I don't think this is accidental.

9 Normal? Helping out with east Coast storm recovery stuff for a few weeks. Sitting in my hotel room in Fayetteville NC drinking bad coffee - though 99 percent of the time there is really no such thing as truly bad coffee.

Beautiful countryside. I could almost leave the PNW and move here, though the reluctance of Mrs. Skook makes this impossible. Nice for vacation though.

Ok, laundry, expenses, and haircut time.

Jonah still has some misplaced faith in the system. I think it's entirely delusional, and this is likely why he cannot understand the Trump movement.

We have no more faith in the system to regulate or control itself. It's too incestuous, the balancing branches share much more in common with each other than they do with any of us, and the checks-and-balances no longer work.

The only candidate that will be reined in by the current system is the one Jonah refuses to endorse: the outsider Trump.

They were discussing demonic possession and Hillary. They REALLY don't like Clinton. There was one older man who said that he was priest but he wasn't wearing any clerical garb. He wasn't contributing to the discussion-maybe because he doesn't want to talk about possession or is shy about giving his opinion" I also told the Orthodox priest that I put whiteboard signs outside my house sometimes and one several days ago said,"Wikileaks. Hillary campaign manager Podesta denigrates conservative Catholics and Evangelicals. Where will religious freedom be if Hillary is elected?" I told the priest that he could come and visit me in prison if Hillary gets elected and puta smiley face. He wrote back to tell me that I'm very funny. Despite the smiley face he obviously does't realize that I DO think conservative Christians who don't like Hillary might be arrested if she becomes President.

Seems I remember, and could very well be mistaken, that back in the 80's black powder wasn't even classified as a firearm.
Anyone know if that was the case and if so is it still.

Read through the end of the last thread and yes Mama A.J., a double mumble.
Sure hope I get over the nerves. It's not such a bad thing to be just a little nervous going in till you get a couple of songs into it. Helps drive the focus. Then you relax, settle in and let it flow.
But dang. Like this I'm liable to be dropping sticks, putting harps in the neck brace backwards, any number of things.

73 Fenelon, he might realize it and just not want to say anything in writing. Or, he might not.

You would love to hear our priest talk. Naturally he would never come right out and tell anyone for whom to vote, but he did say this: "You need voting advice? Vote like you're Catholic. Period." Everyone there knew exactly what he meant.

He has talked before about the government is increasingly curtailed our religious freedoms, and in our bulletins he has said that he is politically conservative. That's about as far as he can go.

I do live in Libville, but my church is a small bastion of conservative thinkers. It's where we have most of our friends over the 20 plus years we have been going there.

I think the priest at the coffee shop didn't want to share his political opinion because he didn't feel that was appropriate. I didn't get to ask him what church he's was a priest in. Perhaps RC. The Eastern Orthodox priest said at church several weeks ago that this was an important election regarding personal freedoms. but he's not going to say that he knows Hillary is a mean person because he used to work under the umbrella of the State Department when she was SOS.

I have to preach and serve communion the Sunday right before the election. I'll probably say the same sort of thing the Orthodox priest said.

86 Goldberg's statement flies in the face of human nature.

Firstly, on the rare occasions the media disagrees with a Hillary policy (or, less rare, on an instance of corruption) Hillary's not going to care, because she and her party will be in charge.

More to the point, since the media and Hillary believe the same things, it is unlikely the media is going to stop Hillary from doing those things the media likes - especially when Obama and his ogre of a wife get out of "retirement" and start hitting the road on those policies' behalf. It is more likely that the media will be pulling Hillary further to the Left.

Jonah Goldberg doesn't give a shit because he's not in a real profession, that produces real things; he's a Standup Philosopher.

103 About those ghost peppers ~ my son was always on about eating super spicy stuff when he was younger. Well one time we were in Colorado skiing at Breck and went town to Dillon to eat at a place called Pug Ryan's pub (great food btw). Well they had these things called Chernobyl Wings and my son just had to have them. I believe they have ghost pepper on them. Any i'll be damned if we didn't nearly faint from the fumes when they came to the table ~ it was like being hit with pepper spray ( yes ~ I don know what that;s like ~ long story). So my son takes one bite and nearly keels over and has to drink about 2 gallons of water. Then, even though I said "whatever you do use a napkin to eat them and do NOT under any circumstances touch your eyes, what does he do? Of course he touches his eyes necessitating a trip to the restroom to administer a first aid eye washout technique (thanks Boy Scouts!). I mean they really should have an eye wash station in the place ~ just sayin').

