Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Can Trump Win?First of all, vote like your life depended on it -- because it does. Let Colonel Schlichter put some information to you.[The so-called #NeverTrump/#ProHillaryButLyingAbout it group] have not been persuaded, and they can do what they feel they must I respect most of them and expect to join them for a big group hug starting Wednesday because we have many battles to fight regardless of the outcome. But I dont need to hear from the ones who feel compelled to lecture those of us reluctantly voting for Trump, the posers who spit out words like "honor" and "courage" at people who are willing to do the hard and unpleasant thing necessary to save this country while they sit back, comfortable and smug. You can choose not to help defeat Hillary Clinton or even actively assist her but do't ever confuse holding to your principles with holding some sort of moral high ground over those of us who tried to stop her. And she must be stopped. Everything Clinton comes in contact with is fouled and corrupted, and we cannot allow our country to fall into her wretched harpy claws. She turned a charity into a criminal racket. If her corrupt pal Obama was not going to pardon them and he's totally going to pardon them she would have turned a dozen of her aides into convicted felons. Shes even poisoned the already mortally ill press, compelling it to shed the objectivity it at least used to try to pretend it possessed and become her docile cheerleader. In doing so, we normals have been mobilized to detest the corrupt media as never before. Her legacy is a slime that smears everything she touches. He then goes into specifics, but you'll have to pay the people who pay Schlicter with a (free) click. So can Trump win? I don't think so. I thought to win, we'd need one big Black Swan event, which could have taken several forms: 1. A really killer Wikileak leak. No really killer ones lately. Wikileak is demolishing the media but the media isn't on the ballot. 2. Hillary "nearly stumbles" again, as the media claimed when the nation saw her buckle and have what sure looked like a seizure or a major neurological episode. This should never have been forgotten -- but the public tends to forget things rapidly, when the media isn't reminding them. And the media stopped talking about Hillary's health within 48 hours. We needed another episode to remind people. 3. A major piece of bad economic news. We've gotten plenty of bad economic news, but nothing big enough to break through to the public. 4. Another terrorist attack. No, I'm not hoping for this (as I'm not hoping for a bad economy, either); I'm just saying, the media does not want to talk about terrorism, because hillary doesn't want to talk about it, and the only way we would talk about it is after a terrorist incident. 5. That the polls are just wrong and missing millions of voters. I have hoped for the last possibility enough times and seen those hopes dashed an equal number of times that I'm not very big on 5. But I guess that's all we're left with now. If this were the year 5 would finally come through for us, then this would be that year. But 5 is pretty slim hope. On the plus side -- and bear in mind, almost all polls look pretty bad for us right now -- one poll does put Trump within striking distance of Hillary in Pennsylvania, which would not necessarily win the election for Trump (he could still lose must-wins like Florida and North Carolina), but it sure would get him close to winning. I don't know -- I have a very negative feeling about tomorrow. But vote. Make your voice heard. Might be your last time you're actually allowed to do so. There is a nobility in the fight, even if the fight is lost. Even if all of your one-time allies desert you to join the enemy's army-- especially should that be the case. Repost from the last thread: I just had to give my Mom a pep talk via text. Oddly enough, it made me feel better as well. Here's the conversation. Verbatim. Cur's Mom: I'm depressed and moody. doesn't look good for tomorrow. Cur: Knock it off. All the pollsters, journalists, and other minions are pumping out story after story, designed specifically to make you feel that way. SCREW. THEM. Preferably with a sideways, flaming, barbed wire-wrapped pineapple. You're better than that. WE are better than that. Cur: Stay positive. Do your duty in the voting booth, and keep a stout heart. Don't hold back because you're afraid of being disappointed. If the worst happens, then we'll deal with it. Cur: Know that you have family that loves you, fellow conservatives who will stand by your side, and a God who will show you the right path. Cur's Mom: I needed that! I'll be at the polls early in the morning. It's just so frustrating. Trying to lift my lip. Cur's Mom: You are so right. Thank you for that. I feel like having a good cry but will have my usual one beer. Trying to be positive. Cur: Just picture one of those lefty journalists getting that flaming, sideways, barbed wire-wrapped pineapple shoved where the sun don't shine. If that doesn't bring a smile to your face, I don't know what could. > Cur's Mom: I'm not listening to any news now. I'm going to sew for the evening. Cur: That's my girl. Love ya. And stout hearts. Cur's Mom: You devil! Yes, that does make me smile. Cur: See. You just needed a little attitude adjustment. Stout hearts, people. This shit ain't over yet. Stop fucking crying in your beer. Willowed, but on topic...
Listening to Rush this afternoon he was talking about Cadell saying this feels like 1980, but then someone said "early voting" and he immediately backtracked. That just sums it up for me. I can't get past the feeling of dread. Like it is all fixed and we just aren't in on it, but the media is. Yet of all the objective evidence, only some of the polls and the media narrative point to Hillary winning. 1) Over sampled polls in states show Trump leading in must win states. 2) Hillary and Obama are campaigning in states they have no business being in , like MI and PA. 3) Trump is drawing thousands to rally after rally. 4) All of the enthusiasm is on Trump's side. 5) Dem early vote is down off 2012. 6) All the predictions assume those Dem early votes don't have many Trump votes in them. 7) Everywhere I turned this weekend in casual conversation, the topic was Obamacare premiums. Many natural Hillary voters were pissed. 8 - Hillary and the media have been proven to be criminals and colluding. Yet we keep being told Hillary will win. And I have to admit that after 2012, it is hard for be to believe otherwise. Despite all of the other indicators showing she should lose this badly. I firmly believe Trump is a vile man who is destroying or has destroyed the only vehicle left to save this country -- the coalition that elects right of center politicians. But the argument to vote for him is basically Ace's all along: the only chance we have is for the coalition not to get totally and completely wrecked. My fellow partners in this coalition, in a massive act of stupidity, nominated this vile nutcase. But, in the end, they are my coalition partners. They are all I have. Good, Bad, or Ugly, I trust no polls. Not a one.
What I do see is very high activity from the Trump campaign, multiples of more signs and actual people at Trump events compared to Hillary!'s, saturating discussion of Trump's presence, and a groundswell of middle class activism that I've not seen in several elections. The MFM doesn't and won't show it enough, but normal people are angry and upset. Is it enough to beat the margin of fraud and abuse by Democrats and Democrats with Bylines? I dunno, but the lashing out by the ignobles and deplorables is not insignificant. That's where I'm seeing the window of hope. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at November 07, 2016 10:17 PM (1CroS) 61

