8 First time in 8 years a President's had a veto overridden, despite an ostensibly Republican Congress. This is the exception that proves what me, Vic, and others have been putting in our names for years: We don't have an opposition party, therefore we are not represented at all.

Regardless of the fact that Trump might do some good, I still don't think he'll be able to make enough changes within the system to matter. We've kicked the can down the road, but for the next four years, we need to get off of our duffs and create the party that will shove the current Uniparty into the dustbin of history.

34 Darth I have to agree, this 9/11 bill smells to high heaven, and lawyers will make a killing, nothing will be resolved. And wait until the rest of the world demands reciprocity and starts suing our military for what *they* do. And how, pray tell, will citizens compel foreign countries to comply with discovery, much less impose fines or jail? Please. This is ultimately going to be turned right around on us. Terror attacks and such shit needs to be addressed by the State with draconian measures, including force, not in courts.

That said, I have to believe Obama knows this and it is a calculated move to make him look like he lost when he really won, and he knows it. And its another reason for the fed govt to lie back and NOT act aggressively. I am a lawyer, not a litigator though, and cannot see any win for this, except for BHO's show of embarassment for a day or two.

The Confucians had something that was both a process, and an event called the Rectification of the names. When words and reality went too far out of alignment, they held that art and culture degraded, and the nation was paralyzed by not knowing what was or wasn't allowed. We now have an economy that still hasn't recovered to 2008 levels, but we're not in a depression. We have an Islamic State that's not Islamic. We're bombing it, but not at war with them. Male and female are interchangeable! But women are better, just ask the feminists!

Up is down, black is white, and short is long. Eventually, people just get fed up with it and start breaking things until sanity is restored. That is the process. The event was a terrible, terrible revolution in the usual ancient Chinese manner.

I think the bullshit hasn't quite reached critical mass yet, but once it does, all bets are off.

Human nature is like a bow. You can pull the string, and the bow will bend, but you cannot hold it out of alignment forever. It will return to its natural state, and the more you pull, the more force it returns with.

yup ... despite the routine promises "oh no there are safeguards against this being used against US", the people arguing against it seemed most solid.

It's almost the DC cabal plot to use Global Warming to steal trillions and redistribute at will (after taking their 90% cut, per The Clinton Foundation standard) didn't work out so well, this is just one more alternative method for plutocrats to steal from the people.

These major threats to our sovereignty just keep slipping through, while they divert our attention by blowing up our cities over "good shoots" like in Ferguson and Charlotte. America First is so important now, as opposed to "I'm with Crooked Hillary, who will sell American interests to anyone". A vote for Hillary is a vote for Soros, but the cabal is very broad.

"Hate speech" laws that punish people for, say, drawing cartoons of Muhammad or saying Islam is evil, don't pass constitutional muster under U.S. law. But under globalist, U.N.-regulated law, which will be dominated and controlled by muslims, that won't be an issue.

Obama's unilateral act of giving away U.S. control of the internet (that the U.S. created) is just another one of his many efforts to deprive Americans of their property and their freedoms. And our cowardly, inept "representatives" in government sit on their thumbs and do nothing to stop it.

Too conventional a strategy in a decidedly unconventional time. I voted for him in the primary anyway, but he really didn't sell it the way he does on the Senate floor.

And that's why we "blog people" are so often amazed at the blatant lies on media, but they know that about half their audience will never hear any corrections. So they just don't care if "we" catch them lying. So we get "wipe it, like with a cloth" BS and Hillary just laughing about the felonies and treason, knowing her hubbie can meet with Lynch and make everything go away.

Yeah, johnsons and steins. Before this is all over they will throw their support to hillzebub.
.
.
.Too late for that to make any difference. hillary is launching nasty attack ads against Johnson and he will not come over to her camp. Even if he does his name is already on the ballot and that will peel voters away from hillary.

Two things are going against her this election. First, she is not obama and does not automatically get the black vote the way he did. She is not going to generate the numbers he did in 2008 and 2012 either.

