Larry Sabato Shifts a Raft of Senate Race Predictions, All Towards the Republicans

Read it and giggle like a lunatic.

Three "Leans Democrat" have become "Toss Up," one "Leans Republican" becomes "Safe Republican."

Check out Ohio, where "Leans Democrat" has flipped to "Leans Republican."

And a lot of "Likely Democrat" seats have shifted to "Leans Democrat."

Wow, Trump is really destroying this party.

SenatePredictions.png

The corrupt Claire McCaskill blames "Dark Money," and Bloomberg happily repeats this a bunch of times.

The big Republican donors that give dark money, the Koch brothers and all the rest of them, they’re panicky about Donald Trump, so they’re all in with Mitch McConnell and Republican senators," Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri said in an interview last week, referring to the Senate majority leader. "We don’t have as many of those types that have real huge money and can give lots of money. The ones that we have are also panicked about Donald Trump and they’re giving to Hillary Clinton."

...

Democrats still have far more pickup opportunities than Republicans, and a swing in their favor of a few points could still net them several more seats than the four they need to win the majority if Clinton wins the White House.

Yet concerns about the Republican fundraising advantage are a refrain heard from many lawmakers.

"The dark money is really swamping these Senate races, and the question is can we garner enough resources - we’ll never garner as much as they have - but can we garner enough resources that we can at least get our message through. If we can, we’ll be fine and we’ll take the Senate," McCaskill said.

How many times are they going to let this twisted bitch babble about "dark money"?

131 They got flooded by progtards fleeing the high taxes of MA and CT all while claiming they were moving north "for the lifestyle". They've been steadily remaking the Live Free Or Die state into carbon copies of the socialist workers' paradises they fled from in the first place.

like Oregon gets Californians I guess,,,

Like California got erstwhile residents of MA, NJ, NY, IL, and MN, starting 40 years ago.

Liberals flee the high taxes, onerous regulatory atmosphere, bankrupt finances, and crime rates of their liberal hellholes. Looking around they say, "Here's a nice state" - little noticing it is conservative - and move there. But ... there's something missing ... ah yes, the liberal programs and policies that they fled from in the first place. Eventually, they flee the host for yet another state.

It's a maddening progression. Unfortunately, it seems hosts never recover, even after passing the high water mark of the liberal infestation (as CA has now done; more people are leaving than arriving).

Because it is a scary sounding issue where the vampiric bloated capitalists like the Koch Brothers and Romney are going to buy the election and then run the country like a Dickensian workhouse where the poor will be reduced to wearing rags and eating gruel, poor Oliver Twist will be beaten, and they will laugh with their plutocratic friends over the feast.

It is an emotional reaction that they are going for, not a rational reaction. You cannot beat emotions with reason.

As for Hillary's eyes, its been a while now I've noticed they are often pointing different directions. This is a classic and very common reaction to a heavy concussion, but also many different types of neurological disorders. Which clearly she's suffering from -- something very dire, but controllable, barely, through heavy medication.

Which is part of why she has the dark glasses all the time (notice she's not wearing them so much now? The comments caught up with them). To cover up her straying eyeballs.

24 of the the 34 seats up for re-election are held by Republicans. Compare that to 2 years from now, where it's 8 out of 33. If the Dems are to really hurt the Republican hold on the Senate, this is the year. But the Republicans will have two great opportunities for pick-ups in the next two cycles.

281 The piece mentions the "GOP fundraising surge".

It doesn't delve into the Democrats' finances.

There are inflection points in campaign seasons where The Money will stop backing candidates and parties who are perceived to be on the road to losses.

You can bet that the Democrats will continue to get lots of Hollyweird and Silicon Valley cash no matter what, because there's public virtue-signalling to be done even in a losing cause.

But the quiet private donors -- the ones who don't give to campaigns to make a public relations splash but rather to gain influence with winners -- those donors may be backing off of Hillary and her downticket candidates.

