Amy Schumer, Serial Plagiarist, Accused of Cultural Apporpriation

This story is so stupid I would not bother you with it except that it involves Amy Schumer, who Hector thinks is totally smoking hot.

Amy Schumer made a really low-budget and lame "parody video" of a Beyonce song. A song I only heard of once, but forgot where I'd heard of. Apparently it was that anti-police/Black Panther tribute she did in the Superbowl that people complained about. It's called "Formation," and it's about stupid shit, like Black Lives Matter and female empowerment or whatever.

She totally takes back the word "bitch" and stuff. And from what I hear, she's earned that right.

Anyway, spherical sketch-burglar Amy Schumer called up her Three Friends and they did the sort of aren't-we-cute lipsyncing crap that you used to see all over the place on YouTube before people grew up and realized straight-up copyright infringement was where the real money was at.

Remember those days? When you'd go "Hey I want to hear Billy Squier's 'Lonely is the Night'" and so you click on a video and it turns out it's three Bieberesque teens pretending to play wicked air guitar and mussing each other's hair and doing all sorts of coyly homoerotic shenanigans?

God, I miss those days. Those hot, hot days when men where men and boys were adorable and no one questioned it at all when you casually said, "You know, no homo and all, but I look at this sexy kid from 'Hanson' and your mind can't help but go there, and by 'there' I mean his hot mouth."

Anyway, people only slightly less atrocious than Schumer herself are accusing her of "racism" for daring to feature white women lip-syncing to a black woman's song they obviously like a lot.

White people, even white trolls like Schumer, simply aren't allowed to "take" from Queen Bey or whatever.

Below, Beyonce's "Formation" and Amy Schumer's tedious, stupid cheap "parody."

I strongly recommend you ignore everything about this post, including the link above, and just talk about whatever you like.

Holy shit that's terrible. That's like when Clarice Starling is like "Did that lunatic just spit on me?" then she realizes "Holy damn, that's not spit."

Nothing can be worse than that.

Except: if you add in Amy Schumer shaking her bulbous thunderbug ass into the camera.

Take it from somebody who worked in the Nuclear Power Industry for over
30 years. It needs to remain a regulated private industry. The only
thing I would change is who does the regulating. I would totally take it
away from Washington and give it to the States. I would also fix it so
that interveners get one shot in the courts and that is it.

That
is what is causing the death of nuclear power, endless chained civil
suits which stops construction, one after another. All the while eating
up interest costs on billions of dollars in loans. For which the
interveners always lose but NEVER have to pay the legal costs.

The
problem with Washington being the regulators is that people like dirty
hairy get to be in charge they kill it for years until they can be
bounced out of control.

But no, it was just nihilism, hedonism, and gibberish.

127 I had forgotten how good Dickens is.

After finishing the Donna Tartt book, "The Goldfinch," which had her doing a Dickensian ending paragraph, I got to thinking about rereading "A Tale of Two Cities."

After he sets the tone of the times (1775, sounds a lot like where we'll be pretty soon with The Haggard Queen on the throne) he goes into live action, at night, uphill in the mud, on a trip with the Dover mail.

The sweating muddy horses are balking, the guards are nervously checking weapons as a stranger is heard approaching, passengers have been made to walk to lighten the load on the the team. It is a fabulous scene and it is only the opener.

I'm gonna take my time getting through it, so savor every word. It'll be much better than the Donna Tartt novel.

199 As her husband Jay Z likes to remind us, "B.K. is from Texas." It's fitting, then, that Beyoncé's home state is paying homage to her groundbreaking work.

Cosmopolitan reports that The University of Texas at San Antonio will offer a course exploring Lemonade as a "meditation on contemporary Black womanhood" and feminism.

Professor Kinitra Brooks will teach the thrice-weekly "Black Women, Beyoncé, and Popular Culture" course.

"The purpose of this class is to explore the theoretical, historical, and literary frameworks of Black feminism, which feature prominently in Lemonade," the course description reads. "We will use Lemonade as a starting point to examine the sociocultural issues that are most prominent in Black womanhood through Black feminist theory, literature, music, and film."

Writings from Toni Morrison, Gloria Naylor, and other prominent Black female writers will also be read and discussed.

