6 Chicago Tribune: (I hate reading this website, but still do) Trump has lost the: Catholics have long been a swing vote in presidential elections, and right now they're swinging hard for Clinton. The reasons for Trump's struggles among this group are open to
interpretation. Perhaps Pope Francis' criticism of Trump and Trump's
surprisingly confrontational response have turned off Catholics to
Trump's candidacy. So another group is voting for Hillary??

The Department of Veterans Affairs will no longer allow Confederate flag imagery to be flown on flagpoles at national cemeteries on Memorial Day or Confederate Memorial Day.

The Veterans Affairs decision comes a few months after an amendment barring the display of flag imagery in VA cemeteries was added to the Houses fiscal 2017 Military Construction-VA spending bill (HR 4974), but later removed from the conference report (HR 2577) behind closed doors.

Kaepernick is a whiny, ungrateful nickelfucker. However, if this leads to the NFL banning the National Anthem from being played before games, I'm fine with it; I think the tradition cheapens the anthem, reducing it to a time-wasting "what the fuck am I doing here?" moment.

Of course, conservatives should be cutting all ties with major league sports and the channels that carry them, but that's just me.

Meanwhile, the GOP stabbing you in the back again to feed The Beast:

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) will release a new proposal in coming days that attempts to resolve the long-running dispute among retailers, state governments and online retailers over how to tax purchases made across state lines.

The current system relies on whether a seller has a physical presence in a state.
Instead, sales would be taxed according to the tax base of the retailer and a single tax rate chosen by the consumers state. Currently, that seller only collects taxes on the sale if it has a presence in his state.

But while her friends looked at class schedules and wondered how they would manage their own laundry and dorm roommates, Amit Vogel wasnt heading off to college, at least not yet.

Her gap year or, more accurately, gap years will entail a new, additional citizenship and the good chance that she would be carrying an assault rifle, once she joins the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces.

Vogel left from Kennedy International Airport for Israel on Aug. 16 alongside 233 men, women and children making a journey known as aliyah, in which they become dual citizens of both Israel and their home country.

Among that group, she was one of 75 young women and men wearing green T-shirts, denoting them as volunteers in whats known as the Lone Soldier program, in which people without immediate family in Israel serve in the IDF, the acronym for Israels military forces, when they immigrate.

85 One Ithaca College student was fatally stabbed and a second was injured during a fight on Cornell University's campus, officials said Sunday.

Police say several hundred college-age people had attended a student-organized event in Willard Straight Hall Saturday night and that several fights took place outside after the event ended. Police discovered both men lying wounded on the ground after they responded to the scene shortly before 2 a.m.

Local news website 14850.com reported that Saturday night's party was an orientation week gathering hosted by Cornell's chapter of Omega Psi Phi, a predominently African-American fraternity.

=======================

Willard Straight Hall is the student union building, and the center of campus. It's less than one hundred yards from the Presidents office, and not far at all from the Cornell Police HQ. Given this location and the fact that Cornell has a pretty sizeable force of nasty coppers, I find it hard to believe that a large gathering of students at the Straight at 2 am wouldn't already have cops intermixed. I'd bet there is more to this story.

"154 So, Friday, the bossman came to me, was normal/friendly. My coworker had a review that day, and I was informed it wasn't going to be a particularly good one. I was asked to look over the notes to see if I had any insight, so I did and I did.

This particular coworker is known to not care much for me; and quite frankly, the feeling is mutual, although I have never verbally criticized this coworker either to their face or to other people. I keep things to myself, and am professional.

So after the review, boss brings paperwork to me, noticeably colder than before. Says that we didn't have time, but she wanted to meet with me this week over "things that came up" during the review.

I have no doubt, when cornered, I'm sure said coworker turned things around on me, or at least made up/exaggerated my faults to try to take the heat off themself."

