36 Ah. Lisa Loring.

When she tried out for the role of Wednesday Addams, the director gave her a little piece of script and she replied, "I don't read." The director thought that Loring was a snotty child actress who had no intention of cooperating until her mother explained that, no, Loring couldn't read - she was too young to know how.

So until she did learn, Loring's mother read her part to her through the first few episodes.

Loring also loved Carolyn Jones, who always called her "Miss Lisa."

Absolutely right, JJ. Codavilla supplies what we have been lacking so far, an ideological statement of purpose. All of us are deeply disturbed with the Uniparty, and Codavilla takes that idea to the next level. Ryan, McConnell et al don't get this, but they better. Time is short.

We have stepped over the threshold of a revolution. It is difficult to imagine how we might step back, and futile to speculate where it will end. Our ruling class's malfeasance, combined with insult, brought it about. Donald Trump did not cause it and is by no means its ultimate manifestation. Regardless of who wins in 2016, this revolution's sentiments will grow in volume and intensity, and are sure to empower politicians likely to make Americans nostalgic for Donald Trump's moderation.

Reminds me of that line in "A Cask of Amontillado." Rough paraphrase: "The thousand injuries of Fortunato, I had borne with grace, but when injury became insult..."

And that's exactly that. We bore up under decades of bungling and failed policies, but the sneering contempt was the straw that broke the camel's back.

It is indeed a revolution. They cut it off when they buried the Tea Party under astroturf, and they tried every dirty trick in the book to stop Trump, but the more they try to block it, the angrier and less sensible it gets. As JFK once noted, those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.

If any of our establishment "friends" are around, my advice is this: Let the Wookie win.

If you put aside the forensics, the main mission of the Clinton camp was to paint and reinforce the meme of Trump as Hitler/deranged, etc.

They failed. He presented himself as reasonable, rational and human. We might be rightly peeved that he couldn't connect on a series of giant grapefruits softly lobbed at him. But from an image and trust-building standpoint - however shallow that might be - he hit it out of the park, and perhaps sealed the deal with a lot of LIVs on the fence.

Trump hits Hillary hard, all the time - in his rallies, his interviews, on twitter, etc. He says things about Hillary *no one* has ever dared to say publicly. So then why not at the debate? I thought he was just declared blessed, but poster Tcn in Alaska corrected me (Thanks, tcn). Fr. Unzeitig was canonized. I haven't heard the tax return issue getting any traction at all in conversation, and it hardly even gets mentioned even by the press. He didn't pay taxes, and that's because the tax laws are written so that he doesn't. I just don't care but I also don't think anyone else does, so long as he was complying with the tax code and not cheating.

142 The question that wasn't asked at the debate but needed to be:

"Mr Trump, Madame Secretary, a majority of Americans find neither one of you acceptable as a choice for president. For most Americans, the two of you represent the worst candidates ever put forth by the major political parties. Most voters loathe both of you ... passionately.

"And this has resulted in a sense of overwhelming despair among American voters, solid majorities of whom report that they now envy the animals in Sarah McLachlan commercials because 'for them it will be over soon.' When a pollster asked Americans, 'If I held a gun to your head and told you had to vote for Trump or Clinton, what would you do?' nearly a third responded, 'I would ask you to pull the trigger.' In fact, this election is viewed by millions of voters as Karmic payback for slavery, the genocide of native populations, and every one of America's other sins; a choice not between the lesser of two evils, but between the less horrifying of two abominations.

"Now, addressing these wretched voters, the question to both of you is, 'Why should anyone vote for me even though the mere presence of my name on the ballot can be seen as proof that God has abandoned his creation.' You each have two minutes."

165 Codevilla's essay is necessary, if profoundly depressing reading.

If he's correct, then we are rapidly approaching a "tree of liberty" moment. I see that as a failure anyway becuz the atomization of the American public has been so effective by the Democrat/MSM/Academia
triumvirate.

I don't believe things are that bad yet.

However, I also don't believe that waving the Constitution around will solve the problem either, short of bloody revolution.

Because otherwise how are you going to replace everyone in the 3 branches of the federal gov't overnight with a Constitutional elite which is what it would take.

