The same thing happens when ordinary, law-abiding citizens feel the justice system is broken. Other things will step in to fill the void. Basically, common law was established to stop a rather primitive but all-pervasive human trait: revenge/vigilanteism.

Um, that won't work. You still get taxed on a salary that's paid to you by a nonprofit.

But under the Clinton Crime Family Foundation model, you can have a nonprofit "charity" supply you with a billionaire's lifestyle -- private jets, posh office space, fancy meals, fat expense accounts, etc. -- and the charity writes it off as a business expense and you don't bother to treat is as income on your own tax return.

Questionable? Sure. But if you're ever audited by the IRS and you're lucky enough to be a high-profile Democrat, just say you didn't INTEND to evade taxes, and mention James Comey's name!

112 His ex got a lot of money by threatening to go public. Now if Brock gets indicted, his ex boyfriend still gets away with $850K. ha!

Just last week, The Daily Caller reported the following:

"Brock's former long-time live-in boyfriend William Grey (whom Brock has thanked in several of his books ) threatened to go to the IRS with damaging information about how Brock was running his Media Matters empire. What did Brock do? He paid Grey $850,000 to keep quiet. Brock reportedly had to sell his home in Rehoboth, Delaware to come up with the money. This certainly seems to indicate that Brock was terrified about what the authorities would uncover."

Adding to this, Fox News reported the following:

"Grey accused Brock of "financial malfeasance" and threatened to undermine Brock's fundraising efforts.

"Next step is I contact all your donors and the IRS," Grey wrote in an email dated May 19, 2010. "This is going to stink for you if you do not resolve this now.""

We believe that the information presented in this article is what has Brock so terrified. We feel confident in saying, with close to absolute certainty, that David Brock is laundering money through his Media Matters conglomerate.

John Bolton on Obama's Internet Handover: 'Within Ten Years, the Internet as We Know It Will End'

We wouldn't have a chance to see crazy old woman begging for votes, that is for sure.

But because it's entirely a U.S. government proposition with U.S. people involved, the Internet has been free and open. If, as the Administration wants to do, it's transferred to an international body, I will predict right here: within 10 years it will come under the control of the United Nations, and the Internet as we know it will end because there are governments around the world that are already doing everything they can to prevent a free and open Internet in their countries, and it will extend to ours in due course.

Bolton called the Internet handover "a mistake of such colossal proportions that you would have thought we'd have a huge debate about it in this country."

200 I think the estate tax isn't a tax on income, its technically an excise tax on the privilege of transferring property after death.

At common law, individuals aren't entitled to make a will, or to dispose of their property (I believe that stems from the fact that English Common Law descends from feudal times where inheritance laws were enacted as a privilege of the Crown -- individuals were not entitled to devise property after their death except in a manner proscribed by the King). This is why laws governing wills are constructed strictly in the US -- you don't have an innate privilege to will your property to another, you only are entitled to do what statutory law allows you to do.

The death tax is an excise tax placed upon that privilege.

Word. This allows the Gordon Gekkos of the world and corporations the size of small states to come in wreck chaos and havoc to divide and conquer the family after the death in order to take over the farm/business.

Same goes for the government as well with the crap they pull.

Inheritance tax or death tax is the definition of a Klepocracy and of Marxism.

Plenty to Tax once the heirs receive their birthright over their lifetimes.

The whole name of income subject to income tax is "earned income". But death taxes have always been around as a major tax source for both federal and States. That, excise taxes, and tariffs were the major sources of tax prior to the income tax.

--God bless feudal monarchy. You would think that the Founding generation would have made a sharp departure from this particular exercise of crown privilege (and perhaps they thought they were by allowing the state to individually pass their own inheritance laws, which allowed the people to do things like create a will and pass property in the first place).Once something is accepted by the people as a traditionally acceptable tax, its almost impossible to extinguish.

Ah, you see the absurdity of obsolete so-called "morality!" Perhaps you have read my brilliant essay, "Who, Whom."

You are approaching correctness. What matters is never WHAT is done but WHO does what to WHOM.
For example, a bourgeois Oppressor who kills a member of the Victim class for any reason whatsoever (including self-defense) is a filthy murderer. But a member of the Victim class who kills an Oppressor for any reason whatsoever (including I-just-felt-like-it) is not.

It's not that the Victim-class person "gets away with" a crime, though. There IS no crime.

288 The federal government imposes a tax on the total value of your estate. They also impose limits during your lifetime on what you can transfer to your heirs. If that exceeds a certain value you get part of that estate you've just inherited confiscated.

They don't care that it is your legally owned propriety which you already paid taxes on. They want a cut to transfer that to your heirs

Of course many states also have estate taxes as well. But many are trying to push up the limits or get rid of them all together. That's because some states like Florida don't have an estate tax. So for example the people from Connecticut are now moving or becoming Florida residents to eliminate that tax.

It's killing the treasury in Connecticut who has bilked people for years.

It's confiscation of property you've earned over your lifetime and the ultimate subversion of liberty.