Second, there is a 3rd Party Candidate that is actually getting close to 10% of the vote this time. obama did not have to deal with that either time he ran. And those voters would almost all vote Democrat if Johnson was not on the ticket.

People tend to either forget or gloss over those two items when they are conducting polls and they keep using 2008 and 2012 as historic base lines for voter turnout because that is what they think will happen this election.

That's why I do not trust all of those "head to head" polls we keep seeing. If you want more realistic numbers you have to go with the polls that show the actual four way race and have a Dem+4 or less spread. Remember obama only got a D+7 turnout in 2008 and hillary is not going to generate those kinds of numbers.

Here is a link to a short video and more info about him: http://preview.tinyurl.com/2koztd (autoplay video, sorry).

Many Catholic churches, including mine, say the Prayer to St. Michael at the end of every Mass, every day:

St. Michael the Archangel,
Defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
By the power of God
Cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
Who prowl about the world
Seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Which surprised me as I expected to find he was peeling off more of Hillary's than Trumps. I didn't bother doing Stein's as the numbers are too low to really matter.

Things will change in the coming weeks, but as of last week the Johnson Effect seems to be a wash.

156 Hi Weasel - it was really nice. George Washington's birthplace was a pleasant surprise to me. I know the house is recreated, and we didn't actually do the tour of it because of time, but the grounds are absolutely lovely and we wandered around quite a bit after watching the short video.

Stratford Hall is just beautiful, too. Unfortunately, we couldn't go down to the beach and look for shark's teeth like we wanted to because the beach was closed due to heavy rains earlier. But the house itself and the surrounding grounds are just lovely. I just love soaking in all that history.

Only downside was that my son threw up out the car window on the way home. He didn't warn me it was coming. He's got a little bug, I think, because we all ate the same thing and everyone else was fine.

158 I'd like to through something out there that has some merit (I believe) to think about:

FBI Director Comey, is attempting to do something that should give just about everyone in the country pause.

He is trying to order every one of us to believe him. Using the weight of his position as the director of the FBI, he is leveraging every ounce of the credibility of that position AND the virtue of the fact that he holds it, to DIRECT not only congress, but the rest of us to believe what he is saying about the Clinton email issue - and with considerable success to this point.

The problem is that the position that he has constructed for us to believe is utterly implausible. It simply is not believable.

And I do not believe him. And I am surprised, to this point, that seemingly many are falling into the trap.

Certainly, many on the left and in the media have made themselves predisposed to voluntarily believe this steaming mountain of bullshit, but also, or so it seems, have many in congress and on the right.

Certainly, many have problems with what he is saying, but nobody seems to want to call him on what he is really doing - ORDERING, as a government official in a powerful position - the rest of us to believe a totally incredulous bullshit song and dance.

Go to the Youtube videos from yesterday where they have the Republican questioners stacked up. It is breathtakingly amazing the bullshit story he is basically threatening us not to believe.

Article V bypasses Congress, to have the states vote to author Constitutional amendments that don't require their approval. It was designed as one more state break on a runaway Federal government.

Will it work? Probably not. They'll probably just undermine any new amendments that get written like they've undermined the old ones. But there's one they can't undermine and can't reject at all, and that's the one that disbands the whole freaking thing.

Dissolution, disincorporation, abolition... whatever you want to call it.

Not trying to start an argument, but I would suggest that the constitution cannot possibly work, at this present time in our history.

Government is too big and they have taken too much power on to themselves - power that the Constitution specifically admonished the people not to let it have.

A major problem for us moving forward, is the fact that we have fallen into a trap of believing that the only way to fix the problem of the government having too much power is to give them more power to fix it.

No gonna work.

On the way out I realized that I probably wouldn't get an offer, because every staffer in the work space was just about 25, maybe. It looked like a study hall.

355 Obamacare death spiral tightening:

From the Washington Free Beacon

http://tinyurl.com/gpmtsmt

According to the agency, the program experienced a shortfall of more than $2.5 billion in 2014, an amount so large that all of the risk corridor payments from 2015 would not cover it. Because all of the 2015 benefit year collections will be used for the 2014 shortfall, the agency anticipates that no funds will be available for the 2015 risk corridor program shortfall.

