useful idiots by the thousands and there will be thousands more each day we let this continue. Our children are being brainwashed and turned into an army of idiots willing to follow any marching order that comes from the puppet masters of the socialist, globalist order.

Until we end this cancer that invades our educational institutions, we will never be able to produce the generations that American needs to continue in any form resembling what it was founded on. We have to purge the school houses of the communist and socialist educators. We must purge the organizations that influence those teachers as well. Start with the DOE and move downward.

You cannot turn off socialism and this infection of idiots protesting Trump's election. Like Kind Edward said in Braveheart, if we can't get them out, we must breed them out. Frankly, that's the only way this stops, short of a shooting war, part two. But we cannot breed children just for them to be indoctrinated and used against America like their predecessors.

This nonsense only ends when we address the cancer. Laughing at them, mocking them as children and fighting twitter wars will not make this go away.

286 Good gawd! There isn't such a thing as a rural America that knows nothing of the urban experience.

There are simultaneous trends towards both fragmentation and homogenaiety. Gone are the days when there were only three channels on the TV- now, there are thousands, and you don't even need a TV. On the other hand, everyplace has a McDonald's and a Subway, and they're basically all the same. Every city's mall is different, but they have many of the same stores that sell the same things.

So the divide between rural and urban or elite and non-elite or whatever you call it is really kind of fascinating.

Also, fuck them, Trump won.

Crying about racism, social justice... it's just a path to another loss... because those people this idiot describes as people whose American experience less than his - are worried about things far closer to home, like a job, money, surviving.

290 As far as "shaking a Muslim's hand" goes, saw a Islamic female in head-to-toe covering inside a local grocery store (Edmond, OK). I guess we're all supposed to pretend that's ok, but it really bothered me enough that I almost said something. Either her husband believed her to be chattel rather than an actual human being, or *she* believed the rest of us to be infidels worthy of servitude.

291 "never talked soccer with a middle aged lesbian"

I have a cousin who actually is a middle aged lesbian. She's one of my favorite people chat with because she is hilarious. We have never ever talked about soccer. She was an awesome high school athlete. She served in the Navy, works in her family welding business, and can say more just rolling her eyes than most people can with four paragraphs.
She and her partner adopted a young girl who was so severely abused that she was mentally and emotionally damaged in horrifying ways. She was good for the kid.
But I guess that means nothing since we have never discussed soccer.

371 You see, to leftists especially those who don't live there. Middle and or rural America isn't the real America. It's only our large cities made up of different ethnic types of folks and people from all walks of life. It's rural America's fault that not many minorities live there. What with all the blatant and obvious racism of white America, you know, like you see portrayed in the media and Hollywood. The funny part is that I've lived in both rural and big cities. Rural America from my experiences is far more inclusive of people that are different. I know that's sacrilege to liberal orthodoxy.

By January they'll have a coherent attack strategy and more dangerous. The Hillary team is working hard at pushing "Trump is awful" on the news to blot out news on her lawbreaking, corruption, and incompetence at state from getting through, for example.

408 OK, I read this and it wasn't as bad as made out. The guy is from Ohio but he's assigning 'white' conditions in Ohio to the entire country. And he IS assuming we all hate muslims because (he thinks) we don't know any. Those are his mistakes. Rural Ohio is kind of white bread, as are other parts of the country, including liberal enclaves!

But lots and lots of "flyover" country is a mixed bag and we kind of get along, not that the MSM or Roll Call would notice. In Texas we produce a shit load of meat goats that are trucked weekly to PA and NY and FL and those goats feed ethnic markets that like goat meat -- many are muslims, some are cubans, jamaicans, etc. We don't hate them, good gosh. We just don't like the ones that try to impose sharia or that try to kill people drawing mohammed cartoons.

In rural Texas we white devils live next to mexican americans and they're our friends. Often we both agree that illegal immigration is out of hand. Sometimes we don't. I know a lot of hispanic americans who voted Trump, mainly because they were clear that Hillary was a crook.

