No: Obama's DHS Covering Up a Report Demonstrating That Our Border Security Is Woeful, For Fear of Helping Trump

If you ever wonder why I have become very aggressive and utterly unwilling to extend the slightest sort of political amity towards our opponents, it's because I am not longer willing to play that sort of sap.

If these fuckers have decided it's Thunderdome and laws exist simply to be broken as tactics may require, then only a schmuck continues playing by Marquis de Queensbury rules.

I used to argue against that position when commenters pushed it.

No more.

I'm done. They were right.

If it be Thunderdome, then let it be Thunderdome all around.

What percentage of illegal immigrants trying to make it across the Unites States’ southern border are stopped by the Border Patrol? According to Fox News, the Department of Homeland Security is sitting on a report which indicates the answer is just 51 percent. That figure is much lower than the official interdiction rate of 81 percent.

...

According to Fox reporter William Lajeunesse (video below), the final report was completed in May but, at that time, "the White House domestic policy council stepped in and stopped it." Furthermore, an unnamed source tells Lajeunesse the report is being held for, "political reasons" because it could "help elect Donald Trump."

Obama?

Obama?

Covering up his failures?

Lying to the American voter?

For cheap political gain?

I shan't believe it.

I simply shannot.

What Obama did early on was change the way they counted deportations. They started counting the number they turned around as deportations. The problem is that they don't turn that many around.

I posted a link several days ago in which a Border Patrol agent said that 80% of the illegals they stopped were turned lose INSIDE the US to keep going. Which means that only 20% of the ones they catch actually get turned around. And of that 20% almost all of them will come back for a second shot since the odds of making it are so high.

Stage 1: Trying to carefully conceal it.

Stage 2: In your face. "What are you peons gonna do about it?"

Stage 3: Humiliation. As described by Tony Daniels:

"In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control."

actually... I'd go a little different direction.

When you kill someone from a culture that celebrates martyrdom.... its not really effective.

You need to go after their cause... and make their action a negative to the Cause...

In this case... they are killing us, and themselves in the name of Islam... so punish Islam.

Level whatever Mosque they attended. Fine said Mosque. Fine the religious institutions. Go after the Theocracies that bred them with sanctions, and fines.

I have no problem at all with Collective Punishment against those who are not US Citizens...

Including taxes. Including some squishing of civil liberties. And I didn't give two shits to the notion of "How do you declare war on Islam" ? Seemed to me ... you declare war parts of the globe that support Islam combined with bombing our fucking buildings.

But "W" did it half-assed - and left us with this shit. That pissed me off. Still does.

Um, not exactly. Here is the scenario:
Someone hits me.
I hit back.
But then they hit back harder.
So this ends, until... when? Until the strongest guy survives.
And this is seriously being contemplated as a legitimate governance strategy. Which is no different than outright dictatorship.
At some point, in the context of governance, instead of hitting back, someone must call the police (i.e. enforce the rules) and let a court of law settle the matter.

At some point, in the context of governance, instead of hitting back, someone must call the police (i.e. enforce the rules) and let a court of law settle the matter.

486 My West Virginia coal miner grandfather was a civilian until he was dragged into the war by pearl harbor. His life was no less valuable as a combatant compare to a Japanese or German civilian that actively supported the war effort and provided the bombs, bullets and torpedoes that were used to try to kill him as he served on an invasion command ship from the invasion of North Africa to the surrender in Tokyo Bay.

If you do some research you can see very clearly that there was absolutely no will among the senior Japanese leadership for surrender until the atomic bombs in fact an allied invasion was seen as a way of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat which would've cost far more Japanese casualties and likely ended up with my grandfather being killed along with hundreds of thousands of Americans.

The bombs were a god send.

No they didn't. The Roman Republic did not have cops. If your neighbor came and burnt your crops and stole your land you could go court and get a judgement against him, but it was up to you to enforce that judgement. And you would be legally entitled to burn him out or kill him to retrieve your stuff. Ditto for other crimes. The only time the magistrates would detail troops to deal with a crime was if it was a crime against the state.

Go read the Declaration of Independence... and think of todays situation.

Almost every reason they had for rebelling, is now being put on us by our 'own' Government.

If you read history, you will note that only about 1/3 of the people in the Colonies actually wanted to rebel... 1/3 were Tories... and 1/3 just wanted to keep their heads down...

We are nearing those percentages.

Honestly? None of it. It didn't matter though. The colonists has the right to declare independence for any reason, or for no reason at all. But, they openly rebelled and called it such. They knew that if they lost, that they would be judged according to British law. They never said "oh, the British law doesn't apply to us as British citizens, because King George is such a meanie". More importantly, they didn't want to establish a government that was based on "might makes right" which is what people here are advocating.