"In the event of a shortfall for the 2016 benefit year, HHS will explore other sources of funding for risk corridors payments, subject to the availability of appropriations," the memo said.

Possible sources of funding for the 2015 risk corridor program include tax revenue from the year 2018, 2022, 2023 or 2028. A lucky winner will be selected from this list by the end of 2016. Children yet-to-be-born were not consulted in this process.

371 Correct ICANN is about names and who owns them.

Kleptocrats who own the control of names can decide to take those names away from people who have paid money to get those names. And of course it will be for reasons like 'hate speech' and not because one of their cronies wants the name or that the site name is making fun of the kleptocrats.

It will be like the Stasi running the phone company and postal service.

376 Celebrity newscasters.
Not worthy of attention.
Those who follow them, and give them credence are just another form of Pop Culture fanbois and girls.

The country is Media driven, and that's a major reason for the state we're in.

Oh, and the obligatory, in my opinion, of course, because it's all the rage now to not entirely own one's opinion.
Posted by: tubal at September 29, 2016 09:19 AM (d6TTt)

I try to find actual news reporting, or "fair" opinions. Perino used to talk about both sides of issues in the past. Now she tilts only one way. Too much.

She really brought herself down by going on Kelly's show to contribute to the mocking session. So low. Why swim in the sewers with Kelly?

377 That 9/11 bill is meaningless, you know.

If the State Dept. tells a judge "we're in good faith negotiations with that nation over the issue" a trial under the ordinance can be delayed six months.

And six months later if they say it again, another six.

And so on. And so forth.

It's almost as if they weren't serious about it at all.

Oh well. The Cavil Doctrine dictates the proper compensation for such things is being able to push the button that reduces the offending nation to a glass wasteland anyway.

383 A quick thumbnail sketch of the ICANN thing, at least as I understand it.

Let's say I want to go to someone's house. I plug in the address in my GPS, it figures out the coordinates and my location, and routes me there. But the GPS coordinates of my destination are incorrect, and instead of going where I want to go I end up at a FEMA camp.

That's kind of what's happening here. ICANN can redirect you, so if I want to go to AoSHQ, I can instead be redirected to whatever they want...or not at all.

As a practical matter, if you're in China and you try a Google search for Tiananmen Square...you can't do it. It won't let you. Now apply that concept worldwide and you get a sense of what's at stake here.

389 (trying a cut and paste from Word)

Weighting
To achieve a representative sample we employ a weighting technique of demographic breakdowns.

Our first step in weighting is to survey more than enough people. This allows us to then be able to systematically reject individual surveys from demographics that are over represented. Next, survey data is weighted with a 3 point decrease in Conservative opinion and a 3 point increase in Liberal opinion to offset the bias in land line only telephone polls.

For the Presidential Polling Initiative the following Methodology will be employed. First, all respondents who did not finish the survey is eliminated, then anyone who finished the survey in under 4 minutes is eliminated (based on 2 standard deviations and length of survey). If respondent said they did not vote in 2012 they are eliminated because prior voting behavior is the best predictor of future voting behaivor. Finally, using a rim weighting the results are weighted based on 2012 final election returns either nationally or by state depending on the sample and then by region (percentage of electoral vote for each region or total vote if it is a statewide poll).

Was supposed to be self-funding as a risk-pooling thing, but the insurance companies weren't able to calculate their premiums to account for the influx of new customers and hence the shortfall. 434 I just turned 68 a few days back, meaning that Babi Yar took place a mere seven years before I was born. And after a couple decades of Europe pretending the Holocaust purged it of Jew hatred, they're right back at it again.

The dirty secret of the Holocaust is that the locals were so eager to help the Nazis exterminate the Jews. One Polish village went to far as to blame the Germans for the eradication of all the Jews in their village. Just a few years back, a historian proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the villagers themselves had killed and driven out the Jews in order to take their homes and possessions.

Jew hatred is bred in the bones of Europe, and nothing will ever cleanse it. They'll try and blame it on the influx of Muslims, but the Euros are every bit as anti-Semitic as they ever were.