In my part of rural Texas I know a lot of gay folks, both man gay and lesbian gay and have relatives that are. I get along with them fine. But they're not in my face with it for the most part. Live and let live.

"Oh I see. You only talk to black people about sports and music because you think that's all we know about. Do you EVER talk about anything ELSE with black people?"

Blah, blah, blah.

The thing that made me roll my eyes is that the ABSJW never even considered that the PBWG only talked sports and music with black people because the PBWG was such an obviously shallow doofus that those two subjects were the ONLY subjects he could hold a conversation on with anyone, regardless of their race.

When I lived in Baldwin County, Alabama, probably half the kids I'd see aged 5 and under were obviously some kind of racial mix. Interracial relationships clearly were not uncommon there.

Additionally, while I've been on four continents and went to what is considered an elite college, nothing broadened my horizons as much as five years as an enlisted Marine, where I lived and worked with anyone and everyone - farmboys from Kansas, Dominicans from the Bronx, black kids from the ghettos of DC and Chicago, California surfers, coonasses from Louisiana, a cowboy from Wyoming, Mexicans from Texas, Haitians from Miami, a Navajo from New Mexico, and immigrants from all over - Jamaica, Poland, South Korea, Honduras, China, and others. So forgive me if I snort when some snot-nosed punk kid sniffs about how cosmopolitan he is because he had a gay roommate one year and moved to (an undoubtedly fancy and very white neighborhood in) DC.

491 About the girl masturbating to orgasm in high school history class -- this actually happened to me:

When I was in Sixth Grade, 12 years old, we had our first "sex education" class, and one day the teacher made us all arrange our desks in a circle to have basically a Group Therapy session, in which we could ask her anything about sex we wanted to - -anything. Because education is important and kids have a lot of misapprehensions. Don't be embarrassed.

First girl, who is black and pretty well-developed for a 12-year-old, raises her hand, and asks:

"Can you get pregnant if he comes on your panties?"

The teacher was momentarily stunned and speechless, so the girl continued:

"I mean, I was jacking him off and he said he wanted to put it in and I said no and he was trying anyway and I still had my panties on and he was rubbing it up against my pussy lips and he came anyway but it never went inside. Does that get me pregnant?"

I don't even remember what our Sex Education teacher replied, I was too stunned. I mean, I hadn't even hit puberty yet, and this girl was in my class (in sixth grade we still all had one class all day, same teacher, same students, except for special things like gym and sex education). I had NO IDEA my classmates were already doing that stuff. That was the real education -- the question itself, not the answer.

520 What about Michigan? Michigan has one of the highest Muslim populations among states. It went to Trump for the first time that I can remember.
Posted by: Insanity

Hammtrack, Dearborn. Full of them thar Muslims.

I live in suburban Columbus, and there is a big Somali community here in Columbus. Not quite as big as Minneapolis-St. Paul, but about 30K. There is all kinds of weird people in my neighborhood (like the nice, quiet Chinese couple next door, and that weird fucker Kasich who lives the next street over).

I went to college with this goofy little guy from Iran, (in the -70's) and he was always going on about how bad the Shah was (this was before he was deposed). I also had a grad student teaching a lab, who was from Pakistan (Muslim, you bet!), and he was always being rude to the women folk. I started giving him shit one time for that, and he backed down right away.

Yes Virginia, we dumb rubes in Ohio have actually met people from other lands. And zounds! I have a passport and have been on an airplane and other incredible stuff.

549 I still don't understand the hoopla about gay marriage.

On the state end, if two people want to spend your lives together, no one is stopping you. By all means, amend HIPPA (government intrusion in your "rights", not a bunch of Luddite midwesterners) so all the hospital visitation, death, etc. issues become non issues. Tax benefits? Again, look to the government for your oppression, not homophobic boogiemen... people... whatever.

On the religious side, hell... a friend got excommunicated for marrying a Wiccan. Lots of churches won't allow divorced people to marry again. It's a religious issue. Don't like it? Find a new religion or go complain to the pope or someone. This is not a political or "rights" issue.

