I'm kind of bummed to hear about ITT. I mean, I think the DOE is definitely overreaching and the cynic in me thinks they hate student loan dollars going to private entities.
But also I remember as a kid and hanging out at home during summer vacation - they would play their commercials on daytime TV. It introduced me to the concept of targeted marketing. The commercials during sporting events were all razors and beer, the commercials during the soaps were "feminine products" and laundry stuff. The commercials on at 2:00 pm? "Get off your ass and GET A JOB." Posted by: VA GOP Sucks at September 07, 2016 07:53 AM (eytER) Posted by: Grampa Jimbo at September 07, 2016 07:54 AM (4+VII) 7

I'm glad the Wetterlings finally know what happened to their little boy, but it must have been gut-wrenching to hear those details about how he was asking his killer what he had done wrong, and crying when he asked to go home and being told no.
At least it was overly relatively quickly for him, and he was not held captive by that degenerate and raped for years, like some other poor kids have been. But how pathetic is it when the best thing you can find to say about some defendant is that at least he raped and murdered his kiddie victim quickly. Enjoy prison, pervert. Good morning horde. On this day in 1978. Keith Moon drummer - with The Who - died of an overdose of heminevrin prescribed to combat alcoholism. Moon had attended a party the night before organized by Paul McCartney for the launch of the The Buddy Holly Story movie. He played on all The Who albums from their debut- 1965's My Generation to 1978's Who Are You, which was released two weeks before his death.
Also on this date 46 years ago, the New Yardbirds played their first show. I believe the only hold-over from the original Yardbirds was Jimmy Page. They added Robert Plant to their newly formed group and soon changed their name to Led Zeppelin. In the words of Garth Brooks, I'm much too young to feel this damn old. Just exactly what we didn't need. Yeah, the problem was they didn't offer menstrual equality programs. And hey, I respect ITT. Leprosy. Seriously? From some obscure reason (Title IX) the Federal Government and the left does not like private schools and is trying anything to shut off their money. ___________________________ The federal government is not opposed to all for-profit schools. Just those that don't have the right . . . connections. For example, the federal government has given millions of dollars in taxpayer grants to Laureate Education, the Soros-backed for-profit school that paid Bill Clinton $18 million over 4 years to act as its "honorary" chancellor. ITT would be in business today if it had made a sufficient contribution to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation, or made "Dreams of My Father" a required purchase for its students, or put Michelle Obama on its board (at a 7-figure salary, of course). like that if he is an illegal alien? He would have to be paying taxes, getting permits, inspections from the county, etc. What am I missing? ___________________ You're missing the fact that laws don't matter when they're not enforced. The Obama administration does not care if somebody is in the country illegally (especially if they're muslim). They will have the IRS issue them a taxpayer ID number regardless of their "immigration status." And with that, they can pretty much do anything someone could do with a valid SS#, or these days, even with a phony SS#, since the Obama administration doesn't prosecute the use of those either. As for getting business permits and such, no one is allowed to ask about the applicant's "immigration status" anymore. Daring to ask a question like that will get the full force of federal law brought down on you in a big way. You see, there are some laws that the Dims are willing to enforce. It doesn't apply to federal office holders, or the biggest pay-to-play collector in world history, the former SecState.
So it bars partners donating to Trump-Pence (a governor) but not to Clinton-Kaine (a Senator). Transparent scumbaggery. Posted by: MTF at September 07, 2016 08:24 AM (6GiCM) Posted by: Every Democrat in the World at September 07, 2016 08:24 AM (O7MnT) 80

Govering! Congress is working to save a visa program that is set to expire in October. Riddled with controversy and fraud, the rapidly expanding -EB-5 investor visa program attracts money from foreign investors by giving them a path to American citizenship. Created in 1990, the EB-5 program gives visas to foreigners who invest at least $500,000 in U.S. projects run by government-approved businesses called regional centers. These businesses can range from big-city high-rises and medical centers to rural agriculture and energy farms. When a project is completed, a foreign investor can earn permanent legal status. The EB-5 program has exploded in popularity, with the number of visas granted jumping from 3,000 in fiscal year 2011 to more than 9,000 in fiscal 2014, according to data from the State Department. http://tinyurl.com/h6fxcur Posted by: Laurie David's Cervix at September 07, 2016 08:33 AM (kdS6q) 94