I think a Hillary win is the best outcome for us. Trump can not fix America. It's too late. The country is too broke - our culture is morally and intellectually corrupted, our economy will be ruined when it collapses from debt, the government is corrupt, the nation is finished. The best outcome for us, is for the coming collapse of the nation to happen sooner rather than later. Trump will only delay the collapse a few years, while Hillary will speed it up by a few years. The sooner it happens, the sooner we can start rebuilding.

Ace, I feel the same way. We needed a final straw that never broke. If there is a shy tory effect combined with black turnout levels returning to pre-Obama levels there is still a chance. It's just so impossible to say at this point what turnout will look like. I think if the polls are off it will be because of a combination of those two things.
The one remaining hope out there is RCP's final map shows Hillary winning with only 272. Any one state flips for Trump and the rest of the map holds, Trump wins. In 2012 everyone was calling for an Obama blowout of Romney which is what we got. With this nail biter it is really on the razor's edge and could fall either way. But I agree that Hillary is the favorite. I'd give her 65-70% chance of victory. While I acknowledge she is in the best position I fall short of actually predicting her victory. It's a tossup that could fall our way. Posted by: Texas Zombie at November 07, 2016 10:23 PM (SUtNI) 108
So to argue against Ace's logic.
1/2 - I think the Comey email thing counts, there was a 6 point shift to Trump as a result. 3 - Obamacare premiums. A lot of people got those this week, it was all I heard about all weekend from a lot of women. 5 - The polling samples have some really weird things in them. That Fox poll has 96% of Democrats voting for her. I agree that if 96% of them vote for her, she will certainly win. But that sounds too unbelievable. Posted by: Dave in Fla at November 07, 2016 10:23 PM (wfDW1) 109
well the MFM preferred polls may be as radically off as the media has been radically biased.
They don't figure the primary turnout, one of the most accurate indicators. They oversample not just Ds, but every group that makes Hillary look good. Wikileaks exposed that getting pollsters to do that was their strategy, and internals show they did it. The early turnout is only being judged by party registration, and even Jill Stein is saying to vote Trump, Susan Sarandon also, and many Bernie supporters are angry ... even with that, Trump still looks good in early voting. Ace baby. It's 5. It is definitely 5.
If the polls are off by the Brexit differential (+4 D bias) it's Trump. This would make the IBD TIPP and the "corrected" LA Times right. The polls were off + 3 R in 2012, and missed the late D surge. Its the opposite this year. (1) Record latinos in south FL? 450,000 yes--but 900,000 new whites in FL. No one talks about that, and R outperformed 2012 by 150,000 in the EV. Seasoned FL D hands are nervous. (2) Trump up in the last 2 polls of MI and PA. Yes, they are R polls, but lower black and youth (Bernie) turnout, with non-college whites way up, is the story of the election. Trump's doing it in bellweather counties that predict this sort of stuff in IA, OH, MI and PA. That cannot be denied by anyone. (3) Reince made it happen. FL and NC EV turnout shows the R are toe to toe with the D in ground game. (4) Larry Sabato was wrong in 2014, and he's wrong now. 322? His credibility is at risk, but he has to support his model of "poll majority over the last month." This is a realigning election, and he missed it. Too few whites in his models. (5) When you are fighting for MI and PA on election eve, when the black vote is down, when we are not 100% sure about the latino breakdown (60-30 or 70-20???), something is up. This is not behaving like a Clinton +3-4 election. If it was, you would see Robby Mook on TV right now talking about their margin, and Hillary at home in NY. The state polls in 2012 were more accurate than the final. Same thing here in the US--same as Brexit, same as Columbia rebel vote. 3-4 points off the national. IBD-TIPP is closer to reality. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Trump's press secretary being giddy tonight on TV is a head fake. Maybe team Hillary sending a 4th string latina to counter him on MeeAgain is 11th dimensional chess. Maybe the economic indicators suggesting a 87% R win 6 months ago are wrong. Something is going on here. I think it's Trexit, personally. I may be wrong, and maybe it's wishful thinking, but darn this feels different. Posted by: Concerned Citizen at November 07, 2016 10:29 PM (dGs9w) 152