Feeling excluded? Stop showing up to work/ social functions wearing sequins and feather boas and shouting about how much you love cock in your ass/ mouth. If I showed up to work and started ranting about my rights and enjoyment of grabbing pussy... you'd be the first asshole demanding that I get fired for workplace harassment. No one cares what you do in your bedroom or who you do it with. No one wants to hear about it. That applies to everyone. You are not being singled out or exploited. You're being asked to behave in a way that all other adults are expected to.

Move past that stupidity and you're left with a word. If two or more people want to call themselves "married" or a "couple or "gooniegoogoo" why does anyone care? Both sides need to get off their high horse on this shit. It's a fucking word. If you speak a different language, you already call it something different.

My guess is he was hoping Trump would be a bombastic jackwagon like his campaign persona, and then he'd look like a noble hero and Trump a loser. But it didn't work, it just made Trump seem presidential and respectable.

But maybe I'm being unfair and Obama just was being a good guy. Has to happen once in a while, right?

The middle-aged ones are such sad little pieces of easily formed clay that they inquire excitedly about the "diversity" of a nephew's college dorm.

These are people whose own college dorms were nearly as "diverse" (in the meaningless sense of race) as the nephew's are today. Back then nobody gave it a thought, and the word diversity hadn't been hijacked and rendered useless.

630 So, he's basing his assumptions about an entire population of voters on his own limited experiences?
The real question is how he got through college at all with that shallow an intellect.
I live in a lovely middle class suburb in Michigan. I have many neighbors who are African American, and even more who are immigrants, Hispanic, Asian, African, and mid Eastern.

And oh, yes. No rioting after the election. Because everyone in this neighborhood works hard to live the American dream, with a nice house, a nice yard, a couple cars, and a good school district.
Try telling the guy from Nigeria, who's living in a house in a suburb of middle America, that he's oppressed.

These people are completely different from the snotty, upper middle class, white brats who are whining and blubbering because they ran a corrupt career politician for president and she lost. Oh, by the way, look at the photos from Clinton's election night rally. They're overwhelmingly white.

632 I've lived all over this country from the west coast, to the south, to even right outside D.C. I grew up in a multi-cultural, suburban neighborhood but also lived in a poor, very white, rural part of the south.

Everyone in every part of the country has their own challenges to deal with. No one gets out of being dealt a tough hand...be it as a Vietnamese refugee trying to begin a new life in a new country without a dollar to his name to a white, rural person with a high school diploma living in a double-wide trailer in North Carolina where the factory jobs dried up years ago to a black woman on welfare in the inner city where the schools are broken and the crime is rampant.

We all live a life of difficulties - job loss, bankruptcy, death in the family, divorce, illness. And to pretend like an all-white community in the mid-West just doesn't 'get it' is so horridly ridiculous to me.

Where is the understanding from those in NYC or those in DC of what the all-white community in the mid-West is suffering? They just DON'T care, and they have decided that the 'problems' of a gay man who can live his love life however he chooses but can't get officially 'married' is equal to the other issues I listed?

What a joke. People want financial security and safety first. And the smarty-pants elite have decided that, no, you want gay marriage and multi-culturalism over and above the basic needs in life.

These 'smarter-than-thou' types need to sit down and be quiet.

the speech after Trump won, if you noticed, it was quite cheery, with a

.It is no secret that obama hates the clintons. The big question is would he destroy his own legacy to watch her lose? I am inclined to think that yes maybe he is that vindictive. He already has his place secured in the history books so he took a let her burn approach and didn't campaign really hard for her.

Yep. Several. One is a young man who was thrown out of his house at 16 when he came out, and "adopted" me as his "dad", because while I'm not a fan of the lifestyle, at least I treated him as human. Also a lesbian friend who could be my sister from another mother.

Blacks?
Please, dude. I grew up in the South and in Texas.

Hispanics?
Hello, lived in Texas for thirty years? Worked with several, too.

I also know some atheists, agnostics, and pagans. I'm friends with a lot of them.

And the largest city I've ever lived in was Detroit. But since I was 5 when Dad got us the hell out of there, I guess it doesn't really count.