Obama's Chicagoization of the US as we've seen is a very powerful poison.

When Our Betters have the choice between the Constitution and the Middle Class and patriotism-

and a penny's worth of ill-gotten gains through corruption-

they choose corruption every single time.

My hope is that Trump, because he appears to love this country, will do everything in his power to roll back every single one of TFG's policies. Every. Single. One.

If he has to be as ruthless as Obama to do this, that's okay in my book. We can't play tiddly-winks while the Dims play smash the opposition with a baseball bat.

At the same the time we need to work to place, Constitutional conservatives in office whenever and wherever we can.

This is going to be a a multi-year project because there is no magic bullet.

A huge runaway election of Trump would help get the reversal started because politicians of all stripes want to be elected. This is what gave Reagan the power to do govern as he did for a awhile.

(Yes, yes, Trump is no Reagan)

But, he's the weapon we have right now.

Make no mistake about it, we are in the "Empire Strikes Back" phase of the Reagan revolution.

As the Empire is kicking our asses.

Trump isn't the choice most of us would rather have, but when you get down to it, he's a legal weasel. He's done a lot of very questionable things, but nothing legally actionable. Hillary, on the other hand, should have been in prison a long time ago, and has been allowed to skate because of her "political power", which is abhorrent to anybody that values a free society under the rule of law.

We are Americans. In every decade of our nation's life we have been faced with challenges considered impossible and foes considered invincible. None still stand. This is our heritage. Those who would cry out in despair "America and the West" now are so firmly "on a trajectory toward something very bad" that it is no longer reasonable to hope that "all human outcomes are still possible," by which he means restoration of the public and private practices that made the American republic are already mourning a loved one not yet dead. Put the shovel down, dipshits. The sun is rising.

There have been others before you who took counsel of their fears and sought to bury this nation so their foes could not. You will be forgotten as they have been. May history forget you were our countrymen.

As Cato pointed out, the Establishment has crushed legitimate, peaceful actions to turn things around. Trump is the last attempt at stopping this. If he loses, it's going to get ugly fast. If he wins and fails, it's going to be delayed a bit. If he wins and starts things rolling the other way, there's a slim chance things start to get better.

Dem voter turnout was depressed even with an actual choice during the Primaries. Now with Bernie out and only doing very limited "cameo" campaign appearances for hillary the voter turnout is going to be even less in November.

Republican turnout crushed records during the primaries and I suspect we will see record turnout numbers again in November.

Hilary hates the little people, acts as if she is royalty. There are numerous stories of her as far back as during the Arkansas days of her being a foul-mouthed angry witch to people for doing something as normal as wishing her 'good morning.'

Trump seems to love people and to feel passionately about America. I've never been a fan of Trump, never watched the Apprentice, but his attitude makes a difference.

287 A civics reminder for the Morons on nearing our election in November.

We are NOT a Democracy and never have been. As Ben Franklin said after they exited Constitution Hall in Philadelphia; we are a Republic "if you can keep it'.

So what does that mean for our upcoming elections that are only a little over a month away?

The election of the President is not based on the popular vote. It is based on how your State votes and the number of electors in your State. If you are a Republican in States like CA and MA you have no vote. Your only chance is in the Democrat primary to attempt to get the least evil communist. Conversely if you are a Democrat in States like SC you have no vote. Your best chance is to vote in the Republican primary to get the most liberal RINO you can. That is how Lindsay Graham stays in office. It is also how McShitty and Romney won the SC primaries.

However, if you live in a State that has been traditional Red but is moving purple due to a swarm of locusts moving in from failed Blue States your vote does mean something.

As always, Trump's surrogates are slow off the mark giving his side. The way they should handle it is this:

Say the Miss Universe is a job in a business that generates millions of dollars each year. Her job was to maintain her appearance just like the day she won the competition.

Let people know that when someone is working for Trump, they are expected to do the job. He will carry this ethic over to the federal government, so that phones are answered when you have a question for the IRS, or you're a veteran trying to locate your service record, or you're a senior citizen wondering where your Social Security check is.

