16 Who said Scankles was anti-gun?

On this day one year ago the news was this:

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton will propose new gun control measures, including a vow to employ executive action to expand background checks for firearms sellers at gun shows and online.

    http://fxn.ws/1Rq9Moo

Yes, the lying Scankles came forth and spewed the same old Democrat lie about guns shows and "loopholes" that do not exist. The broken down old beatch vowed to end this loophole that does not exist and even though all the polls ran by the MFM are lies, she still has some real worshippers that want their free shit. And I would ask, why isn't Trump mentioning this at all?

I think that plan might backfire if....and it is a big if....the opposition can make the case that single payer will be the same type of care as the VA, Medicare, etc. In other words, single payer is easier to sell if the gov't had looked semi-competent before pushing for it.

    42 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes.

During the 1930s, actor Alfred Lunt and his wife Lynn Fontanne (known popularly as "The Lunts") were the power couple on Broadway, appearing in over twenty shows together and even achieving the rare compliment of having a show - Noel Coward's Design for Living - written for them.

Both were friendly and well-liked, though Lynn sometimes had an acid tongue and could wield it without pity. The story goes that, at one party (and don't these stories always happen at parties?), Fontanne was greeted by Tallulah Bankhead. "How lucky you are to be married to Alfred Lunt, darling!" cooed La Bankhead. "His acting, his directing, his theater sense! Where would you be without him?"

Without missing a beat, Fontanne replied, "Probably playing your roles . . . darling."

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Are there any States that don't have a death tax? SC doesn't have a Death Tax per se, but SC income tax is tied to the federal tax which DOES have a death tax if the estate has an assessed value in excess of ~5M. So if an estate has to pay the feds they will also be indirectly paying the State here, yet the liberals in State government can still claim we don't have a "death tax".

As much as I hate tax increases, I don't have much of a problem with a higher gas tax in NJ. It's the 2nd lowest in the country and hasn't been raised in decades. Something like 30% of the gas bought in NJ is by out-of-state drivers. They want to use NJ roads so much? Fine, then they should help pay for their upkeep.

NJ is also getting a slight reduction in the sales tax as part of the deal.

Carrier George Washington to deploy for Hurricane Matthew relief

The U.S. military's massive disaster relief machine is kicking into gear.

The government of Haiti has requested U.S. aid as the slow-moving Hurricane Matthew pounds the island, according to a USAID spokesman. The aid organization has also activated its disaster response team.

The carrier George Washington and the amphibious transport dock Mesa Verde put to sea Tuesday with Navy and Marine aircraft aboard and are headed to the Caribbean to provide relief from the storm if needed. The GW's air wing is composed of V-22 Ospreys and MH-60 Seahawks, sources said.

The hospital ship Comfort is also gearing up for the major operation, but has not yet left port. The ships have not been issued any official orders tied to Haiti's request for assistance, said Cmdr. Dave Hecht, spokesman for the Naval Air Forces, Atlantic.

    ...

U.S. Southern Command has also redeployed nine Marine helicopters and 100 personnel from Honduras to Grand Cayman to prepare for relief operations, according to a SOUTHCOM release.

Members from Joint Task Force-Bravo and Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Southern Command boarded CH-53E Super Stallions, CH-47 Chinooks, and UH-60L Black Hawks and shipped out early Tuesday, according to the release, and are standing by for "heavy-lift support," according to the release.

That is why MeAgain's head was exploding last night. She was raging inside, and letting some of it out. She became so defensive and attacked Trump's spokeswoman last night (who kept her cool so it was like the Kaine Pence debate all over again - Kelly being Kaine).

It's clear Trump is still in MeAgain's head 24/7. She wants revenge.

I hope Trump stomps them all.

133 One of the reasons Greitens is lagging.

It's a really weird year in MO: The Democrat Guv. candidate (former Republican) Chris Koster is being endorsed by the NRA, over Eric Greitens, a former Democrat. And Blundt's challenger, Jason Kandor appears more conservative than Blundt.

137 In 2008, Obama won with a three-pronged constituency: progressives, young people, and minorities. By 2012, the constituency had morphed to young people, minorities, and the mentally retarded. 2016 sees Clinton struggling to gain the lost youth vote and hold the minority vote (following a charismatic half-black man is a tough act for a beta-version cylon woman to follow). The retarded vote appears to be split between stay-at-home Sanders mutants and the rest of Clinton's white constituency.

And yet, she still appears positioned to win, if she can just hold the retarded coalition that Obama built.

Realize this. Most of that gas is deliberately purchased by people from out of state is because the price is much cheaper than NY or Connecticut. The bulk of those purchases will end once there is no incentive to buy there. People will then find alternative ways to reduce their gas price locally (e.g. Points programs that give money off per gallon with each purchase ).

NJ will never collect the amount they are projecting from out of state purchases. And the people from out of state who have to purchase (because they are traveling across the state and have no choice ) will never make up the gap.

NJ will then still be stuck with a budget hole.

Yes, and as such is self sustaining....no federal tax dollars for upkeep or expansion. Originally chartered to be that way and built to carry primarily commercial traffic north and south. Same with the Garden State Parkway. But, the GSP was originally built to carry non commercial traffic, cars only. Oh, by the way, there is NO highway fund. Never was. It is against the state constitution to earmark any tax toward a specific purpose. ALL monies are funneled into the General Fund where it's dispersed as the perpetual dem legislature sees fit. Yeah, that works well.