698 "Their experience is not more of a real American experience than anyone else's, but when we say that it is, we give people a pass from seeing and understanding more of their country"

You're right. You know what else is "not more of a real American experience"? Living in D.C., hanging out in museums and with gay people.

I can name thousands of experiences I have had that others have not had. Does that make me more or a better American? No. It does not.

Diversity does not mean, "Everyone must think and do things exactly as I do, otherwise they are stupid, racist, homophobic Luddites". The common idea that once was uniquely American was that the States and the people were free to live their lives and pursue happiness in whatever way seemed best to them, without oversight or mandate from a central authority.

This imbeciles central argument is undone by his own words and claimed experiences. He has the freedom to go somewhere else, live differently than he had previously, and see things, meet people, and have unique experiences without and central authority demanding a passport, visa, or denying him anything. Where, exactly, has his or anyone's 508 "Their experience is not more of a real American experience than anyone else's, but when we say that it is, we give people a pass from seeing and understanding more of their country rights or freedoms been infringed on in any of his examples, save his argument that people in OH should be required to live the same way he chose to in DC?

Democrats always, always have election "problems." Whether on purpose or not probably depends on where you are. No one expected Hillary to take Utah--it was either Mcmullin or Trump -- so I doubt fraud was on their mind.

Just standard Democrat stupidity. The county to the north, Davis county, had an extra large turnout and handled it just fine. It's just Salt Lake.

743 >>>You know .. the right to equal housing, equal technology, equal health care, ... all paid for by those vile greedy rich people.
.....

It never ceases to amaze me that they can never think about Step 1 of anything.

Let's pretend that on January 20th, Trump kicks John Roberts off the balcony, declares himself dicator, then hits a button and blows up the entirely of the elected politicians in attendance. He then seizes everything as government property and redistributes it all equally.

That means there are no more rich people. You have no one left to steal from. All houses will be torn down and everyone will live in an identical, government approved housing unit (see soviet Russia for details). You will not have an iPhone because that is a luxury item. You will have a recycled Obama flip phone. Your PhD in social "sciences" will mean nothing because Billy Bob the Homeless Manspreader who grabs pussy with the same hand he wiped his ass with (without using toilet paper) will be entitled to exactly the same of everything as you.

746 You all really should go see the Apollo lunar module, because my grandfather helped build it at the Grumman factory on Long Island. Somehow he managed to be a part of this illustrious undertaking despite being a deplorable white devout Catholic.

Anyway....another thing that makes me laugh is the idea of travel, particularly international travel, as some kind of transformative experience. Hey, go everywhere you are able. I love traveling and seeing new places, because it's fun, not because my life is somehow incomplete without it. Going to Paris and eating in cafes for a week isn't exactly deep, y'know?

Also, when this guy yammers on about all the Muslims he knows, I imagine most of them are like the Muslims I know.IOW, they're as Muslim as I am Catholic. I doubt this guy is shaking hands with too many bearded worshippers at Awlaki's old mosque near DC in Falls Church (or wherever)

747 FFS. I don't need to see the physical constitution in order to read its content and understand it. What with little inventions the author may have heard of called the printing press and later the computer.

It's the understand it part they have trouble with.

Shaking a Muslim's hand and talking to him and finding out he's a nice guy does not excuse the barbaric behavior of the people he's never met who choose to follow his religion a bit more, ahem, 'fundamentally.'

Why can't these dullards get that we "flyover" people really adhere to a brilliant principle by one of their supposed heroes - that we judge a man (or woman) not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character?

The "-ism/-ist", dear author, in the picture you paint, is not your home-town friend who has never met a brown or gay person, but you who can't get past classifying all people by their race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, etc.

Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars (TM) at November 10, 2016 02:30 PM (BK3ZS)

There might be one (Aquarius from 13) orbiting around earth, unless its orbit decayed and it burned up. I don't know. Also 8 and 10 orbited the moon and returned, but I don't know if they took landers with them (for correct weight, flight testing, etc.) - but those ones would have presumably been ditched in Lunar orbit if they did. And may have fallen to the moon.