So after all that I had to at least try one ~ funny thing ~ after getting over the initial pain and distress ~ they are actually not that bad. But I had to wash my hands a ton of times (even after using only a napkin to hold them before I could even touch any other part of my bare skin and my hands and mouth still hurt of a a day ~ even with neutralizing techniques. Damn me if those weren't some hot wings!

Best part of this ~ my son still loves the spicy stuff ~ and after his eve recovered he even had a few wings himself. He's a trooper.

Oh and Jonah Goldberg ~ that Amigo is officially OUT of the mansion.

And a push poll of Arizona giving Hitlery a .2% lead using a Dem 58 sample? Yeah . . . calling bullsh*t on that one too.

108 If Jonah thinks the MSM will exhibit buyer's remorse during an (ugh) HRC administration, he's either delusional or teeing up a job at CNN after HRC uses the FCC to end Fox and NRO.

For eight years, the MSM proved it won't admit any corruption or mistakes by President Boyfriend. The MSM cheered every additional thumb on every additional scale.

The MSM showed blatant support for The Slimehag when she's not even President. It's stupid and delusional to think the MSM won't go even further once she's in.

Media delenda est. It's a closed system. The j-schools, the scholarships and fellowships, the awards and foundations - its a uniparty with a lockstep ideology that puts the Kremlin and the KGB to shame.

Lots of media get their news from the AP, which is slanted..and which is a nonprofit. Taxpayers fund its BS. The Board of Directors is the membership directory of the MSM. The NYT has two seats.

If the churches lose their tax exemption for advocacy, so should the AP. That would be an interesting cause for the Trumpians, should The Don lose the election.

The left's leaders are united at the top, behind the Creamer style crap that goes on all the time. The are "commies" that are rooted in subversive tactics. They only have to get the LIVs and welfare class to go along, and their controlled media is in on the "commie" takeover. No crime on the left is a real crime, because it is by "fellow travelers" fighting for the "greater good" (defeat of free America).

Ace mentioned the other day the old battle on the left between the Orwell socialists and the totalitarian leftists (iirc). Maybe, idk. But those jamming things through are the totalitarians at heart, like Lois Lerner operating for decades, using the bureaucracy as a weapon, Soros funding BLM, and probably Soros pushing Hillary on regime change in Libya (to bring chaos into "free Europe").

The left's only hope (now that end game is exposing their corruption) is to push the narrative of how unfit Trump is, while calling Hillary the most competent candidate in American history. They are in 2+2=5 territory now.

Rush has been talking lately of how Republicans can't unite on anything, not even on beating Hillary to prevent losing the country forever. There are some "conservative idealists" maybe, but most seem to be establishment connected nuts, that really lean toward totalitarian at heart, as long as they get a gold card membership. Krauthammer, Hayes, Stirewalt ... several at FOX just can't stop themselves from trashing Trump, but brush away Hillary crimes as tolerable.

He has been the victim of a left wing troll attack in support of their narrative that Trump supporters are deplorables. The KKK belt that still exists runs from Vidor TX through Georgia. If you look at a county by county map of voting trends you will see that it is the last remaining Democratic belt in the old south.

That's one of the things that pisses me off the most about her. How can you claim you know all about classified info and treat it with the care and handling it deserves, and yet, when you have a casual convo with the FBI, you say you thought it meant classified. Then, to top it all off, while you are bragging about how you have a Presidential temperament, you publicly confirm, as a former cabinet level official, the launch time for nukes. I got into it on facebook with a lib acquaintance over that one. I explained that publicly known information is different than publicly confirmed information. This is the kind of stuff that infuriates people who hold or held security clearances. We actually know the rules, but oh man, you sure can't explain to people with fingers in their ears.

Posted by: Bigby's Knuckle Sandwich at October 22, 2016 09:53 AM (U0lQa)

We bought a small wooden hand grinder from a local artisan and I am very pleased with it. I think if you're using a quality roasted bean and grind them before making the juice of life, it makes a significant difference.

