This black-and-white photo of "The Enchanted Pose" by Rene Magritte is the only image of the painting that disappeared in nearly 80 years ago. A piece of the missing painting was just discovered in Britain.Apparently Magritte just cut the damned thing up. And that is just fine with me..... H/T Mis. Hum. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

So basically Magritte got a post-op tranny who was a pre-op stevedore and then posed him. Then Magritte came down off the absinthe, went "Da fuq was I thinking?" (in French, of course), and cut the damn thing up.

Magritte's works never appealed to me. They come across as making fun of the viewer (See how clever I am and you are not!) versus letting the viewer enjoy the joke. And the 'absurd' art of that period gets tired damn fast. Maybe I'm just in a cranky mood this morning.

OT, latest missive from my liberal friend, submitted without further comment, for your edification and amusement:
"The Debate" - September 27, 2016 Finally, the country got to see why there is only one choice to be our next president, and that choice is Hillary Rodham Clinton. She made her case with facts, grace and passion, despite Trump's obvious and odious verbal and non-verbal interruptions. Mr. Trump refused, under the most important spotlight he will ever face, to answer any of Lester Holt's questions with specifics, and again denied saying things and taking positions that are repeatedly on the record. Hillary Clinton offered a positive vision of America, said how she would achieve it and pay for it, while Trump said he would "Make America Great Again, again. Hillary Clinton stands for the average American, for the middle class, for the working poor, for kids and the environment. Trump stands for nothing but Trump. At the end of the evening there was really no debate. Hillary Clinton is the only qualified candidate to lead the nation. The MFM will say very little about Holt's conduct in the debate, but what little they do say will be so out of sync with reality (he was a perfect moderator) as to be laughable. I have this suspicion that this issue doesn't play to the general public nearly as well as the elite think it does. Most voters just simply do not care about tax returns. #1. If there was anything hinky in Trump's returns, the IRS would be all over him like a chicken on a June bug. #2. I'd be damned surprised if he didn't have two or more agents assigned to him/his account/returns full time. #3. Why is it the concern or John Q Public anyway? Mostly, I am just angry that Trump missed eleventy 4 inch putts where he could have wailed on Hillary. He could have simply taken a page from the democrat playbook and just refused to answer the question and immediately ask Hillary why she "fill in the evil bitch's resume".
He didn't do that. The most egregious was the cyber question, which was a massive face plant for him, since it didn't even dawn on him to ask why she had a piss sprinkled server in her bathroom and why the FBI let her off scott free but said they would prosecute any other average Joe or Jane. I think Hillary won last night. Trump was unprepared and tried to wing
it, missing several chances to hit her hard. I'm sure he was told to be "nice" to her and Holt was as biased as you would expect. Hillary successfully baited him into talking extemporaneously about topics that he shouldn't have been. Like his business and "small loan from daddy", like his boast that he would consider it "winning" if he didn't pay any taxes, like his claim that he has a "great temperament" (lol I don't think even Trump's superfans would make that claim). Trump did not hit Hillary back on topics that he should have, such as on her email server or Benghazi or on her own shady connections to the Russians or her health or anything else. There was one line about her 33,000 deleted emails but that is about it. On the few policy issues that were discussed, they were both in disturbing agreement. Both are anti-due-process in wanting to deny constitutional rights to individuals put on a shadowy government list based only on the word of some bureaucrat, with no judge's order and no conviction of a jury, not even an indictment. Both want to out-spend each other with family leave welfare. Overall, quite disappointing. In other words, normal for this year. Posted by: chemjeff at September 27, 2016 10:59 AM (gXKl3) 378
Don't be silly. Trump has purposely decided not to raise and spend money on his own.

The Uniparty and the Media failed because the second part of their plan was to have all of these instant online polls up an running hoping that all the racists would vote for Hillary winning the debate.
She lost every poll so they lost the narrative and lost at the end. If she had won half of those polls the media would be singing that she won voters and point to the polls. I'm ok with them losing their two staged gambit. Posted by: Pepe, The Irredeemable at September 27, 2016 11:00 AM (96C7R) 380

I'm an editor/journalist. I think journalists are lover on the appreciation scale than lawyers. Now, I'm a trade journalist so I have an expert audience that expects value from our product so all of the MSM narratives and opinion casting won't fly. In fact I work with a lot of the sources you might see on CNBC or FoxBusiness and cover much of the same ground but with greater detail, focus and actual insight given our specialization. I'm seldom impressed, even when the bias is not apparent, with the quality of coverage our industry receives from the MSM or most of my interaction with these folk when they come looking for more specialized insight. Shrinking news rooms don't help with those folk. Posted by: Keith at September 27, 2016 11:03 AM (USf3s) 394

