- on the "no fly zone": should have said that these only work when they are enforced, and that means firing on Russian planes if they test it - which they will - so it's a bad idea. The freakin' moderator understood this and called Hillary on it. Trump didn't, so well.
- on accepting the results of the election: should have mentioned Gore and Kerry, and said "I will ensure that the people who voted for me don't get cheated". He could have tied that with that earlier statement he also didn't make, and make explicit that promises are only as good as one's will to follow up on them.
I did like DJT's answer to Hillary's smears about forced groping, though. That might help him among the women around here.

Hillary's campaign caught red-handed on video bragging about voter fraud, and the media either downplays it or outright refuses to cover it, and instead tries to get Trump to agree in advance to swallow any all voter fraud that may be evident.
Their plan was later, if there are shenanigans in a particular state and Trump considers contesting those results, the media wanted to jump on him and say "but you promised not to contest any of the results."

Trump could have batted in out of park by referring to the video in which Hillary's supporters were caught talking about sending people from state to state in buses and cars to vote multiple times, and registering illegals. For people watching the debate who get their news from the msm and facebook, that would have been the first time they heard about it.
Chris Wallace should have mentioned it because it was relevant to the premise of his question, but he didn't want to do Trump the favor of helping him.

These were not "hacks" in any real sense of the word. Someone "phished" emails -- as in, set up a fake webpage that looked like a google webpage, then sent an email saying "hey, you need to reset your password now!!" and idiots clicked the fake link and gave their credentials to the "hackers."
Then the "hackers" ran scripts they found on the dark web (script kiddies, in other words) to get access to more of the networks. Some of these scripts had Russian headers explaining what the scripts were.
For this reason, I highly, highly, highly doubt they were done by the Russian govt (unless, maybe, the idea was to be "so obvious" that people would say "no way was this a govt actor!")
I think it's way more likely that these "hacks" were done by a single "hacktivist". I, for example, with my extremely modest knowledge of coding and hiding my trail on the internet, could have pulled this off. Someone nerdier then me could have definitely done it, no problem.
The chances of it being the Russian govt and them being SO sloppy as to include headers (with Cyrillic text) is... well, if thats how the Russian govt operates, then we have nothing to fear from them.

I had a crown put on one tooth. Dentist failed to excavate out the last little bit of decay in the root; it became abscessed, and hurt like Hell until I had it pulled.

I had an implant put in 10ish years ago, but I never actually had the final one put on. I still have the temp one that is smaller and doesn't cover everything. I had bad gingivitis and it was really bad around the post. I had to have flap surgery so they could get everything cleaned and now I have to have cleanings every 3 months. Anyway, the gingivitis ate away some of the bone and so there isn't much holding the post in.
The dentist tried to unscrew the temp tooth off, but it is stuck, so in order to get a full sized one on there, he said he would need to pull the current one.

Implants run around $6000 in Canada. I am going to Arizona periodically in the winter, anyway. Dentist is in Los Algodones, just across border from Yuma. You park in a lot on the U.S. side of the border in a California indian reserve (five dollars, all day), and walk across the border into Los Algodones, which is full of medical and dental clinics, and pharmacies. No further than going into WalMart from the far side of the parking lot.
So, over and above the cost of going to PHX area for a vacation, I have a 4 hour drive to Yuma, and a night in a motel.

Are there a lot of presidential signs up in yards around your area? If yes, are they who they should be for? You know, Trump in the Republican areas, Queen FAB in the others?
I'm in SE Michigan. Union Democrat land. There are MINIMAL signs here. During the primaries, there were lots of Bernie signs. Now.. signs are at a minimal.
But... at this point, I'm probably seeing 2 to 3 Trump signs for every Hillary sign. And more Trump signs are appearing in a union Democrat area. That being said, in my area, I haven't really seen more than a dozen signs in total, which is super strange.

I think in many cases, young women have abortions before they have children. Then they are emotionally, physically and mentally scarred for life. They know what they did is wrong and they have to pretend it wasn't. So even after having children, they still can't own up to the fact that they killed their first child.
I've lost 2 babies, so I feel ya. Some of the things these people say make me feel ill.

