Wednesday Night's ONT is Sick [Weirddave]

Sick and tired, that is. I'm sick and tired of all this. Sick and tired of this election, sick and tired of the media, sick and tired of narcissistic assholes, sick and tired of control freaks and bastards justifying their racism and greed in the name of “justice”. I'm sick and tired of the giant dumpster fire of dog shit and clowns that America 2016 seems determined to be.

So there will be none of that on this ONT. Tonight's ONT is dedicated to fun, amusement and good news.

All that other crap will be back in the morning, same rat time, same rat channel.

Meet LynLee Hope

baby-born-twice-.jpg

Cute baby, right? Well, she is all of that, but LynLee also happens to have been born twice.

"LynLee didn't have much of a chance," Boemer said. "At 23 weeks, the tumor was shutting her heart down and causing her to go into cardiac failure, so it was a choice of allowing the tumor to take over her body or giving her a chance at life.
"It was an easy decision for us: We wanted to give her life."

Still, Cass said, the tumor in this case was so large a "huge" incision was needed to get to it, so it ended up that the baby was "hanging out in the air... Essentially, the fetus is outside, like completely out, all the amniotic fluid falls out, it's actually fairly dramatic," said Cass.
During the surgery, LynLee's heart slowed down to an incredibly low rate. "It basically stopped," said Cass. He credits the heart specialist, a key member of the team, for giving the right medication and transfusing the right amount of fluid, allowing the surgeons to continue their work.
The surgical team removed the bulk of the tumor. When they finished their operation, the surgeons placed LynLee back inside the womb and sewed her mother's uterus shut.
"It's kind of a miracle you're able to open the uterus like that and seal it all back and the whole thing works," said Cass.

They took the baby out of the womb, fixed her, and then put her back into the womb to fully gestate. We truly live in an age of miracles.

Smile!

Can't get enough of babies? Me either. I think we should take a look at Freya. She certainly looks like she's happy to see us:

Baby!.jpg

She's five days old in that picture, and that's only noteworthy because she was born a preemie. Freya's mother was diagnosed with preeclampsia, a condition where the mother's body begins to reject the placenta as a foreign object. Freya was born by emergency c-section at 28 weeks, and five days later she smiled for her daddy.

"I was talking to her and I had said, 'Should we send a picture to Daddy?' and right when I was about to take the picture, she had this huge smile. It was a picture that I had always wanted to get out for people to see because of how it touched me [in] the way that it did. We gave a copy to the nurses, and when we went to have our second little girl, they still had it hanging up in their break room."

Preeclampsia is no joke. I have a friend who started feeling “funny” at 22 weeks. Her doc told her to rest and monitor the situation, but she has a strong sense something was wrong and went to the ER. Good thing she did, because they rushed her into surgery for an emergency c-section. Emmy was born weighing 14 ounces.

Emmy was in the hospital longer than she was in the womb, but today she is a perfectly healthy teenager.

Kickass Music

Queen’s “We Will Rock You” is one of the most instantly-identifiable stadium anthems of all time.
But the iconic U.K. band also recorded a rapid-fire version in 1977 for DJ John Peel that wholly abandons the track’s two-stomp-clap beat. It’s a clear counter to the emergence of punk, and it’ll blow your hair back.

Long a staple of their live shows, this fast version will finally be released on Nov 4. You can hear it at the link.

When I was on the road with the machines sometimes I'd take the saw in the shop. Once I went in and they all turned and looked at that saw, and then looked at me. "That's a man's saw you got there, boy."

Love it.

"Yes sir. And I am looking for a man to run it all day for me on this fine Alabama Summer's Day. Can any of you help me?"

No takers.

100 Beautiful. Thanks, WD.

I'm literally at this minute emailing around about the shower for my best friend's second grandchild.

Her first grandchild was born a few months ago with irreparable brain damage (genetic, as it turned out) and didn't make it. As wonderful as it is to have this new baby on the way, my friend's older daughter is still processing the death of her newborn girl. She and her husband are planning to try again ASAP though. They're a resilient family and in time will be blessed with many grand babies.

For some people, Trump is someone you can vote for, as opposed to selecting because he is less annoying than Obama.

Trump might actually be the guy who sticks a firehose into
DC, and administers the long-overdue enema. Romney might recommend a high-fiber diet, but would not enforce it.

Part of the reason I find Obama to be deplorable is his opposition to Illinois' Born Alive Infant Protection Act. Only a truly repugnant person can learn that children can survive abortion attempts and still demand unfettered access to the act throughout pregnancy, and that is without even mentioning that he had no qualms with abandoning babies into a broom closet without any care until they died.

There's a growing distrust of media, youth voting is going to be about 50% which helps Trump, it's hard to see a huge number of blacks and Latinos going out of their way to vote for the old, white bitch, Hillary's rallies seem staged with union people and students, and there's those constant reports we get from morons in liberal places talking about the lack of Hillary signs.