She clearly made one huge unforced error. Her embrace of the Iran deal was unnecessary (that disaster was on Kerry's watch). Trump was eliminating the objections - sometimes by "agreeing" with Hillary and going one further (yes guns in the hands of bad ppl are bad, that's why need stop and trial), other times by correcting the record despite Lester. >>Again ???, I know Trump is independently wealthy but where is it printed that the Presidential Candidate has to self fund his campaign? What Candidate in the past has self funded in the General Election?
Last night in the debate, Trump said to Hillary "you've spent $200 million in negative advertising against me and I haven't spent anything." Do you think Hillary has spent $200 million of her own money? Of course not, he was talking about the two campaigns just like I was. Again, I never said Trump had to spend his own money. Yes, Trump is now soliciting money. I get the emails too. He's changed more than a couple things since getting his new campaign team. Posted by: JackStraw at September 27, 2016 11:14 AM (/tuJf) 431

As I said, Trump looked unprepared. But there was something in the somewhat silly Ralph Kramden faces he was making (didn't he know they would be using a split screen??) while Hillary was talking that gave me the impression that he was frustrated as though somehow agreed upon "rules" weren't being followed and he knew he was being had--and didn't know how to change his game plan.
Did anyone else get that impression while watching? Posted by: JoeF. at September 27, 2016 11:15 AM (cui1Q) 438
Minority view is held by Newt G, Mika B, Scott Adams and me. Neither will gain or lose with the already committed, but Trump will gain more with undecideds, even if Hillary "won" after a week off the road preparing.
True test is whether polls move. Early Breitbart poll fits with what I wrote above. More people thought Hillary won the debate. But Trump is already + 2% with undecideds. From here to November, there's now little that can go wrong for Trump, and Hillary still has a lot of exposure. Jane, the one in the mid-Atlantic looks like it will - if it develops - head over the Lesser Antilles, get into the Caribbean, and perhaps take a hook NW slip by Cuba and the Yucatan, then rumble across the Gulf. Or simply go head first into Venezuela.

Posted by: OregonMuse at September 27, 2016 11:12 AM (Jt6/X) To an extent, yes. I heard some talking on the radio this morning, commending her for being able to withstand the pressure of being in the spotlight all the time. Now, that's simply not true, but that's the narrative coming from some circles, and really, the narrative is the point. So we'll see how long she can sustain it. Frankly, I don't think she can. I think it gets harder from here. Posted by: BurtTC at September 27, 2016 11:18 AM (TOk1P) 444

I am just enjoying the WGN Chicago take on Lester's performance. He was supposed to really get in there and take charge to make sure no 'lies' were said. They seem upset that Lester Holt didn't slam-dunk that Republican for Hillary and truthiness. I think that means that DJT won.

>>Did anyone else get that impression while watching?
Yes. Here's my theory: It was all about the so-called fact-checking. Hillary's responses were brimming with stats and verifiable details. She did that purposely, and in my opinion, with full knowledge of the debate questions. Just hours before the debate her team got several news outlets to agree to "fact-check" the debate in real time. When they agreed, her team had their list of facts to "check" handy and passed them off to these networks so that *her* facts would be broadcast. Posted by: Lizzy at September 27, 2016 11:21 AM (NOIQH) 453
Go back and most pundits said Nixon won the debate in 1960 on "points." Even in 1980 most political pundits said Carter won the debate on "points." It's not about points.

Posted by: JoeF. at September 27, 2016 11:15 AM ***** That is exactly my impression as well. He seemed to be fighting his natural instincts the whole time. His facial expressions showed extreme frustration but he seemed to be purposely holding back. I think he was coached to not attack her in any way that would be perceived as forceful, rude, or gentlemanly. Posted by: L, Elle at September 27, 2016 11:23 AM (6IPEM) 455

Hill's goals last night were to not appear deathly ill, and to get through the debate without collapsing, blanking out, or sharting. She accomplished both goals, to the great applause of the MSM

Here is what people are missing on the debate: the vast majority of American voters are not political junkies like we are. From the perspective of the undecided voter (the people who matter in this election) Trump came off as a reasonable candidate for President of the United States. That is a huge win for him. Wonky win for Hillary was meaningless because it effectively changed no minds; Trump voters still for Trump - Hillary voters still idiots.
Yes Hillary could have rhetorically been sent flying several times - but EVERYONE could see that. Trump would have come off as mean if he had done that. No average person wants to see some poor old lady - who they know can barely stand up - get punched in the face. 100,000,000 people saw Hillary last night, her biggest audience ever - the more people see of her - the less they like her. Stick a fork in Hillary - she is done. Posted by: An Observation at September 27, 2016 11:25 AM (SAMq1) Posted by: bluebell at September 27, 2016 11:25 AM (xpSCc) 460