Here's why I think the polls really are skewed this time, I know it's tough to believe it given how we've been ass reamed over and over, BUT:
Trump's whole campaign is about redrawing the map. We'll find out if he was truly successful in changing the electorate if he wins a rust belt state (or PA possibly). If he did all the turnout models that always assumes the same turnout, same demographics are complete shit now. Trump is in himself a black swan event so it would be a mistake to assume the same turnout models apply to him. That said it's going to be close. Anyone thinking Hillary will nab 300+ EV is a fuckweed. Posted by: #NeverHillary - #SchlongerTogether at November 07, 2016 10:31 PM (G8TO0) 168
Fuck the Nevertrumpers.
Fuck the Uniparty. Fuck the media. Fuck this world. (It's not about this world anyway, though what we do here matters.) And most importantly of all: Fuck despair. I read ahead in the book. We win in the end, you know. Doesn't mean it's easy or that it's all up to us...but it's on us to do what we can, even in the face of the end of all we love. Because that is who we are. Apparently there are some groups that are going to do 'exit polls' as early as 8 am that are not actually exit pollers but part of the Clinton campaign. So don't be fooled early in the day. In the evening I plan on doing something else, just don't want to watch Americans voting to destroy their own country. However, if my wife tells me there is good news like PA early, I may rejoin. Obamacare premiums. A lot of people got those this week, it was all I heard about all weekend from a lot of women.
I heard a woman on a local radio station (I think she wrote a piece in the Federalist) saying she was kind of leaning Trump but when her family got their health insurance updates for 2017 it completely threw her in the Trump camp. That health insurance costs are a big expense for families and because of Obamacare it's eating middle class families alive. Hillary will win and complete the destruction of the progressive experiment begun under Obama (or Wilson). The media will be blamed for her presidency, but won't be able to honestly cover her because of corporate media companies' business before various federal agencies. This will finish off the tattered remnants of the mainstream media (including ESPN). It will be painful. But the failure of progressive corruption is inevitable. Obama will be replaced as the worst president of all time by Hillary's failed one and only term.

So let me say something else to put things into perspective. This election has done so much to remove masks and pretensions. Both parties have serious fractures along very fundamental political and philosophical lines. We are definitely under a huge paradigm shift. Do watch the Styxhexenhammer666 video on the triple paradigm shift he made very early on in the campaign season. He's right. But whatever happens tomorrow, no matter who wins it's not going to be smooth sailing for either of them. Our for us. You've got progressives on the left complaining Hillary's policies are neo con and Republican, and the right complaining trump is a liberal. So, it's going to be interesting either way. And just remember, it's in God's hands and it always has been.

Enough. Ace called me a "fucking cunt" earlier in the year for saying that Trump could win. Not the guy I'd want in a foxhole.
Repost from me earlier today. Ace tell me where I'm wrong. Else pistols at dawn Wednesday. "You still think Trump wins tomorrow?" Yep. Turnout is the key variable. There's no scientific way to model this because the changes from 2012 are too stark, including because we have two candidates with ridiculously high negatives while we had one charismatic candidate the last time. So I worked this by looking at 2012 actuals by cohort and then handicapping where I thought turnout would come out. My assumptions: Black turnout will be down, and closer to where white non-college was in 2012. Trump will get 15%, not 7%. Black men will be reluctant to vote for the White Witch. White non-college will be up in turnout and % for Trump. This by far the largest cohort. And it weights to many battleground states. This is my biggest driver. You don't have to move this one lever very much. White college goes more for Hillary than Obama -- including because of suburban women -- but turnout can't get any higher than in 2012. Many who defect from the R party because Trump is a pussy grabber are mostly in Deep Blue states. My biggest assumption is that Hispanics won't vote for Hillary much differently than they did for Obama. He may even do better than Romney. Hispanics are mostly in Deep Blue states. Cubans in Miami aren't Mexicans. By using 2012 as a baseline I'm accepting a level of fraud for openers, especially in key cities like Philly. The EC favors Trump because smaller states get more weight. He could easily win the EC while being down 2% in the popular vote. Trump's messaging works well in swing states like OH, PA and MI. He's done well to date in FL. Riots in NC will help. Trump has had recent positive momentum in the honest polls. I conclude Trump winning the EC tight without the Shy Tory effect, which I think will add 2%. Pundits say that Trump must thread the needle to draw to an inside straight to climb up the insurmountable hill, but it's Hillary who has less room for error. If Trump wins FL and NC and start chilling the champagne. Pop the cork when he wins one more like PA or MI. Posted by: Ignoramus at November 07, 2016 10:41 PM (bQxkN) 258