The only real challenge is finding the grind setting that makes the coffee you like. Too coarse makes weak coffee, too fine just reduces the flow of the water through the basket and you end up with lots of grounds in the final product.

194 145 & 145 Jarhead & Bigby

I don't roast my own but, as I divulged on here a few weeks ago, Mrs. Redux is Colombian ( naturalized US). Her cousins owned a "finca" (Farm/Country house) up in the Andes outside Bolivar which doubled as a coffee plantation. There the men picked the beans sorted them (using the traditional float them in water method) dried and roasted them in a real old fashioned looking roaster device they had there ( most beans went, dried, non roasted for export). Well ~ having the coffee that came out of that process, right then and there, perked, was absolutely exquisite ~ so if you can get the beans fresh and roast them I say go for it ~ not sure if it would taste as good once they shipped overseas ~ but worth a shot. If you can get a good roaster.

As to perking ~ it is the only way to go. We only perk in our house. When people come over they ask what we do to the coffee to make its taste so great ~ the answer: "perk it ~ don't drip it or , blech, french press it for God's Sake." And those old pyrex ones ~ they are the best of them all. More people who love coffee should do it ~ but they think it takes too long ~ in actuality it takes maybe about 10 more minutes or so. But it requires you to pay attention to turn down the stove to perk on a low flame ~ so ~ well ~ think LIVs and you catch my drift.

As to the French Press ~ As I have always said: Never buy a French made anything, except wine and dinner." And, of course, my old favorite about France: "It is the most culturally advanced third world country on planet earth!"

Yeah, logic, common sense, ans a sense of proportion are dead.

Responses I got:
--- Well that's a leap, comparing Hillary's debating skills to negotiating with Putin.
--- Oh sure, women can never talk about being abused by men! I bet you'd tell a rape victim to shut up and not be whiny.
--- How dare you judge Hillary's comments if you've never been stalked!
--- You must be a white, male Trump troll!!!!

211 What I don't like is someone trying to tell me that disrespecting the symbols of the country that gave you that right is a legitimate protest.

*****

I think you can say that ultimately the goal of any protest should be to try to change minds. In order to do that I think you should:

1. Have a goal.
2. Have a proposal for achieving that goal.
3. Have a platform for spreading your message
4. Have an audience for that message.

As far as I can tell The Kaepernick Krowd don't have #1 or #2, have a limited #3 (thankfully) and are rapidly alienating whatever #4 they may have started with. This particular "protest" has all the staying power of that nonsense with dumping the ice water on someone to raise awareness of Lou Gehrig's disease.

So, it's not so much that it's illegitimate, it's just incoherent and self-contradictory.

The domino principle was a valid political theory and remains so. The PI is a major domino, and others in the Pacific Rim will carefully gauge the reaction of the western democracies. Aside from Australia, you will see increased internal and external pressure in Japan and the ROK to rejoin their Asian kindred. This could become a major re-alignment; a predictable outcome of leftist / statist FP. Remember it was almost 40 years ago that Carter made every attempt to evacuate the Korean peninsula.
Most of the world will readily accept red dominion when the so-called defender of the free world is in obvious decline.
In the long history of nation states, those who surrender early receive much more generous treatment than those taken by storm.

240 More to the point, since the media and Hillary believe the same things, it is unlikely the media is going to stop Hillary from doing those things the media likes - especially when Obama and his ogre of a wife get out of "retirement" and start hitting the road on those policies' behalf.

I believe a post-presidency Obama will not wield any influence anywhere. Certainly not within his own party, and certainly not with (if it comes to that) President Hillary, who hates his guts. All the white libs who voted for their very own Magical Negro had/have zero expectations of his performance, which is why he remains popular in the polls when everyone right or left thinks the country has gone to sh*t. He's viewed as irrelevant by a huge chunk of the electorate. Come January, who's going to listen to him?

Principle of running out of other people's money takes precedence.

Exactly. Can you imagine Margaret Thatcher or Queen Elizabeth whining about some political foe/foreign leader who attempted to intimidate them by standing over them/standing too close?