Okay....

So, I was drinking this new witbier from Avery Brewing Co, called "Liliko'i Kepolo" that has passionfruit in it.

And the passionfruit flavor of the beer reminded me of the time I was temporarily stationed at Olongapo in the Philippines and every morning I had this big bowl of fruit salad that had mango and passionfruit in it.

Well, every day after I finished my breakfast, I'd go outside and one of those huge Philippine fruit bats would fly down and carry me off to work down at the air field. Filipinos use their giant fruit bats like we would use taxis, but you need to have a piece of passionfruit for the fare.

Anyway, that day instead of taking me to my meeting with the Colonel of the squadron, the fruit bat carried me out to sea and dropped me on top of a big sperm whale. But, I caught stuck in his blowhole and the whale died of suffocation.

So, there I was floating for months on this dead whale, and let me tell you, I got tired of eating dead whale.

Eventually, the dead whale and I floated to Catalina Island and I waded ashore, and went into a 7-11 and all's I had was a dollar and I told the guy behind the counter, "Hey man, I've been stuck on this dead whale for six months and all's I've had to eat is dead whale for six months, so what do you have that I can eat for this here dollar?"

So, I hand the guy a dollar and he hands me a Slim Jim.

And I eat it.

And it was pretty good.

And that's the first time I ever ate a Slim Jim.

Peter Sellers was really one of a kind, there was nobody around like him back then, either. Insane, but I think that's what it took to be that talented and skilled. He's always so understated, yet memorable.

There were a lot of really great actors around back then, though, most of them from England. If you watch English TV, there are still quite a few around. Watch Amazing Grace and you get almost all of them in one film. Its interesting seeing pre-Sherlock Bandersnatch Cummerbund.

I saw Beyoncé in concert seven years ago (2009) at the Staples Center; the tickets were a birthday gift (from step-mother, who still has no clue after thirty years what I like and don't like, but I digress). The audience was mostly white, liberal women and gay men, with black people scattered about. The whole time I kept shouting that she was a wanna be Tina Turner...during the Ike and Tina days.

And as I always say when it comes to these female pop and R&B singers...once they go straight ho, it is hard to sustain after that, other than their hardcore fans. I offer Janet Jackson, Brittney Spears, Mariah Carey and there are a few others.

Jennifer Grey decided that having work done to "fix" her nose was a good idea. Suddenly her offers started drying up. The thing about Hollywood is you want to either look good but distinctive (Grey) or have some unusual features that get you typecast. Very few beautiful people make it because they tend to blend all together.

Posted by: CaliGirl at October 25, 2016 05:14 PM (Q5Ymk)

Hey CaliGirl! No, she actually sang. She has a nice voice, but she is prone to shouting during live performances. Also, this was around the time Michael Jackson died, so she did a tribute to him by singing "Ave Maria". It was ok. But as I said earlier, she totally patterned herself after a young Tina Turner. And she fails spectacularly at that.

Yeah that was the classic bonehead mistake. She went from cute and quirky to... boring. Whoever advised her or let her do that was an idiot.

Terri Garr, she was the alternate to Goldie Hawn. She played stupid but wasn't and was really funny. And so pretty. It lasted her a long time, too, I think her first role was that weird Star Trek episode that was supposed to be a pitch for Roddenberry's new TV show.

Nearly every "successful" Hollowwood starlet gets work done, either before they are famous or after. The ones who get it done before, as you suggest, have SOMETHING else that stands out... not talent.. don't be silly.

The ones who do it after, when they start to hit their 30s, are the ones who look oddly ordinary, when they shave off and/or stretch whatever it was that made them stand out.

521 I don't know where this belongs so I might as well post here.

Anecdotal stuff, I know is whatever you make of it, but i'm curious if anyone has similar experience. I know the early voting stuff doesn't look great thus far, but make of it what you will.

I feel like something has broken in the last 24 - 48 hours. I don't know if it's the 11th accuser and the media pushing these accusations too far, or just general sense that you are being sold a bill of good by the media, but something just broke.