Note also that the Clintonworld machine is a huge hungry furnace burning cash. Even a small downtick in donor numbers means trouble for them.

131 They got flooded by progtards fleeing the high taxes of MA and CT all while claiming they were moving north "for the lifestyle". They've been steadily remaking the Live Free Or Die state into carbon copies of the socialist workers' paradises they fled from in the first place.

like Oregon gets Californians I guess,,,

.....

Unfortunately, it seems hosts never recover, even after passing the high water mark of the liberal infestation (as CA has now done; more people are leaving than arriving).

....

Yeah, but being proggs, how do they multiply? There's the trick.

The idea that a Republican like Paul Ryan gets "credit" for calling Trump a racist is lunacy. All it does is hurt the entire ticket.

The Steyers and the Soros' of the world ive much more to the dems directly than the right could ever hope to get from the Kochs and others. I think Opensecrets or one of those listed the donors. Reid and this witch know absolutely that they are full of shit. add in the donations in kind into shit like People for the American Way, Media Matters and the Center for American Progress as well as money put up by every no-dick union and it isn't even close.

Back in the 70s, one of my ham radio buddies was the flight director for U-2 operations at Beale AFB. So he let me visit and he took me out to the runway and I got to see both the U-2 and SR-71 take off. It's amazing to watch them suddenly go vertical a very short distance down the runway.

The Steelers vs. Redskins game scored a 9.1 in Nielsen's NLSN +0.44% metered market ratings while the 49ers vs. Rams posted a 7.1, according to Deadline. The early game was down 7% from 2015's MNF opener while Game 2 fell a whopping 25% with San Francisco viewers actually outnumbering L.A. That's not the start the league was hoping to have in the country's second-largest media market.

I find this really interesting. There is a whole segment of the population, including the concern trolls, who use religious or monarchical language to describe politics. It's as if they don't grasp the nature of our political system (which is true of many). The President is not the king or a god. Voting is not a religious or "troth pledging" act. You do understand Trump is running as a Republican candidate, on the Republican ticket, right? You grasp the concept?IfTrump doesn't have any coattails and the GOP loses the Senate as a result, then Trump will have zero leverage, meaning any legislation he favors and promotes would be more or less DOA and would result in a failed presidency.

One would presume that would be a bad thing for a Trump supporter.

324 Im looking at the voting trends since 1940. There are two possibilities for an election: trend or blowout

Neither of them look good for Hillary.

If its a trend election, Trump wins with about 52% of the vote.

If its a blowout election, Trump wins with about 56% of the vote.

341 Bitcoin qualifies as money, a federal judge ruled on Monday, in a decision linked to a criminal case over hacking attacks against JPMorgan Chase Co and other companies.

U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan in Manhattan rejected a bid by Anthony Murgio to dismiss two charges related to his alleged operation of Coin.mx, which prosecutors have called an unlicensed bitcoin exchange.

Murgio had argued that bitcoin did not qualify as "funds" under the federal law prohibiting the operation of unlicensed money transmitting businesses.

But the judge, like her colleague Jed Rakoff in an unrelated 2014 case, said the virtual currency met that definition.

"Bitcoins are funds within the plain meaning of that term," Nathan wrote. "Bitcoins can be accepted as a payment for goods and services or bought directly from an exchange with a bank account. They therefore function as pecuniary resources and are used as a medium of exchange and a means of payment."

354 Every single political pundit has been 100% completely wrong on every prediction they have made this election cycle.

They started out with Trump is a loser and will drop out when he loses a couple of States. That changed to Trump can never win a big State in the Primary which then morphed into Trump will never win the Primary because Jeb! is outspending him 100-1.

Once he won the Primary they started in that he would never crack 20% in any polls. Once that happened, it changed to he will never hit 30%, then 40% and finally he is at his ceiling and will never get 50% of the popular vote. Never mind that hillary doesn't even come close either.

