Football Sunday in America 08/28/16 - [Niedermeyer's Dead Horse]

Good afternoon and welcome to Sunday Football in America. Unfortunately, Goodell and his NFL are leaving such a bad taste in my mouth it's going to be a challenge to enjoy the sport I love knowing I'm contributing in any way to his pocketbook.

So, I'm keeping it short today.

The schedule for today:

Chargers at Vikings 1:00 pm ET on Fox
Cardinals at Texans 4:25 pm ET on Fox
Bengals at Jaguars 8:00 pm ET on NBC

Here's a couple of gals to keep you company.

Enjoy the games, and play nice, folks.

71 Watch the NFL but note commercials so you don't buy from the advertisers.

Point of order: Lengthy study of Seattle's danceleaders (nobody cheers) leads me to believe that there is a rule that nobody can exceed 5' 5" in height. Is this common to all prancing shakers of pompoms?

Note to artillery enthusiasts: Pompom does not refer to 2 pounder QF antiaircraft weapons.

Good to see some names that haven't been around so much lately - Aetius, Man of Athens, and (below at least) dagny.

Pretty sure it's a Cooper's Hawk that's taken up part-time residence in the big ficus trees in the back yard - he's beautiful. They're indigenous, but you rarely see them, usually just the red-tails.

I have, I'm not kidding, spent this year and last, dozens of hours looking for blog-appropriate cheergal pics and tend to agree with you. Most teams have at least one decent looking gal, some have a couple, the Texans, however, have a squadful of them. Denver, too. And their unis are cute and sporty.

By and large, the universe of hot, non-trashy cheergals is limited to the southern and western states. Some teams are a real challenge, but Houston, Denver, Arizona, San Francisco, and San Diego commit.

Then again, the hottest costumed cheergal ever is from Minnesota and will be featured prominently again this Halloween.

107 Major League Football is the most gargantuan exercise in phony baloney ever seen. Like every sport, it is a child's innocent leisure activity that has been co-opted by putative grownups and prostituted into a giant moneymaking enterprise and, as with all ginormous moneymaking enterprises that provide nothing of any real practical value, it has become more and more dependent upon BS and hype for its growth and perpetuation, to the point that there is nothing else to it but BS.
How conservatives who loathe Hollywood for its self-important pretentiousness, strutting Liberal attitudinizing and masturbatory narcissism can nevertheless be a football fanatic mystifies me. Hollywood and the NFL are the same thing.

Boss was offered the most money behind Carson Wentz, a QB. Bad move by Boss. He should listen to his teammates who say he is still welcome and get a deal done, fire the agent, and play football. As a rookie you have no leverage hence the mandatory large signing bonuses the Union got for them.

If he sits out a year, he will not go in the 1at round and will be lucky to go in round 4. He has negative leverage.

Something does not smell right with him one way or the other.

The Chargers had to make the deal public because they need other players and rookies to want to play for them knowing they will get paid and compensated well.

One thing to keep in mind about old Kaepernick--he was drafted by the Cubs, so he has that holding him back. The ex-Cub factor was why that was the only Super Bowl I ever laid money down on.

186 He (Suckadick) doesn't care about the possible fallout on his career or corporate sponsorships: "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Good then you can end up cleaning toilets for a living. And the bodies on the street are black on black violence assmunch.

By refusing to stand for the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner - and equating the American flag with the Confederate flag on Twitter - critics will say he disrespected his country and its most emotional symbol: the American Flag.

Does he know which flag represented the side fighting against the Confederacy? I've said it before if this turd said all lives matter the 69ers and NFL would have come down on him. Screw all of them

As a Sports Professional, well versed in the classics, Science, Literature, the Arts, and All Things Great and Good I like to get my day started right with the most important meal of the day!

Goat Semen. Yes, Goat Semen!

Goat Sodomy, that is. Letting a few goats do me up the poop chute, then finishing them off down the hatch lets me get my day started right.

As the $50 Million Dollar Man for a 'bottom' team I know what I'm talking about!

Look for my CK-Approved Goats and cartons of fresh Goat Semen coming to a mosque near you!