I have had reliable and great conversations on the election with outside of my immediate family and spouse, 3 people. 1) a hard core Bernie supporter that went all in for Stein, 2) a feminist female engineer, that is supporting Johnson. and 3) a conservative reliable republican, with a libertarian streak, that voted for Cruz in the primaries, and just early voted for Trump. his wife is a Mexican immigrant who was #nevertrump and decided at the last minute to vote for Trump to stop Hillary.

The Johnson supporter seems to be having an existential crisis. She can't see voting for Trump because of the issues e has with women, but I can see cracks, I can tell that she is seeing the waste of her vote, and Clinton/Media machine needs to be stopped. I promised her 16 months ago when I outed myself as a Trump supporter and she didn't understand because "I'm smarter than that" that I wouldn't ever tell her to vote for him. I'm curious though, that over the next two weeks if maybe she comes to it organically just based on what she's seeing in the media.

Stein supporter is full on secret Trump voter, as are his kids and wife, who were all big Bernie/Stein people up til now. Will still promote Stein on social media, and he is a prolific poster for his sphere of influence, but he's all in for Trump on the down low in hopes something kooky happens. They all hate Clinton with the fire of 1000 suns, and think she is a secret conservative republican... so you figure that out.

I saw the same cracks with my friends nevertrump wife that I see with the Johnson supporter a few weeks ago, we watched the second debate with them, and she was pissed, saw crack forming, early voting the other day, she went for Trump... and she must have had a bag of clothespins on her nose to do it.

So I'm curious to see how this plays out. I'm not one for the rigged polling conspiracies, I've been there before in the past.... I've been wrong before. they are what they are, but I have a sense the ground is seismically shifting, and the usual assholes don't see it, or don't want to see it. The Titanic is unsinkable afterall.

I've been watching Shoe0nHead videos to cheer myself up. I highly recommend it, if you're just killing time on the internet. "Check your privilege" and "What kind of feminist are you?" are very entertaining. She gets 31/50 (62%) on her score, and social validation. I think only the patriarchy would give you a D for that, but it's a passing grade, so good for her. I got 26/50 (52% in school grading terms), but only via her video, so I don't know if that makes me a crappy feminist or what, and I don't care. FAIL.

So, my question for the horde this afternoon is, do you know what a "ladyboner" is? Can you wrap your head around that concept?

Of course, if you don't and can't, that's OK. I suppose I would define it as a "virtual hardon" - guys can also have virtual hardons, of course, about things people say that they strongly approve of, or give them strong feelings of validation. Literal turgidity is not a requirement. Same thing with the ladies, whether or not they actually use the term.

A ladyboner could also be something that gets you literally hot and bothered, but usually that would be reserved for, you know, sexually related stuff. I have no idea if the clitoris (the woman's analogue to a penis) becomes engorged. I don't care about that, either.

You're in luck. There are several species of wild turkeys that are native to Mexico and they've been domesticated there for some 1,700 years.

I've had turkey mole poblano many times and it's a tradition in the state of Puebla.

Now for the bad part: turkey chili just isn't real chili. You can make it with beef or pork but turkey is an abomination. I'm sure there are authentic Mexican recipes using turkey that resemble chili, but it's not the right and proper thing to do.

532 Entirely coincidental:

Poll shows Trump leading by 3 in Texas.

ABC Poll has Hillary leading by 12.

Romney won Texas by 15.

Assuming Trump wins by the same number, there's a 12 point bias against him in the polls.

Add that 12 point bias and oh look, it shows Trump tied with Hillary, just as he is with LATIMES, IBDD and Rasmussen.

Entirely coincidental.

535 #526 Miley, nipples, it's turgid nipples

Posted by: Jean at October 25, 2016 05:54 PM (ngn8T)

That analogy doesn't work for me, since my nipples are usually turgid and it has nothing to do with anything. Thank God for padded bras, I say.

537 I read "Lonely is the Night" and conflated it with "Tender is the Night".

I...I am not a cool person. In any way.

LOL.

And I was much older than I should have been before I got the double meaning of the classic chicken joke. Ah well.

540 I will take this seriously when Queen Bey stops bleaching her hair blonde and intruding upon MY cultural legacy, which is German, Scots, and Austrian.

If she loves being black, why does she straighten her hair and bleach it?
