Constable's quick studies are amazing. There is one of a water spout or a rain cloud (I don't remember) that is obviously not meticulously painted, but it is powerful and evocative nonetheless.

In fine arts I've transitioned tofigurative modeling in low-fire terra cotta. As research, I've been studying the 15th-18th Century Italians who worked in the same medium (usually as a preparation for larger scale works in marble and bronze).

There is a marble piece by Antonio Canova made in 1809 called 'Pentient Magdalen' that I had never seen before. I keep looking at it again and again. Can't stop looking at it. It's simply one of the most beautiful manmade creations I've ever seen. There's a tinge of sadness when I see something that beautiful since I know I'll never come close to that kind of transcendental, elevated beauty but my take on that is that you can't strive for perfection if you don't know what perfection looks like.

You could probably do the whole thing with chicken thighs. Or even pork. The flavors work. Yeah...'free range' pancetta. *snort* I just used about 5 or 6 slices of bacon. That site has a nice pheasant and chestnut terrine, too. mad that last Christmas. It helps to have a friend who hunts birds. Again, you could just use chicken if you want.

I will be fine with the results as long as there are no indications of vote fraud in key States and I will challenge every one of those I see.

Ties happen, even with a 9 member court, because sometimes a justice will recuse him/herself from the case.

This highlights how important circuit court appointments are. One of the major coups the democrats had was their packing of the DC circuit court, when Reid nuked the filibuster on judicial appointments.

I believe in the Gore vs.Bush case, it went to a federal court then was appealed to the Supreme Court.
So if they tie, ti goes back to the Federal Court.

As I have perused the comments this morning, I am a bit taken back at the wailing and gnashing of teeth over Trumps refusal to guarantee he would accept the election results. Oh, how it will be the only thing talked about on the View and MSM instead of Hillary's lies and failures.

Trump played that exactly right. First, Hillary's lies, etc. are NOT going to be talked about except slightly on Fox and only on Breitbart and social media. That is the trap that Republicans have fallen into for the past several elections, thinking that if they just politely point out something the Democrat says that's a lie, the entire media complex will hustle to expose it. Then they stand there with mud all over them when the MSM either doesn't cover it or props up the lie with more lies, including lying about the republican.

What Trump did last night is what he is quite good at. He created a meme that set the MSM hair on fire, that they think they can run with as another reason not to vote for Trump. But to do so, they are having to discuss Project Veritas, the downloaded videos, the two Dem operatives that have been "relocated", the registered voters who are dead, etc. Giving lots more coverage and exposure than otherwise would have been given.

This morning, F&F showed the interviews they did post debate with both Eric and Don Jr. who both reiterated the Project Veritas videos.
O'Keefe attended last night and was interviewed by various media(all out to brand him a liar, which is he more than capable of refuting. And that gives his video more exposure on all these different media outlets).

Excellent move on Trumps' part and I can only think that in the coming days, Wallace will be pissed off that he thought it would be a good trap question to help Hillary.

Agreed, I'm not much of a social conservative and would frankly rather not have abortion be a political issue, but watching Hillary defend 9 month abortions is truly horrifying and evil.

I did not watch much of the debate - opted for baseball instead. But I did hear Trump on NAFTA and the factories. And while I disagree with him on that issue, I will say, I thought he came across well in that moment. Very sympathetic and heartfelt, and I imagine he appealed to a lot of blue collar people there.

Technically, yes, but here is why it resonates with me: abortion is good way to see how much someone values life, specifically those who have no qualms about late-term abortions that do, in fact, end what would be a viable life outside of the womb. Because it never ends there. After abortion comes the Groningen Protocol - in the Netherlands where doctors, without consulting or informing parents, can decide a newborn is not worth saving. There's also NHS's Liverpool Care Pathway, where physician decide that an adult's life is not worth prolonging - and it came to include pesky old people and mentally dosaabled (i.e. not a merciful act for people on death's door). Just read that in the Netherlands they are considering legislation based on their Right to Die laws that would extend this to healthy people who simply feel there life is completed, it's time to go.

It's a culture of death, and it is dangerous, particularly as we move to socialized medicine.