Speaking of contesting FL (and all Hispanic voting states):
Don't you think what Trump and Bannon have set up as plan B? Why do you think he talked at the debate about "I'll let you know" whether he accepts the result? Why do you think Breitbart leaked the Obama "illegals can vote" tape? If the margin in any state is less than 50,000, he will contest every ballot with a Hispanic name for citizenship or (in the case of Puerto Ricans) state residency. That is plan B. It was a beautiful arrangement because... TRUMP DIDN'T WANT TO WIN. And he especially didn't want Cruz to win. And it was Trump folks who helped Reince consolidate power in party leadership for generations to come through the rules votes, rather than face actual votes allowed by existing rules (votes Trump would have won easily, by the way). Somehow, every single friggin time, people forget that Republicans outperform the polls. Basically always, between 2% and 3%. States where polls are showing 2% or less for Clinton, Trump has a good chance of winning. And since the media and polling organizations have deliberately and completely pissed away their credibility with their stupid, wild-ass, retarded polls (Hillary +12!!1!), I suspect he'll outperform the published polls significantly. It's all the rage to pooh-pooh Trump's rallies, but the fact is that he commands a level of enthusiasm that is utterly lacking in the Democratic camp. Although I think the odds are against us, I never believe in giving up until the game's over. Pure anecdote, but this is the first time in my long marriage I haven't had to drag my husband to the polls and instruct him whom to vote for. He early-voted for Trump before I did and I didn't even have to tell him to do it for a change.