Trump Country here in Colorado. I just passed by a pickup truck today with a YUUUUUUGE Trump banner on his trailer and flags, and generally all the rural areas here are littered with Trump signs and banners everywhere. When you go down to Pueblo they taper off, but even then you'd be hard pressed to see a Hillary sign. I only saw one billboard for Johnson and one or two Hillary signs in a Pueblo neighborhood, plus a big one over the democrat office in Pueblo's downtown. But even then they are few and far between.
There is definitely an enthusiasm gap, i just hope that plus the shy Trump vote number in the millions and make the difference on election day.

It's called having your opinions informed by your beliefs. AOP mentioned Cruz. That was his strength, he destroyed Trump on the merits in all the debates. You couldn't knock him off balance, he'd blink once and then smoothly respond with facts.
What Cruz lacked was his delivery and his inability to get away from Harvard Debate Club rules. Trump GUTTED him in those arenas. Mario tried to respond in kind in those areas but he was just so pathetically BAD at it that it backfired. A candidate with conservative principles rooted in sincere beliefs with the visceral glee over cutting a bitch when called for would be unbeatable.

Conservatism is dead because they are now conserving an America that has already fundamentally changed. Why the heck do I want to conserve that? I want to transform the country to something else. My trouble with the Ted Cruz, Mike Lee (especially Lee more than Cruz), and even Rand Paul is they don't seem to understand that we need a new generation of revolutionaries, not people who are stuck on a system of government that has failed.
The Founding Fathers did a heck of job and created a system that last over 200 years in relative stability (with a few exceptions). The leftists, now aided by a rich internationalist elite, have found a way around it.
In other words the left won. You cannot put it back the way it was, because they will just do it again the same way.
You are going to have to find a way to radically patch up the current system, or create a new system from the ground up that will take another 200 years to be exploited and defeated.
One thing is clear: You cannot do that by doing what Marco Rubio is suggesting, which is proposing that Republicans should not use Wikileaks to attack the Dems. A perfect example of why we lost our country.

I've been on TV a few times. And while I can confirm your statement about the adrenaline rush, it actually starts to wear off after the experience is repeated. After a while, one gets "comfortable" being on camera and you don't get the rush.
Both Trump and Hillary have been on camera a gajillion times each. I think by now they get very little adrenaline rush. It's old hat to them by now.
So, they don't have as much of an excuse as a "TV newbie" would have.

It took me a while to figure out where an what it was. I was afraid it was the UPS box, but that was working, keeping the computer itself on backup. The network switch was off, since it's on the strip.
Anyway I found it, seeing evidence, in the form of soot coming out of one of the receptacle sockets in the thing.
Just to see, I took it apart. The surge protector thing consists of a circuit board, with some inductor coils and some other shit. One of the other shit components had blown.
I didn't pay it much attention, but it looked like a large ceramic disk capacitor. It may have been something else.
Anyway, it arced and blew. Interestingly it was open after the breaker tripped and killed the arc. That is, no short from the input side, but the output section was dead.
That thing was an APC model, and is about 20 years old.

Actually it wasn't any surge, just a failure of that component. The computer and monitor and my network storage boxes are on the UPS, but this thing powers just about everything else, including the printer.
The UPS has a surge protector (it says it does) on the input section, and that would be the one that protects the computer and monitor.

Not true. There are many integrated mills (integrated = ore to iron to steel to ingot to sheet/plate/whatever) currently operating in the US. The NW Indiana area alone produces 25% of the nation's steel alone.
Granted, the 'cheap' steel (low grade, common alloys) became uncompetitive versus foreign imports, but they moved to higher grade alloys. (These better grades gave the auto makers the ability to offer those 7yr/70k mile warranties, by the way.)

Also read that MOVs will all eventually fail. Each little clamping surge it experiences (doing its job) degrades it a little. They can fail during a large surge, or they can fail "just sitting there" like this one did.
They get degraded enough to no longer work, and then will eventually short out, I read.

Not sometimes. They ALWAYS cause more problems down the line because whatever the original intentions were the government powers created are always abused in the future. This is the natural entropy of government and is not something that anyone can claim ignorance of. There has never been a government power that was not expanded far beyond its original purpose until it (or something else like it) finally broke the government.

