Ooof: Trump Up by Eight In Iowa
Uh-Oh: Trump Closing on Madame Fallsalot In Michigan

On the downside, he's only up by seven in Texas -- Texas! -- but a win in Texas by seven points gets you just as many EVs as a win in Texas by 14.

I'm going to focus on the Iowa thing.

Hillary's poll numbers need a shot of B12, as needed.

PS: I'm back from errands -- but I have stuff I have to do later, too.

I'm giving myself permission to Blog Like Crap today. That makes today a special day.

But then I choose to view every day as special.

Let's face it, my presence here is as crucial to this blog's operation as Brian Williams' presence is crucial to All The Things That Happened in History.

To be honest with you, the realization "Oh, I really don't matter, if I'm not here, people will just comment as usual, and the cobs will put up stuff too," is both liberating and also deflating.

However, though I am both lazy and vain, I am more lazy than vain, so "I really don't matter at all" winds up landing on the positive side of things for me.

Michigan: Hillary's collapsing. Well you knew that already.

But her poll numbers are also down.

A month after it appeared the race for president in Michigan might be all but over, Donald Trump has cut deeply into Hillary Clinton’s post-convention lead, with an exclusive new Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll showing the Republican nominee has moved closer to tying the Democratic front-runner in a state that hasn't backed a Republican nominee since 1988.

Clinton, whose lead in some national and battleground state polls also has disappeared lately after building big margins in the wake of a successful convention this summer in Philadelphia, still leads Trump 38%-35% in Michigan, according to the poll done by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA for the Free Press, WXYZ-TV and their outstate partners. But that is within the poll's 4-percentage-point margin of error, and a significant drop from her 11-point lead last month.

Why, yes, yes, I'm going to keep saying that even on November 9th because I amuse me. I mean, I have to amuse someone.

I'm still gobsmacked about the Luzerne County thingy.

Oh oh oh I saw someone putting up a big Trump 2016 The Only Choice sign the other day. This is on a corner lot right in front of the very popular roadside stand for getting pumpkins and the link.

Complete and total anecdata but there it is.

I've seen very few signs at all for any election, including governor.

Poll: Donald Trump gaining on Hillary Clinton in Michigan

Clinton still leads Trump 38%-35% in Michigan, according to the poll done by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA for the Free Press. But that is within the polls 4-percentage-point margin of error, and a significant drop from her 11-point lead last month.

Ah, at worst, even expired vitamins can't hurt you. They'll just be ineffectual. (Except for Vitamin E, which is oily, and thus can go "bad.")

B12 is like C -- basically impossible to overdose on since you just pee it out.

The key, if you want to keep elevated levels, is to take moderate doses over and over, like 2 or 3 times a day. Taking one big dose all at once, like countrydoc says, just goes straight out the urethra.

Deep down they think that pretty much any democrat, including whatsisname would be an improvement over Hillary.

Yep, but since TX finally went red over 20 years ago, we haven't elected a single Dem to statewide office, or gone Dem in a presidential election.

TX is still blood red, but I have some guesses as to why Trump isn't polling as well as might be expected. Billionaire Manhattanites are considered off-putting here, and free trade is a huge part of our economy. While a lot of us are glad he's for better border security, we're skeptical about his Wall plans because he hasn't been to the TX border. Like others who've promised a Wall, I doubt he knows what he's talking about.

He'll still win here, but may underperform compared to recent Repub candidates.

But again I'm just guessing, and this election has been so nutty that I think literally anything could happen. Trump may blow it out here the way Hillary is declining.

That's only 73% of the electorate... less than 3/4ths of the people...The rest on vacation? Undecided?
Posted by: Don Q.

The topline numbers showed Clinton leading Trump 38%-35%, with Libertarian Gary Johnson (10%) and Green Party candidate Jill Stein (4%) trailing. Thirteen percent remained undecided. In a two-way matchup, Clinton had a slightly larger edge, beating Trump 42%-38%.