But GA has one thing going for it. They have arranged their freeway entrances and exits with gates that can be lowered to make the freeway all one-way from coast to inland. I wish they would do that here.

The 2012 polls predicted a significantly lower turnout for obama than in 2008 because that is what happens historically in a Presidents second election but he pulled in a way larger level of turnout than they expected and that's what skewed most of the polling that year.

I read one of the article on the debate last night (McClachy I think) about moderate R and Dems--you know, the crowd the NeverTrumpers think we need to appeal to.

And they were all "Pence was good, Kaine was bad."

    And the NeverTrumper squirt.

250 230 Most pollsters will take the previous election
turnout as a base, but you have to assume the candidate will pull those
numbers. Try as I might, I just don't see Clinton pulling in Obama
    numbers from the Dem base.

It's a valid thought that Trump is going to outperform the polls,

    underperforming hers.

319 I recall an article about 10 yrs back in the WSJ. Seems that there was a rift in the local UU church in Boston. One group wanted to issue a definitive statement that they did believe in God. The other group didn't want to commit to the idea. I think the latter group won out, but my memory may be off. You really have to wonder.
Posted by: RedMindBlueState at October 05, 2016 09:20 AM (bzd8I)

Wow. Why bother having the name "church", with all that implies, if you don't believe in God?

I went to a UU service with some friends once, and offended everyone around me by singing the hymns properly-with the original words, rather than the socialist/communist drivel they changed them to.

The daughter of the friend asked me what I was singing, because it sounded so much better, "majestic" was the word she used. Hey, she opened the door, I happily told her about the divinity of Christ and his gift of salvation, and later learned she became a devout Christian.

Her parents never spoke to me again.

I too think it's wrong to just dismiss polls out of hand at this
point, but there is one thing to keep in mind...forecasting a turnout
model this year is, well, really difficult. Most pollsters will take
the previous election turnout as a base, but you have to assume the
candidate will pull those numbers. Try as I might, I just don't see
Clinton pulling in Obama numbers from the Dem base.

It's a valid thought that Trump is going to outperform the polls,
though I think the margin is going to be mostly from Clinton
    underperforming hers.

Kaine got plenty of uninterrupted time to blather on about how awesome Hillary is and how horrible Trump is. Anytime Pence got on a good roll, Kaine disrupted it.

Clinton folks - and SJWs - think of that as a win. They got to say what they wanted, got to prevent the other guy from saying what he wanted.

But one thing that Master Persuader Scott Adams has convinced me of: people do not care about policies. I know we have some phrase for that about the Left, that they don't believe in what they say they do, but I think it is true of almost everyone. Yeah, some people really really really care I get it. But mostly, no, they don't care. They go off of impressions and their contact high.

346 "How does Trump have his "I paid for this microphone" moment?"

Team Hillary have gone with this "Trump is a tax cheat, so he doesn't love America" thing. He needs concise lines that flip around how a billion dollar loss only happens when he had put that much on the line to lose, that he's hired tens of thousands and paid them and their taxes, even if 20 years ago he took some losses.

He could summarize the billions (?) he's paid in all the various taxes, and look at Hillary and maybe for his opening or closing, say:

"You don't understand Americans Hillary, because you don't build or create, you tear down blue collar America as deplorable and racist even as they work side by side with every race. You call the best patriots xenophobic because they love America. You tear them down, but I build and have shaken hands with American builders for 25 years, regardless of their gender, race, or political views.

You've taken millions from the uber-rich and make your money at cocktail parties. You sell political favors, even for Russia or the Saudis. And you ran at least a couple billion through your foundation, so they didn't even pay taxes on the bribes, while only 10% of that charity finds the people in need.

I'm the one that knows how to build. America has a strong structure and a strong people ... I have renovated such structures many times. But you sell political power, call good Americans racists, or basement dwellers, and you feel they owe you. No |Hillary, we owe them ... we owe the American people."

hopefully Trump got some energy to prepare for the next debate by watching Pence. he has a lot of Hillary/MSM narrative he needs to flip around, and he can, because they are lies.

I don't know that there are, but tangential to your question was how Whittaker Chambers became a Christian-which is what drove him to give up being a Communist, and testify before Congress against Alger Hiss et al-

When he was living in DC, undercover with State, I think-I don't remember- he and his wife had a black lady who kept house for them. At meals, they invited her to sit with them, which took her by surprise, since this was the segregated 40's/50's. She said that she had been raised a Christian, and that none of the white Christians she had met had ever done that, even though Christ taught that all were equal. That led to discussions of Chamber's communism and her Christianity, and apparently, to his and his family's ultimate acceptance of Christ.

It was also a very powerful lesson to me of how my faith can affect others.

Funny thing is that the Donks only have themselves to blame. First in nominating a dottering old bitty who's only hanging on to life out of a desire for revenge on anyone who's ever been mean to her. Second, because they responded to the Frau's fainting spell by screaming about how Trump is a fat, sickly old man.

They made Presidential succession an issue all by themselves. Nice job, donkeys.

If you were to take Chip or Dale, of Disney chipmunk fame, and feed them

The guy is so wired I'm surprised his skin still fits him. Also, and
this is a mean comment on his looks, but I became weirdly fascinated by
his jaw and mouth. They look like something one would see on a
ventriloquist's dummy. The flapping jaw and smile that never reaches his
eyes are weirdly disconnected, in an almost psychopathic way. I would
not want to meet this man in a dark alley. He's Joe Biden, only more
    vicious.