This work, featuring meticulously rendered beech and basswood trees, was painted for the New York collector Abraham M. Cozzens, then a member of the executive committee of the American Art-Union. The painting illustrates a new trend in the work of the Hudson River School, with its diminished emphasis on sublime drama and increased interest in naturalism and in the creation of a tranquil mood. Durand was influenced by the work of the English landscape painter John Constable, whose vertical formats and truth to nature he absorbed while visiting England in 1840. "The Beeches" resembles Constable's "The Cornfield" (National Gallery, London). 58 There's a small landscape study in oils by John Constable at the Indianapolis Art Museum and it's surrounded by all of these huge anddramatic landscapes by other artists of the same period. Constable's exquisitely beautiful little study, probably dashed off in a few minutes, somehow manages to dominate the wall. You can't take your eyes from it.

60 Oh thank goodness (and CBD). What a lovely, peaceful painting when I needed it so much. I have always liked the Hudson River school of art with it's beautiful locales, technical excellence and especially use of light and shadow. You can feel the serenity and gentle quiet of the scene.

As an amateur wood carver, those huge northern basswood trees also get me thinking about projects I could do.

78 I remember reading the early English and Scots-Irish settlers tried bringing sheep with them to the New World. Didn't work well, since they didn't yet have the pasture land needed for sheep. In the UK the predatory animals had been hunted for centuries and were close to extinct, but here there were too many wolves and bears and they lost too many sheep. Pigs and, later, cattle, survived better in a more rugged landscape.

Which is why Americans still eat far less lamb than they do pork and cattle. Compare the lamb stews of the Scots and Irish with all the Southern recipes for pig meat.

Constable's quick studies are amazing. There is one of a water spout or a rain cloud (I don't remember) that is obviously not meticulously painted, but it is powerful and evocative nonetheless.

I'm not sure, but I think the word for that is, "Talent."

I wrapped it in Serrano ham instead of bacon, and put the whole thing in an herbed pastry crust. The crust was a bit too brittle to work with easily. I need to work on that.

In fine arts I've transitioned tofigurative modeling in low-fire terra cotta. As research, I've been studying the 15th-18th Century Italians who worked in the same medium (usually as a preparation for larger scale works in marble and bronze).

There is a marble piece by Antonio Canova made in 1809 called 'Pentient Magdalen' that I had never seen before. I keep looking at it again and again. Can't stop looking at it. It's simply one of the most beautiful manmade creations I've ever seen. There's a tinge of sadness when I see something that beautiful since I know I'll never come close to that kind of transcendental, elevated beauty but my take on that is that you can't strive for perfection if you don't know what perfection looks like.

You could probably do the whole thing with chicken thighs. Or even pork. The flavors work. Yeah...'free range' pancetta. *snort* I just used about 5 or 6 slices of bacon. That site has a nice pheasant and chestnut terrine, too. mad that last Christmas. It helps to have a friend who hunts birds. Again, you could just use chicken if you want.

This is probably the minority opinion, though it may not be in ten years. No candidate should answer Wallace's question re acceptance in the affirmative--that became clear 16 years ago. To meekly commit to accepting--weeks in advance--the outcome of a demonstrably flawed process that seems to be more corrupted by the year seems not only premature, but imprudent.

I'm no seer, but I'll bet that that question either a) isn't asked going forward, or b) won't be answered in the affirmative for much longer. Trump just chose not to be a fool after the fact in responding with an unambiguous "yes."

I'm sorry to have the "go there," but York is one of those guys, like a typical German Army officer, who prior to the war, was an honorable soldier, doing his duty. Then when he stopped and looked around, saw who was running the show, became an enthusiastic supporter of the guys in the black uniforms, with the patches and all that.


Compromising most of what he claimed to believe in, because he saw the direction his country was going, and decided to become one of them, rather than fight against them.

No problem though because starting tomorrow sometime around 4:30 or 5:00 PM my toes are going to be in the sand with a bottle of something in my hand for 10 days. I'm abandoning all responsibility and the fate of the free world for a 'I don't give a fuck what the hell you do.' vacation. No one and nothing can screw it up for the obvious reason.

I also get to put my father's ashes in Barrancas National Cemetery near his parents who are also there. Not my favorite trip back where I'm from but what the hell, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
