Movie reviews have stopped being about films and started being about politics. They may make noises about the same sort of topics, but ultimately, they're focusing on what SJW box gets checked off and how this moves culture to the left. Its ridiculous.

When you add Ghostbrassieres and this thing to the BLM Thug-Mom shows that seem to be turning up in so much of the mass-market entertainment, what we're seeing is that the industry really just thinks it owns public opinion and can just abandon everyone who might find it all somewhere between stupid and offensive.

They peddled the same story about JFK'S and Jackie's first date. Does the movie show how Michelle Robinson was hired by Sidley & Austin (the firm where they worked together, and the only job practicing law that "brilliant, successful, Harvard lawyer" Michelle ever had), as an affirmative action hire, and how she had a special "mentor" to help her at the firm? Does it show how Michelle never quite got the hang of her duties, and how she flunked the Illinois bar exam? Does it show when the partners at the law firm told Michelle that she "wasn't the right fit" for the firm (lawyer-speak for "you suck"), and they suggested she pursue her legal career elsewhere?
Does it show her packing up her things and leaving the firm, and then using Barry's and her (ward boss) daddy's political connections to get herself (after a period of unemployment) hired in a non-lawyer, political patronage job that paid her six figures, not because she had any special skills, but because of who she knew? Does the movie show Michelle elbowing other people out of buffet lines at political fundraisers, yelling "I'm the Senator's wife!" (as she reportedly had a habit of doing in Chicago)? Does the movie show Michelle Obama filing divorce papers after Barry lost his primary race for a seat in congress, as she reportedly did? Just wondering how truthful this "love" story really is. No listing as far as production budget goes. However, considering how much money has been spent on various lefty love letters over the past decades, it will probably not be a Lady Ghostbusters level disaster.
Sad to say, but it will probably make money, while a lot of the other movies with much higher budgets should have lost a lot of execs their jobs. So, a bit of 6 degrees of separation -
My mother dated Pete Ostrum (Charlie Bucket in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) for a bit in Jr. High. So I could have been lil Charlie Bucket. But then I wouldn't be me, so I guess it's a good thing they broke up. Pete went on to quit show business and become a veterinarian. From what I hear, he never let his fleeting fame go to his head and stayed a nice, humble man. I imagine they'll contact him for interviews in the wake of Gene's death. True, but its the middle of the ocean. Like the pacific. What are the odds of that?
Posted by: Jollyroger at August 29, 2016 03:18 PM (t06LC) It was Blackett Strait, in the Solomons, not the middle of the ocean. Boating at night can be really weird and being able to see something on the water is difficult. Case: One year we were returning from fireworks patrol on the main trunk of the Detroit River. To our starboard is the RenCen, to Port Windsor Casino, the shoreline all lit up. I noticed that the lights in the middle of the span of the Ambassador Bridge went out and I thought "What could have caused that?" Then I suddenly realized, looked and saw the freighter coming right at us, 700 feet of very big, very black hull. Posted by: *Mikey NTH - Get Your Campaign F.U.D. Fix at the Outrage Outlet! Disconcerting to see actors even in fictional history not even close to their counterparts -- either in physicality or action. Michelle is as tall as Barry so having her so much shorter is odd. Her brother is a basketball coach, so I don't know why they would have a shorter person, unless it is to reinforce perceived power. Even odder is Barry being really black.
My own take was that theirs was another power-arranged marriage (Robinsons and Taylor/Jarrett). Relatively successful, but the handlers in the back room are much more important than is currently acknowledged. Posted by: mustbequantum at August 29, 2016 03:44 PM (MIKMs) 418

The examples they use of female lead action films doing well are all examples of original movies and not remakes. The Divergent series crashed and burned by the third film. The Hunger Games has a female action lead but the character doesn't really do much fighting. And when she does get into any hand-to-hand confrontations she gets her butt handed to her. In other words it is more realistic.