It still feels really weird to me that I'm at the age now where the next step in life is getting married. Joe, that's quite an honor to be asked to be the best man. That's wonderful. My husband has been best man for a few weddings. and he always put a lot of work into his toast, which was always appreciated.

Best tip for the bachelor party - make sure it is at least a few weeks before the wedding.

The Catholic beat down on Trump was part of our sermon yesterday.

Father didn't name names, but talked about a man who claims he had
to struggle to get where he is today when he was born to wealth. He was
teaching humility at the time.

I find myself shaking my head more and more during these sermons.
I'm a life long Catholic. Cannot see how the Church squares the circle
on these kind of pronouncements when they sit on vast amounts of wealth
in the Vatican.

Irony, know thyself.

Trump may have been born to wealth but he has also not squandered it
like so many of the second generation wealthy throughout the centuries.
He works and continues to grow his businesses, yes with some failures
along the way. That happens.

185 Borders are racist...

At least according to the Globalists. This is primary reason number one to get "free trade" under control. I understand the capitalistic logic for free trade, cheaper products for the buyer, and all that. The trouble is we are losing national sovereignty in the the process. That means the loss of freedom at home, surrendered to someone else.

We have evidence of this too. The EU which started as a free trade zone that was purely about free trade and degenerated into a bureaucratic joke that is hell bent on destroying the nation state.

So pro-Free Trade folks who are also pro-America are going to need to rethink how pro-Free Trade they want to be if they want to keep America free, with a constitution and laws voted by the citizen body of this country. It is clear we cannot have both for now until we can put the globalist lunatics back into their place.

Even better:

"The damaged Colt-Pielstick diesel engine needs to be replaced or rebuilt after the inspectors found that the engine's lube oil system had been contaminated with seawater over a period of several weeks."

Was reading an article on fuel contamination in ships recently*, and apparently checking the fuel and lubrication systems in diesels is a critical daily activity because, while water and crude in a gasoline engine makes it stop, in a diesel it makes engine go boom.

Missing that contamination for "several weeks" means either the monitoring system was snafu, or the crew wasn't doing xer job.

My money is on the monitoring systems being faulty. LOTS of automation in the LCSs, in order to keep the crew small, that's supposed to be one of the biggest "innovations". But there's a price to be paid in overworked crewmembers trying to keep the automated systems in good repair, not to mention the core ship systems that the automated systems control.

I shudder to think of what happens when you need to muster damage control parties from a crew of about 40 sailors working on a damaged frigate-sized vessel.

Step 1: Argue that a living wage would actually save money, because it'd be cheaper than all the current entitlements.
Step 2: During the legislative process, stealthily avoid actually cutting any other entitlements.
Step 3: Be heralded as a champion of the poor!

Thanks. We actually do require that men wear pants although it's not written into church polity. :^)

We don't have many rowdy children and when we do they get sent to Sunday right after the children's message. Actually, I'm a peripatetic pastor; Sometimes I'm an one church-sometimes another. I will be at a different church this week than i was at last week, so you'd have to try hard to find. me

I have-to me-an interesting story about pants. I had been reading aboutthe Eastern Orthodox Church and wanted to attend, but one near me would have all these women standing outside in babushkas and long skirts. I don't have any long skirts and I hate wearing skirts-as opposed to pants- in the summertime. Therefore, i went to another Orthodox Church where I was the only woman wearing pants. Since then I'm seen several others doing it so I don't feel too bad. I asked a parish member what made their church different from the one in another town nearby. She said "We're a little more liberal branch." It made me laugh- Their website is quite conservative sounding. They evidently just don't stone you if you've a woman wearing slacks. ;^)

Lol. And so true. My Bible reading today included:

"Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." (2 Corinthians 3:17) That really hit me this morning, when I read the headlines, and tend towards despair. Having joy and happiness in spite of them helps me, and maybe, just maybe, helps them see a different way of life than bitterness, anger and derision.

I have plenty of derision and bitterness and anger, don't get me wrong. But I am going to try to live without it. And remember the author of my strength.