FFS, most of the most recent polls show him $(#@$($( ahead of Hillary. I mean, ok whatever, whine about the dang polls, but you don't have to unskew a lead in PA, he has it, in the most recent poll we have.
Why is Hillary +1 proof that she's secretly up +5, but not with Trump? All you eeyores happily unskew the crap out of the polls to make it seem like Hillary is invincible. She's not, she's a sad ridiculous drunk who is going to lose tomorrow because she couldn't even be arsed to get many of the fraud-performers their payoffs in time. And she's also going to lose because people want to vote for Trump and have found their own way to the mail-in ballots and early voting and tomorrow, the polling places. 91 I think a Hillary win is the best outcome for us.
Bring it on ! Posted by: gordok at November 07, 2016 10:21 PM (naymY) What makes anyone think there will be a rebuild to what we used to have? I close to completely certain that Trump will win Florida, unless there was massive fraud in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. He won't win the state in a landslide, but by about 1 or 2%, according to my calculations (which are based on actual votes cast, not the polls).
If I am correct about Florida, then there is hope nationally. Because most of the recent polls show Hillary leading in Florida by a couple points. So if the polls are wrong in Florida by 3-4 points, then they could be wrong nationally by 3-4 points. Which means Trump is actually tied with Hillary, and could reasonably also win Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Nevada. Which would win him the election by a comfortable margin. If you want me to explain my reasoning about Florida, just ask. I've been doing deep research, county-by-county, as well as statewide. Actual votes, folks, not just polls. If Trump loses Florida, it's either because of vote fraud, or a huge contingent of Never Trump Republicans voting for Hillary (which the polls are not showing), or because Independents went for Hillary (which is another thing that the polls are indicating). ----------------- Yep. One thing this election has done is re-drawn and clarified the battle lines. Just like they say politics is downstream of culture, governance is downstream of whether there is a right of self-government. The battle between Globalists and Americanists is fundamentally a battle for self-government. The powerful impulse by global businesses for a uniform global regimen of regulation, taxes, currency and open access to capital, labor and markets regardless of purported borders is completely understandable from their perspective. It is not hugely different from the globalist vision of transnational progressivism, which differs in that it does not value markets to the extent the former does, but would similarly transfer governing power away from the masses and to an 'enlightened' global elite making decisions on behalf of the global collective. There has been a somewhat successful attempt to label globalist market economic utopianism as "conservative" and to paint defenders of self-government by the peoples of nation-states as "populists," a propaganda victory for their side since the term populism smacks of ignorance and demagoguery. But their political vision is not conservative of anything of value in terms of our right of self-governance, our constitution or our history, culture and traditions. Regardless of win or lose tomorrow, the most important element of the fight going forward has to be for our right of self-governance. The government needs to be made to work as the agent of the American people, and not the agent of Davoisie globalist interests, whether from the perspective of global business interests or from the perspective of global socialism, against the American people. It started with the Tea Party and it's still growing. This is not just about this election, this year, this decade. It's about a new American spirit re-growing from the remains of its poisoned roots. Enough with poll results, with exit polls, with TV news channels. DO not believe any of it. Only believe the actual vote tally(and of course, we can look at that sideways due to the amount of fraud being approved by the judiciary)
Go to Vote 411.org and look up your own specific ballot and read up on all the down ballot candidates and determine who you will vote for. You can select the candidate on the site and then print it out, or, as I did, simply write it on a piece of paper so the leftist Women's Voting League doesn't give my selections to the Democrats for yet another one of their asinine polls. Take it to the poll tomorrow and vote. Then turn off all the pundits, go watch sports, or do something with your family or a hobby or go work. Get off the internet. Ignore the handwringing, etc. There is nothing more you can do at this point. As a friend of mine said once, she tries to only worry about things she can actually do something about. I can't do anymore than I have already done. I'll deal with whatever government my fellow citizens choose to put in place. There isn't any other choice. Seldom had any Republican running for president had so many chances to turn the tables on the Democrat nominee as Donald Trump had. That is how bad Hillary is, the worst candidate the Dems ever put up for president.
Never had any other Republican running for president fail to exploit just about all of the opportunities to turn the tables on the Democrat nominee as Donald Trump did. He blew almost every single one, from simple things like detailed prep for the first debate, making immigration reform attractive to middle class voters by including restricting H1B visas, avoid insulting active military personnel, immediately repudiating David Duke, etc. He blew ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE. Running for the presidency is the ultimate in delayed/deferred gratification. The simple things you do when you want to feel good have to give way to winning the election first. Then you can let it all out. Donald Trump didn't understand that - whether using a speech to threaten lawsuits against women making accusations against him, right up to failing to prepared for the greatest sales pitch a salesman like him could have and convincing people watching the first debate that he should be president. If NeverTrump are responsible for Hillary winning, then so is Trump himself. Trying to not say he wasn't a party to his own defeat is self-deception at its' worst. Read up on obscure local and state down-ballot votes: judges, referenda, local officials such as school board, water district, etc. I would have no idea about many of these things if I didn't seek it out on the internet. Find a few conservative sites to get recommendations if you have no idea. Whatever happens in the Presidential, at least try to strain out the worst of the local turds.
In California for example, judges are elected, and some of them have turned out to be real pieces of shit -- activists legislating from the bench, narcissists throwing tantrums at witnesses and attorneys, some verging into actual criminality. The average person has no idea who's running -- a small number of informed voters can have a disproportionate impact. It needs to be done. We can't take any more of Vichy Republicans turning a blind eye to systematic Democrat vote fraud and pretending that it doesn't happen. It's time to draw a line in the sand.
The media will accuse Trump and his supporters of being "divisive" and "delegitimizing the democratic process". Hell, they might even call it "treasonous". As I said earlier this afternoon, this is where things will start to get sporty. Posted by: rickl the deplorable at November 07, 2016 10:54 PM (sdi6R) Democrats have engaged in wholesale electoral fraud nationally at least since 1960. Kennedy won through straight-up electoral fraud, until Oswald cast his decisive vote. Christine "Landslide" Gregoire won the gubernatorial election in WA when the Democrats kept "finding" more ballots - almost all for Gregoire - until ultimately there were more votes cast in King County than there were registered voters. ("It's a miracle!") So fuck the media. At some point we will need to help most of its members to raise their perspective. From a lamp post, for example. Trump was not my initial choice but my country is in the shitter and a slight majority of my countrymen are happily swirling in the bowl. I will vote for him as a last best hope effort but after that, I no longer know. There is an amorphous statist-corporatist-globalist... thing that is destroying the very core and being of my nation and society at large. Somehow, I am now not only battling my leftist enemies but many on the right I once considered my allies. Most of us here and tens of millions of our fellows here in the US and in other nations will be pushed in to a corner with nowhere left to turn. And what will happen then? I will say this. Those folks saying the US will be Venezuela in 30 years are off the mark by a couple decades. Looking back to the 2004 election season and seeing how far we've fallen in 12 years, I suspect that the US will at the Venezuela mark within a decade. Maybe a better comparison would be Russia in the immediate post-Soviet years or, if we're really unlucky, the Balkans during the same time period. None of this makes me hopeful in the least but sad to say, it's better than the crushing globalist mega-state our so-called better wish for us now. Okay, now I'm really depressed! There is another, more optimistic explanation. Like Pauline Kael - they don't know anybody who is going to vote for Trump. The MSM lives in a bubble. They believe their own propaganda. Posted by: Reggie1971 at November 07, 2016 11:16 PM (CWK2W) Yes, but more fundamentally, this election is not about details of specific issues. It's not about how much the minimum wage should be, or any of that shit. It's about the overall direction of the country - capitalist, or communist? Who has pride of place - the state, or the individual? Should it be possible to use the state to silence dissenting views? Should the state be answerable to the electorate, or the other way around? Was it fundamentally that we stand for as a people, and as a nation? Trump raises and addresses those issues. The truly important ones. I actually feel better tonight then I did this morning. I could be wrong but I think Trump cracks one of the blue wall states. The polling there has been crappy, and Hillary bombed there in the primary with some of those same polling firms claiming she would win them (like Michigan where they were way off).
It is hard to win those states when you are a pro-free trade and pro-wall street and pro-big bank candidate. Two variables: Look at the states where the Obamacare premiums went up the most and then look at the states where Bernie won. You will see states like Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania at the top the list. You can now see why there has been a lot of major visits from both campaigns in those states in the last few days. People act like Trump has a thin road to victory, but so does Hillary. If she loses any one she is probably going to lose the election. If Trump loses Florida, it's either because of vote fraud, or a huge contingent of Never Trump Republicans voting for Hillary (which the polls are not showing), or because Independents went for Hillary (which is another thing that the polls are indicating). Option 6: All the polls are on average right except the oddball Hillary +11 poll in NH. Undecideds break by a slight-to-respectable margin for Trump. Result? Trump loses the popular vote by 2-4%, but wins the electoral college at 271-267 or 270-268 (depending on how Nebraska and Maine split their electoral votes, since they are by congressional district). Trump ends up having bled major support in deep red and deep blue states, but traded it for votes in swing states -- just barely enough support to push him over the line. Or option #7 (which I'd write off as about as probable as the Trafalgar group's Michigan Trump +2 poll being accurate -- but it's still possible): The polls are roughly right, and Minnesota swoops in out of absolutely nobody's field of vision to go red for the first time since before I was born, propelled by an insanely strong Trump showing in the Iron Range and Cruz/Rubio inclined suburban voters in the second district. There's a resounding victory for Stewart Mills, and Trump rides Jason Lewis's coattails in the 'burbs. Everyone's missed it because no one has polled the state since before Comey's original head-fake. At that point, Trump was running a couple points ahead in MN as compared to MI, and MI since that announcement moved to toss-up with Clinton a slight favorite. The surprise win in Minnesota swings enough EVs that Trump's path to victory is forgiving in other swing states: http://www.270towin.com/maps/6vn2d There's a reason Nate Silver is screaming at Democrats not to get complacent. The national polls are grim, but Trump is outperforming them in the state-by-state measures. I rather suspect that the national polls will converge with the state polls tomorrow, though. Whether that means the national polls are wrong or the state polls are wrong, I can't really say. But it feels like one of the two can't be right with this much divergence between the two. RE: "Either you have an army willing to fight or you don't."
Also, if the armies are willing to fight, they have to be fighting for the same things. For many years now, Rush has been stating over and over that the most important thing is to Beat The Democrat. I stopped believing that back in the last two years of GWB's second term. That's when I realized. So as much as I have loved Rush over many years -- two decades now -- I haven't agree with him on The Primary Battle for a long long time now. So immediately we have people who are very very divided on actual primary goals. Posted by: Igor at November 07, 2016 11:38 PM (gM0Lz) 540