Perhaps more troubling for Clinton was a drop-off in support needed from key groups. Where she led among every age group a month ago, she now trails with voters age 50-64 by 41%-33%. And what had been a whopping 24-point lead among voters 18-34 has dropped to 7 points.

Does Trump need another few shots? I thought the whole "seizing" in public would be the final straw and it might still be but my gut tells me Trump still needs a few more major shots before this thing is considered a lock.

Like Hillary majorly fucking up in the debates. Or her passing out in the debate. Or the FBI finally turning over the damning evidence or the IT guys finally fessing up.

I just feel like Clinton is on the ropes but she's still got the scorecard and Trump needs a knockout.

It's great that they started stepping up, this was something they started almost immediately after the 2012 race and some of these people have been in place for a couple years now, but the should have been this years ago.

Polls are getting close in Virginia too! That's funny because Hillary cancelled her ads in VA since she was winning by such a wide margin. "

This is so great because it forces her out on the campaign trail. If she's in trouble in places that she formerly thought were safe, they are not going to be able to get by on trotting her fat ass out for a little speech once a week and relying on Mooch and Barky and her ghostly husband out to do the heavy lifting.

And the more people see of Hillary the more they hate her. And the more worn down she gets....

353 I'm currently in Texas. Deep conservative territory. We have Trump signs out; have for months.

No other signs for any candidate on our street, but neighbors routinely walk by and say, "Go Trump." Rather quietly too.

The Dallas Morning News editorial board came out for Hillary! with (they said) their first endorsement for a Democrat for president since 1936. Hillary. Clinton. Best Democrat option for President in generations according to them.

Those are anecdotes that say Trump is going to clean Hillary's clock assuming it's still running on election day. Many hidden Trump voters and desperation on the part of the MFM to boost Madame Fallsalot.

The funny this, I have a good friend who is a dyed in the wool liberal that lives in Los Angeles, and that is the ONE issue that he actually does support the Right on.

He grew up in LA and saw what an open border had done to the community and it's clear its an issue that really pisses him off.

I doubt he votes Trump and I don't think the state will ever turn red again, but this issue does resonate into a lot of demographics, including lifelong Democrats.

Legally, I can only see Kaine as an option unless all 50 states change their ballot laws.

They could have largely swapped out whoever they wanted though before the Convention.

Every week that passes though closes that window.

If they try ANY swap a few weeks before Election Day, I see nobody going to the polls to vote Dem as there's just too much confusion and most people will know its then a lost cause.

Have a friend who lives in a Denver planned community built on the old Stapleton airport and - it's been *the* place for young families to get their first home, boasts features like running trails, numerous parks and swimming pools, nearby amenities, etc.

Just heard a few weeks ago that it is now rampant with crime from "new Americans" (he specifically mentioned Somalis based on police reports). No one can have furniture on their front porch (stolen). Several stories about people who had garage door open who ran in to get a drink (while working on something) or purse (while getting ready to drive kids to school) only to discover in the 60 seconds they were gone someone has stolen their power tools or gotten in the car and are driving away. One woman reported that while pulling out of her garage she noticed a woman crouching in the bushes - apparently they will now roll under a person's garage door as it closes (morning commuters not looking back) and then rob them.

This is Obama's America. A place you cannot even leave a freakin' rocking chair on your from porch without some a**hole stealing it..

it doesn't say that much. I mean, there are really some people on twitter who are really ALWAYS on twitter.

And I mean always.

i mean at least a blogger occasionally writes thoughts in paragraphs.

trust me, I'm not making nice nice on twitter. I am becoming the most hated commentator on the right (and I'm pretty cool with that, as I've learned, now that I've had to evaluate things, that my respect for most right-side commentators is as near to zero as is possible).

*****

Excellent, I've managed to piss off almost every commenter from NR. I created a facebook acct just to tell NR writers that they suck balls (but in a less crude way, because they all get offended so easily) and now I'm abandoning the NR alternate disqus site I helped them collect commenters for because they won't moderate out progs who pretend to be NT.

All these assholes who pretended for eons to be "on the right" and are now just spewing anything for Hillary were either lying all along or they were never on the right.

