Jackass Former Starting Quarterback Won't Stand for National Anthem Until Country Changes to His Liking

He'll be spending his time during the Anthem like he'll be spending his time while the offense is on the field -- sitting down.

I'm annoyed by this asshole, but I don't know if that annoyance is justified. I've come to have a lot less respect for America during the Obama Captivity myself -- and I think I'd be within my rights to stage a symbolic protest against Fallen America if I wanted.

On the other hand -- fuck this guy.

Oh, and fuck the NFL. Just fuck them generally.

The dynamic now has flipped and I definitely am on board with a much more populist flavor of conservatism.

Probably in the earlier days, when lots of players were two-way, and the position itself was not what it is today.

I can't think of anyone this far into an NFL career making a go of it. Cordell Stewart I think, played some wideout, but wasn't necessarily successful at it. Tim Couch (? I think?) won a Heisman as a QB and was drafted to play wideout, but never actually caught on.

He's got the body for it. But the brain... that will be his undoing. Obviously.

I have always thought the playing of the National Anthem was over done by playing it at every sporting event.

But then I'm not sure when you would/should play it. National Championships maybe, Olympics certainly.

And I would stand for it where ever it was played out of politeness, like bowing your head when someone wants a public prayer - just to be polite to those who believe in it.

Not Couch. Couch was drafted as a QB - by my Browns, of course - and played QB. As well as you can play QB for an expansion team with no offensive line.

A lot of 'option'/scrambling college QB's make the decision to become skill position guys if they think it's prudent for their career. Braxton Miller made the switch-over in college, because he was competing with two other QB's for the starting job for the Buckeyes. Terrelle Pryor is another Buckeyes scrambling QB who decided his future in the NFL was as a WR. For a more successful example, Antwaan Randle El had a great NFL career as a wide-out but was a college QB.

He said no problem and matched the fine with a donation to a mental health charity.

397 OT/ I preface this with saying Tebow is an incredible Christian and human soul. He also acted in a hypocritical manner by not playing QB in Arena League or the CFL to get experienece.

That said I did some research into his baseball is so easy I'll be playing for the Yankees by August 2017. This attitude among fortball players rubs me the wrong way (Bo Jackson loved baseball first and was incredible playing the game) I saw a picture of him throwing out the first pitch of a game and it looked ugly. I also found a video of him leaked on Reddit of him check swinging on a slider that almost hit him.That was ugly as well. His workouts have been from pitching machines throwing up to 95mph.

The article about the former major leaguer praising him who has been throwing live to him recently said " I was impressed that his bat was on a level plane when I threw a slider. He went down for it" also a credit to his baseball skills was his willingness to pickup his own baseballs during a private BP sessions. This is something little leavers do including swinging on a level plane trying to hit the ball where it is pitched. UGH!

I don't bother to follow women's soccer because, why would I, but the impression I got was that Solo's comment was less about the character of the players, and more about the style of play.

Now, it was dumb to say it the way she did, but I also can understand what it means, from the competitor's standpoint.

It would be like calling your opponent in football cowards for employing a prevent defense late in the 4th quarter to preserve a lead, or calling a baseball team cowards for intentionally walking the other team's best hitter.

Either the strategy is sound, or it's not. And in sports, that's all that matters.

1. She was way closer than 60 feet 6 inches

2. She's a softball pitcher, so she was able to deliver the ball in a way that baseball players just aren't used to seeing

So again, it was a publicity stunt. But I do think the right girl, who dedicated her entire life to it, could make it as a knuckleballer.

Was the Babe told to strike out on purpose? But I believe he was just caught off guard. Ruth struck out looking on a pitch that he didn't think was a strike, and he made a stink about it. Gehrig swung at 3 straight and I believe he was doing it as a gas - why not let the girl have her day? But no one will really ever know.

Yeah, I've heard the story before. I think it was more stunt than anything else. Ruth, as they try to claim, was not a good breaking ball hitter, but that's just silly. Nobody hits a good breaking ball. To think Ruth couldn't hit this girl... it's just as likely he was drunk/hung over or took her too lightly, or was hoping to get some tail if he let her look good.

The thing with being a knuckleball pitcher is that you need a decent fastball and one or two other pitches for certain counts and situations.

Also a great knuckball pitcher literally needs their own personal catcher so maybe her dad is behind the dish.

Also, girls like baseball because they love guys that play baseball and the uniforms. They are cleat chasers/fantasizer first, and fans second. So I fail to see how this TV show can catch the girl audience. Maybe the fathers with daughters audience I can see, but we all know it will be the SJW full press.

IMO, he was sizing her up with his first few swings - he'd never seen her pitch before, so he didn't really know what to expect. I think he wanted to really get a hold of one - he didn't want a single, he wanted to hit one out of the park. But before he could, he took a borderline pitch and got called out on strikes. The ump was probably told to give anything borderline to Jackie, knowing it would be a bigger story if the wondergirl was able to strike out The Babe. Lou...who knows? He probably just half-assed it to give Babe some cover, or maybe he legitimately had trouble timing her pitches.

I agree. With Wakefield and all good knuckleballers, when the knuckle is working he is unhittable. When the touch is not there and the knuckle ball has rotation and zero movement, he lasts a few innings and gives up a ton of runs.
But I'd say Wakefields knuckle was one of the all time bests because it had to be. That was his big league talent. Dickey throws a fast knuckle ball. He was an incredible pitcher and was going to be drafted early first round but scouts noticed arm problems from the picture that made the cover of a magazine.

I loved the documentary a few years ago about the Knuckleball BTW. Damn good.

Honestly, it would probably be the most likely way for it to happen. 3rd string catcher/bullpen catcher desperately wants a son because baseball is a family game - fathers pass the game on to their sons. He has a daughter, and says screw it - I'm going to mold her into a knuckleball pitcher.