First, they wouldn't be intimidated. Second, they would more likely snark about it later *in private* ("can you believe that guy thought getting in my face would scare me?"). Meanwhile, our aspiring feminist in chief prefers to play the victim and tell the world she was scared by it. She does no favors to her sex with that game.

The same YouTube video has been linked several places, including here in the sidebar. It does not really show her stumbling. Instead, there is a jump where a few seconds of video have been cut, right where she would have been stumbling.
1. The cut is the real story at this point, but nobody includes that in the description.
2. Is uncut version available, anywhere? I haven't found it. The MSM is covering for her, again. Successfully.

264 Is there any aspect of the US/Philippine relationship, from the very beginning, that "we" didn't blow, or at the very least severely mismanage? Lesson One appears to be that, pacified or not, "subject populations" are in better hands with the Army that they are with the State Department. We inherited a rebellion that could have been turned, and just had to have it put down, for practice (not counting the Muzz factor, of course, but we didn't learn much there either). And now we're fresh out of Krags to civilize 'em with. Can't stop an Insurrecto with a Glock.

William Howard Taft, supreme court justice who did a warm-up round as Pres, made his bones as Governor-General there. That term was thought of as successful. Ha ha, big Taft. Great big bathtub. First pres to ride in a car, invented throwing out the first pitch (from the box seat, as is appropriate), and even TR who stabbed him in the back said he was lovable. Maybe smarter than he looked?

PJ O'Rourke covered some unrest there when Corazon was ascendant. Aside from saying she had great legs, he noted that the Filipinos are the most polite people in the world. Protest signs said "US, thank you, please get out."

am just reading a short article ...
http://www.counter-currents.com/2016/10/the-great-forgetting/

"the coast is clear" is claimed to be from when Muslims were raiding and taking (white) slaves on Europe's coasts. Talks about the Muslim "grooming" scandal in England, and how "white guilt" is used to remember our slavery, but forget Muslims enslaving Christian whites was going on as late as 1960s. They also link to a bunch of art from the 1800s showing Muslims with their naked white women slaves.

It indeed seems a systematic part of conquering the west. White men are all guilty ... must have multicultural norms to neuter all the evil western thinking. It's sickening because they have been so successful.

When I look around Colorado and see our female SJWs, I wish they all could be California girls.

314 Merriweather Lewis (Lewis and Clark) had an air rifle.

"The Girandoni was the first pneumatic rifle and first repeating rifle ever used in warfare and it was special issue for the Austrian Army from 1780 to 1825. ... 48 inches long and the gun weighed in at 10 pounds, similar in size and weight to the muskets of the era. And believe it or not it was a stone cold killer at up to 100 yards, able to punch a hole in a 1 inch pine board for the first 30 shots on a single air reservoir. ... My initial scepticism of these weapons was fuelled by the misconception that they were similar to a Daisy BB gun. When I realized that the Girandoni propelled a .46 calibre ball through a rifled barrel at a muzzle velocity of 900 fps, I realized how wrong I had been. "

Slivo -- are you privy to homemade or if commercial, what do you buy? Enjoyed the shaska video. You do interesting things with your kids. Nice.
I am Slavic also -- no shaska. But lots of good food.

316 Pale Rider, once asked a local LGBTEIEIO activist about the full name of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crime Law.
He did a lot of hemming and hawing before he admitted he did not know it was the James Byrd Jr/Matthew Shepard Act.
Only the useful narrative, and LGBT supercedes black now.
It even suprecedes the Holocaust.

Here is a reasonable article in The Advocate, a gay publication, about MS and the meth issue. This should not send the liberals and the LGBT shrieking, but it probably will. Even the commenters are not sold despite the good reason of the article. Tough. They made MS an iconic hero. And he did die, so I get it. But not in the hands of HRC...

320 gracepc, good article, but had to smile at the "there are valid reasons to tell stories a certain way, but no need to hold on to them once they've been useful"

In addition to the lawlessness, thuggery, and overt racism, the Donks resemble the Nazis in that they are selling the same lie the Germans bought in the '30s. "We are better than other people and born to rule."

In addition, "community organizing" consists of organizing one segment of society and pointing them towards another segment and saying, "Those people are responsible for all of your problems. Focus your hate on them."

Sound familiar?
