Anthony Weiner Undergoing "Equine Therapy" At Sex Rehab Clinic

That means he gets to ride a horse to stop being such a pervert.

Say -- do women also ride horses to get over sex addiction? Because that doesn't sound like it would be productive.

weinerridesagain.jpg
Pictured: A horse (bottom), an asshole (top)

It's an expensive retreat in Tennessee patronized by high-dollar "patients."

Experts say horse therapy is used, among other things, to boost a user's self-esteem and even improve physical coordination.

Sounds like a very clever way to separate people from their money.

I'm sure nothing bad will come from this.

In unrelated news, isn't it time to stage another production of Equus?

Modeled after Harry's first broom, Mattel's now discontinued battery-operated Nimbus 2000 featured a grooved stick and handle for kids who wanted to ride it around the house. The dubious part: it vibrated. Some of the (now deleted) comments on Amazon were so good, they had to be written with a wink: "I'm 32 and enjoy riding the broom as much as my 12 yr old and 7 year old," wrote one satisfied customer.

Posted by: alexthechick - but I have chocolate chip cookies so that's okay then at November 04, 2016 01:46 PM (mf5HN)

I do not know of a single Legitimate equine therapy practice that works with sex addiction. Although there is always some pioneer who thinks, yeah, addiction is addiction, so let try it.

For addictions, traumas's etc. riding is one of the last things done as therapy for the individual. Most good therapy programs will have the person work on the ground with the horse, because this is where fears, trauma's , etc. will be exposed. The horse is honest and won't lie to them, nor accept the person being disingenuous.

Riding helps the individual with physical disabilites, and it is both mentally and physically good for those wounded in combat, etc. They get to once again feel they can direct something more powerful than themselves, muscles get used that are normally used in walking and standing, etc.

Weiner's "sex clinic" sounds more like a fancy retreat with outdoor activities where he thought he could get away from the media , plus look like he is addressing his mental illness.

I was not feeding the horse, I was riding the horse. The horse was determined to graze. I was determined the horse would not graze. The horse took exception to my kicking him and tugging on the reins and chomped on my foot.

This is all Bander's fault.

Posted by: JackStraw at November 04, 2016 01:58 PM (/tuJf)

I realize it's fun to laugh at Weiner for his helmet, but most equestrian sports are mandating helmets. There have been numerous high profile riders, including some Olympic level ones, who are now living with permanent brain damage from falling off a horse.

A fall from 8 to 10 feet from a horse is dangerous. That's without speed added, or height if the horse rears, shies, or is jumping. Helmets don't prevent everything , and can't prevent all brain trauma, but they do a decent job of limiting the numbers who end up with head trauma.

And besides, you wont find any commercial establishment or professional stable that allows riding without helmets anymore because of insurance. Even most of the cutting horse, and traditional western barns are requiring them.

Weiner's brightly colored helmet is dorky looking. There are much better choices.

OK ... I can't let this go. First - she was not riding me. She was standing in the pasture.

Second ... That wasn't her foot. Look - I'm sorry. I love kids, as well as people of kid sized stature. But when you're of a certain height ... and the grass is tall ... it's kinda' on you to take precautions. That's all I'm sayin'.

338 If a rider isn't at least moderately comfortable and capable, horses start to remember that they don't like being ridden. A good rider makes the horse happy and ready to go, willing to be led. A bad rider makes them want to wander off somewhere and eat, brush them off on a low hanging branch, etc.

I used to part time at a riding stable on the beach on Galveston Island. We would take groups of riders down the beach. About once a weekend we'd wind up riding hell bent for the barn chasing down one that had dumped their rider and was headed home.

That's funny. A few weeks ago a number of posters here were saying what a big problem it was for Trump that his campaign wasn't raising and spending any money on setting up a GOTV operation. The assurance from the legions of Trump fans was that he didn't need it because enthusiasm and his sparkling awesome tactics.

