Probably not a lot of world class painters from Colombia, I suspect it is because they all try to emulate Fernando Botero

The Tintoreto is lovely, such a wonderful series of brush strokes to bring out the hair, and show texture. Looks so 19th Century.

105 If you are looking for a tailor, ask at the dry-cleaners. A lot of them either refer out for repairs, or know who brings in stuff for cleaning and pressing after alterations.

I was thinking that if I had Kaperdick's money, instead of bitching and whining and claiming to be oppressed, I would set a bunch of dressmakers or sewers up as collection points for a dry-cleaners so they could do work out front for themselves, collect and prep dry cleaning, and do repairs on the side.

Unlike other images of courtesans, who generally look directly at the viewer, this model avoids eye contact while unabashedly baring her bosom. The artist proposes a subtly erotic game that is more suggestive than exhibitionist. The frontal presentation of the young woman's breast is countered by a facial profile that hides her identity from the viewer, imbuing the work with an air of mystery that increases its sensuality."

246 So, this idiot wrote a column about garden slugs today.

"I didn't choose the slug life; the slug life chose me. It all started when a tawny-colored slug showed up on my porch when I was 4 years old. I gave him a name that only a kid could love: Foo Foo. I loved Foo Foo and considered him my first companion animal. I even built him a Lincoln Log cabin to live in, but much to my chagrin, he preferred my mom's container garden."

And it continues with this horror:

"Everything was fine in our world until one fateful family gathering. Word in the yard was my uncle was going to do a magic trick. Magic? Yes, please! Elbowing my way through a gaggle of gangly arms and legs five cousins deep, I arrived just in time to hear my uncle say "abracadabra" and sprinkle salt on Foo Foo. I watched in horror as my Foo Foo melted into a sickening, greasy stain. I was inconsolable."

WASHINGTON -- A congressman says Hillary Clinton's former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and two other staff members were granted immunity deals in exchange for their cooperation in the now-closed FBI investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, tells the Associated Press that Mills gave federal investigators access to her laptop on the condition that findings couldn't be used against her. Chaffetz says, "No wonder they couldn't prosecute a case. They were handing out immunity deals like candy."

Chaffetz says the two others granted immunity were John Bentel, then-director of the State Department's Office of Information Resources Management, and Clinton aide Heather Samuelson. Two other people were previously identified as receiving immunity deals.

384 I'm sure it's been pointed out before that the debate will be 2 against 1. Trump vs Hillary and the moderator.

Posted by: HH at September 23, 2016 11:52 AM (DrCtv)

385 The Cheryl Mills immunity agreement is one more nail in the coffin of this fundamentally flawed investigation.

Mills is as complicit as Hillary in this mess -- perhaps even more so, depending on how much Hillary really knew, and when. Indictments should have been brought against Mills and Abedin -- they should have been grilled and, perhaps, offered a deal if they would agree to flip on Hillary.

Posted by: Revenant at September 23, 2016 11:53 AM (3DSAh)

386 10 to 1 odds Hillary goes into a 5 minute coughing fit to avoid answering a question. They should have a second window of Trump's reaction during it (in which he puts up flash cards)

If you think about it, if the podiums are at the same height to accomodate Trump's height(so he doesn't have to bend over to reach the mic or have a microphone extension that's two feet tall, Granny Spaz probably couldn't see over the podium. She would have to have some kind of step or riser, or her podium would have to look like one for a kindergardener.

470 465 Hillary has a particularly nasty new add out with poor unattractive little girls looking in the mirror and having the sadz because Trump insults Womens looks..... Sexist... Hey Hillary what about your rapist husband?

I see it's been mentioned...

471 Like many of you, I don't think I can watch the debate. I'm afraid it will be too cringe-worthy.

I'll just come here to read the comments.

I think there's a very real possibility of some Dem operative in the MSM slipping the questions to Team Hillary! beforehand.

I think Trump should bring this up. "Excuse me, everybody knows how biased you all are against me and in favor of my opponent, what assurances can you give the American public that you did not slip tonight's debate questions to Hillary Clinton's handlers prior to this broadcast?"

I can't believe that they are so inept to open themselves up like this. Clinton may regret going down this road.

476 The debate. Yeah, I don't want to watch it. It's the fate of The Republic hanging in the balance. Not sure that I can stand it.

On the other hand, it's like driving past a car wreck. Difficult not to look.

478 I don't want to watch it either but as Mike H said - like a car wreck I can't not watch it. I will have to ensure that I have a good bottle of wine to stand it.

479 I don't think I'll even stay up the night of the election to watch the results come in.

I went to bed in tears in '12. The next day I stayed in and pretty much walked around the house in a daze.

I never again want to experience an election like that.

Yeah, you're probably right.

Posted by: OregonMuse at September 23, 2016 12:20 PM (HRgiw)

482 Ha, Brunnhilde, I know what you meant, don't worry.

I suspect my husband and I will watch a show from a series we are watching on Netflix. Then afterwards, my husband will click around the channels like he always does (why do men feel compelled to do this?), and he will land on the debate, so we will probably see a minute or two, and that will be it.

I'm not even sure I want to read about it the next day. This whole election makes me more nervous the closer it gets.

Posted by: bluebell at September 23, 2016 12:20 PM (xpSCc)

483 I think the first debate will essentially be a tag-team event, with Lester and Hillary trading off hits and tough questions against Trump.

Trump wins if he keeps his cool and responds coherently. Like others have said, the MSM and Hillary have set a low bar for Trump to hurdle.

And I'm aggravated by voters who worry that Trump will get us into a war. We are already in a war - the War On Terror. It's Barry's disgrace that we've been engaged with an implacable enemy with so little to show for results that the American people have written our efforts. Efforts paid for with the blood of brave men and women, and with the suffering of their loved ones.

Posted by: mrp at September 23, 2016 12:20 PM (JBggj)

484 Trump could completely destroy that attack ad she has out attacking his treatment of women by simply doing one thing.

He acts the gentleman and offers to help her. Of course she will refuse.

But the message will be clear. And if Hillary! planks the floor afterwards...

485 Ace said yesterday he plans to be up late Monday night covering it, so I'll just come here for the comments.

Unless I read Hillary! has fallen off the stool or had a melt-down.

Then, it will be must-see TV.

495 I went to bed in tears in '12. The next day I stayed in and pretty much walked around the house in a daze.

I went out into my yard in the morning and issuing forth horrible cursing, proceeded to tear my Romney yard signs to shreds. I'm sure the neighbors got a bit of entertainment out of that.

Its the 99th "Birthday" of some luchador wrestler that went by "The Saint." He died in 1984. So there's probably some stupid reason Google is promoting it.

498 In went to work at our church food pantry the day after Romney lost. Someone said in a cheery tone, "So is everybody happy about Obama winning?" "I'm not", I said every loudly. I usually don't share my political opinions at church related things unless someone asks me first.

503 @424: Probably several factors figure into that. In part, the sample might be weighted toward Democrats. But, on the other hand, people tend to "forget" having voted for the losing candidate in the last presidential election. (This is a trend that's been seen in polls going back decades.) Some of the poll respondents may have voted for Romney but not want to admit it now.