I plan on drinking heavily and hoping for a Brexit surprise.

And if the bitch wins, it'll be a pyrrhic victory. $90 to $200 Trillion in unfunded liabilities, populations of western countries about to snap, debt bubbles about to burst. If the bitch wants to steal that, let her have it.

310 This isn't so totally "politics" as to be offensive to the ONT, as it is a bit cultural and an historic artifact. Even though it is a 1980 novel, it's a novel which told a vital truth then, and is just as valid today, if not more so.

I read it back in first paperback edition, and it resonated deeply, then. I had seen so much deliberate mis-reporting by the news media of the day, as well as noting that media's absolute silence on topics, stories and other information which would run counter to their narrative.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spike_(novel)

excerpt:

The Spike is a 1980 spy thriller novel by Arnaud de Borchgrave and Robert Moss (New York: Crown Publishers, 1980). Drawing on de Borchgrave's experience as a jet-setting Newsweek journalist and conservative Washington insider, it tells the story of a radical '60s journalist, Bob Hockney, who stumbles upon a Soviet plot for global supremacy by 1985. When he tries to expose the web of blackmail, sex and espionage, he's hamstrung by his editors' liberal media bias.

I would strongly encourage Teh Horde to track down copies of this book, and give it a read.

Plus, it's laden with cheap, tawdry, amateurishly written sex, so that's pretty much Moron bait, right there!

Given that most folks younger than a certain age have likely never heard of, much less read that book, it might be a good eye opener for them.

Frankly, they ought to run a new edition of it. Not being an Amazonian myself, I wonder...is it out there in Kindle-ville?

I have said since the early primaries that Trump is the only Republican who could potentially win by a landslide.

I hesitate to come right out and predict it, though. Vast swathes of the American people are either stupid, dependent on the government, brainwashed by the MSM, or are consciously evil Leftists. I also expect vote fraud to reach record proportions this year.

I've taped so many movies off of TCM I'm almost ashamed to say. I haven't watched any but a handful yet ... but I have them in the private library for just that time that I want to see them. Whenever I look over what TCM is playing for the next month I almost want to tape everything, although I've gotten to the point now where I already have a lot of them.

MGM also plays a lot of good classic movies. They have a single 2 minute commercial in the middle, which is not too bad - though I remember when the big thing about cable was that, since we had to pay for the channels, there were no commercials! Yeah ... way back in the prehistory a couple of decades ago.

Now, channels like IFC and AMC are pretty much unwatchable for all the commercials - in addition to having to pay for them.

329 Hey Weird Dave thanks for the great ONT Lynlee is a real charmer Cute as a button. "And so shines a good deed in a weary world."

Oh! And the drawing arms thing ~ heh that was a hoot.

A real palate cleanser.

On a serious note ~ the lumberjack thing reminded me of an episode when I was in the Boy Scouts. Kid had a pretty big hunting knife and was opening a package form home. He took the knife, held it, commando style, and tore open the package wrapper and string slicing downward and toward himself, but the package and string tore pretty fast. Faster, unfortunately then he had considered and the knife kept going down and into his thigh, almost halfway up the blade, severing his femoral artery. Well I don't have to tell most of you morons what that means. Anyway he instinctively puled the knife out and, well, you guys remember those slasher movies from the 80s? ~ yeah, it was pretty much like that. Well the screams form al of us, including my fellow campmate, must have been bloodcurdling as our scoutmaster (a recent NYFD retiree) came running into the tent and, along with two there assistant scoutmasters , was able to apply pressure directly to the wound with his amazing adrenaline aided strength. They maintained the pressure, staunching the blood, until after they had landed m on an ambulance and gotten him to a trauma center ( His arm was cramped for days afterward). Saved his damn life. What a lucky sunofabitch ~ I tell you that. He should have been dead. So ~ all you morons out there be careful with chainsaws and sharp knives and destructive tools of any kind please.

350 Fritz Lang's 'Spione' is freaking amazing. A silent movie, but all about spies and such, as the title implies. Femme fatale, agents known only by code numbers. Soviets are the bad guys, and a real plot-twist that shocks the first time you see it. Horde-worthy.

351 "The Tonton Macoutes were Papa Doc's secret police."

Perhaps "personal militia" would be more apposite.

There wasn't much secret about Uncle Basket. They had a very distinctive set of appurtenances, down to the specific type of sunglasses, and an arrogant swagger. They knew their role was to intimidate.

The successors of the Macoute are just as bad.

During USMC missions in Haiti in recent years, Marine NCOs have had to work at keeping their Marines from forcibly venting their disgust at the Haitian irregulars. Some of whom "just need killin'", in the old Texas vernacular.