Parties don't do this kind of thing on its lonesome, because keeping it up in the periods between elections is too expensive. The campaigns raise money and establish their own GOTV organizations during the primaries, which then interface with the parties as the general campaign commences. Trump waged a largely free media driven primary campaign and just a few short weeks ago that earned him all the praise in the world here. Now that it could be an issue it's not his fault.

That way they can evade the records laws. The next step is going to be the further removal of the elected official from the day to day. Campaigns and candidates will operate as mob bosses do. Nothing in writing. Everything by phone call. Lieutenants will distribute orders so that plausible deniability can be maintained. 388 I think there was a minor recession caused by that last picture, caused when half the secretaries in the world had to "stay home" for a day or two after the naked Daniel Radcliffe on a horse pic came out.

As for horse therapy, one of my wife's friend does that. She won't let any new client onto a horse until around 10 hours have gone by of ground work. At least. And she's required to use helmets. My girls have to wear helmets when they go ride her horses.

389 Parties don't do this kind of thing on its lonesome, because keeping it up in the periods between elections is too expensive. The campaigns raise money and establish their own GOTV organizations during the primaries, which then interface with the parties as the general campaign commences. Trump waged a largely free media driven primary campaign and just a few short weeks ago that earned him all the praise in the world here. Now that it could be an issue it's not his fault.

It was a fun movie but that's as far as I would take it. It was cheesy as all get out - so far as moviemaking goes and I wouldn't say that the acting was anything beyond barely passable.

Yes, there was a bit of an obvious point clumsily made about individualism but if you watch the movie closely I think you will find that it doesn't really say what you think. It was a cheap knock-off of 1984 with the fury directed at corporations instead of governments, but I think the bulk of the message was aimed at fighting capitalism.

It's a bit tough to say, though, since the movie didn't really make any deep arguments about anything other than saying that the people can be controlled with bread and bloody circuses and that corporations demand the radical submission of individualism. But that isn't really true.

Corporations can hardly be successful enough to take over the world without nurturing individualistic performance among their own employees and management. The big difference between governments and corporations is that governments have no real measures of performance and tend to continue to exist and abuse even as they are as incompetent as possible. Corporations don't have that luxury.

I liked the movie - when I saw it as a kid - but mostly for the violence. I never found the story to be compelling in any way or to address any serious issues - other than the ham-handed argument they offered for individualism. They never addressed why the corporations thought it was bad and why it is good.

No, it matters. Which is why Obama spent so much time and money on it despite his popularity.

Trump is relying on the RNC to provide his GOTV this time and the RNC has spent millions since 2012 to beef up there national field offices to be more competitive with the infrastructure the Dems have been building for years.

There is a lot of motivation this year. A lot of it is an anti-Hillary vote which has been a huge focus of what Trump has been speaking about over the last few weeks. I don't care what motivates them, just get out and vote like your future depends on it.

Even if it doesn't help you win - if it helps you pick up another percentage point or another state, it is helpful because that increases your political capital.

As others said, seems like you would want both - first to be popular, but to compliment that with a great ground game. Sort of strikes me as similar to a team. First, I'd want great players. But it also helps to have a great coach. You may win regardless, but don't you also want to be one of the best teams ever.

No, it's not. The Obama team has been bragging about their GOTV efforts for years and for good reason, it helps.

They got tons of new, mostly young and minority, voters that had never been part of the process before and more importantly, got them registered and out to vote.

It doesn't guarantee you a win but it is pretty indisputable that it helps. It's not like Trump has no GOTV effort, it's just that he has used the Party's infrastructure rather than building a big one of his own.

588 526 I am happy to have a deep discussion about Rollerball! I really liked it -- great acting, interesting commentary on society.

Posted by: zombie at November 04, 2016 02:39 PM (jBuUi)

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair

I threw down the gauntlet and you picked it right back up and slapped me around with it! Touché!

I think that the "evil corporations" in the film are actually no different from "evil government" -- they have become the government. It was away for the fimmakers to speak tot he anti-authoritarian Left and the anti-authoritarian right at the same time, by posting a future in which there is no distinction between government-oppression and corporation-oppression -- and that ultimately they are the same thing. Which, in fact, we are beginning to see now with the "crony capitalism" of the Obama-Clinton axis fusing with the "socialism" of the pro-government crowd. The film is therefore about individualism vs. totalitarian communalism in all its forms -- which i think is a good way to frame the issue on a way that appeals to maximum number of people.