*Note goat semen may contain traces of explosive, poisons, feces, little boys, dead farm animals, intestinal lining, raw crude, Pakistanis, estrogen, hashish, smegma, lots of smegma, and or self-hating American-Jewish progtards.

For the past 12 years, my Raiders were a joke.

Now, the NFL is drooling over the prospect of a Las Vegas Raiders.

Why?

Everyone loves an underdog. Even when that underdog is usually a team that everyone loves to hate.

Winning a SB in Vegas, with a team as storied (and controversial--Al Davis hated the NFL with the heat of a billion suns going supernova) as the Raiders, the NFL is probably conflicted between its contempt of the Raiders (thanks Al!) and the dollar signs giving them some serious wood.

I can't help but laugh.

Snake would.

208 So the NFL is going to Vegas???

Back in the late eighties/early nineties the NFL threatened to block NFL games from being viewed in the state of Oregon because of Oregon's new "Sports Action" lottery game. The state eliminated the game (which was a huge hit BTW) because the NBA and NCAA also made similar threats.

Since then the NFL/ESPN has become huge promoters of fantasy football (a form of gambling). They advertise gambling websites during games and in stadiums and now they are moving the Raiders to Las Vegas?

Oregon should sue the NFL for lost income for the last 25+ years.

When I came back, I casually joked (making sure to plus up the joking nature of it) that I wondered if they even played the anthem at Giants home games any more.

The guy was as baffled as he was offended.

Yes, take this with a huge grain of salt, but finally, after a dozen years, my Raiders have been making some smart moves after regarding drafts and free-agency pics, decent coaching staff, a GM that has a surprising knack for picking the right people for the right job, cutting off the deadweight, and an owner-- contrary to the ridiculous haircut he sports--isn't a complete idiot, and who has no problem with being seen eating out at Hooters.

255 I just saw 'Sitting On My Brain' Kaepernick interviewed during the halftime of Texans/Cardinals. He, of course, was doubling down on his viewpoint, but that is not what I noticed.

He has let his hair grow. It is a curly Afro that straight-up looks like he is trying on a lady's wig. It is hysterical! Keep making those incredible life choices, Colin.

Then they interviewed Jay Glazer, who was pretty firm in his opinion that Kaepernick is in a very tenuous position from a simply football standpoint. Jay stated that unless Kaep improves that he (Jay) thinks it will be a surprise if Kaep is on the roster at the end of the season and could even be not-on-the-roster in a couple of weeks.

And there evidently was a closed meeting this morning of the 49er players where it was discussed how they want this issue not to divide the locker room. Good luck with that and be sure to thank Mr. Not Stand for thinking of how it might affect others he works with.

I a los got the pleasure of watching him die a slow painful death over 10 years from neurological symptoms and degeration of the nerves that are symptomatic to exposer to Agent Orange. Also got to relivethat war every night with his flashbacks and booze. My family had safe houses spread across town on the worst nights.

If you think a Army Green Beret Airorne Ranger Special Forces 1st, 5th, and 7th raised a candy ads you are wrong.

I'll say this, growing up was like a war zone and there was little treatment offered for PTSD so on top or that and the nerve failures, he drank himself to death.

Army told me when I went to sign up that because I was a only son and because my dad's side of the family were all Army/Military that I should read up on our enemies and fight the propaganda war at home so another Vietnam does not occur, which I have done the past 17 years for my small part and lost many family members and friends because of it.

My dad had the highest funeral honors in Arlington outside of POTUS.

Other than that I have no clue to what it is like to be on alert 24/7 fight or flight and have your country hate you because you stand up against your country's enemies.

Like I said earlier, I was one of those guys, meaning I served in the same units as did your father. I never stated or implied that your father was a candy ass. Far from it.I took issue with the statement YOU made, but attributed to him, "Point is that if you serve your country, the pussy should be free and

easy for life."
That statement is a load of shit, your father's bravery notwithstanding. As for the Army turning you away because you were 'an only son,' I never heard of a recruiting office doing that in the post-Vietnam era.

Well he told me they discourage it and told me to go home and think about it and come back to discuss it. I did. We discussed it. He said the propaganda war is important to fight at home, which we lost in Vietnam. This was a year after my dad died and my family was a wreck plus 9/11.