They keep pissing on me and then tell me it's raining. I get they don't like Trump, I don't either but Hillary? Yeesh. Then their hangers-on just want to whine over Cruz like that matters now.

517 Can somebody provide a reasonable account of what Hillary might be taking/being prescribed? Why on Earth would she be getting coke? Amphetamine (and not the meth; why give her the meth form?)

methamphetamine isn't (automatically) synonymous with crystal meth. Crystal is the smoke-able form, aka hillbilly cocaine.
They would give her meth-amphetamine b/c it has a more intense mood heightening component to it. It used be prescribed to house wives as a weight control drug. They fused it with barbiturate to take the edge off.
I think she's on a cocktail of meds, antiseizure, methamphetamine, diazepam, cont'd...

519 There's a much different dynamic going on now than with Mitt at the same point in 2012.

Part of this is how candidate personalities drive turnout.

In 2012, Obama also sold the fibs that (1) foreign policy was great because bin Laden was dead, Al Queda on the run and the Iraq War was over, and (2) economy was on the upswing, so morning in America. He needed a lot of help to sell those fibs.

521 Scott Adams today:

You probably thought Trump was the bigot in this contest, until Clinton
called half of Trump's supporters a basket of deplorables. That's the
point at which observers started to see a pattern. Trump has been
consistently supportive of American citizens of all types -- with the
exception of the press and his political opponents. The main targets of
Trump's rhetoric are the nations that compete against us. In stark
contrast, Clinton turned her hate on American citizens. That's the real
kind of hate. Trump is more about keeping America safe and competing
effectively in the world. That is literally the job of president.

And really, isn't this the story of Obama?

Most obvious example I can give is the tv show, How I Met Your Mother. The Cobie Smulders character was obviously intended to be a gay man.

Needless to say, Neil Patrick Harris' character was gay as well. The constantly banging women thing was... convenient.

like two ants slapping mandibles when a Panzer division rolls over. We
give these tirades and tribulations more weight than they deserve,
because really, few are paying attention, no one cares, and not a single
mind has been changed. This particular blogger wrote that he had been fighting for Trump,
which is the sort of thing he would have ripped apart a year ago,

Plus Austin's navy blue. It's not like Texas has never ever elected Democrats.

Posted by: alexthechick - screw you polls! at September 15, 2016 04:01 PM (mf5HN)------Ann Richards was down by nearly *20 points* in the polls until her opponent, Clayton Williams, made a joke about how rape is like the weather and if you can't control it, "you might as well sit back and enjoy it," or some shit. Williams was an old oil tycoon with no previous political experience, but he was leading comfortably until that comment cratered his campaign in the home stretch. Richards would never have been elected otherwise. She was not well-loved as governor and only served one term before she was defeated by George W. Bush. She should not be considered indicative of the state's voting trends. You're right about Austin being deep blue, though it does have strong Libertarian presence. However, I don't see anything indicating this poll was concentrated in the Austin area. I wonder if those Texas numbers reflect people like me who are voting
for Johnson because there's no downside. It's a gimme that Trump will
take the state, so we can do the protest vote thing without fear that
it's "just a vote for Hillary."

I was born in 1960 and I had NO IDEA that Paul Lynde was gay until a few years ago.

When I was a kid and he was popular, I had no conception of such things. By the time I understood that there was such a thing as gay, Lynde was pretty much out of public life except for Hollywood Squares, which I rarely watched.

I occasionally see him on TCM and he makes Liberace look like John Wayne.

543 Enough with the Never Trumps... try for their votes instead focusing all energy on Clinton. Who cares what NeverTrump does?

Hillary is the worst candidate we've ever seen... Trump needs to slap her down by 10 points nationwide and its inevitable she will stumble again. He stays focused and he's got this election wrapped up.

Mid July to Mid August Trump was terrible, people rightly voiced concerns about what in the sam hell he was doing.. Once ridding himself of Manafort, things turned around, credit Trump for suddenly getting serious - because he needed it, and with Hillary failure to even run out the clock right, he's got a shot a great shot at the white house.
