Brownshirt Media: Esquire Tries To Shame Celebrities Into Making Political Declarations [Warden]

So, I stumbled upon this tweet today.

The author of this slimy piece is the deputy editor at Esquire. It's an unbelievably lazy article, mostly full of pictures, so don't bother reading it. A 5th grader could do better.

But the aim of it is both chilling and enraging. Repulsive left-wing totalitarians like John Hendrickson want to insert their political agenda into literally every last corner of American life and punish not just those who disagree with them, but also those who wish to simply NOT engage in politics every single waking minute of their day.

As the saying goes, "You will be made to care."

The press, even in its current diminished capacity, has immense power to shape opinion and culture. It also has at its fingertips, the ability to ruin private citizens at a whim.

With such power should come the utmost prudence, but the American media behaves more like a bunch of sociopathic 4 year olds than responsible adults in the exercise of it.

Wannabe bullies like John Hendrickson should think very carefully about what they are doing. What skeletons in his closet does he have, I wonder? Because more than a few folks out there are entertaining funding private investigations of people like him after the election.

And, after all, how could one credibly complain about this after declaring that Taylor Swift is "not a private citizen"? If she isn't, then neither are you, pal.

World Series Thread Below! [ace]: Anyone interested in the game should probably post below, where like-minded people are talking about the Local Sports Team and its chances against the Other Sports Organization.

Honestly? I'm not showboating: I do not know who the hell is playing in the series. I didn't even realize the series was upon us until Misanthropic Humanoid mentioned that Brent wanted to do posts about it.

And who never would be missed - who never would be missed!

There's the pestilential nuisances who write for Esquire -

All Democratic candidates who have flabby hands and irritating laughs -

All SJW who are demand attention -

All persons who in shaking hands, punch you in the dick -

And all media poobahs who are spoiling life-

22 OK, the following rant got willowed (which usually happens to me because I read the posts AND the comments and by that time the Corgi Mob has moved on to a new squirrel sighting.

Anyway, this time I will not meekly crawl back into my lurking cave. Here is the cut-and-paste. (Please, not the Barrel. NO, not the barrel.) Here is is again:

I've just been watching Trump live at Kinston, NC. He is the most
dynamic politician (perhaps because he is NOT a politician, NOT a lawyer
and NOT in bed with anyone) that I have witnessed in my life. That is
saying a lot, because one of my childhood memories involves the election
of FDR and Truman in 1944. I was not quite old enough to vote for JFK,
but supported LBJ and Hubert Humphrey before I wised up.

If you
have not discovered Right Side Broadcasting, they are covering all of
Trump's appearances live, like the one still going on in NC, and posting
them immediately on YouTube. They are the ONLY ones that are showing
Trump's crowds. Every so often they pan the camera around to show the
massive, enthusiastic crowds that The Donald is drawing. He has actually
challenged other crews to do so, and they refuse to do so. It is very,
very telling that they don't want the American people to see the
groundswell of support he is gaining. Google Right Side and you will see
live links when something is going on (which is a LOT more than one
might imagine with this Energizer Bunny of a candidate) or view the
appearances in YouTube links.

He is amazing, full of ideas,
talking often off the cuff, in charge of his facts, a leader in every
regard. He is speaking for US, the people of the United States of
America.

I have long believed that what this country needs is a
manager in the job of Chief Executive, for that is what the job calls
for. We do not need a lawyer, a politician, a paid-off syncophant -- no,
we need a MANAGER. That is what Trump is, and we need him oh so badly.
That's his promise. If he fails, our nation will fall. It's that simple.
We are at the brink, and we can either turn back or drop into the
abyss.

Ruthless, you mentioned earlier reading Crippled America, right? I read/reviewed that last year.

I agree with you.

Missed your review, but I was amazed about how few mentions his book has gotten during the almost a year and a half since it came out. He spelled it all out, and the MSM didn't notice. Or, didn't choose to notice, which is a far more dastardly failure of reportage.

I was trained as a journalist when the art was striving to become a profession. I gained a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 1961 from the top-rated journalism school in the nation. But for at least 20+ years I have been ashamed of what journalism has become.

I get my news here and at other online sites, and never from the MSM. My last straw was about ten years ago when I watched the CNN coverage of the Katrina disaster. It was incredible to me that those idiots could stand there in front of a camera and just make sh!t up like it was fairy tale time. I was not trained to do that. The turnaround in journalism came when the Watergate witch hunt took place, and it has devolved ever since. The National Enquirer has become the model for the "profession" of journalism.

Also the black vote so far is about the same level as it was in 2012, which is about 2-3% lower than 2008.

All these are good signs for NC.

111 No Anna, just noting how Carter would never have risen to even Asst. Sec. level absent the dramatic lowering of standards on the Dem side commencing with the Clinton years (during which he was, in fact, an Asst. Sec.). Which became far, far worse since 2009, of course.

And as I noted, he is Marshall-like in comparison to his peers in the administration. Not a bad guy. His entre to it all was some pretty lame anti-SDI agitation back in the 80s, trading off of dubious scientific credibility. He was wrong about all that of course, but he wasn't just a hack.

113 I like your enthusiasm. I don't quite share your view of Trump. He is refreshingly different, I'll agree

I am enthusiastic, but more from fear and despair than true optimism. Like many of us I went into a depression when the Obamanation was re-elected. For several months I could not bear to read anything about what was going on. I could not believe that our nation had been betrayed by its own "citizen voters," the LIV FSA made up of idiots who apparently have multiplied like rats everywhere you look. I even stopped coming to AOSHQ for a month or more, the only time since being booted out of Little Green Furballs that I have not been lurking here.