It's all guesswork and ass covering at this point. I agree that the polling groups et al are going to make it out to be a tie heading into Monday night because that way they can't be wrong.

Close either way? Within the MOE.

Big break to Trump? Well we showed you momentum in that direction.

Hillary by a lot? She overcame Trump's late surge.

Non-falsifiability is a marvelous thing.

624 Romney only increased turnout by 1M over MCCain. He didn't even reach Bush's 2004 turnout (-1.3 million).

It was a combination lingering GOP brand damage, a message that only appealed to business owners, and the fact he was perceived as a Massachusetts moderate technocrat (i.e Dukakis).

But you see, this is where we split. Even though the main thrust of the story was that Jonathan was the greatest ever and that he stood out (and thus was being forced to quit by the corporations) it never appeared to me that anything beyond a cursory mention was given. And there was no resolution, really. He won (after everyone around him died) and that was it.

Like I said, I loved the movie for a long time but not for any philosophical message. I always thought that the philosophy of the movie was cursory and haphazard, at best - even as a kid. But it was a fun movie. And the remake was boring.

634 Oh and Rolling Stone COMPLETELY threw Jackie under the bus.

The entire defense was that Rolling Stone and Erdley just cared so damn much about rape victims they were taken in by a fraud and a liar and someone who totally convinced them she was real.
__________________________

That's such bullshit. They were taken in because they wanted to be taken in.

Most people who read the story knew immediately it was made up. First, it was almost word for word the same plot line as that Jodie Foster gang-rape movie from the 1980's: girl gets gang-raped atop glass-top pinball machine by drunk, unruly frat boys egging each other on; one reluctant observer is shamed into participating by the others, who question his manhood and mock his small dick.

What are the odds that some random chick at UVA would be gang-raped in almost exactly the same way as Jodie Foster's character was gang-raped in an '80's movie? It was ludicrous, and should have raised the suspicions of any rational reporter.

Then there was the fact that the UVA girl had supposedly been beaten and gang-raped for several hours straight, atop broken glass, and yet somehow she had no injuries? Again, ludicrous and totally unbelievable. Yet Erdley swallowed the entire crock of bull, without question. Then there was the fact that the girl kept changing the key details of her story -- the number of attackers, the name of the guy who was her date, the time/place it happened, etc.

The entire story was such obvious bullshit, that it should have set off all kinds of warning bells in any listener with even a couple of functioning brain cells. But True Believer Erdley was not interested in the truth. She just wanted a salacious story that she could use to advance her Campus Rape Narrative.

I hope the jury comes back with a 9-figure damages award.

Well, one of the problems, I think, is that because they scattered all releases, it made it hard to do a comprehensive story out of the bad behavior exhibited in them. Be it screwing over Bernie, the private server wrongdoings, or Clinton's two-faced cynicism. At the start, reporters only had bits and pieces of each story-line. Call me naive, but I think the media would have had a harder time resisting covering Wikileaks if they'd released the whole kitten-caboodle with summaries of the newsworthy emails.

Republican Todd Young is surging against Evan Bayh in the Indiana US Senate race. This shouldn't be happening, but it is. Evan Bayh is both former governor and former Senator. He was on Barack Obama's short list for VP. His father, the late Birch Bayh, was also an Indiana senator. (The late Birch Bayh was also one of the most corrupt members in the history of the US Senate but that's another story.)

I think this is possiblya nationalindicator, not a black swan anomaly. The obscure Republican candidate should not be surging at this point in the campaign.

The mystery for the coroners of this tragicomic accidental death will be the Harry Reid-like bruises around his eyes and ribs, and the impressive bondage knot & contortion skills Anthony was able to display in getting himself suspended with both 'self helping' hands already tied firmly tied behind his back.