526 >>> The colonists has the right to declare independence for any reason, or for no reason at all.

I lost your train of thought with this. The American colonies were a part of the British empire and were British subjects. They had the right to remove themselves from British government for no reason at all? What about the 'collective agreement' among the British subjects embodied in the British constitution (magna carta, bill of rights from the glorious revolution, etc) and system of government? Certainly the American revolutionaries did not believe they had the right for no reason at all, and to the contrary said much abuse must be withstood before that right arises.

Are you of the view that, say, Texas has the right to declare independence from the United States for no reason at all today?

Would that be preferable?

It CAN be. Depends on if the self-defense was proportionate or not. It is not automatically legal. The legality of any particular act of self-defense is adjudicated by... the government, in the form of courts of law. Unlike the police at, say, a DUI checkpoint - they have the legal power to force me to stop and take a breathalyzer test, and if I refuse, to use violence against me. They have to follow agreed-upon rules ahead of time in establishing their DUI checkpoints, but each specific stop is not individually adjudicated. Get it, Mr. Snark Man?

"I said "monopoly on the LEGAL use of violence", actually."

"The legality of any particular act of self-defense is adjudicated by... the government, in the form of courts of law."

--------------
Your argument is circular and does seem to reduce to a "might makes right" proposition.

When you say "The state has a monopoly on the a priori legal use of violence," if you are referring to power, then that is not necessarily true.

For example, the state of Syria does not in fact enjoy the power to exercise a monopoly over legal use of violence in places where ISIS or other militias enforce their own law. Yet Syria considers its state to extend to these places.

If you are referring to 'right', that government has the right to exercise a monopoly on legal force, doesn't that depend on whether the particular government is not contravening a higher moral law? See, e.g, the Nazi government.

If not, then when you claim that the government itself is the final adjudicator of the legality of its actions, you are asserting that "might" is what makes its "right" to assert a monopoly on legal violence.

***Yeah, there is no way to work out a combination "libertarian" and "warmist." None. I think "libertarian" just means pothead now.
I also think they should just run on that. I bet "pothead party" would get more votes anyway. They'd also not be responsible for remembering anything they'd said before.

591 When it comes to actually enforcing the law overall, I think Gary Johnson is probably the best bet. He's not perfect, but out of the four candidates, I think he is better.Posted by: chemjeff at September 15, 2016 08:45 PM (gXKl3)

I maintain that he is ludicrously awful, illiberal and illibertarian to near comical extremes, except when it comes to a good burn. He is probably doped out of his mind as I write this. And yet... and yet... if we're talking about the survival of the Republic for 4 more short years... meh, we could do worse.

599 "Can someone explain to me again why it's totes awesome the US military gets to defend South Korea's border but not our own?"

Well, one of them is 10x longer than the other. Plus, the South Koreans are responsible for part of it.

I'll grant that it's a different problem to prevent lightly armed individuals from crossing a border than heavily armed formed units. I don't think it is a 10x easier problem.

604 The left is full of commies and 5th columnists who call themselves "Democrats" or "progressives" because it sounds nice and disarms right leaning opponents.

Republicans and conservatives think that the left are "just like us, with a slightly different opinion" and that they are "decent" and "patriotic."

No. Emphatically no. They are Maoists and Stalinists and they do not play fair; they cheat, lie and obfuscate on every single matter, while demanding that their opponents maintain their high standards and decorum. And if you're a conservative or a Republican you have been losing for 100 years, largely because you ONLY engage politely, always according to principle, never ever to get dirty or sullied.

That time is over. The left is NOT friendly to America, they want it destroyed. They would put you and your family in camps in a heartbeat if they thought for a second they could get away with it.

They are shrieking their loudest now because they are finally being opposed and bludgeoned by a people long tired of losing. The opposition is mounted only by the alt-rt and no one else. Charles the Hammer is alt-rt.

If you enjoy losing, try to encourage Mitt to get back into the race, because he smiles and is polite.

If you want to win, then get dirty. Use the left's same ugly tactics against them. It's called Magruder's Law of warfare. The only thing you must know is that yes, this is war, and it is Western Civilization at stake.

So don't feel bad for punching that loudmouth bulldyke square in the teeth if she ever is stupid enough to follow Obama's advice and "get in your face!"

Winning feels good. And it is your birthright.

606 If the really smart students get across the border and reach Harvard, they'll receive an Ivy League education for free.

Seriously. Rachel Orol of Harvard admissions told a roomful of mostly poor people at the Exploring College Options event recently.

Harvard promises that families earning $60K or less will get a free ride for their child. And if an illegal alien gets in, too, well, that's one less spot you citizens.

That's Harvard's idea of patriotism.