Once I vote the matter is out of my hands, to the extent that it was ever in them. I will vote for Trump; I voted for Ted Cruz in Senate and will vote for him again in future but the RNC wasted their money and credibility trying to crown Jeb and then ludicrous homunculi like John Kasich, pissing away the deep strong bench the GOP was blessed with this year in people like Cruz and Walker. One thing I'm hoping might make a difference is if some of the Berniebros either vote Trump (that will be a small number) or 3rd party. Oh, and aside the optimism from my prior post, there's another reason to go into this election more confident than the national presidential polls indicate.
Three generic congressional polls today: R+1, R+3, and D+3. Remember what happened the last two times we went into elections with Republicans actually ahead on that measure? 2010 and 2014. Is there really that much ticket splitting against Trump? Eh, maybe. In that case we'll see Republicans maybe not even lose seats in the Senate, and gain seats in the house, even as they lose the presidency. But maybe not. Maybe we're finally seeing those last couple percent where the shy Trumpsters kick in. I know I haven't yet admitted to anyone that tomorrow morning I'll vote for the trumpster fire. The only thing that finally pushed me over the edge was Comey's pathetic backtrack. Screw that. The rule of law must be reestablished. Too cute by half, jerkwad. Outright toying with me like that? Nope. Now I have a reason. Pure, unadulterated spite at Comey personally. Don't ask me why it didn't connect for Hillary. Maybe the numbness of her being in the public eye for too long. Ace: "5. That the polls are just wrong and missing millions of voters."
But but but but but but ... Ace! You GOT your wish on this one. Over this weekend & into today, it's becoming totally clear that the inability of pollster - of all kinds, land line long interview, online, whatever - to find latinos & even moreso latinas is the big closing hours story. The hispanic vote has always lagged behind whites & as well black votes, going back even before Obama weaponized the latter. And the thing of it was, Bush II did fine with hispanics, McCain less so but not too bad, Romney basically the same. But Trump's YUGE identification with the Wall, with Mexico's Gonna Pay For It, with Mexkins R Rapists, with Arpaio headed to a loss the shortly after to the hooskow, is combined with the party's ID with blocking immigration reform, to bring in a Double Tsunami: Record hispanic turn-out with the new margin all going to the Hillabeast or the Democrat party or both. The race for the White House is done; it's set in concrete. The question now isn't whether the Democrat party takes control of the Senate, but instead it's about by how much. The House is likely still safe, but there's be somewhere between 18 and 24 less Republicans sitting in the House in the next Congress. Obama's going out at an approval rate that tops what Reagan went out at. Enough Republican senators have defected from blocking a vote on Garland that Obama's bound to get his hand-picked Supreme Court nom in during the lame duck, and for the next 2 years at least, the Clinton's will get to replace any new SC vacancy with whoever they want. The rout is on, & the 'hidden hispanic vote' is leading it. Posted by: Boldfinger at November 08, 2016 12:22 AM (C/rq0) 589