Once Trump won the Primary then they started on the doom and gloom that he would literally poison all of the down ticket races and cost the Republicans both the House and the Senate. Once it appeared the House was secure they started back in on losing the Senate because of racist hater Trump.

Then it was Trump will lose the Hispanic and Black vote and get crushed by hillary because he is a racist hater. Never mind that he is leading where Romney was with both groups at this point in the cycle.

The one big doozy I saw was that hillary would have it in the bag by Labor Day and be 20+ points in front of Trump in all of the national polls.

366 Sign to watch on predictions in Senate races, if the Democrat Senate candidates start to run away from Hillary and refuse to appear with her citing things like scheduling conflicts, then she may be toast in that state and acting as an anchor particularly if she depresses Dem. turnout. Internal polls are generally more accurate than what we see for a well financed incumbent/challenger. Dems have depended recently on massive turnout in presidential races in order to buttress their Senate candidates electability.

Ironically, Republican Senate candidates keeping their distance from Trump could help both Trump and the candidates. It ensures nervous voters that Trump's excesses could be checked and that the Repub. candidate will be independent of Trump.

On the other hand, just like the alleged GHWB endorsement of Hillary, Republican Senate candidates staying away from Trump buffs his outsider appeal to "Les Deplorables" segment of voters. Win-win.

Neurological symptoms include unsteady gait, incontinence, palsy, seizures, ataxia, and paralysis.

- Mood disturbances;
- Personality changes, apathy, poor judgment.

About 10% to 20% of people with neurosyphilis general paresis experience psychotic symptoms that include hallucinations and paranoia. Some people display what we think of as the classic symptoms of grandiose delusions -- people who thought they were kings, presidents and prime ministers.

498 Re SH @ 469
Republicans always seem to spend their ad money during the last 3 months or so. Alternatively, more Americans hate the generic Republicans as corporate sell-outs until advertising kicks in to persuade them that their Republican candidate is one of the few good ones.

Probable for me, is that we do not have good likely voter samples until roughly September to October. Registered and general populations surveys tend to dominate early prognostications but are known to skew Democratic. Thus, voila, Republicans tend to do better when the general population starts to seriously considering their options roughly 90 days prior to the election.

that's what is really wrong, she'd have been far better off coming out

going with the "I'll die for the American people if it comes to that."

But either she was afraid that people would fear and hate her for it (30 years ago attitudes, or more)

or its not epilepsy but something far worse.

Whatever it is, its for damn sure not pneumonia.

Posted by: Christopher Taylor at September 20, 2016 02:57 PM (39g3+)

It's still a disorder of the brain and even well controlled, it's a
risk to give the keys to someone with both a traumatic brain injury and
epilepsy. Besides that I think Kaine scares a lot of LIVs, he is a very
unattractive man with a very "off" vibe.

I don't know anything about physical requirements in the military,
so can the Horde tell me if someone with both TBI and epilepsy can be in
command?
.
.
.
.Seizures from epilepsy can be managed with a variety of drugs. The problem is those drugs have serious side effects. They can range from memory loss to blackouts of varying periods and everything in between. Exactly the kinds of behavior we have seen hillary exhibit. Do we really want to hand the keys to the Nukes to someone like that?

The problem is managing the dosing and getting it right which can vary from day to day or even hour to hour. What worked yesterday may not be the correct dose next week. and you need pretty much constant blood work to make sure you are not shutting down the patients kidneys and liver function. It's a constant battle.

514 Anyone with a brain could have seen Florida being a safe GOP Senate seat since...August - because Rubio has lead almost every single poll since that time. It wasn't Trump in Florida, since he trailed in Florida during the same period.

Perhaps the simpler explanation is that Republicans are better at tying the Democrat candidate to Hillary, then the Dems are trying to tie the Republican candidate to Trump. But since that means Trump might not be good news for the GOP, we can't discuss that possibility.

How many GOP candidates have asked Trump to campaign with them? Other than Renee Ellmers?