You also misquoted me. My father used to say 'Son, every soldier has his whores." He also told me and my mom that the men, his brothers, who served in the Army treated soldiers families like family. I said that throughout history soldiers in Armies have been rightfully rewarded with all the pussy they wanted. Feminism killed that. Not me.

So my father was brave and he was brave. But his wife and children sticking by his side when most would have cut and run are not worthy of Army respect, watching a an die slowly from toxic agent Orange, somebody with severe PTSD and a dangerous alcoholic especially during the flashbacks because we empathized and sympathized with him and most importantly loved him and knew if we left he would probably kill himself.

Kinda goes against what he was taught to believe and his brothers in the Army told him and us to believe.

I get it. Y'all have every reason to be jaded as Fuck. What I don't get is the jaded part being lashed ouit at families of verterans who served during wartime and the same families that stuck by their sides to the death. I can get the ones that left without ever looking back or even the ones that did not stick by their sides. But families who did the honorable and right thing by making sacrifices to stay with a war time wounded vet and we are not good enough.

That I don't get and neither would my dead father. I'm done discussing it. It is not healthy to do so. He was part of the Phoenix Program. He was a one- zero. These wars since 9/11 have turned brother against brother thanks to the overlords.

The whole point at the beginning was a observation about feminism. Good Grief.

Thanks for your service. And God Bless.

Not bullshit. I went in emotional right after 9/11 and right after my father died. I was in college almost finished. I spoke to the recruiter for 2 hours that first day. He told me to come back and was hesitant because I was the only son and last of my father's blood line.

I came back after thinking and discussed it again. He posed a simple question to me because I wanted in Intelligence like my dad. "What caused us to lose Vietnam" Well my answer was losing the propaganda war at home. He said don't you think this country should try and win the propaganda war at home this time by having citizens learn about the enemies if this country and fighting the war on that front at home. I said yes.

So call bullshit I don't care. The truth has no agenda. It is what it is and it was what it was.

270 Why lie for over 14 years about going to speak to an Army recruiter after 9/11 and shortly after my father died. I asked about what the direction I needed to take for Officer Candidate school to get into intelligence like my dead father wanted. Me being the only son and the last of my family's line was one factor. There were others like not being out of college yet and the fact my father just died and I probably was not in the most healthy state of mind at the time. We had two long discussions. I wound up choosing the propaganda war as a civilian at home because I found people in this country to be ignorant and completely uneducated and buying the narrative being put out there.

For 8 years I beat myself up for not joining, in part because my mom was a wreck and struggled after my dad died and nobody was there for her. After the Arab Spring, I beat myself up for not doing enough to make people hear at home learn about our enemies.

If I did serve It would have destroyed me knowing what we all know now. I have absolute empathy and sympathy for veterans, having grown up front and center reliving the 4 yours with my father and watching him in a helpless state so I can't only imagine what how difficult it is for veterans today, but I empathize and sympathize.

What I don't understand and maybe a few can help me to understand is why the shift to the US against the world mentality even towards the families of veterans that are sticking by them, have stuck by them, and do what they can to fight the propaganda war at home? The propaganda war at home is important as evidenced by Vietnam and the War against the death cult, so why are families of vets along with those who fight the propaganda war at home treated increasing as if we are part of the problem? I ask because it is not what my dad raised and taught me what military brotherhood was all about.

Anyway only one person I've ever told this story to has believed me about the whole thing and I'm fine with that. I assume the thinking is along stereotypical lines that everybody who walks into a recruitment office is signed up immediately. That was not the case for me. Am I asking for valor as somebody who served? Hell no. Was I doing my part at home fighting the propaganda war? Hell yes. Do I feel like that front was lost especially with the election of Obama? Hell yes, I was part of that front who lost and it is shitty feeling everyday.

Anyway everybody who served I appreciate it and I'm thankful along with the family members who stuck by talks sides and continue to do so. I empathize and sympathize with all of y'all as there is no doubt getting a raw deal is putting it lightly.
God Bless you and yours and thank you all for your service and sacrifices again.
