Sean Hannity: Megyn Kelly, You're a Hillary Clinton Supporter
I don't know why this is a big story.
I suspect it comes down to three things: 1. Fox is a fairly stage-managed operation and so a bit of backstage bickering is interesting. 2. The conservative movement is over-interested in personal squabbles between its "celebrities." 3. The NeverTrump class that controls most of the commanding heights of conservative media is very opposed to saying people who clearly support Hillary Clinton clearly support Hillary Clinton, for purely self-interested reasons. They want to support Hillary Clinton while forbidding you to note the obvious, on pain of shunning and whatever actual purging from the party they have the power to pull off. It's their plot to tank the election, then come forward as the leaders of GOP thought again. Basically, their plan is to give West Point to the British, and then, after the war is lost, they want to demand that America put them back in charge of West Point again. To "save the party" or whatever. They have therefore agreed mutually among each other that to call an obvious Hillary supporter an obvious Hillary supporter is on the level of a racial slur, a disgusting insult never to be uttered. And anyone who dares to speak the obvious should be branded guilty of a speechcrime akin to racism.One More: I forgot to include this one: 4. The conservative movement as a whole is a stage-managed operation. There is this wrongheaded idea that we must hide all internal disagreements so that the liberals and/or the media do not see it. Necessary arguments are squelched in the interests of "presenting a united front." Then the putative leadership class wonders how the hell it so badly misread the electorate, while the putative intellectual class wonders why people aren't as psyched about free trade as everyone was at their last Cato Institute symposium. So it feels weird to have a public argument, instead of the sublimated passive-aggressive sniping that we usually have.

It should be an interesting election, although I have decided mostly to believe the polls and accept our fate. That said, I can't figure out how hillary is ahead in a lot of these polls when the same polls say she is losing white men 3 to 1, and only winning white women 3 to 2, not to mention young people dislike her. Insofar as Sean Hannity is concerned, I truly wish he would drop the 'I think like a martial artist' shtick. I've been fortunate enough to know some real-deal badasses. They're uniformly some of the most decent and kind people you're likely to meet anywhere. Most would tell you that martial arts is that fun thing they do in the dojo. Out in the world, they're just people. Granted, people who could tie you into knots, hit like a hammer, and bring pain like Grandma bearing pies, but otherwise just people.

I don't think it is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Hannity isn't pretending that he's being some impartial observer just looking for the facts. He's admittedly partisan. I started listening to him on the drive home about 5 years ago. He's fine, but he doesn't let his lib or opposing view guests or callers say much, and he repeats the same points about "90 million people out of the work force" and things like that, over and over. It would be neat if he actually called out Kelly and didn't back down

Worst thing, none of them have any answers. The "conservative media group" basically makes a living just "talking" about things. Hannity is a wind up Chatty Cathy doll who just repeats the same shit every day. It's always the same guest speakers who get paid to come on the show. Same shit, every damn day.

10 Vote against all tax levies, particularly school levies
11 Buy firearms and ammo. It's not simply a just-in-case, it's a good financial investment of small sums when savings are yielding 1/4 of a percent.

Sounds like what NeverTrump is doing (voting to steer the party in a desired direction rather than stop Hillary from stacking the Supreme Court).
Not that I have too much room to criticize, I voted for Cruz instead of Rubio or Kasich knowing he was less likely to win a general election (but still far, far more likely than Trump-against Hillary, it was a reasonable risk to take).
I think you're wrong, though; if Trump loses this, the Establishment will come out ahead against both the conservative AND the populist wings of the party. Not that its likely to matter at that point.

I never said that Trump and Clinton are *equally* bad on the Constitution. They aren't. I don't think Trump is as bad as Clinton on the Constitution overall. But supporting Trump is not exactly a vote in favor of constitutional conservatism.
Expansion of libel laws would not just affect paid reporters. They would affect anyone who relies upon the freedom of the press, *including bloggers*. So if you expand libel laws to allow people like Trump to sue the NYT when they write something bad about Trump, you are also allowing people like Clinton to sue people like Ace when he says something bad about her. Trump hasn't considered any of that crap, I am sure.
Hillary is bad on the Second Amendment but she has never explicitly said she wants to ban all private ownership of firearms. This isn't a support of her position on the Second Amendment, this is simply a statement of fact. I think Trump is less bad but he is definitely waffley.
The IRS targeting of nonprofits had nothing to do with the Fourth Amendment so I don't even know where that came from.
Broadly speaking, when does Trump speak about constitutional conservatism at all?

Vote Trump if only to protest the decline of the Republic if you must, but stop deluding yourself into thinking the candidate opposing her really matters. He doesn't. It only matters that he opposes her.
If you vote for her or you don't vote, its exactly the same thing. Vote Trump instead, and then (if you must) bitch for four years about what a lousy president he is. At least he isn't Hillary, and country hasn't been sold to China or Russia.

As currently constituted, libel laws are largely unenforcible because intent to malign must be proved. Malicious neglect, not a thing, so the "press" have the ability to slander a public figure nearly at will under the color of "factual, but we made an oopsie". Particularly since in many cases (like Gawker) the left tries to construct a carveout for journalists qua journalists to do whatever they like and leave everyone else out in the cold. 1st amendment for me and not for thee. The IRS targeting of nonprofits is actually a sidestep of the Fourth, but worth bringing up. Their abuses made unreasonable document demands of the targets under guise of relevance and their ability to levy fines of suspicion is certainly a seizure of sorts, but the main thrust was to highlight an agency empowered to persecute. DOJ Title IX requirements, "structuring", and any number of other points that the left presses on fall under the Fourth, expressly as expressions of political will.
If you believe, as the left does, that stop and frisk are also political will expressions against black people, you might be clinically insane.
Trump doesn't speak about constitutional conservatism in exactly those wordsbecause he is not an ideologue. He is not doctrinaire. This is an evasion. He is still the best hope for its advancement.

But I just want to point out that my comment about Donald Trump and the Constitution was modeled after #87's complaint that NeverTrumpers aren't doing anything to stop Hillary's potential shredding of the Constitution. And my point was, and still is, that if constitutional fidelity is the standard by which the candidates are to be judged, neither one measures up. Neither one. So what am I doing to stop the Constitution from being shredded? Not voting for either of the two shredders! You can argue that Trump would shred the Constitution less than Hillary would. And there is merit to that claim. But don't you dare claim that I should vote for Trump because he's the guy who is going to restore some constitutional order. He's not.
I'm also getting sick and tired by the miasma of unreason that has swept the right generally. I am now expected to believe that Hillary will literally shovel conservatives into gas chambers, so therefore I must vote for Trump in order to forestall my imminent demise. Sorry - Hillary is bad, but she's not Hitler or Stalin. (And by the way neither is Trump.) She's not going to throw conservatives into the gas chambers. This isn't a defense of her, this is simply a statement of fact at this point.
