Head Gym Teacher At Rutgers Cowers Before The Thundering Herd Of Social Justice [CBD]

Rutgers AD apologizes for beer incident at tailgate party, except...it wasn't an "incident," it was a beer. A single beer, consumed at a pre-game event by an adult. That event was sponsored by the school that employs him.

Ace writes occasionally about the scolds of the world, who want nothing more than to correct the behavior of those who are not rigidly adhering to codes of behavior as defined by these scolds.

The appropriate response from the AD would be to laugh and say, "We have a world-class university; even the beer we serve at legal, school-sponsored events is great!"

Instead we get this:

"My first concern is always for the safety and well-being of our students,'' Hobbs told NJ.com. "Anyone who was at the [student tailgate] Saturday knows that I was acting to ensure that. "I regret that any action on my part can be interpreted as promoting the use of alcohol. That was certainly not my intention.''

Man up, you panty-waisted little worm. Fight back against the scolds of the world, because they are also coming for other, more important things in your life.

Like contact sports.

You know...football. The sport that makes your inflated salary a reality.

would sponsor a student tailgate at football home games, calling it "The
Alley." "The Alley" is lot about 400 yards from High Point Solutions

event. "Regrettably, due to safety concerns, The Alley is no longer

Why apologize for doing something perfectly legal? Don't empower these scolds by accepting their ground rules. He should've told them to pound sand and let it go away when the scolds find a new target.

Posted by: Grizzledcoastie at September 23, 2016 07:23 PM (GV08/)

91 Look, here's the thing: water was dangerous and could and would kill you, up until the time someone figured out how to boil it and otherwise not drink downstream from the sewer. Beer was indeed safer to drink, as was wine.

Here's the big problem with alcohol: it makes you lose your mind. Why do guys buy girls drinks? Because the girl wouldn't ever let him into her pants sober, that's why. Drunk? Well, now... different story.

Same with most other drugs, really. Plus the addiction factor... it's why libertarians are wrong when it comes to drugs, because becoming addicted means giving up your self control. And it takes great, great effort, strength, etc to get it back.

People have choice, and all, and I respect it: but never forget that alcohol is probably the single biggest cause for misery and woe in history, even more than war. Liberalism is a close second, or within shouting distance, but alcohol has very little to recommend it, and lots to recommend against it.

Plus, you don't need it to have fun.

You know, social conservatism. Self discipline.

Yes, self-discipline is conservative. Also conservative: moderation; weighing; judging; choosing.

Is it less "self-disciplined" to drink in moderation than never to drink? I think it is more (and I don't drink).

That said, I'm not a full-blown libertarian in favor of heroin for whomever wants it. Society has to make some judgement calls, but once they have, the scolds need to STFU. Adults drinking a beer would seem to fit the bill.

One of the pepdaughters was on the HS crew team. On our away regattas, we spent most of our time in the hotel hallways trying to tamp down the student's rampant attempts to get in each other's pants. One of the parents brought liquor for the adults, but we were all warned by the nannies that we had to be surreptitious in indulging, lest we set a bad example. So we drank like we were stealing Mom and Dad's booze.

My response was, drinking in front of them is a "good" example. To wit, grow up, live your life as a responsible citizen, and you get certain privileges that you entitled little worms haven't earned. Take the hint.

My opinion did not prevail.

137 FYI

n the wake of two sailors going public with their decision to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement by refusing to stand when the Star Spangled Banner is played, Navy Reserve Forces Command today published guidance warning troops that they can be punished or prosecuted for such protests.

A message directed at active-duty sailors and reserve personnel on active duty cites Navy Regulation 1205, which mandates that personnel in uniform must stand at attention and face the flag when the national anthem is played. It also notes that a Navy administrative message published in 2009 requires Navy active-duty personnel in civilian clothes to face the flag, stand at attention, and place their right hand over their heart.

Failure to comply with these regulations, the message said, is punishable under Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and constitutes commission of a serious offense grounds for administrative separation from the service.

157 I merely want to point out that abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, and premarital sex is a good thing. Each one of those practices almost always have nothing but trouble with them.

Moderation, if you can do it, is of course always better than being Hillary, and yes, people who drink responsibly are doing well.

But it's way to easy to have just one more... and your life is destroyed.

Better to not start at all. Especially when, like me, you have an addictive personality. I am pretty sure I'm an alcoholic, even though I've never had a drink--but if I did, I probably wouldn't stop.

I don't expect everyone to stop drinking, and I don't want the government to ban it... but the world would be a better place if everyone chose not to drink, or do drugs, or smoke. Much pain and misery would be avoided; marriages saved, etc.

Teetotalers are not bad people, is what I'm saying.

Their drinking caused me problems because I would have to fix their crapy coding at 2 a.m. when their programs blew up during the nightly batch run.

"A Dallas [BLM] activist was released from prison Wednesday just eight days after he reported to prison to serve a five-year sentence for seriously injuring a child by shaking him.

A spokesman for the Texas prison system said Friday that when state District Judge Gracie Lewis noted the date of the beginning of Dominique Alexanders's sentence on paperwork, she wrote that it was July 2011.

The judge counted the time Alexander lived in the free world on probation as part of his time served.

162 I think they were worried that someone might take a drink and then have sex. Since that would be rape if a girl was the one who had a drink under the new progressive rules of permissible sex then the University would risk being an accessory to rape.

UT was sued recently in a Title IX shakedown and one of the charges was that they played rap music at school functions which helped establish a hostile atmosphere and contributed to creating a rape culture. The whole complaint was larded up pretty good with crap like that. Drinking was mentioned as well.