Don't vote.
- If everyone on the radio and TV is telling you to vote. That's not a good reason to vote. Don't vote. - If you're voting for the "lesser of two evils", you're wrong, there is no lesser evil in this race. Don't vote. - If your vote is the result of what other people have told you and based on no outside informational sources at all, please don't vote. - If you look at polls and vote based solely on their supposed "scientific" analysis, please don't vote. Any poll outside a 2.5% margin of error is simply inaccurate, and usually wildly inaccurate. Polls are used only to influence the weak-minded. - If you don't know the name of your two representative senators and the name of the congressional representative of your district and don't have at least a passing familiarity with their respective ideological beliefs, please do not vote. - If you are voting using a "voter guide" that someone else either gave you or filled out for you, please do not vote. - If you are not a living person, please do not vote. Seems dead people are voting more in this election than usual, and earlier than usual. - If you think your vote doesn't count, you're right. Don't vote. - If you actually believe either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will help change this country for the better, you are absolutely wrong and you must not vote. - If something was revealed, leaked, uncovered, or surfaced during the campaign and it caused you to change your vote, please don't vote. We all knew the kind of people these two were long before this presidential race ever began. - If you are voting based on a celebrity endorsement, please, for the love of all that is good, do not vote. - If your vote is based solely on identity (i.e. gender), you must not vote. - If voting is an inconvenience for you, don't vote. - If you're voting based on a single issue, please don't vote. - If you are voting for popularity reasons ("Hey look, I voted for that candidate you guys all like, I'm part of your tribe now! Validate me!") Please. Do. Not. Vote. - If you've read through all of these and at any time asked yourself "Is Garrett talking about me?" The answer is: yes. I am talking about you. If you have to ask that question, you already know the answer, and you already know what you have to do: Don't vote. Posted by: SGT York at November 08, 2016 12:37 AM (ITvKk) 592

"Can Trump Win?"
Sure, 70% think the economy and country are going the wrong way. Also, most Presidential elections are about "It's the economy, stupid." The bigger question is if a conservative can live in NYC and stay sane. That may be impossible, or at least require too much booze to maintain one's health. Anyone who thinks the polls aren't a weapon in the hands of the PTB is naive. The state of the election is shown by where they are spending their time. So Trump is on the offensive. And, ace, some chess advice. Work on what matters and ignore the distractions. Think about an enemy's weak point and crush them there. Might be an overworked piece, or it might be a diagonal that you can open by some means. And the same general rule should apply to election analysis: Where is Hillary weakest? How is Trump's team attacking her there? Most media and blog discussions are merely noise, often paid with the goal of distraction. Posted by: Lance at November 08, 2016 12:53 AM (GXcg+) 598

At least we're not going through the horrible event of Rubio, Kasich, or Cruz easily winning, amiright?

I think Rubio et al wouldn't have turned out the sub 40 base like Trump is going to. Not an expert

Damn Ace. I understand the toning down expectations after the last 2 elections, but I see victory from where I am sitting.

I'm not a fan of the NeverTrump contingent that is obsessed with conservatism having a "respectable" image (i.e., losing and non-threatening,) which is a lot of them, but the amount of whining about them from Ace, considering that in his pro-Cruz primary phase he said he agreed with the idea that Trump could majorly fuck up an international crisis, is a little much. I know, Hillary is the Worst Ever (I think it has more to do with the Democratic Party as a whole, but she won't oppose it continuing to go leftward culturally so that's a distinction without difference,) but you laid out a pretty serious case against the guy as an unstable ignoramus before it became "stop Hillary at all costs." It's not like the flaws are minor. It's entirely plausible that if Clinton is president she'll do a better job on the world stage than Trump would, for reasons that don't have much to do with their stated policies.
All that being said, if Clinton wins, any of the "free markets, Hispanics are natural conservatives, embrace diversity" empty GOP consultant rhetoric after the election should be ignored. Posted by: Talk at November 08, 2016 02:33 AM (Pa4eZ) 611
70 I'm going to go first thing in the morning and drop that vote down on Trump's name. And then - with disgust, but it's too close to do what I really want to do - very reluctantly vote for Rubio.
As for the rest of the day, I know nothing of what will happen. All I know is that, for one reason or the other tomorrow night, that bottle of wine shouldn't expect to stick around long. And, if things go far one way or the other, the scotch is in jeopardy as well. Posted by: Locarno at November 07, 2016 10:18 PM (HhYvn) Berners incoming to save your mopey asses, I think. And you're lucky to have (barf) Rubio. I voted Trump but green for Senate even though the guy in AZ registered as a joke. Sure as shit couldn't vote McCain or the Hillbot idiot Kirkpatrick. Berners aren't gonna rush to the polls to support Killary and her merry bands of neocon war criminals. Black people are quoting Malcolm X on the Goldwater vs Johnson race. Romney sucked. Normal blue collar folks weren't gonna rush to the polls to vote for his elitist ass, but they will show up for Trump. No way 2012 demographics hold. The fact that they had to send Michelle O out scraping for Hillary votes in PA and MI is a serious sign of weakness. Jesus, people, get a hold of yourselves and get yourself and everybody you know out to vote against Hillary tomorrow. Posted by: Bernette at November 08, 2016 02:45 AM (JSys4) 612
If tomorrow goes sideways I'm off to the catacombs. I'll focus on my faith, my family, and my hobbies but politics will take a permanent backseat. And on the #NeverTrump folks, should he go down to defeat tomorrow, in 2020 I will be #NeverWhomeverEastablishmentFuckGetsTheNod. Turnabout is fair play. A better man would be able to forgive their treachery, I am not that man.