No good can come from the Fourth Estate refusing their duty to become slavish political hacks and lackeys.
Which is why I continue to say that a President Trump would do the country a singular favor if he levied the harshest punishments on the MFM. Open up the libel laws, RICO them, drag them into court for in-kind contributions to the Democrat party, pull their passes, forbid on pain of instant dismissal anyone from the administration appearing on an MFM show or speaking to a reporter. As D-Lamp was fond of pointing out, until the press feels actual, real-world consequences for their actions, they will continue to betray and undermine the country. Just as my vote for Trump is not so much for a constitutional conservative as it is an I want revenge vote, so the attitude of a Trump administration to the media should be Make Them Pay! Back in the day, Al Capone bought a lot of good will in Chicago by providing food to families that were suffering from the Great Depression. That good will was an important part of why Capone could never be successfully prosecuted in Chicago.
It seems to me that the drug smuggling gangs that operate in Miami could earn a lot of good will by smuggling DDT into the country along with a load of cocaine and then spraying the DDT around Miami to kill off the mosquitoes that spread the Zika virus. Morning Horde. Repeating yesterday's request for prayers for my best friend, who has now returned to the hospital. We're worried sick his kidneys are on the down now, which would be really, really Not Good.
This is the fella that's been helping me keep sane and with Dad logistics. I'm not sure this is a loss I can bear if it goes worst case. Posted by: Brother Cavil, down with Eph 6:12-13 at September 07, 2016 09:43 AM (9krrF) 223

>>"I would've at least turned away from the crowd."
Reminds me of those movies that depict kings of yesteryear doing everything, even taking a crap, in front of a room full of their advisors. Posted by: Lizzy at September 07, 2016 09:45 AM (NOIQH) Posted by: Ricardo Kill at September 07, 2016 09:45 AM (9ym/8) 227

I was very busy in Brazil last month. That whole impeachment thing was exhausting.
Then I had to head over to Germany. Angela Merkel was schlonged right back to third place. Third place?!?! Damn, I do good work. Now I hear that I'm needed here back in the USA, so here I am. Tanned, rested and ready to go. Posted by: Schlong at September 07, 2016 09:47 AM (4AVeu) 230
If I were going to spit something out into a glass, I would've at least turned away from the crowd.
------------- Sad thing is, if she spit a cough drop into that crowd, they'd be rushing to grab it like the single ladies on a wedding bouquet. Posted by: josephistan at September 07, 2016 09:48 AM (7HtZB) 231
I went to a hockey match at a leper colony once, but they had to stop mid game.

WaPo claims to have identified the mysterious handler as the Secret Service agent in charge of her detail, Todd Madison.
No confirmation from the campaign or the SS though, so who knows where WaPo got that info... Posted by: MTF at September 07, 2016 09:49 AM (LISuA) 233

>>Also, he didn't contribute shit to her, just let them have a 50 person fundraiser on his yard.
Not really. His charitable foundation made a $25,000 donation to her campaign which in an of itself is a violation for which he has already paid a fine. Frankly, I don't find it hard to believe at all that he made the donation to her in a wink-wink exchange for her not prosecuting the Trump U crap. And I don't care at all. When the Dems decide to not just run but wholeheartedly support someone as crooked as Hillary Clinton I could care less about Trump's relatively small change stuff. Just got my orders. Finally.
Hillary is next. Hope that cough isn't contagious. You never know what Bill might have given her 40 years ago. Posted by: Schlong at September 07, 2016 09:53 AM (4AVeu) 238
I'm just guessing, but I'll bet you that the 'accreditation' ITT Tech lost was because they didn't have enough social justice classes and wymon's issues courses. And I'll bet their technical courses were good enought that graduates could get jobs in their field. Just Guessing. Posted by: The guessing man at September 07, 2016 09:53 AM (h9ykt) 239
*Mar-a-Lago is NOT his home. It's an historic-ish mansion that is basically a tourist destination.
Posted by: Brave Sir Robin at September 07, 2016 09:40 AM (SeD0w) ============================== It's a club, but he does have a residence on the grounds. I'd even bet he's a Florida resident (but I have no facts). But who in their right mind would want to be a NYC or NJ resident for tax purposes? Other than me, I mean. He also has a house at the Trump National Club in Bedminster/Tewksberry NJ. So does Ivanka. The houses are right next to the pool area. He was there on Labor Day, for example, continuing his intensive campaigning at the Korean buffet. Posted by: MTF at September 07, 2016 09:55 AM (LISuA) 240
It's kind of ironic that the Obama Administration is accusing ITT of overselling its job placement success.
After all, the Obama Administration was responsible for destroying all of those jobs over the past 7.5 years. Posted by: Adirondack Patriot at September 07, 2016 09:57 AM (4AVeu) 241

Look at Ross Douthat tying himself in knots:
Such demystification, a return to the old familiar Clintonian seediness, might be a better cure for some of the impulses behind Trumpism than the kind of landslide-cum-apotheosis that a more appealing Democratic nominee might have achieved. Those impulses? A new, populist flavor of the "caesarism" embodied by Bush and Obama. What a pathetic little simpering hack. http://archive.is/LJRd0 archive link so you can read it without giving the grey lady traffic. It would be more interesting if the bald black guy was a Dr-but it's not comforting withe if he's a Secret Service guy and that Hillary is so upset by a heckler so that someone needs to say "You're o,k, Start again". Her sense is so clouded that she couldn't figure that out on er own?

The ITT business model of relying on students getting government backed loans is what did them in. What business can survive if their customer base is dependent on government loans?