If Hillary is elected, I believe our nation is doomed. I am glad to be old and not a young person looking forward to a future of black despair. Let's hope we can back away from that black abyss and begin to rebuild our great nation. If we do not, there is no future worth having.

LOL.

The "poor people" only have shit because the rich people invented and manufactured it for them. It's the rich people's fault that the world now has over 7 billion living on it. Most of those 7 billion certainly couldn't support themselves. They owe their very existences to the rich people they so despise. Shit, even Europe didn't really have decent toilet paper until a few decades ago ... but at this point the Venezuelans have been lucky enough to have been able to destroy the toilet paper industry in their country. They didn't even know what toilet paper was until recently. Easy come .. easy go for the "poor people" who li9ke to shit all over everything and then complain that no one is stopping them from shitting all over everything.

122 I tire of men pompously defying baseball.

You discovered the conservative ethos through either good fortune or good parenting.

Baseball, like capitalism, reading books, Christianity and physical exertion are all exalted glories of life... for a reason.

Just because you haven't opened the correct door in your mind to allow the diamond to seduce you, doesn't mean your opinion transcends that of George Will and 75% of the men who have served in the military in the last century.

Baseball is like radiohead.

Either discover it on your own or miss out... but don't carry around this bucket of hogwash about baseball somehow not being inextricably linked to American global superiority and act like your opinion is somehow valid in the face of the granite tradition of America's past time.

An American, British and Soviet doctor are talking about their most complicated operations. The American doctor says that brain surgery is the most difficult. The British doctor says that open heart surgery is the most daunting. The Soviet doctor says that tonsillectomies are the most complicated surgery in the Soviet Union. The American and British doctor ask, "Why is a tonsillectomy so complex."

"Through the rectum??! Why on Earth would you do that?"

180 Agree, but there's also another angle. If people vote, it should be because they have made an informed choice, not because someone they admire in another context is guiding their horde of followers to vote a certain way.

What this guy is doing is agitating for the dumbing down of how ordinary citizens vote, as if that were necessary. To put it in another context, celebrity endorsements, let's say a tobacco company were trying to get her followers to smoke their cigarette, by the mere fact of her popularity, without reference to the health risks involved. The left would be the first to point out that this is an unethical use of her star power. What this person is advocating is just as bad. Worse, since 4 years of Hillary is more toxic than 4 years of smoking.

first, don't.
if you must, but don't know enough about the issues or candidates, ask someone.
there's always some earnest busybody who will urge you to vote one way or another, like celebrities.
when you get that opinion, it's always a good bet to vote against what they suggest to you. at the very least, you will have cancelled their vote and done no harm.
the very last persons you ought to pay any attention at all to are the candidates. they are, by definition, lying.

264 The generations immediate to the founding did not need a test. And it's not a cult of personality that sways the current set of voters. It's celebrity, and yes, there is a distinction.

Hey, instead of codifying methods to have the Left exclude voters, why not change the culture instead?

Too hard? Well, buddy, that's the problem.

No franchise law is going to get you to the end point you want. The thought that a new law is going to solve political problems is contrary to conservatism and it almost guarantees unintended results.

Think about DOMA; a solid, palpable law. Black letter law on starchy white paper. Passed. That solved the potential problem, right?

Nope. It gave the Left the lever to turn the whole issue on its head and allow the Men in Black Dresses to approve.
Posted by: weft cut-loop at October 26, 2016 09:19 PM (EIOkK)

I'd rather we install a stop gap measure that's worked for citizenship as a way to stem the tide of a social culture that's already in the toilet. Not sure we've got time for your long game. I get your point, but you're trying to preserve a balance long since gone. If you don't think we're already over a cliff, you may want to pay attention. Enough illegals on the voter roles, bought and paid for with government welfare means you will never see a conservative in office again. Ever.

Your notion of fairness and equality will be lost to history along with this country at that point. And that point is just around the corner.

425 we had a director from ACM labs over today talking about all the latest std testing trends and whatnot. it was more interesting than it sounds.

like, she was saying they got a new machine and they were working out the kinks, one of them being the amount of mucosa in female swab samples gumming up the pipettes. they got around that by spinning the invalid samples so it went down to maybe 5% rejected of the remaining.

which, when you do 300 or so a day adds up. they then hopefully fall back on cultures, if the provider did one.

I may put a couple Trump signs up--inside a circle of toe poppers.

Claymores would be overkill.

443 433 I hear people talk about how glad they'll be when this is all over. They seem to think Nov 9 2016 will be the end of this ugliness, as if the election is what's got people at each other's throats - they mistake the fever for the disease.

I'm now seeing all the "we really need to come together now" posts on Facebook.

Usually they are from the ones that a week ago were calling anyone that was going to vote for Trump a racist.

Yeah, I remember that, and I won't forget it, so don't plan on me being all warm and fuzzy when the election is over, either way.

The ONT? It was the politician at the fuse box with NSA Bob's fist shorting the power out.

450 I must study politics and war so that a cob may have the liberty to insist we all play together.

451 Repulsive left-wing totalitarians like John Hendrickson want to insert their political agenda into literally every last corner of American life and punish not just those who disagree with them, but also those who wish to simply NOT engage in politics every single waking minute of their day.

I missed this thread because I watching the World Series, but this exactly the sort of thing that Bob Dylan had to put up with back in the 60s.

The Left thought they owned him and that it was his job to write "protest songs". After awhile he said "fuck that shit, I'll write what I want".

The Left never forgave him for refusing to speak out against the Vietnam War and for not appearing at antiwar rallies.

455 I'm pretty sure Duane Johnson is a republican. Taylor Swift probably is too. She seems to like to keep the money she earns instead of letting it get thieved by the gov't. She's too good at her business not to be.