"There is a nobility in the fight, even if the fight is lost. Even if all of your one-time allies desert you to join the enemy's army-- especially should that be the case."
Posted by: Ace at 09:08 PM Aye. I'd say there's two kinds of nobility in it, even. I don't know if they have fancy names, but I think of them as the Christian and the Norse brands. The Christian one is that even in the face of darkness, overwhelming power, and imminent defeat, you stand and fight, because no matter how dark it may seem now - this is not the last battle. The Devil rules this world, but this world is mortal and will pass away. You are immortal, and at the Last Judgment there will be a reckoning of your deeds. The Norse one is that against the giants, monsters, trolls (not the internet variety), wights and whatever other beasts come, you stand and fight, because that is the act of a Man. In defense of beauty and knowledge and civilization, against the brutes and ogres, it is the right thing to fight at Ragnarok. Knowing you will lose, but going to your death nonetheless because every minute bought for hearth and home is a good minute. Posted by: Blackbutt the Pirate at November 08, 2016 05:16 AM (Th/kH) 617
There is nobility and urgency in the fight, but it was lost long ago when Trump was nominated.
"But vote. Make your voice heard." I will make my voice heard by refusing to vote for any of them. In this simpleton's judgement, none are worthy of my support. And I'm a Masshole, so my vote doesn't matter anyway. Posted by: steve walsh at November 08, 2016 06:33 AM (SPxQP) 618
This is the WORST month for me personally.
I'm a Marine to my soul, what makes me special isn't that I'm smarter than you, which I am, or that I'm better looking than you, which I am,or that I can kick the ass of anyone in a slightly weight fight in your favor, which I can. Also Fuck a shittone of bitches that I will break, like the domacratic authoritarian party ran government does natural law. But I have The Marine Corps Birthday, Veterans day, a family members birthday, Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday because it is 100% about family and friends not about gifts or any bullshit) But this year, in fact today, it's about me signing my name to one more person who I think is a fucking IDIOT! OUTRIGHT FUCKING IDIOT, and I will vote for him, because the other choice is a RETARDED FUCKING CRIMINAL who should BE IN FUCKING JAIL! And that is the JOY I embrace this month, and I exercise my right to vote, all manipulated by careless fucking power hungry democrats, because the dem's WANTED trump, I will not capitalize his name. I dropped out of college to join The Corps (the rules were very strict when I enlisted, so I had to take my window) I ONLY wanted to serve my nation, my nation made me smart, which I am, and likely smarter than you. My nation made my family amazing with all of their failings, I learned so much just knowing people who cared, and had the opportunity to be who they wished to be, and I wore uncomfortable clothes in the only job that I ever wanted to have as I stood at the fore for you and the young and thoughtful man that I was, and that is the America that I love. So today I'm voting for cynicism, and I hate ALL OF YOU! I'ts my birthday,i t's my day,it's my favorite family holiday, and what SHOULD be a sharing of the community that is America, we succeeded in destroying that. I'm voting today to buy me time JUST ENOUGH to battle in the revolution. I hope it waits till I finish my drink with my Marine brothers, REAL HEROS OF AMERICA, and then share a meal with my family, who BUILT SEVERAL SERVICEMEMBERS who love their nation at the expense of their blood. And then? I buy food and build a turret. Posted by: Wickedpinto at November 08, 2016 07:11 AM (CIpNU) 619

It looks great for Trump with the exception of the polls--particularly the network polls, the one thing they would never taint, rig or lie about.
(Although IBD TPP, the closest one the past few elections has him up 2 points.) The polls-- the one thing they hold most dear as the MSM get to manufacture something to talk about without having to do any real reporting. Yes, Reporting!: which now consists of asking the DNC what they'd like to see on the news today, having them type it up, email it in and and then stick it up there on the screen. Trump in a landslide. Posted by: Dirks Strewn at November 08, 2016 07:42 AM (iWW0H) 624

What if Obonzo does not pardon the communist lesbian in
the Mao Jacket or any of her cronies? While he may very well be ideologically driven to pardon every inner city drug dealer and murderer, he might not want to go down as an accessory to political corruption. From what I understand, there is no love lost between the two, and he knows her campaign invented the Birther movement, and there are those pesky racist comments by Bubba. He could figuratively leave her twisting in the wind! Posted by: Leonard Jones at November 08, 2016 09:14 AM (mxgwX) 631

I live in very blue Massachusetts, a state that Hillary will win by several hundred thousand votes (they'd elect dead Ted Kennedy) so a vote here for Trump means nothing.
I voted for my wife for prez and myself for congress. Yay, meaningless voting . . . Posted by: Blaine at November 08, 2016 12:08 PM (4I20X) 634