++++

That's not true. Widescreen was reintroduced in the 50's to compete with TV. But, widescreen was actually first used in 1897. It was coming into wide use (pun intended) in the late 20's. It was discontinued after the great depressions to save money.

https://infogalactic.com/info/Widescreen

Then, just as now, the studios were competing with each other. If you want the public to come to your movie instead of the other guy's, it helps if yours has something to make it stand out.

About a month ago, the Mrs and I discovered a lump on the side of one of our dogs. This is the littermate to the one that had her spleen removed last December that was cancerous. So, we took the dog to the vet, vet sticks a syringe in to see what is in there, gets something out, looks at it, can't figure out what it is, but says it wasn't good. Sends it to lab, comes back as cancer.

Last thursday he had surgery to remove it, he now has about a 10 inch incision on his side. Doc calls this morning, they got it. They got the tumor and enough of the surrounding tissue so that it didn't spread.

Other day someone mentioned how obama may pardon hillary on his way out of office to clear the decks for her. the question unpleasantly occurred to me, "would hillary blow obama if he would pardon her?" my guess is yes. she would have one of her aides help her down onto her rickety old knees, even hold her up by her hair if necessary.

started wondering, is there something she would not do if it would get her the presidency? conversely, what would she do to get the presidency?

404 i think one of the weird things about living where i do, is that though we are in California and we see all the stupidness we live in whats left of what was a huge Dairy preserve. what had been the biggest in the nation. its mostly gone and being phased into a rabbit warren of homes now but the area that has its original residents is still deep red. they keep trying to transplant people from Los Angeles and especially compton into the neighborhood but they keep moving out unless they settle in, go to church and decide we remind them of where they came from, long ago, before they settled in LA. (happens more often than you think) those people we welcome with open arms. But when we had hoods at the Greek burger joint casting dark looks at the rodeo queens, out of town Ropers, and young Hispanic families, they were made to understand their kind wasnt wanted and would be forciby ejected if they didnt leave on their own. It didnt take much, the old man at the burger joint let the cops know all their meals there were free. Presto! no more problem. Lots of cops always nearby in that shopping center too. YAY US!

We are WORSE.

Weird as it sounds, the reason they exposed unwanted babies is because they had moral and religious scruples about killing them directly. For a human to smother, strangle, poison, or chop up its own newborn was to violate the order of the cosmos in a most despicable way.

Exposing the baby left its fate in the hands of the gods. Perhaps the infant had a special destiny and Fortuna would somehow contrive its rescue. Or perhaps it would be devoured by wild beasts. Only the gods could decide. Man had no right to make the choice himself and inflict certain death on a helpless, innocent child.

So, as awful as exposure was, it was a moral step above
the barbaric Planned Parenthood mentality.

Why not, indeed!
Inducing labor and delivering the baby live is the safest way to terminate a pregnancy. Even a C-section is far safer for the mother than trying to burn, poison, or dismember the baby while it's inside her.

Which they already have with RU-486, not to mention having FREE access to pretty much every sort of birth control available.

Aside from the fact that Roe was such an awful decision, purely from a Constitutional and logical point of view, the truth is that pretty much none of the circumstances that existed in the 70s exist anymore. Unwed mothers are not shunned in any way, shape, or form. Birth control is freely available to pretty much anyone who asks - in fact in many schools I think kids have to go out of their way not to have free birth control shoved in their faces (pretty much telling them that "normal" kids that age are having sex all the time and that they are weird if they don't), and even if some states were to ban abortions it's obvious that there would always be a nearby state only a bus trip away that would provide them. But, of course, for a leftist anything over a two block walk is a "hardship" for a girl who got knocked up (even given all these opportunities for birth control and after the fact RU-486) and wants to get an abortion 30 minutes after the idea finally pops into her mind.

You do know that Jimmy Stewart was an actual bomber pilot in WW II right? And that he remained in the Air Force reserve where he reached the rank of Brigadier General. The B58 Hustler was a very difficult plane to fly; the Air Force put its best bomber pilots flying those, and he flew one of those near the end of his career. Strategic Air Command is worth watching.

And why is the incredibly lovely gal who played his wife's name escaping me.
I mean besides old age.
Also enjoyed The Glen Miller Story.
Three movies I'd love to find in the $5 bin.

492 Ah yes. Looked her up.
June Allyson.
Dad named both of my sisters. Younger sis, Allyson.
Any bets?
And mom told me she named me after a movie producer. Rare name at the time. Started getting used more in the 80's.

Oh, yeah, 'peasant' cooking or 'Food in the Age of Progressives'.

I make soup for the reason you mentioned: Cheap, filling and one uses up odds and ends in the fridge. Whenever I make a beef soup, e.g., I buy cheap cuts of meat (chuck, shin, etc.), make a stock from the bones, then cook the tough meat a long time. Being retired due to a disability, cooking something a long time is not a hassle anymore; in fact, it gives me something to do (as well as something to eat).