Even as last as the 17th or 18th century (hell, even today, in small numbers), people were arguing for the divine rights of kings. We know now from experience that the American system of representative democracy with a severely limited central government is the best path to prosperity and general happiness, but back then it was new and we didn't have counter examples of how a competing philosophy (socialism) always fails. It's still not perfect, nothing ever will be. Don't condemn them for not knowing what we know now is all I'm saying.
And Tim, "conservative" in 1860 would have been conserving slavery. No way I'm going to defend that evil. But "conservative" in 2016 means something different. We have a lot more empirical data now. Conservatives want to conserve that which, through trial and error, has been proven to work, to provide the maximum prosperity and happiness to the maximum number of people. That concept is separate from any political party. The purpose of a political party is to maintain power. Very different things.

Whether you like it or not, there are citizens of this country who are physically or mentally incapable of self-preservation. If you think they can rely on private charity, you are mistaken. Those people I do not begrudge one dime of federal and/or state government support.
The number is small, no where near the welfare rolls. My father relates a fellow he knew growing up in the 1930's on a farm in Wyoming. This guy couldn't hold a regular job, couldn't read or write, was not invited to attend school, but he could pitch hay, so he always had some place to work when he needed to. Of course, we no longer have need of guys to pitch hay, so he would probably fit the category of folks who need support.
Welfare, OTOH, should be reserved for those who are honestly in dire straights, and then only for a short time. Having 12 babies out of wedlock should not qualify you for welfare, nor should not bothering to marry your baby daddy. If you have family, you should have to report that support, too.
I think there is fine line between governments' responsibility to its most vulnerable citizens and it's responsibility to its tax payers.

You didn't address my point - any sort of individual welfare is NOT ALLOWED from the federal government. If there is to be government welfare then it is strictly a state issue and each state decides how it will treat the situations. The federal government is not allowed to muck around in these sorts of issues, and for good reason (as I explained in a later comment).

Actually, I think Wisconsin has done pretty well at peeling deadbeats off the dole. Limiting the size of the program is the first step, and then using the iron fist of administering the program as written. Work, or don't, but your benefits run out and that's it.
Reality gets to be a bitch pretty quick, but so far, nobody has starved.

I addressed the goal of the Civil War. It was, clearly, to force the South back into the Union - not to preserve the Union but to reconstitute it. I think it was a good thing and there was nothing un-Constitutional about it. But that is what it was about.

I hated using a cigarette lighter to heat my key to get it into the door lock. When you are already working 12 hour days all that extra time is crap.

The headline quote on that at Fox is a big lie and I imagine it is the same everywhere else, because that is not exactly what he said.
He said he would have to wait and see how it came out. That he could not say now that he would just accept it and move on. It depends on how it comes out. He should have just said that if his people note election tapering and fraud he planned on challenging it.
As I have said, Fox never was a "conservative news site, but they are now no better than any of the rest of them.

Wallace did better than other moderators but still too much time for Clinton and to cover her. She lied through her teeth and was possibly coked up because her nose was running a lot. The big problem with him is that we can all think of what he "should have" said - and didn't. Hillary has multiple targets on her back and he was standing there throwing wild pitches. some hit, many went way off the mark.
I'm frustrated, not just because he's a poor debater, but because he didn't work harder at being a better one.
He hit many more of his marks during the second debate, perhaps because he actually listened to what Farage told him. It looked like he went back to flailing last night and the only reason he might have pulled it off - or at least not damaged himself greatly - was because Cankles is such a rotten person.

Summerville is a bedroom community of Charleston now. I have heard it is nice but it is where everyone who wants to live around Charleston is moving now. Property values are going up. Expect home costs anywhere from $200,000 to $300,000 for the average size house.

I found myself turning to the "comfort food" side of the media, such as Hannity, who's radio show I normally don't listen to. But his show became one of my go-to "comfort-foods" between Obummer's election and coronation. And there's a local rightie radio guy I was able to listen to during that period. And, of course, this place. Probably more than any of the others: this place.