I don't think the article was a call to give up and despair. It was sober recognition that the degradation of the country is not something that will be fixed by electing Trump alone. The Big State and Leftist Bureaucracy will still be there and we don't know that Trump understands the threat it poses. Many of his statements indicate that he's not against big government, he just thinks he can run it more efficiently.

Colevilla is pretty clear that he believes a Hillary regime would be disastrous. Trump is a question mark. At this point, I'll vote for the question mark.

What a lovely human being SHE was.And everybody knows what Bill did to those women he molested, and what Hill did to shut them up. There's no comparison.
In related news, Trump had like 20 thousand people at his rally in FL yesterday, with thousands tailgating outside hoping to get in.
That debate, whoever people think won or lost, didn't hurt Trump a bit.Meanwhile Hillary is too sick to campaign, and nobody likes her anyway. She can barely get 300 people to attend her events, and 2/3rds of them are paid union

It obviously hasn't made Mexico functional, I don't see what benefits its had here (other than making packaging unreadable with the multiple languages), so exactly what are the benefits we were supposed to see from it? Or was the entire exercise meant to make the border more porous and less protected?

This is about right. Trump's been something of a Rorschach test, people see in them what they imagine should be there, which explains both his support and his detractors, when you think about it.

As for Trump, I think he really wants to do right by people and is getting a crash course in how incoherent "the people" can be at times. Populism is a two-edged sword and even those who channel it best find it to be a fickle mistress.

The beauty of the internet is that there is no reason to embellish. Topics that might be a bit sensitive with physical friends are easy online because it's all anonymous.

It would be nice it there was an easy way to post pictures, though.

"What I saw at the coup" (or whatever it was named) starts out with a fake terrorist attack that cripples the internet and the cloud of confusion is used to eliminate "thought leaders."

Leaving only the MSM to "report."

Read what they are saying a President Trump will do. Has it risen to a level where they think they're justified--even compelled--to do this?

411 NAFTA?

NAFTA is a yuuuge lie pushed by RINOs and Democrats as a trade agreement that is supposed to reduce tariffs and trade barriers between the countries signing the treaty. As advertised it is supposed to promote free trade between signature countries in North America, hence the name North American Free Trade Agreement.

In reality it allows cheap foreign goods built with virtual slave labor to come in from low wage countries such as Mexico and very little in the way of all the rules and regulations that so break the back of American companies. Things like the EPA regs, the lead in paint rules, and all the other federal crap that goes on here and not there.

So what do they buy from us when our most produced product is lawyers and politicians? Nothing. They would buy farm equipment if the so-called import-export bank would help them. But thanks to crony corruption all that helps is big time cronies like Boeing to sell jets. Not much call for 747s by the peons in Mexico

The point of NAFTA was "low labor cost countries are going to get manufacturing anyway, we might as well try to keep some of it nearby instead of letting it all go to China, Malaysia, etc."

Posted by: chemjeff at September 28, 2016 09:51 AM (gXKl3)

You are absolutely right Chemjeff. It is amazing how far people will go once they get an idea that they are right and they know that they are right.

Like Hillary and her endless paranoia telling her that everyone is against her and wants to destroy her means every attempt by anyone to tell her differently is just another person lying to her to bring about her destruction and failure, His can only see threats and dangers, and can only ascribe maliciousness and lies and hidden actions.

This is sad. Granted it would be better if this focus would be about, say potatoes or living in a cave, or proving by logic that swallows winter in the bottoms of ponds after transforming into ooze because this supports the idea that all force of life comes from bodies of water, but that is just crankishness and an attempt to force the universe into conforming by a small circle of rules without taking into consideration that there might be more facts and interpretations than are dreamt of in some philosophy

419 This is about right. Trump's been something of a Rorschach test, people see in them what they imagine should be there, which explains both his support and his detractors, when you think about it.

Trump is essentially the Republican version of Obama. Except, you know, has actual business accomplishments. But like Obama, he says things that make no sense, is extremely light on policy, works a crowd like nobody's business, possesses excessive narcissism and is unwilling to admit error.

He's always been a better projection than an image.