Aquarius though. Not on the moon, but maybe burned up.

771 Odd, growing up in the Twin Cities suburbs, I saw interracial relationships back in the 80's. Generally it was a white man with an Asian female...and it was NO BIG DEAL.

Where I live now in Arizona, there are a lot of interracial relationships between Hispanics and Whites because those are the two dominant groups in the state. Again, NO BIG DEAL...for normal folk that is.

If the Left wasn't so obsessed with race and ethnicity, people could go about their lives treating other people with respect and kindness regardless of the color of their skin or ethic background. To me, it seems absurd and silly but I guess some folks are just mentally ill and are obsessed with race.

Closing though, we are all humans which means all of us are from the same race...humanity.

Well buddy--you want to continue to stand on a high rock and pee on the heads of the deplorables. You've been telling them it's just rain--but even the dumbest deplorable can finally figure out (and they all did figure it out) that you and your "elite" ilk are simply pissing on them.

777 "More Americans need to see more of the United States. They need to shake a Muslim's hand, or talk soccer with a middle age lesbian, or attend a lecture by a female business executive."

What makes shaking a Muslim's hand, or talking soccer with a middle aged lesbian or attending a lecture from a female business executive 'worthwhile' as seeing more of the world? The Muslims I know are local converts, a blonde hair man and his Hispanic wife. Are they not Muslim enough because they aren't from a middle east country? The only middle ages lesbians I know don't like soccer but like football, US kind. They less lesbian because they don't act European? And a female business exec? The VP's of my company arn't any skilled, but they don't count? All this is from the midwest. None of us EVER said midcountry 'flyover' USA should be elevated above others, but were sick and tired of this BS saying we should discount ourselves in lieu of the coastal elites who keep thinking they know better than us.

778 These protestors and hysterical tweeters are doing us all a favor. We have seen how they will govern without the slightest respect for people with whom they disagree. We have seen that they will hold nothing back to destroy the reputations and livelihoods of all who oppose them, and will even go out of their way to find opposition where none exists in order to make examples of any who might have been thinking about disagreeing (cf. Memories Pizza). So now they just lost an election and IMMEDIATELY whip out the riots and threaten divorce.

The more they show their true colors, the happier I am, because it helps me understand how they'd treat a city full of protesting homophobic racist jesus freaks protesting THEIR actions, so I won't feel at all bad watching them get the hose again.

I don't want reconciliation with these people, I want them to change their behavior or fuck off or die, and I don't much care which.

I want to be in a country full of people who, if they learned that ANYONE was lining up families and executing them, would join with their neighbors and end it immediately, and honestly I see these protestors and tweeters more on the lining up side of the argument than the overthrowing side. They were perfectly happy to let families who had done nothing more than run a tiny business and hold a religious belief get rolled, or even get killed for defying their BLM (not to be confused with #BLM!, except for their obvious similarities, relying more on force than reason e.g.). These are people willing to crack more than a few eggs, and one cannot help but wonder if they are truly more motivated to create the better world they envision or merely to destroy the people they don't like, and their chief activity seems to be looking for people not to like.

In any case, we are enemies. I realized that a few years ago and have been internalizing it since. We ARE enemies. I have many friends to whose side I would rally if I saw the government abusing them, and I came to realize that it was a one-way street. They would maybe be sad for their friend, but their would distance themselves, and they would leave me hanging. And I realized that such a person may be pleasant, agreeable, funny, useful, and many other positive things but friend and countryman they are not.

So I think they should all think about what truly binds us together as countrymen and emphasize that for a while. Because I'm struggling to see it, and me and my buddies are about to get all the levers of power. So keep reminding me how we're not on the same team. Keep reminding us how violent and immature you are. Keep protesting our flag and our anthem and calling us names and telling us you want to leave. Keep beating us on camera and stealing our cars for the crime of having disagreed with you. Keep it up.

Please, keep it up. It will make things so much more pleasant and easy.

Or they might want to change their behavior. Quickly.