I know whenever I make my soups from scratch, starting with the bones, my grandmas, my favorite aunt and my Mom are all looking down, smiling, telling each other, 'At least someone was paying attention to us when we were alive and cooking'.

I even buy those partially whole chickens, just breasts on the bone, remove the breasts and make my stock from that carcass; that's much cheaper than buying boneless chicken breasts, plus you get the homemade stock. If there is any meat on the bone when I'm done, I'll make a small quickie chicken salad sandwich for a lunch. I firmly believe in the old adage: Waste not, want not.

Except for the "Epic Must Watch" video, which I couldn't because it wouldn't play. Better link?

500 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, October 27, 2016. On this day in 1838 Missouri governor Lilburn Boggs issued the "Extermination Order", which ordered all Mormons to leave the state or be exterminated. This followed an open battle between the Mormons and the State militia over activities in MO. Why can't we do that with the muzzies?

Very rare, most all MSM cartoons showing Trump as an asshole....Still haven't seen one Hillary lawn sign in upstate NY....local election signs and some Trump...Don't ever remember an election without seeing lawn signs for both sides.

503 Hay, teej. Early November is right, I think. Nobody's giving me a firm date yet.

The route is one I've traveled a lot. West on I-80 to Des Moines, South on I-35 to KC and down past Joplin on I-49. That's where it gets fun...OK59 over hill and dale to Cookson.

Lunch sounds great. So does meeting you.

I've spent a lot of time in the Nauvoo area. The locals were not without justification in their objections. They saw Mormonism the same way we see Islam...as a political system masquerading as a religion.

509 Phew! Hangover is beginning to lift. I found half a bottle of red wine yesterday and decided to celebrate cleaning out a closet, in defiance of my sgutty GI tract. Awoke at 2:00 with a roaring thirst and dull headache. Came down to find half the last glass of wine sitting on the desk and an incoherent ramble on the screen.

The worst part is, I've already packed the aspirin.

511 I wasn't born twice, but back in 1964, my mother birthed me at 24 weeks. I weighed less than 2 pounds. And it was all about the nurses. My mother remembers that I received theophylline (opens airways) and oxygen...fed by tubes for a while, but I needed monitoring because I would not always breathe. The nurses pinched my feet or put cold water on my neck. I was home around my actual birth date in July and I had tripled my birthweight. I apparently never lagged behind my peers, even outpacing them for a time...Nature and nurtured. Tried to obtain my records at 35 to write a book, but they had been destroyed after 25. A total bummer.
Good for LynLee Hope, And Emily! There have been other babies who have had surgeries, pre birth, I believe...but it appears this was a different reason....Totally awesome!

Without a federal bailout, Illinois is sunk. I mean sunk-sunk. Every time a budget deal is passed, The Illinois SC kills it. Gotta pay for those state retiree's before anything else.

When Ocare rates go up, the Emergency Rooms will be maxed out. Hospitals will close cuz of lack of money.

This State is just plain efffed. If I didn't have land and a Family Tradition here, I would be out.

First frost here on the Niagara Frontier. Some slushy wintry mix too, but I wouldn't call it "snow." Melting as it hits the ground. If it ain't white and it ain't staying on the ground, it ain't snow in my book.

The US Government had to fight The Mormon Wars to get Mormons to give up polygamy. And now the US Government is importing polygamists by the boatload, even going so far as to give them benefits for their one wife and three 'girlfriends'.

525 I always had great respect for Mormons aside from any personal opinions about the religion itself. At my last job I worked with two Mormon ladies, one middle aged, one in her twenties, and like most Mormons I've known they were among the nicest, most decent, good-hearted people I've ever known. There are very few Mormons where I live, but this has been my experience.

But the Utah Mormons have really pissed me the fk off this election cycle. And I just love love love the great state of Utah. For this northeasterner, it's like visiting another planet, and I mean that in the best way. Such awesome scenery. Such primitive grandeur. Makes me appreciate just what a vast country we live in. Always been treated well by Mormons on my trips to Utah. But these days, they are just pissing me off.

527 The lib lawyers in the office next to ours still haven't removed the Bernie stickers from their cars and replaced them with Hillary stickers. And the lesbian Janet Neapolitan a look-alike across the street that always had Dem yard signs for every election the past 10 years has nothing. Several Trump yard signs in our neighborhood but with plenty of illegals around here they are risking vandalism. On a campng trip last weekend in rural Georgia last weekend it was 100% Trump signs, lots of them. The only visible support I see for Hillary seems to be limited to liberal Facebook acquaintances that are still very vocal and insane as ever and driven by hate of conservatives.