296 We make it easy for them by going along. We make it simple by defaulting to the old rules. But there are no rules anymore, certainly none that morally bind us once we are outside the presence of some government worker with a gun to force our compliance. There is only will and power and we must rediscover our own. If there is no cop sitting right there, then there is nothing to make you stop at that stop sign tonight.

They don't realize that by rejecting the rule of law, they have set us free. We are independent. We owe them nothing - not respect, not loyalty, not obedience.

Even simpler: it is wrong to go around physically assaulting people, but if someone is trying to kill you, it is absolutely moral to do what in normal circumstances would be immoral.

The two events (being the first to attack, vs defending yourself) are not symmetrical, though the actions might be the same.

By behaving lawlessly, the left can be treated as the lawless are treated, and they can't complain about it, since resisting them is the right thing to do. The rules in that circumstance are different from what takes place normally.

This is all very simple. The left must be stopped by any means necessary. Any scruples people have about that is due to fallacious thinking. The left would encourage you to have an excessively timorous conscience, because they want to win at any cost. But there is no ethical reason for you to believe what they say. Quite the reverse.

The Feds have any moral claim on me, as they strangle and degrade the country and cruise towards lavish retirements (oh - rank and file included, not just DOJ racist big shots or assorted Beltway vermin)? A fireman standing holding a sign demanding even more lavish compensation on election days deserves my respect or support?

The rot is deep and pervasive. A Trump victory could be useful in some ways depending on later developments, but the historically elusive and crucial public service ethic and civic culture that the US has uniquely enjoyed is mostly gone, and like some manufacturing jobs it ain't coming back.

369 "but surely there have been more corrupt politicians in the history of these United States."

In the past you couldn't steal on the scale, and with the impunity, that you can now.

Here's just one example of what you find when you turn over a rock:

You'll recall that during the Ebola scare, Obama appointed a DC lawyer to be his Ebola Czar. But he already had a Pandemic Czar at CDC, Doctor Nicole Lurie who was responsible for co-ordinating our national response to any and all pandemics. He needed the DC lawyer to divert attention from Lurie because she had become Radioactive for pushing through a $500 million no-bid CDC contract for the development of a small pox vaccine that wasn't needed. The major stockholder of the company that got this contract was Ron Perelman, a billionaire takeover artist and big Obama bundler. No vaccine was ever produced. Andy Stern -- head of the progressive union SEIU -- was on the board and given stock. Literally no "private" individual has visited Obama in the White House more than Andy Stern.

What made Lurie radioactive during the Ebola crisis was that another company had unsuccessfully protested the no-bid contract saying that it could produce a vaccine that was not only good for small pox but other diseases as well -- including Ebola! This company actually created the product, but its supply was in short supply during the crisis. Couldn't let that come to light.

I believe in the scientific method as a way of solving problems that are amenable to its use (i.e., ones where phenomena can be objectively measured, or otherwise observed in a way that leads no room for doubt about the observation itself, but rather perhaps the interpretation or explanation of the phenomenon).*

To be clear, by scientific method I mean the collection of observations (the taxonomic phase), the construction of hypotheses to explain the collected observations (the modeling phase), the contrivance and conduct of experiments (or measurements) that can falsify the hypothesis(es), the modification or rejection of hypotheses contradicted by those experiments, and so on.

The scientific method as an intellectual tool is invaluable for extracting new knowledge for everything from high energy physics to car repair. The method cannot be used in, e.g., matters of faith or values, where the observations are either not to hand or are themselves in doubt.

* Note how this differs from AGW, where the putative observation is so very much in doubt.

380 Well, the thing about Tammany Hall or modern day Chicago-

is that they are small shit-pits restricted in size and scope by the boundaries of the city, county, whatevs.

Thus, They can survive for a long time because of the productivity of the citizens outside their influence.

Obama's big innovation was Chicago-style corruption and robbery of the whole country....

$9T disappeared.

How much into his cronies pockets and how much into his? How much has Soros scooped up?

The problem is that their corruption and thievery affect every single person in the US.

The MSM should be having a field day exposing this filth. The Republican Party as well, but-

Nope.

385 "I'm not sure that Tammany Hall was nearly as evil as the current crop of robbers we have.
At least the common man got something in return for his vote."

Having grown up in Chicago during the career of Hizzoner da late Mare Daley, I have always believed that old-school political corruption was rooted in American egalitarianism; useful corruption was available to all levels of society.
The wino got five bucks and a pack of smokes for voting; the working stiff got a bag of groceries from the precinct captain when he was laid off; the businessman got a ticket fixed or a code violation overlooked, and so on up the ladder to the cronies getting the big contracts.
Now there is a distinct attitude of government being .... weaponized ? against the citizenry.

But I'll assume you peeled that banana and put it in your ass so you could put it in my dessert, assuming you knew I'd be eating it and could infiltrate however I was making it, maybe you bribed the staff? You're so, uh, so stupid, yeah, heh heh, so stupid, you tried to return your ass, heh. I guess there was a department where you could return asses or maybe it was body parts.
